in the original norse myth, anyone can hand Mjolnir, theres a story of a giant who stole the hammer, forcing thor to go into a embarrassing disguise to take it back

      Anonymous

As I remember it was also that, apart of the belt and gauntlets, Thor could use Mjolnir because his physical capabilities allowed him to withstand any drawbacks from the hammer.

      Anonymous

In Norse lore there's nothing magically about Mjölnir except that it's physically very heavy. You don't need to be worthy to lift it. So anyone strong can lift it. Thor is both strong and has a belt that grants him more strength.

        Anonymous

Ackshually, Mjolnir is magic. It’s indestructible, acts like a boomerang, and can change size. But it’s true that anyone can use it, not just “worthy” people.

i think there was the additional factor where mjolnir was made wrong, as a joke. it was supposed to be a longer hammer, but the handle was made too short by loki fricking around. thor's tard strength allowed him to use it fine but for anyone else, it was more confusing as to how they were even supposed to hold it.

Kratos is stronger than Thor. This is the guy who stopped Atlas from crushing him when said titan was strong enough to hold up the entirety of Greece and Mount Olympus. The same Kratos whos one punch knocked out two of Thors teeth and dazed him for a good couple of seconds.

Kratos beat Hercules, who held up the world for a while
And he beat him pretty handily
I'd say holding the world on your shoulders is more impressive than fighting a snake who winds his way around the world, since Hercules would have also been holding up Jormungandr

I didn't play GOWR, but doesn't kratos throw all 9 realms or some shit around like it's a coffee table?

No, Kratos simply lifted Tyr's Temple, which is a gateway between all nine realms. People for some reason think that means he lifted all the realms.

Kratos' strength is completely inconsistent. In one QTE he'll struggle to push a feeble old man into a book, in another he'll literally lift Atlas' hand. All that matters for Kratos' strength is whatever will get little boy's dicks hard when they mash the circle button and gape at the screen as the cutscene plays out.

all these stories are equivalent because mythology is a collection of different retellings and interpretations of much older stories still, and there is no original and unadulterated version left.

Basically while the hammer was being forged, Loki, who'd made a bet about it turning out bad or something, distracted the dwarves as a fly. They mostly ignored him until near the end, which is why the handle got fricked up.

        Anonymous

the story of the 3 treasures was my favorite as a kid. i might be getting alot wrong, but it went like, loki was tasked to pick up 3 treasures from craftsmantown. while he was there, he goaded that no one could make better treasures than these. two craftsman brothers took him on the bet where the wager was fricking beheading. the brothers could very well make treasures better than those, but loki secretly fricked with them by like tying their shoelaces together or prank calling them during their forging. in the end, each of these new 3 treasures had a flaw in them, mjolnir being the handle. they presented all 6 treasures to odin and he was pleased, but agreed that loki was sort of a dick and declared him the loser with only a minor beheading, as a slap on the wrist.

Loki, in classic fashion, argued they were fully entitled to a beheading but could not under any circumstances harm his neck. After much bickering between the parties about what constituted the start of the head and the end of the neck, the dwarves elected to sew his mouth shut instead.

It's not about it being different. They've explained why they didn't pick Mjolnir. Literally everyone expected it when it was revealed to be Norse mythology this time around. When you didn't get it, it surprised you, because it opened up other possibilities and Norse weapons, rather than just "Oh Mjolnir, cool." It's too obvious and basic of a choice, so they decided against it.

It's not hard to understand, it's actually a smart move by them to not include it as a weapon. Way too fricking obvious of a choice, basic as frick.

Mimir and Atreus were both able to hea the voice of Zeus too but I guess it could just be Helheim playing with them.

Kratos could also both see and hear the visions that where targeted at Atreus.

How does Helheim know about what transpired between Kratos and Zeus if it has no connection to Zeus? All the dead from Kratos realm went to Hades.

Fair enough. Is that definitive though? I find it hard to believe no part of Zeus remains anywhere, Gods have to go somewhere. That's literally what Odin was trying to find out.

It's still unanswered how Odin knew of Greece and what happened with them

Because Tyr went there and to other lands and visited the other pantheons frequently? Because he hoards knowledge? Dude probably tortured the frick out of Tyr to get all the information he could about Kratos.

Tyr didn't seem to know that much about Kratos. The real Tyr that is. After freeing him he doesn't seem all that interested in Kratos or Freya.

In his temple you find a vase with angry god slaying Kratos depicted on it. Even Mimir knows about Kratos, likely from Tyr as well.

                >In his temple you find a vase with angry god slaying Kratos depicted on it.
Yeah but Tyr has shit from all over the realms. It's said he's travelled everywhere. How much he knows about everything is up for debate. When Kratos tells him his name he confirms he's heard of him but doesn't say much else or care to hear anything new.
                >Even Mimir knows about Kratos, likely from Tyr as well.
He also doesn't know that much. It takes him a while to piece together that Kratos is the Ghost of Sparta and that's only after Kratos confirms his father was Zeus. Seems more like he's heard a few myths but never actually learned much about him. In Ragnarok he presses Kratos for more information about Ancient Greece and seems surprised at some of the answers.

Just a vision. The place is literally Hell and plays on your demons/traumas. That is why Baldur saw visions of Freya and choking her.

Roman gods is just a cut and paste of the Greek pantheon and ancient Egyptians weren’t sand Black folk.
I think it will be the Mayan gods though.

why would he want it if the blades of chaos are just as strong? Those took down Hecatoncheires, something that's stronger than Kronos.

Even if "being worthy" wasn't a Marvel invention, it wouldn't matter. Someone in the writing room thought it would be cool if Kratos could lift it, therefore he does. If this were still styled after the original trilogy, not only would he lift it, he'd smash Thor's skull to a pulp and keep Mjolnir afterwards as an awkward boomerang type weapon.

      >even though they didn't do the MAHVEL thing, I'm going to insist that it had something to do with it anyway with no evidence!
so MAHVEL is yet another boogieman living rent free in your head. Got it.
      >If this were still styled after the original trilogy, not only would he lift it, he'd smash Thor's skull to a pulp and keep Mjolnir afterwards as an awkward boomerang type weapon.
But even if that were the case, wouldn't that still make your original assertion plausible? Also, if you're still b***hing about why Kratos isn't a hyperviolent revenge monster, then you clearly never played 3 since the whole point of that ending was that his rage and vengeance didn't bring him anything but more suffering. That's the point is that he got his revenge and only bad shit happened so there was no one left to be mad at, hence why he moved to Midgard to try to start over. He actively doesn't want to become that again. Going back to that only makes the ending of the original trilogy meaningless and whether you like the new games or not, just doing more of the old ones has no narrative place. If they were going to do more of the same of the original trilogy, they'd be better off leaving Kratos out of it and keeping it in the respective pantheon. If they want to continue Krato's story, this is how he'd have to behave, else the ending of the previous trilogy has no meaning.
