Who's Arthur? Didn't remember him mentioned in Red Dead Redemption. I guess an npc from RDR2? Never played that one, but it's a prequel to RDR right?

Yea he's the protagonist of RDR2 and the game was a prequel to RDR1. It's pretty good the first time through I'd recommend a playthrough if you're ever looking for a game to play

The protagonist? If he's that important why isn't he mentioned in RDR? Weird.

He was, did you even play the game? Literally mentioned in Bill's introduction:
          >No more Dutch, no more Hosea, no more Arthur, no more Micah, no more Grimshaw, no more Charles, no more Lenny, no more Pearson, no more Molly, no more Sadie, no more Tilly, no more Karen, no more Javier, no more Josiah, no more Kieran, no more Strauss, no more Mary-Beth, no more Swanson, no more Sean, no more Uncle, no more Jack, no more Abigail, and no more you.

RDR2 was an on-rails Netflix series, and I'm tired of pretending it wasn't to keep RockStar gays from crying.

I’m mean it is If you just did one mission after another and didn’t explore or anything. But you didn’t do that anon, did you?

Depends, if Jack turned his life around after this than it all meant something if he continued to live a life of crime and died getting gun downed by lawmen then yea it was all for naught

Most likely the later. The idea that the age of the outlaw has come to an end is completed by showing that the Government that "ended" that age inevitably created more criminals because they need to justify their wages

Rdr1 is pretty nihilistic and a lot of the stranger's missions are like that

I can't replay it because of that, it's too much of a downer. RDR2 had me on edge because a lot of the side missions are just Arthur making friends and I thought each one would end with them dying. It's like whenever Twilight Zone did a Christmas episode and I kept expecting Santa to be aliens.

the west is dead and jack was following his rightful vengeance. to counter-signal that makes you a spiritual cuck

      RDR was better than 2.

Pretty much, yeah. It'd have been fine if Jack was even a little less of a shithead, where's it's a grey area if he's going to live better.

John made the moron decision to go after Micah with Sadie and the Indian (Not being rude I just don't remember his name, wasn't it like Chester or Carver?) If he just laid low with his family they all would've lived a normal life. Now, thanks to John being a moron, the Government knew how to find him. Also, what the frick was up with Dutch shooting Micah just to try and kill John later down the line?

it's not like Dutch went after John, he probably would've left him alone if the feds hadn't set John on his trail

Dutch wanted to get back at Micah for using him, and only wanted to kill John once it was clear he was being used by the Pinkertons to hunt him down.

Idk if it's canon or not, but wasn't there a book written by Jack Marston in the background of some scene or area in GTAV? I always assumed that meant Jack became a writer. It's not like Jack is too old to do anything else at the of RDR. Fighting the retired guy might not even be canon or maybe Jack was just never caught for killing him and became a writer in his 30s. Is any of it in stone?

The GTA thing is just a cute easter egg but I think it's thematic that Jack go onto more criminal escapades before chilling out and settling down. He still had rage at the end of RDR1 but there was no way they'd pin him for Ross's death.

and you can ride from the Southwest to the Great Plains to DE BAYOU in like 10 minutes, the geography of the map is clearly considerably squished for gameplay purposes

That's kinda the point. They got caught up in the shit trying to make it big and got their lives effectively ruined due to it.

I don't think people got to Jack in the end. I mean he managed to become a writer after all that.

The point is he got what he wanted and knew when to quit. Neither John nor Arthur were ever able to quit before it caught up with them, Jack is smart enough to get the job done and get out while he still can.
