So is the scarlet violet dlc set in portugal?
The gen 8 dlc was set in ireland and the island of man which were on the opposite side same as scotland and england (mirrored)
Could this be the same? the water area has pretty much the shape of portugal, and is where itd be if mirrored
no you fucking idiot
first one takes place in Japan and the second one takes place in an underwater dome
japan? are you autistic? isle of armor was also japan themed but it was based on isle of man.
Also, the fact the dlcs are set in "a new region" could be a hint that its based on portugal
Kitakami is literally the name of a place in Japan and the first DLC is a field trip to a place filled with Momotaro references you absolute mong
gay imbecile, so is isle of armor, all it has is a japanese dojo. still, confirmed to be based on isle of man. Besides, theyve never done something like 2 distant regions in a single game, and theres japanese cities in alola and kalos too. Japanese themed places are always there, that doesnt make them japanese based regions. If you want to prove something so absurd you should post the proof of them saying it. it makes 0 sense itd be a japanese region, with even linked schools and lore, its surely on the unaccessible part of map
proof?
Thats why i said, galar is mirrored to real uk, the isle of man is to the other side than real life and so is ireland, scotland and england. Its possible paldea is mirrored too and that may be portugal
last reply, there’s no use arguing with someone this retarded
see you on Wednesday when the game shows Kitakami being far away from Paldea
also my proof on Isle of Armor being China themed is that KUNG FU IS FROM CHINA YOU STUPID AMERICAN
Anon, ... Look at a map and tell me what is North-West of the Iberian Peninsula
Retard if the basque is northeast and its inverted, it become southeast. Portugal is southwest so it ends up northeast. What dont you understand about isle of man being east instead of west and scotland being south instead of north? i have to explain the same thing thrice like speaking to a downie
thats barely a proof.
>proof?
A lot of them
>Chinese structures
>Kung fu bears based mons
>master roshi ripp off
also Isle of Armor is China themed, not Japan themed
Its believed that Kitakami is based on Iwate, a region in Tohoku, Japan. There is also an actual city in this region called Kitakami.
idk how anyone can look at this extremely rural Japan region with its extremely Japanese theme around the legendaries, with its extremely Japanese festival, and think "Is this Portugal?"
Regardless of where this region is positioned in the pokemon world, which we know is not a 1:1 geographic recreation of the real world in terms of where land masses are located, this region is not based on portugal or spain in any way shape or form
No it wasn't, the isle itself had nothing to do with Japan. There was just some goofy old guy who built a dojo there and a couple pagodas. That doesn't make it "Japan themed"
plus it was a CHINESE dojo where he taught KUNG FU and there was a KUNG FU bear Pokémon
they should have used a panda but maybe they didnt want people to say they copied dreamworks
Paldea is the iberian peninsula, Some cities are heavily inspired by portugal, like Porto Marinada and its white and blue tiles.
If the blue area is kitakami then it's japanese Basque Country
theres japanese in basque? thats so weird. but i dont know if theyd put in a semi-"country" that doesnt even appear in the world maps
Geographically speaking the blue area would be Basque Country. But there is no japanese in Basque. The basque language is the only one in europe which has no realtion with any other european language. Basque are also a genetic singularity so to speak.
I guess GF didn.t manage to amke anything interesting with basque Culture, so we're back with japan. The only interesting thing I think of is the Tarasque
The blue area is france (Kalos) you fucking retards
Whatd be the need to put it in there at all? They could just isolate the region from the rest. Afterall in the map paldea is isolated, and in the game you can see nothing behind that wall of rock, or sorrounding paldea at all. even though most region maps had land connections.
In my country kitataka is called northway. im sure itll be in that area
>Whatd be the need to put it in there at all? They could just isolate the region from the rest.
Then it would be an island instead of a peninsula. Do you understand the difference?
The wall of rock is the Pyrenees.
Basque Country is part of France, brainlet
Schizo moment
Porto Marinada = Porto
Alfornada = Albufeira
Portugal is already included in Paldea
is that because albufiera sounds like alfornada in your head or you actually have a proof for it?

i dont open links cause they could be viruses
>imgur
nice try
I can't believe you're still the same moron from almost a year ago who's still trying to prove anyone that portugal was included in Paldea.
