SNES games

I have 183 original carts for this system. Let's talk about this awesome system and it's great games. I think even making a top 50 for this console would be tough. Anyway post a number 1 through 183 and I'll post the game in my collection (randomized not alphabetical) and give a short review of the game.

      >Darius Twin

Yeah this is one of those games that is completely mid. I only bought it because I wanted all the SHMUPS for the sytem. It's ok, but I won't really play it. It came out very early in the life of the SNES and looks like it.

Don't know this game. Don't have it. I'm using your last three digits to pick game 63.

      >Super Metroid

I think it's overrated. It's one of the best games ever made, no doubt, but doesn't belong as high as it usually is. The controls are never adequate, it's short, and anytime you play it you're going to be taking pretty much similar paths the whole way through. It also has some frustrating parts in Maridia with the sand.

I get the hankering to play it through once in a while, but not nearly as much as Zelda LttP or Super Mario World which I'll play through 5x as much.

I loved SM my first time playing it last year. It really shines for me in randomizer runs, which you can customize to require more or fewer sequence breaking tricks/runs through norfair without varia etc.

      >7th Saga

Yeah I want to like and get into this game but I never did. My brother made it pretty far, but I could never get past the beginning. I like the idea of the game, but man it's so hard and has so many quality of life things missing from it which makes it hard to get into it after coming from Final Fantasy II, which was just amazing.

Funny its 7th Saga. Always thought to try it because I liked Illusion of Gaia a lot. Maybe I will now. Good post anon.

Totally disagree. I love the light grey and lavender/purple aesthetic. Very unique and futuristic looking. Taking your last three digits, 95.

      >Battletoads in Battlemaniacs

One of the more recent games I've picked up. Haven't made it past the second level, but it brings a smile to my face. Great graphics and the music is catchy. I remember seeing the graphics from all the levels in Nintendo Power and being amazed. It's hard as frick though, and a bit tough and simple to play today.

What's the best side plane shooter on snes and why is it UN Squadron?

Such a small selection and you still managed to pick the wrong one.

Wow. Good taste, anon. That is my choice too. U.N. Squadron is probably #2.

        >Aero the Acrobat 2

A more recent pickup. I've always wanted it and it's always been rare and expensive. It's a really damn good game. Waaaay better than the first one. It's made by Iguana, which ended up making Turok on the N64 which is one of my favorite games ever, and apparently the developers of that went on to make Metroid Prime, which is considered one of the best games ever, and I agree. So yeah I like this game a lot. A platformer with nice graphics, control and a different mechanic.

R-Type is good but UN is better for the god tier soundtrack

    E.V.O.

Also there's this Japan-only SNES game I really love, it's called Donald Duck's Magical Hat(Mahou Boushi I think?). Do you have it?
Another lesser known game on the SNES is Kid Clown.
if you have either or both of these, I'll be real impressed. Will even bend the knee.

I don't have the latter two, but I do have E.V.O. I've heard of the Kid Clown game and know it's kind of rare and decently pricey. Is it good? I don't have it on my "to get SNES games" list.

Kid Clown is unlike any other game I played, it's worth trying at least.
Do try out the Donald Duck game I mentioned. It's one of those licensed Disney games that play real good.
Another licensed Disney game I like is The Great Circus Mistery. That one is in English. It has a fancy system where you can change suits and each set of clothes gives you new skills.

I have the Great Circus Mystery. I don't remember anything about it since I picked it up for cheap back in the day. The Magical Quest I did get when it came out and played the shit out of it. Amazing game.

Do try out the games I mentioned, even if you have the two you don't have.
There's a longplay of Mahou Boushi on Youtube.

              That looks badass.

Yeah I should probably look into randomizer runs then. I did that with Zelda LttP and I played it through at least a half dozen times in a month. It's one of my favorite games of all time and it was like playing it again for the first time. I made it harder and the randomizer made me use items differently and get that old feeling of "where do I go" from back in the day. I wish all new games would have a randomizer option now. It's genius when done well.

Frick. I think I got this game for cheap back in the day, made sure it worked and never played it again. Can't say anything else.

A recent pickup, so I haven't really played it. I've heard it's pretty good, but it feels and looks like an NES game with slightly better graphics. I'll give it a try one day.

      182
      B.O.B.
This is one of those games I always wanted when I was little, and only played with renting it. It's a pretty decent little run and gun puzzle/shooter. I haven't played it much but I should. It's definitely one of those underrated games on the system. It's still pretty cheap.

Space Megaforce CIB. I got it back in 2002 or 2003 for $20, along with Axelay, R-Type III, Super Turrican 2 and Equinox. Yes all were $20 CIB. This was at a swap meet. It's worth around $800-900 now. It's also my favorite SHMUP on the SNES.
