>oh wow I can't wait to play a 3 hour long tech demo and uhh..... games that have been out for 3+ years by now on other platforms
the struggle of being a snoy
>Meta shill arrives too quick to not blend in
nigo
Ganker is too poor for VR, you won't get your answers here.
More like shitno
Post a thread about Quest 2 and it's all nice and calm chatting about VR.
Post a thread about PSVR2 and out come all the seething gays to shit all over it
Sony deserves to be shit in.
>Sony deserves to be shit in.
why?
The same reason that any headset manufacturer who doesn't release their stack of software that enables the headset as open source deserves to be shit on except worse because it's a wired headset that can only be used on a console despite the predecessor being PCVR compatible in theory at least.
They had this great missed opportunity to introduce people to the VR market in a very gateway drug kind of way and instead it's going to hinge entirely on whatever effort Playstation can muster which wouldn't even work well either of the two major competitors (the push for Oculus games died and SteamVR was basically just Alyx if there weren't other devs) let alone someone who maintains not one but two mutually exclusive walled gardens.
Alyx is basically just a Razer Hydra tier game. Seated with tracked controllers, no headset required. A neat interaction thing but more of a VR conversion.
I'll just be glad if it boosts VR Linux support and input device cross-compatibility.
Brands can rebuild, Zach.
It's good but also sucks because you need PS5 to use it. Even same thing but for Xbox would be a more acceptable compromise.
It has the support of high profile AAA titles so it's kino.
The idea of eye tracking on an oled sounds kino. It might be the thing that finally gets me to buy a ps5, even though there's no games.
Quest 2 is getting a price cut soon right?
No, the higher end already got a price cut so this is likely what you're getting, and the quest 3 will cost more than the quest 2.
>Wired
>Locked to PS5
>One game (gt7) that's worth it
Not looking good
>OLED with minimal screen door effect that tracks where you're looking to always give you the best graphics
Games will come. Sounds like it kicks the shit out of the quest.
>Games will come
3 years into the PS5 and we got two games (gt7 and ratchet and clank rift apart), how long do we have to wait for the PSVR2 to get more games?
>exclusives are the only games
Try to build a pc that can run as smooth as ps5 for $500. You fucking can't.
two more weeks and jim ryan will unleash the ps5 kraken
>Games will come
just like for the PS5 and VR in general right?
>b-b-but it only has 1 game
and that 1 game blows the living shit out of everything else
Last I check, It doesn't have half life alyx
>Alyx
Who cares? Nobody would give a shit about it if it didn't have Half Life attached to the name. It'd just be another tech demo.
>Alyx
>Who cares?
Re-Education mod just came out, made by the Outer Wilds dev
You seem to care a lot more than me. I've had VR on PC since 2013 and not once have I wanted to play Alyx.
This is the most insane cope I have ever seen.
I have a PCVR headset. What am I coping for?
You keep trying to turn this into a PC vs PS VR competition. It isn't. I have both. PCVR is dead. Nothing has been released on it worth playing in years. PSVR has had better games released on it on launch than the PC has had in its life time.
If SkyrimVR and Elite Dangerous VR get ported to PS then my PCVR headset would be gone.
Illiterate dumbass, I said existing library matters. Even if PCVR is dead, it'll still have infinitely more games to play once Sony abandons the VR2.
PCVR is dead. Congratulations with having a library of 95% shit to play.
That was my first post in this thread. You saying that Alyx is nothing special and only is popular because of the brand name is delusional. It's certifiable. You should be institutionalized.
Alyx is nothing special. It was made to show off the Index controllers. It's basically a fucking tech demo dumped in the HL world so you suckers can cream your knickers over being able to pick shit up in awe.
Meds
Name something else on PC that impressed you in VR.
Blade and Sorcery
Skyrim with mods
Half-life 2
Is that it? A 5 year old indie game, a 12 year old game and a 20 year old game running a mod.
Glad you also agree PCVR is dead.
Pretty funny that the only retort or insult you can come up with is a literal hallucination that we are having an entirely separate argument, and at the same time, invent my perspective on that imaginary argument out of thin air.
>PC isn't dead. It has Alyx , a tech demo from 4 years ago.
What other games do you like then?
>I like B&S , a 5 year old indie game, SkyrimVR which originally released in 2011 but the VR update came out 5 years ago, and Half Life 2 VR mod, a game which came out in 2004.
So PC VR is dead then
>No, I didn't say those things. You're making it all up.
You are still imagining both the argument we are having and my side of that argument. You live entirely in a fantasy world in your own head.
You're literally being quoted and claiming you're not saying it.
Alyx isn't whatsoever impressive from a gameplay perspective, but this post is just ignoring reality.
