A planet you were supposed to have scoured clean of ALL life the last time around. The only things that were supposed to be on Zebes were the space pirates, and they were supposed to be dead after the events of Metroid. This time you finished the job properly.
Samus isn't the one that blew up the planet, it was Mother Brain/space pirates.
Samus provoked them into doing it. If she'd just stayed home the planet would still be intact.
She didn't come back until Ridley stole the last Metroid so they could continue their whole "Mass produce the most dangerous lifeform in the galaxy as a bioweapon" on Zebes.

I don't know why the fanbase gives a frick about these random animals so much considering Samus blows up the entire planet and all the other millions of other animals that were just trying to exist there got unjustly obliterated.

Tons of great little moments in that game. Idling for a bit and the fairy sits on your shoulder after a while and then falls off and gets mad when you start moving again.

Something i discovered recently not in a game, but arcade marquee.
Nintendo VS Pinball marquee shows a real Pinball table, but a neat little detail is parts of the machine features Game&Watch character "sprites" on them. Makes me wonder if they have a full pinball machine sitting somewhere they designed for the photos filled with 80s Nintendo easter eggs.
