So is this going to be "we have bloodborne at home" or "fine I'll make my own bloodborne with blackjack and hookers?" Because the only difference between those two is the actual game's quality.

If the final version combat is the same as the demo, the former.
Really? I preferred the focus on perfect blocking over gun parrying since it's both a way to negate damage and also drains enemy stamina. If there's one thing I don't like about From games it's that enemies have infinite stamina and you don't, I wish they took the idea from Nioh that everyone has a stamina gauge and you play around that. Which at least from the demo, LoP seems to be doing.
>western
It's a Korean game. Which means it's not surprising at all considering what Kpop guys look like.
>It's a Korean game.
Thanks I looked it up after posting and was about to correct myself. Mystery solved.
I found it stilted as hell. Input lag, dodging was useless, and the parry window wasn't big enough to justify this as a focus.
>dodging was useless
You're right, but that's also because you're not supposed to dodge. Playing it like it's BB will just get you killed, I died constantly before I realized how it actually wanted me to play.
>but that's also because you're not supposed to dodge
I know, but that's what I'm saying: the parry isn't polished enough to negate the dodge.
Really? I had no issues perfect blocking. There is a bit of an input lag but I think it might be intentional because so many enemy attack animations go in tandem with it.
I did not like. For the bosses it was kinda ok, but some enemies like that guard with the hat, it was hell.
>waaaaaa i cant dodge everything and rely on iframes to play the game for me aaaaaaaaaaaaa
skill issue
I don't know what you mean. It's loosely based on pinocchio, it's old italian book. Nothing to do with bloodborne
It's going to be goyslop. Look at this shit, it looks like Bioshock Infinite.
bloodborne is extremely low quality and lies of p appears to be of at least passable quality, you're right.
It's Bloodborne, except everything is worse and you have to play as a twink gay
Why is the mc such a femboy, why are western devs copying the parts of japanese games that people hate?
The SFM porn is going to be glorious.
thats the one problem with western games is that the male MCs are always fugly as sin. thankfully they're nearly all first person so you're not forced to stare at a greasy balding old man for 10 hours of your life.
STFU gay not everyone needs to be generic brown haired man with stubble or an amerimutt diversity placement.
No one needs your fagbait ladyboys. Stick to visual novels gaywad and leave the action genere alone
Lies of P plays more like Sekiro than BB.
>bloodborne aesthetics but with sekiro gameplay
You'd like Thymesia then.
Could at least use a different font, come on.
it doesnt play anything like sekiro, its got the bloodborne stamina lifesteal stepdodge and viscerals
the demo is free, did neither of you play it?
Clearly they didn't or they would mention pinocchio moves like he is permanently in a miyazaki swamp whereas sekiro is a fighter jet. People are retards and only see graphics and aesthetics they cannot into mechanics. Almost no one caught on that the parry was tied to frame rate but I noticed that shit immediately when I beat the demo at 165 then dropped it to 60 out of curiousity and laughed my ass off.
Does it become easier or harder at 60? Not that it matters to me because my monitor can't do higher than 60 anyway.
>bloodborne without character customization
And into the trash it goes
it has more weapon customization than bb does because weapons are two parts that you put together. what it loses is apparel, which is a who cares situation.
i really, really liked the demo and if the average boss quality is as high as the demo's third boss than this game is guaranteed good.
the less bloodborne it is the better tbh. Bloodborne is extremely overrated and doesn't even come close to meeting today's gaming standards. There's a reason why the only thing anyone discusses anymore about bb is the aesthetic.
What's with all the mutants and black goo on the walls? I thought the game was about androids going ballistic.
The demo has some note about something called a "petrification disease" going around so maybe that's what's happening.
the generic black slime of evilness
I hope the music is actually good and not just generic orchestral shit. The demo feels like a warning with how they could've made something emblematic of the first boss, but decided to go with even more boring fromsoft-style orchestral shlock
Feel like it's going to be on the middle part of your zoomer lingo.
Maybe it'll be good but fromdrones will hate it no matter what for daring to make a similar game, or it'll be shit and then everyone will be laughing at it.
Honestly don't know.
I just don't understand why pinocchio of all things?
Lies of P? what the fuck does this mean?
>I just don't understand why pinocchio of all things?
I guess that's just want they wanted to use as the source
>Lies of P? what the fuck does this mean?
...the lies of pinocchio, one of the central things of the original story about how lying it part of being a real boy but that doesn't mean it's a good thing. How did you not catch that?
>one of the central things of the original story about how lying it part of being a real boy
No. Lying is the main thing preventing him from becoming a real boy.
>“Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!”
Because he had to learn the lessons on the consequences of lying, just lying doesn't teach a little boy anything.