It wasn't. It's set in Spain. Stop with the Iberian peninsula bs. Food references are exclusively Spanish. Pokemon names like Lechonk, Fuecoco, Sprigatito etc are all Spanish. Academy names are both in Spanish. Characters say some catchphrases in Spanish. Not a single one of these have portuguese in it.
Portugal in its architecture and culture is 90% a copy of Spain. So you finding similarities between Paldea's architectonic elements and portuguese ones doesn't mean shit. Spain has everything of it too.
I can't believe you are still pushing this weird propaganda. Your country is NOT a part of Paldea. Nor will it be in the DLC. It's all Spain. Spain alone had enough content to make up a region of its own. The map of Paldea was meant to represent ONLY Spain. Portugal is not the Western part of Paldea. It simply doesn't exist in the Pokemon Universe, just like many other countries.
Please stop this nonsense.
I'm pretty sure Marinada is portugal, porto is portuguese too I think but other than that you summarze it perfectly, Portugal is Spain's kid who got independent some time ago, of course they look similar but the core, the heart and nearly all the land and culture of Paldea is Spain
They even recorded live commercials for the game in Spain lol and the colors of the game make up Spain's republican flag too
>who got independent some time ago
Oldest borders in the world.
>Portugal is Spain's kid who got independent some time ago
What timeline are you talking about? Portugal as a country is older than Spain, you dumbass. There was nothing to get independence from because no such thing would even be possible to happen.
You sound incredibly bitter. You have to be Spanish lol. It's ridiculous to deny that Paldea is based on Portugal or the Iberian Peninsula as a whole when half of south west Paldea literally sounds and looks exactly like Portugal.
Not a single one of these have portuguese in it.
lol your proof is only the latinx woke localisation?
any others languages dont use any of these spanish words not even the og japanese game
>PLATO Town
>OLLA Lake
>NyaHOJA
>LAUDbon
>OLIÑO
>OLIVA
>CARBOu
>GurenARMA
>MOTOtokage
>KiraFLOR
All in the nip version
mostly japanese with some latin word
>literal cope
Holy cope, look at
and tell me that isn't Portugal. There's also PORTO Marinada and not Puerto Marinada
Both Masuda and Ohmori visited Portugal in 2016 and showed interest in representing the country in some way in Pokemon, which was realized in Paldea. A year ago it was all trailers so it was harder to point out portuguese influence in Paldea. You can cope all you want but there's no denying most of western Paldea is heavily based on Portugal as seen in
. You also act as if these games are supposed to be a 1:1 representation of a country, you can walk around Kalos and maybe only half the things there will look french
Uneducated take, Portugal is older than Spain as a country and has 800+ years of separate cultural output. The only reason they have similarities is because of their very similar upbringings and history
No one ever mentions the inspirations for the starters either. Quaxly, a duck water Pokemon with hair that looks like a buccaneer hat evolves into a gay exotic Carnaval bird that dances samba, a clear tie in with Portugal's past as navigators and Brazil, their colony while Spain has Fuecoco who evolves into a desert crocodile with a skull painted on it's face which is a clear Spain-Mexico connection
Anon spain has carnival of malorca, why do you think the dex mentions Quaxly migrated to Paldea but says nothing similar about Fuecoco? It's from an island of Spain, not the mainland in which Paldea is based
Just sounds too much of a coincidence and too in your nose to not be references to Brazil/Mexico. Samba is also very Brazilian and parrots/macaws/whatever quaquaval is supposed to be are endemic in South America
>Quaxly migrated to Paldea but says nothing similar about Fuecoco?
Because crocodiles can't fucking fly over the ocean, birds are migratory by nature so it makes sense they would say that. You can make the same argument that it actually migrated from Pokebrazil into Paldea. Also a lot of European carnavals have been usurped from their religious past by Brazilesque ones with barely clothed women sadly
Because it's an Iberian lynx which only exists in Iberia. The magic/masquerade part is open to debate on what it's influenced by
Fuecoco doesn't even have to be a mexican reference because Barcelona already has salamanders with the same stone patterns as Skeledirge and you don't need Fuecoco to fly or swim from the americas to europe, you could just say people took them into Paldea just like it happened with Yungoos in Alola.
They didn't come from outside Paldea because they are from Paldea because they are spanish, you can find other countries with similar stuff in Italy, France, Brazil, etc, but the only place where you find them all is Spain
Why only the sexo gato is from europe?
