so many controllers have bad d-pads, give me a good d-pad bros
it seems like snoy makes the best d-pads, but i don't want to get a dualsense just for the d-pad

dualsense d-pads are inconsistent as fuck tho
Dualsense dpad is goated, I have like 5 of them, just get it.
shut the fuck up retard shitters
The Xbox controllers have a really nice dpad. Great tactile feedback. It's LOUD, though.
What? They are fucking dogshit and only meant to select weapons in FPS. Have you never tried to play a retro game with it?
YOU TAKE THAT BACK YOU PIECE OF SHIT
the new xbox ones arent too bad
This is the worst opinion ever espoused on this godforsaken basket weaving forum.
>it seems like snoy makes the best d-pads
PS Vita has an amazing D-Pad if you have small hands like me
dsi has a nice dpad.
the original NES has a good dpad, the official switch controllers might be similar, but it's not the most comfortable to hold for a long time.
but if you are playing emulators, the keyboard is basically as good as the best dpads in terms of control.
Apparently its a matter of philosophy. Gamers use dpads differently. Half of us place their thumb on the middle and pivot to the extremities, favouring a soft dpad, while the others go around the extremities and prefer a clicky, stable dpad.
I'm from the second group.
The DS line in general had good dpads all the way up to the 3ds. Maybe the dsi is a bit clickier than the 3ds but its not by much.
Saturn/Genesis controller perfected the d-pad, its a must-have for shmup players.
SEGA officially produces them for modern ports so buy those, don't buy the bootlegs those tend to have plastic-y inputs instead of rubber-y feel of the legit ones.
>SEGA officially produces them
When did this start? I got a licensed controller from retrobit but the build quality left a lot to be desired.
-The absolute best: Original Sega Saturn pad (Retrobit looks the part and feels ok but has SHIT build quality and they don't last long)
-Really good: Hori's non-octa controllers
-50/50 gamble boogaloo: 8bitpoo
-Ok if you just want to select something from a menu: Sony/Microsoft
-Right at the bottom: Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.
>it seems like snoy makes the best d-pads
point and laugh
I heard this is dropping this December I wonder if its going to be any good.
Now that we could have Saturn-pad on top of a dual-stick do you think it could replace DS4 for playing games on PC?
Going to wait on what people say on those sticks before dropping any money on this myself. They look like Switch sticks and I hate Switch sticks.

The best dpad isn't even a dpad
I keep fucking up dpads playing fightan games too hard. I liked the one on the xbone elite controller though
xbox elite controller has a really good dpad imo and makes fighting games fun
not worth the retarded pricing of elite controllers though
Pads will never be able to survive real fightan game playing. If you play multiple hours a day, you'll go through couple of pads a year, at least. Might as well buy a stick/buttonbox, those things last (and are more fun to play with).
Honestly the best D-pad is DS4. Other d-pads are either too sturdy or mushy.
Probably have to agree, my second choice is maybe my gameboy sp (i thought the ds lite but after playing it recently its too mushy)
Wave bird has to be hands down the worst dpad
ehhhh, i remember the vita being better.
I've never had as many problem with a D-pad that is considered good as I've had with the DS4's. There were times in Ori where I wanted to kill myself because that fucking D-pad kept fucking me over.
I have not had issues with 8-bitdo Pro 2's D-PAD nice n comfy
Vita has the best d pad of all time. Unfortunately the shoulders are shit so I never feel confident going ham on it.
Gba sp wins instead
sega dpads.
buy an 8bitdo m80 or a retrobit big6/ eight button arcade controller if you want 2d only
if not just buy a logitech one for a controller with joysticks and more buttons with a decent dpad (even if a 2d oriented controller is best for this).
Logitech gamepads are outdated at this point. Too small, the construction of their bumpers is just shit(take one apart if you don't believe me), triggers are meh etc. but, BUT, the D-pad is better than anything I've tried.
>press down
>it's actually down left
>you die
Vader 3 Pro D-Pad is pretty good. One bad thing is that it doesn't have a proper pivot meaning if you press really hard on it you can activate all of the buttons but aside from that it's perfect. Easy to hit diagonals, responsive, easy circle motions, easy multi press, clicky but not loud.
my favorite dpad is the little clicky one on the gameboy sp
GameSIR T3S
has the same dpad than DS4, same joystick layout even, and it's cheap
Look, it might look I'm shitting you, but believe me, I'm not. Razer Raiju. It's not made anymore, so you have to snoop around for NOS ones, but it is so worth it.