Because he's not a "real" boy. That's the entire point.
Yes but you have to make mistakes to learn from them. Half of the story is basically just morality lessons and everything is building up him understanding how to care about someone else more than himself to the point of self-sacrifice. The ending is basically an allegory for heaven as Pinocchio "died" but was reborn in a "paradise" where all the bad things miraculously got better.
Nta but you don't need to explain the book's message as it screams it in your face. If you're a disobedient boy, you will be bound, tortured and possibly killed, and that's fine as long as your behavior is corrected in the end. Collodi had no problem with subjecting Pinocchio to the cruelest shit imaginable as long as it turned him into what he saw as the ideal good little boy. There's a reason this one really famous literary critic, forget his name, basically described the book as the equivalent of "bullying someone into Heaven"
Fox and Cat turning into real cripples dying of hunger at the end was kino.
To be fair, they ARE con-men that tried to murder Pinocchio. If anyone deserves their fate, it's them.
>"bullying someone into Heaven"
That's life in general. Make bad decisions and life will treat your poorly. Make the self sacrifice to be better for everyone around you and yourself and be reborn anew.
I would argue most people don't learn those lessons through being subjected to constant cruelty.it can be and has been argued that teaching kids to be on their guard against those who would exploit or abuse them is a valuable lesson... but it's still notable that even in the cases when Pinocchio had noble intentions, and was either a victim of bad circumstances or got in trouble because he naively trusted people who didn't deserve to be trusted, the narrative will still without fail treat him as having acted maliciously and as such deserving of all the bad things that happen to him.
> Lies of P? what the fuck does this mean?
Lies of Pinocchio you absolute pea brain
>you absolute pea brain
More like P brain!
no you retard, I get it that it means lies of pinnochio.
I just don't get what is up with such a stupid concept. What could it possibly mean.
Is the player going to be uncovering the lies that pinnochio told to geppetto and the fucking cricket? Asinine concept
IIRC the idea is as follows. The game's world is full of androids, those androids can't lie. P dude is the most advanced robot guy, so he's capable of lying which sets him apart from the others. I think there's a faction of humans who want to kill P twink for that, hence that one pic with the coffin.
I don't think it's because P is advanced, I think it's because he's literally brokenbut for some reason he's not turning into a killbot like the other broken puppetsd
It's because he has a heart you utter fucking retard. You even customize it for combat.
they should have just made a game about android really. This isnt even pinnochio.
Reminds me of that alice in wonderlande game, that too tried to give a dark edgy twist to a beloved story.
I dont get the appeal, but all right, at least i get why it is called lies of p now.
Yeah, I think they just wanted to slap a public domain ip on their game to increase visibility.
The game is clearly about puppets discovering their humanity but the lying is just a small part of it. A much bigger indicator is when you kill the Mad Donkey who is a human. Pinocchio is clearly freaked out over what he did, but he shouldn't be, because puppets are supposed to be unfeeling machines. That's what it's going to be. That's what sets him apart, the other puppets discovering humanity are being driven mad by this fact while Pinocchio is scared but coming to terms with it.
>Reminds me of that alice in wonderlande game, that too tried to give a dark edgy twist to a beloved story.
...but American McGee's Alice is really fucking good. Yeah it plays a little janky but everything else is a fucking work of art.
haven't played it, really. Came to my mind mostly because of the aesthetical simirality really
I like edgy anime-pose leaning bunny girl
ah so steel rising again
From what I played of the demo (stopped after getting to the hub) it seems like throughout the game you'll have choices to lie or not that's tied into some kind of morality system.
bloodborne pinocho is the funniest concept for a vidya ever, it would be even funnier if the game is actually good.
hope for the best
brace for the worst
I think making Pinocchio a teen kinda misses the point, a huge reason Pinoke was so naive is because in the original story and film adaptations he's only supposed to be like 5-6 years old. Kids that young are filled with enough childlike wonder that they'll believe shit strangers tell them. I'm less inclined to believe it with someone that's still 15 because while 15 year olds still believe stupid shit, it's usually because they've convinced themselves they're too smart to do otherwise and that blindsides them.
I'm not up to speed with the lore of the actual game but considering he's supposed to be a puppet i assumed he was 'born' as his current form, since he was built
No you're right, he was built as a teen and he isn't a real boy yet, I'm just saying I don't think the story of Pinocchio works if he isn't a little kid so it's gonna be one hell of a deviation.
>inb4 it's already a huge deviation
Not as much as you think. Have you read the original book, it's fucking sadistic at times.