Alyx is amazing as an experience and easily a decade ahead of other VR shooters in terms of VR implementation, polish and visuals while being an actual, fully fledged, built for VR game. It is special in that respect, and ignoring that is idiocy. I'd expect nothing less here, but it's kind of sad to see.
>Alyx isn't whatsoever impressive from a gameplay perspective,
So you agree it's a glorified tech demo just like I said. I'm so glad that's settled.
It is a bit of a tech demo, while also being a somewhat average if below average AAA game that's actually made for VR.
I think there's still a lot of value to it whatever dumb buzzwords you attach to it so you don't have to use your brain for anything.
>Alyx isn't whatsoever impressive from a gameplay perspective
>It is a bit of a tech demo,
Also
>stop using buzzwords like techdemo to describe the very thing I said isn't an impressive game and is a bit of a tech demo
How to retard.
While Alyx is a tech demo in the sense that it's meant to show off what VR can do it's also a fully fledged AAA game, even if only kind of an ok one, you writing it off as "a glorified tech demo" shows that you just lean on these terms as a way to classify everything so you don't have to think.
Then you classify me as a retard so you don't have to address any points against you, this isn't actually in your service, especially if you do this long term.
I can't imagine how much you'd cripple yourself by thinking you're always right and writing others off this way.
>stop using those very same words and phrases I used against me.
You used them first and are now are just to the point of trolling, without addressing any points. This is the kind of conversation I expect from a twelve year old, thanks for the concession and enjoy not getting more replies from me.
What is your point? Do you actually have a point? All you seem to want to discuss is Alyx being a tech demo or not, I don't give a fuck about Alyx. It's not my type of game.
All I'm saying is that PCVR is dead. All you keep saying is it's not dead as it has a 5 year old game, Alyx
Feel free to enlighten me what the fuck you're rambling about
>If SkyrimVR and Elite Dangerous VR get ported to PS then my PCVR headset would be gone.
What's the point in skyrim without mods though? Who the hell wants to play vanilla skyrim in VR when it's only good with mods that improve the VR aspect.
Im ready for full Ace Combat 8 integration
should i know what either of those words mean?
>wired in 2023
can't do wireless displayport in 2023
no wipeout no buy
so are they gonna port dreams or what?
If they haven't ported astro bot, there's no way in hell they're going to port dreams. Sorry anon, dreams is dead
Dreams was dead the moment they decided they didn't need multiplayer
>snoy shit
Cringe and soulless
They increased persistence for brightness so it's blurry
who is excited for quest 3? i am
>facebook
I'll wait for the new valve headset.
valve is done with vr
The thing I'm worried about for the deckard is what games it'll even have.
PCVR feels like a dead/slower ecosystem than quest/psvr2 so even if they come out with half life 3 for VR I wonder what other must haves there'd even be if it's just running off the pcvr ecosystem, I'm super curious to see what valve do with the deckard though.
>PCVR feels like a dead/slower ecosystem
How so, with it amount of mods.
because the last and only game released on it worth playing, so I keep getting told is Alyx.
beat saber with all those custom music mods is worth playing
It sure is, that's worth noting, but in terms of actual games how many are you really getting for pc specifically?
That's what I'm worried about, VR already has a games problem even with the other platforms, so it's worrying that valve could put out a really good piece of hardware that might just not have the software support it needs to reach it's potential.
Mods are nice, but they aren't actual games, and you've often played the game already by the time you get a mod.
Mods are 100x better than vr native games
and the reason for that is..... ?
Vr native devs don't make games for vr gamers. They only make "baby's first vr experience" and make everything easy af and babyfi everything. Vr mods are usually even better than aaa's half ass few attempts
Mildly excited, better passthrough will be nice for some things, depending on how good it is, and it being lighter and stronger is a big draw for me.
AR will be interesting to try out with more tabletop/rpg or turn based games but I think for a lot of games it will just be a gimmick that adds less than VR.
The 41 games meta has hidden are mildly promising, but probably only 4-6 of them are actually good or interesting, it's hard to know beforehand. It's too far out for me to be looking forward to it since it'll probably happen in October or so, I kind of wish I could just have one now.
Somewhat. I got a quest 1 and it's pretty cool despite it's flaws, and I'd like to get a 3 when I can afford it. I'm interested in seeing the improvements they made since I didn't get a 2.
Sony hasn't really committed to VR from what I've seen. Sure they put out a couple of games, but besides GT7 none of them were from first party studios or were even close to the level of quality of Alyx. Can't justify buying on if Sony's just gonna let it die like the Vita. If this worked on PC, it'll be a different story.
and using your own logic: PC has Alyx. A game which released 3 years ago. Nothing worthwhile has came out since. No plans to release anything in the future.
