So how much grinding should I be doing because some of this stuff is confusing me? I'm in chapter 11 lvl 33 across the board and I haven't had any trouble with the game what I assume is primarily because I crafted the best weapons possible (lvl 3 workshop) and now around town I'm fighting up to lvl 45 dudes who don't seem tough, but I've had them oneshot some of my party members while at the same time the bonuses I get from levelling up don't appear to be that signficant. I haven't really changed any jobs, only made Saeko the healer.
Ichiban should be Hero, Saeko Idol, Nanba Host, Adachi Enforcer, Zhao Chef. You probably don't need to grind for the main story other than the Sotenbori side dungeon.
You're not supposed to grind, period. When you get to chapter 12 they'll introduce you to the Battle Arena and have multiple characters go "Hey, this place is optional, BUT IT WOULD BE A REALLY GOOD IDEA FOR YOU TO TRAIN HERE!" before you leave it. They want you to clear the whole thing including optional objectives (Really easy) which takes like one and a half to two hours even if you're not really rushing. That levels everyone enough so that they can take on the final boss and FMT just fine, and kits you out with the second best weapons in the game for the default jobs and a bunch of the best armor in the game.
>I haven't really changed any jobs
They wanted you to change them when you started noticing you weren't leveling anymore in a handful of fights. Prior to chapter 11 you'd get diminishing returns. After chapter 11 that's the EXP rate for the rest of the game.
>Zhao Chef.
No one should be Chef, it's one of the worst jobs in the game. It's a mage that exclusively focuses on melee attacks and its only worth is Peppermill Blow which works on all jobs making it even less worth it.
>you're not supposed to grind
>but you will need to grind this optional dungeon
Yes, if you read what I said a bit later I mentioned that the game has a diminishing returns system. You outright cannot grind normal enemies because you simply will not level fast after a certain point taking over 20+ fights to do so once, and even the Battle Arena is terrible EXP after a certain point. They do not want you grinding until postgame and even there it was only for 100% since FMT didn't require it at all (You can beat it if you can beat the final boss). You're only supposed to get to 99 and 30 in each job since jobs past 30 weren't out at release. They want you to run the Battle Arena, maybe one or two runs on the final five floors, then go away and finish the story.
Also, the "grind" in 7 is a joke, if you consider the Battle Arena "grinding" then I'd love to see you get to Gran Pulse in FFXIII by fighting Flans and wolves for like two hours only to have to grind another 5+ in the surrounding areas just to explore it, or into the Temple of Enlightenment in Lost Odyssey by fighting Black Kelelons and Hellish Kelelons. Literally takes like five hours. One hour of the Battle Arena, where you fight completely different enemies and minibosses while gaining a bunch of materials and equips for free isn't grinding. It's a dungeon with extra steps.
I don't know. I grinded the business game early and ended up with essentially infinite money and then upgraded Romance Workshop to max rank and then got everybody's best weapons. I also did all the substories and side content up to that point and had all the job exp boosting items (two of them if possible) on every character. If you don't have Eri get her and make here a Dealer, Dart's Airstrike is pretty insane in terms of damage.
I like having Zhao on Breaker because it has better moves than his default job. I kinda wish you could still use people's default costumes on different jobs tho because some of the job's costumes look retarded and I don't like the DLC costumes.
>and I don't like the DLC costumes.
Some of them work on the characters. Daigo's puffy jacket works on Zhao, Kaoru's suit works on Saeko, Saejima's jacket works on Ichiban, and Han's outfit obviously works on Korean Vergil.
Oh yeah, I actually do like Han's costume since it's Han's costume from Yakuza 6 and it would make sense that as a body double he would have the same clothes.
It felt so weird to me that the Musician job has the voltage mechanic which is pretty much the only job that has a unique mechanic like that. I hope in the remake jobs have unique mechanics that help them stand out more.
Problem is that the Voltage mechanic was so poorly implemented. In order to even gain it you had to use very specific skills for a random chance at gaining it, and then its only real use was in one move that gained like 20 damage per stack and the Essence that gained like 400 extra damage for max stacks. I also have zero clue why they had an ability that increased in damage for having more Musician party members, because even if you did the damage buff was laughable, it was like 50 extra damage and now your party members were stuck in one of the "Not complete garbage but teetering" tier jobs.
Hopefully they take the mechanic and expand upon it in IW by introducing more fleshed out mechanics for some of the jobs.
Theres an enemy in some of those sewer dungeons that look like a hobo jesus, they take one damage from everything, they have fixed spawns to, those enemies are basically metal slimes, I grinded on those usually.
