    nothing implemented properly or meaningfully

I like it but it clearly needs more work as half the game mechanics are WIP.

Veeeeeery undercooked, but a very good idea also, I will give it a proper try within a half to a full decade.

you see the castle walls in your pic (like in every promotional art)
you cant make those """yet""" but maybe sometime in the future you will
game is made by one guy so dont expect any significant progression in this decade

Until you can build what is in that pic, it's undercooked.

Really solid EA game. Game falls apart in late-game with how armies work and there are a bunch of mechanics that need work like AI, how market stalls work, cross-regional trade etc., and a good chunk of mechanics that are straight up not implemented yet. But it’s a solid game you can sink a few dozen hours into as is if you like playing EA games.

kind of the same as most of these twee medieval town builders to be honest

    >build one of each building
    >you've now seen 90% of what the game has to offer

Seeing this shit at the top of Steam's most wishlisted chart should have been the tip off that this is a case of a massive, genuine shilling campaign. There is no way a genre that isn't very popular with a theme that is as boring as possible in the shadow of a massive one man army indie early access asterisk can organically become a chart topper. I can understand Palworld coming out of nowhere and riding the Pokemon with guns novelty to success, I can see Lethal Company riding the casual multiplayer streamer train to success, but those games built up their following after release; I do not for a second believe that millions of people have been eagerly awaiting medieval peasant slop farmer simulator.

A game that looked like banished clone but felt like an inferior stronghold game.

It's a really fun city builder, but needs more work.
Don't care about the battle mechanics, they're pretty meh. It's especially frustrating how the enemy doesn't even have a village of his own, he just spawns armies out of nowhere.

needs a lot of work, even by early access standards it was released far too early. it has a lot of potential but feels like a total scam in its current state. it's also unstable and was crashing a lot for me on the latest driver. i've submitted a refund request, never buying early access again no matter what.

Another colony sim that isn't as good as DF. I am cursed for learning that game. Every fricking person I talk to loves Rimworld, even though it's objectively inferior. I fricked up big time by learning the best game in the genre first. Nothing has lived up to it. They had a chance up until the Steam version came out.
Going Medieval seems to be the most interesting and promising colony sim in Early Access at the moment. I say that because it seems to be getting new features and updates constantly, that are significant.

I've reached the point where I don't buy colony sims anymore, even though I love the genre, because they consistently under-deliver. Every single one is trying to do "dwarf fortress but with graphics" and none of them come even close to half the mechanical depth of DF. Going Medieval seems to have a good balance of visual fidelity with room to grow into a very complex game. The building system and visuals and development pace of Going Medieval make me suggest trying that one instead.

We both know that DF isn't that good.

All the other Colony Sims are the same basic mechanics, and then they don't have anything like
        >a complete textiles industry
Like, DF has everything, and then you google "clothing" and you learn about sheep sheering and dyes and then you learn about glass and the rabbit hole keeps going deeper with DF.

DF has been in development for almost 2 decades. Whether you think it's "good" or not, is subjective. Objectively, it is more complicated than all the other clones.

Objectively, Rimworld has a shit art style. That is a fact.

A casual DF player might get their first fort to a couple years old and 100 migrants and wonder "wtf why is there clothes on the floor?" DF's complexity leads to a trickling of mechanics. "Losing is fun" kind of means "the game is too complicated and it is poor game design to diarrhea out a tutorial, even though every game does it". It's like vanilla WoW, and how that MMO pacing is better than all the clones. All the DF clones are the WoW clones that try to replicate the same learning experience and pacing and fun. There is a reason new WoW's FTUE is so fricking bad. It's poorly designed by people who don't design or understand games. They just copy or parrot what they learned in school.

DF feels like it's complex for the sake of complexity, it simulates some areas in autistic detail while leaves other things untouched, with no explanation why. It's a very poorly designed game

I don't care how good this is supposed to be. I don't play a game that looks like it was published in the 80s.

We both know that DF isn't that good.

All this to say, Manor Lords is an extremely small team, if not exclusively the 1 guy, so I would not expect this game to flesh out into anything worth $30. That's why I've stopped picking up every colony sim that launches. They are consistently slowing down and stopping in the mud before they get close to something as interesting as DF.

Colony Sims have become a "try it for 20 hours" genre. I don't expect any of the new ones to be truly rewarding. I'm open-minded and I refund a lot.

Shallow banished clone with no content. Combat is promising, but right now the AI is off map and is very poorly balanced.