It's a tie in for the Algarve region in general, besides
the tiles and mosaics around the city and houses also give it away
It's set in Japan because KANTOOOO jap devs can't be bothered to maybe include Açores/Madeira/Canarias instead of some overused japanese tropes
Portugal itself is already fairly represented in western Paldea and Mesagoza
Yeah they look similar. Then it may really be basque. afterall the isle of man was also a vague region of the uk like that that they made oriental.
Btw is there any official statements about it this generation?
>Mesagoza
>portugal
lmao the absolute state, it's literally Spain's two capitals lumped together
See
Mesagoza is a mix between different real life cities, which makes sense considering it's the center of the region, so it mixes in elements from both countries
>literally just any random part of Madrid old city or any decently sized city in Spain (probably in portugal too)
>"but there's a small, improvised platform akin to that of a construction site, that's obviously some inter-building bridge from portugal!"
Lmao, what a fucking retard. One visit to Madrid's old city and a look Sagrada Familia is enough for everyone, even americans, to see it's spain
That's just an example. I'm not saying Mesagoza is Lisbon but it seems pretty obvious the central plaza is heavily based in the architecture of Baixa Pombalina in Lisbon, with the compass rose at the center of it being reminiscent of the one found in real life Lisbon. Most people online agree it is a mix between various cities, the imgur album explains it far better
>plaza mayor with catalania plaza decorated with trencadìs mosaic before you get into SAGRADA FAMILY is actually heavy inspired by lisbon bro look my favourite imgur album
It's okay we get the inferiority complex already
Dude, you are a dumbass. Mesagoza is literally 90% Lisbon inspired.
repeating yourself will surely convince everyone
I'm convinced by
and I'm now also convinced that (You) are a fucking idiot
What a retarded moron OP was.
this kinda gives me a bigger appreciation for the region because it makes it look like a lot more care was put into making it than it looks
just sucks that there's literally nothing in the towns and cities other than so sandwhich shops/clothing stores, giving players no reason to explore or sty in them
Thanks for putting this together for us. Definitely proved Alfornada is super Portugal inspired. Very cool, and the most memorable area in the game for me.
The only region of Spain I've been to was Madrid and its surrounding counties. Shame its massive crater in the games. Toledo and old city walls with suits of armor and stuff would be cool. I think they were just too rushed to deliver a premium Iberian experience. In 10 years I'll get my hopes up for a major remake/ re-imagining and get disappointed all over again
SOVL
>most of those aren't Mesagoza
>of the Mesagoza ones nearly all are random places you see in other south european old cities
my fav place in portugal is STAIRS before Sangrada familia. Slightly narrow street of old european houses is a close second
Time to destroy this thread including the anons who give OP (You)s!
Not vid related enough.
?si=ASw0aNPsDbKHzDao
Next.
Captcha OMAK NN
I can't believe someone would see Kitakami and think "Wow, Portugal".
This is bait or OP is just another retard american.
>OP is just another autistic retard
ftfy
It's taking place in Japan anon
>It's taking place in Japan
not in the french version
Kitakami being called Septentria in french doesn't change its actual location and culture. Just like Nihon being called Japan in english doesn't change its actual location and culture.
Also if anything you should have used the spanish version's Noroteo since the game is set in a spanish speaking region
Anon, you really need to study geography.
>is the scarlet violet dlc set in portugal?
Paldea already takes up all of Iberia. Portugal is already represented.
>The gen 8 dlc was set in ireland and the island of man
Isle of Armor was the Isle of Mann, Crown Tundra was Scotland. This was a little bit wonky as the starting area in Galar already seemed to be at least partially Scottish, but that's debatable.
the portumoron cope in this thread is amazing, paldea is not and never will be portugal
you know how I know this? I made the mistake of going to your shithole country once, and if any of the cities were inspired in lisbon there would be piss on every street corner and all the NPCs would look anorexic and short
>still can't refute the obvious inspirations
Also you say that but have you ever been to Barcelona? There's nothing more spanish than having german and british tourists pissing themselves in the streets
You were in some touristic trap. Lisbon is 90% Mesazoga, you were another npc without self-awareness when visiting its irl version.
The region based on the Iberic Peninsula takes inspiration from both countries in the Iberic Peninsula.
This not only shocks some of you autists, it actually spites you. Maybe you genuinely need meds.
This autistic slap fight between Portugal and Spain is like watching Hispanics chimp out over Spain with Klara's Spanish dialogue. It's like watching monkeys fight.
