So how does the scaling work?

Does each gym just scale based on how many badges you have, since you have a lot more freedom in this? Same thing with random trainers? What about wild pokemon?

No scaling. You have to do the 18 badges in order.

No level scaling whatsoever, which is fine for wild Pokémon, arguable for the titan bosses, but terrible for the trainer bosses.

When you read it listed like this, it really gives off the feeling that the game is only giving you the illusion of choice in practice. Maybe if you grinded your team to level 60 or whatever point you can one-shot every adversary of theirs before taking any of them on would it feel like I can go in any order I want.
      >Then post game once you clear all 3.
Is it really a postgame when the credits don't even play until after you clear that path?

Open world was a meme, now thanks to this there's no progression feel to the game, there's no "looking back on how far you've come"
The game should've stained mostly linear just with the right amount of exploration to avoid becoming a visual novel like gen 7 and 8

Play the game in order if you want a linear experience.