I only did the first level and got bored since I didn't see the point. Do I restart from the second if I re-enter? Is there some sort of reward for completing the thing?
>Do I restart from the second if I re-enter?
No, you start from the first floor.
>Is there some sort of reward for completing the thing?
For the Yokohama one I think the boss might have given you something, for the Kamurocho one, no. The reason you go to them is because the safes have some decent equips when you unlock it for the former, and some great equips in the latter. The latter also has the hobos which are the only grinding spot in the game that has good EXP and can be cycled very quickly. It's like 4 minutes for 2 and a half levels past 30.
Can't fly or spew fire. Nothing like a dragon about it.
You shouldn’t worry about grinding until you get to the battle tower. Then you should play through it a couple times with different jobs to grind them up because the boss immediately after finding the battle tower will kick your dick in if you don’t grind
Nah, you don't need to grind any of the jobs. You just need to get to a general level of about 45ish to 50ish and whatever jobs you're running at to like 18 or 21, I can't remember the exact area. If you feel you're underleveled you run the last 5 floors one or two more times, but at that point you are ready to clear all of the main story and the FMT without any issues at all. The fights will just take a bit longer if you don't have access to ice or electric.
its such an easy game but it still filters idiots.
having a dedicated healer makes the game piss easy, and the start of ch12 gives you a battle arena that takes like 40 mins to get through and you can easily gain 7-8 levels plus a bunch of good items, thats the most grind you "need". Its nothing like old jrpgs where you had to grind samey encounters just to complete the story.
You should only grind before starting NG+ unless you like losing billions of yen just to restart a battle.
To be fair, NG+ (I'm assuming you're also talking about Legend) outright expects you to have every job at 30, the best weapons at EX, and endgame gear before you even touch it because NG+ was DLC released months after 7 came out. You're not supposed to instantly go into it and the same goes for TFMT.
Majima is the only difficulty spike and it's because they want you to go do the dungeon in the sewers
He's only lvl 50 and wasn't difficult to fight. by the time you reach him you'll either be equal levels or around 43-48 even without constantly going in the dungeons.
>they want you to go do the dungeon in the sewers
Hobos in Yokohama only give 6k whereas on of the last five floors of the Battle Arena give something around that amount. By the time you've hit like chapter 8 the Yokohama Underground is worthless.
Oh man I remember bumping into Majima while being underlevelled, the whole battle was a butt-clenching experience but I managed to survive using all my valuable items.
what
what what
what the hell is 5! I've never seen this shit in my life
I don't know english word for it, transalation say it's strong/ strength.
It's bassically 1 * 2 * 3 * 4 * 5
I think it's high school level math, though not really used unless you go to uni.
! means 5x4x3x2x1
5! is a factorial meaning you take the number listed and go down until you reach 1 while multiplying everything. So 5! is 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1.
>5 x 4 = 20 x 3 = 60 x 2 = 120 x 1 = 120.
8 x 15 is 120
1 x 3 = 3 x 5 = 15 x 7 = 105
(9+3)x10 is (12) x 10 = 120.
Ice Spreader's description says it can hit multiple opponents but I have never once seen that happen, at most it will inflict cold status on a couple of nearby enemies.
Skills take into account actual position of enemies and enemies/everyone are allowed to keep moving until execution of skill. So unless skill has wide range or good tracking, it will propably miss hitting multiple targets or guy you target will move away saving everyone else.
Exception are skills that that move everyone to different screen, usually essences.
Hope they fix this shit in IW and it's not just a crapshoot if your attack hits more than one enemy or not.
There is something worse, I mostly encountered it in sewer and some construction side. In case enemy walks behind some items, and your character is unable to pathfind way then it will just throw attack into air. In case there is some items, then character might kick bucket to try hit enemy, but if there is nothing nearby and enemy is behind background object, then all meele attacks will fail.
All that said, ice attack you mentioned is very useful as I think it was unblockable.
>Hope they fix this shit in IW
I really don't know why 7 doesn't show attack ranges for skills, it should have been a no brainer in a game where the enemies can move whenever and however they want. I hope 8 shows it.
Yeah, 8 shows an indicator for AOE attacks and directional attacks like Adachi's charge move for example.
>difficulty curve is totally normal until the moment majima walks on screen
Genuinely what the fuck were they thinking.
Genuinely thought I was supposed to lose that fight.
Complete the whole Battle Arena when it unlocks. That should be enough