It's not suppoused to be a 1 to 1 adaptation. I doubt "being taken adventage because you are a clueless kid" will be the main point of this new pinocchio. A new version of the story deserves a new version of the protagonist.
the demo was fun
not quite up to FromSoft quality but it's got some Soul and I like what they're doing with attaching weapon handles to different weapons to change how they attack
I'll probably pick it up on a sale tho or wait to see if there's dlc and get a complete edition down the line
i'm expecting a mortal shell tier game.
I doubt. The game at least seems to have a clearer vision of what it wants and the demo, despite being mediocre, was much better than anything from MS.
I don't trust demos that much right now after how frontloaded FF16's was. So I wouldn't be surprised if Lies of P is the same. Being a day 1 GamePass title gives them a heavy incentive to make the start of the game the best part to get players hooked right away as well.
unless the non-demo parts of P is entirely Lost Izalith tier quality for the rest of the game i cannot see it being anything less than 'good' (assuming you already enjoyed the demo). Within the last 2 weeks they've uploaded a ton of weapon showcases and a boss showcase.
16's problem was the story the demo set up expectations for did not materialize, I don't know if many people really give a fuck about P's story.
mortal shell was an absolute abomination of a game.
P's demo alone was a far better experience than all the least-worst parts of Mortal Shell combined
Considering it's made by some Korean nobodies and didn't have a huge studio backing it like Nioh, it seemed pretty solid from what I played in the demo. Unless it comes out and everyone says it becomes a trashfire post-demo content, it'll most likely be a "I'll get it when it's on sale" for me.
If I have any one complaint it's that Gemini talked like a Joss Whedon character. I hope that isn't a thing for the whole game.
I want to have sex with Pinocchio
I love that one of the Weapons is just a massive pipe wrench you can smack puppets with.
So far there's definitely a variety of different Weapons and Legion Arms that I hope continue into the game proper. I've noticed that none have been Firearms outside the Falcon Eyes Legion Arm, which is an arm mounted Cannon.
I didn't see a cannon, but I did see like a sticky bomb launcher for the arm
I mean, yeah. That's true......I'm just hoping this game includes an actual working Gatling Gun. I'm still mad about how annoying it is to get Bloodborne's Gatling Gun to do decent damage.
For $20? Yeah, sure. Why not?
Having an industrial revolution setting and NOT having a gatling gun would be the biggest missed opportunity in history.
Twink Bloodborne looks hype
Give me the straight talk anons, is Steel Rising worth $20?
Yes, but only if you understand the world is gonna be fairly samey and they continually reskin the seven or so enemy types by making them look a bit more advanced while mixing up their moveset or adding delays. If you're open to reading my thoughts while I played it to 100% completion here you are.
Also, the game heavily punished certain types of gameplay and really wants you to lay damage on their posture meter to build it as much as possible.
Eh? Segs?!
If the world won't give me Bloodborne 2 I'll inevitably look in other places
im going to pirate it, because Phil Spencer already paid for my copy of the game. thank you Phil!
People should really play the demo because it doesn't quite play like BB. The movement speed is really slow and the focus is more on timed blocks because of this. The legion arms feel closer to something like the prosthetic tools from Sekiro. It basically takes influence from all of From's modern games, not just BB. That being said I actually enjoyed it somewhat so I'll probably give it a chance next week. I don't really want to rave about it but I can't heavily criticize it either. The demo was good enough that I would've kept playing if they didn't cut me off but I'll still need to play the full thing before I can really say how bad or good it is.
Pirate chads, are we getting this 9/16 or nah?
Yeah probably
Still catching up with my queue.
Its bloodborne for finooks.
i think it looks cool, waiting on reviews.
I am curious what the game means by "Your Springs React" every time you have Pinocchio Lie.
Is Pinocchio becoming more Human or is this setting up for him to become something worse?
Do not expect anything out of a korean story. You have been warned.
Only 5 days left for BussyBorne. Hope it keeps the same quality of the demo for the whole game. I really wanted to keep playing after i finished it.
I don't care what reviews say about this one, the demo was great so I'll disregarding the 6/10 reviews it gets by IGN and Gamespot which I generally do anyway.
I'm going to have to restart if the game lets me continue from my demo save because I used up the boss souls since there was nothing to do with them in the demo content.
Huh?
I just want to know if the game will make a boss out of the snake with the smoking tail. You know, that part of the book with a religious allegory that basically comes out of nowhere and is never referenced again and it's why almost no adaptation has it?
tried the demo, didn't like the movement feels very floaty/walking on ice. will try final on goypass.
it's Korean, so the former
>Your Father tells you not to let an unsavory Characters know about the Hotel.
Great, I just know someone's gonna be a secret serial killer or something and start knocking off useful NPCs.