>Nothing worthwhile has came out since
come on anon, try some games beyond AAA graphics, it'll surprise you how fun they are
>states PSVR2 currently has very few AAA games and the library is currently indie-shit
Point out neither has the PC which hasn't received a AAA game in 3 years
>Come on anon. Just try some indie-shit
what?
>PSVR2 currently has very few AAA games
it doesn't have games, let alone AAA games. there's no indie exclusive to it ether
It has GT7, COTM, RE8 and soon RE4. Which is a lot more than the PC has received recently
That actually is way more than PC has been getting, AAA wise, it's missing a lot of the smaller stuff and beatsaber mods but it'll probably get a lot of those over time.
RE8 VR is also on PCVR (with mods), as well as RE2 and RE3
and Soon, RE4 as well
The RE4 demo already has a vr mod
Third person, from what I've seen.
What's the fucking point?
A VR mod put over a third person shooter is totally different than a AAA VR game mode actually made for VR from the perspective of the character.
>dude just use these shitty mods, totally the same as an official VR mode
pcuk cope
No backwards compat means the PSVR2 doesn't have a library. You can't even play superhot or minecraft. Until they expand the library, it will always have an asterisk by its name.
You base your purchase of a VR headset on if you can play superhot and minecraft? ha ha
I'd pay more not to get that a library filled with that shit
Superhot is a good beginner VR game, I don't see why you'd knock it like that.
I used to come back to superhot long after I'd finished Alyx, it's not like Alyx has that kind of replayability.
Yes I base my purchases on the library of available games that a device has rather than speculate what it could get in the future. Tell me this, has Sony announced a single first party game of this thing since it's launched?
good hardware and price but nogaems lol
Gran Turismo 7, Dark Pictures: Switchback, Village: Resident Evil, Horizon: Call of the Mountain, Resident Evil 4
What if I'm not a fan of horror games, racing games and I'm not interested in the Horizon universe?
Play more games
As a cockpit view racing game chad I am eating good with GT7. Its quite perfect
I wish I was psycho enough to play RE8. It's a good full length AAA that we need but unfortunately I am not a psycho
The horizon demo was okay but I am waiting for a sale
Havent tried anything else honestly, GT7 is enough
Zombieland is ok if you like Time Crisis games.
Light Brigade just had a graphic update too, which is ok for a little indie game.
I just a RTX 4090 Im not buying a shitstation 5.
That said I would buy this vr headset eventually if it was compatible, its a shame its limited to a fucking console.
>1 enemy type
>not launching with ps home v2 day one
its fucking dead
It’s a mixed bag. While I love VR, and I love Gran Turismo, I hate where PD went with it. There are tons of better games for PC. iRacing has multiplayer that’s leagues better. Dirt 2 has far better rally. Unfortunately, Project Cars really isn’t as tight as Gran Turismo when it comes to single player, but man, all it takes is one decent mod. Assetto Corsa is there but I’m not huge on the whole modding literally everything into place.
Project cars let’s me put whatever car I want on whatever track I want to do a chill endurance race. Going from day to night to day on Le Mans is great.
I’m all for more people experiencing VR. I think Alyx is a decade ahead of any other FPS right now. I’d like more to experience that. And that brings the bad; it’s not compatible with PC, so either you like GT7 or the thing is kind of pointless. I heard Sony had to release the source code due to being unix based, so theoretically someone could write software for it to pretend to be a WMD, but that has yet to be seen.
If it does, and puts OLED and eye tracked foveated rendering as opposed to fixed foveated rendering on the PC, then I think it could easily become the de facto best value VR headset on the market.
I’ve got my fingers crossed I can pick one up in a few years for cheap. Could be rad in MSFS2020.
My 3080 doesn’t have frame generation so aggressively foveated rendering using eye tracking could well be a way for us to pick up some decent performance without sacrificing visual clarity.
WMR*
A windows mixed reality headset.
Not weapons of mass destruction.
I feel like this is an opportunity to a Bush joke, but I might be too old.
Bino isn't a word. That said, it seems good by itself but it needs a PS5 and a cord to work. I'm a cordless only kind of guy. Might get a quest 3 if nosebook doesn't ruin it somehow.
Is it Bino Boys? I love Virtual Reality threads. When's the next one gonna be, I cant wait to see the same posts again. Absolute Kino Thread guiz
I would buy one if it came with a wifi DICK ring that you could put around your DICK and play beat saber with your DICK
honestly if they made it wireless and pc compatible it would dominate the market, but as it is seems like another waggle tires shitty console gimmick that will be forgotten in 3 months
This thing got me back into GT7 after putting it down for a year
It's definitely a massive step up from PSVR1 but if you have a PC cabable rig and a an efficient headset, it's not gonna make you jump ship but it's a strong start with probably a lot more games coming in over the next year
>599 US DOLLARS
>not backwards compatible with PSVR1 titles
Into the trash it Fucking goes
where are the titty games?
