So now that the dust has settled, what caused Classic WoW to fail?

Classic is dead. Just look at the AV rooms. Not even 100 are available at the same time. This means not even 4k people are playing the game. Even if you argue “MUH NOT ALL PEOPLE DO AV” then classic has maybe 10k people online at the same time. Blizzard won’t release any numbers because the game is dead. I literally know no person who plays anymore and I quit a long time ago.

Just accept it that Blizzard killed wow and classic has so many problems like
    >no open world pvp possible because the servers are shit
    >shit spell batching
    >A LOT of minor changes (No changes btw…)
    >a lot of bugs like the dungeon raid farming bug in the most important first few weeks (all “world first” losers abused it)
    >sharding destroyed the most important beginning of wow

Also the community went to shit
    >PvP server are a no go. Horde no shoes are camping you 10:1. Also all those players who said “ONLY PVP SERVER ARE THE REAL VANILLA EXPERIENCE” are the same people who only do dungeons to level and never do anything in the open world
    >the whole community either consists of people who never talk to anyone outside their guild or only do dungeons the spell cleave style
    >no friendliness at all. Normies left a long time ago and the last few autists don’t realize that “loot council”, “mandatory requirements”, “mandatory farming op potions and other stuff” are the reason everyone who isn’t a normie and got to 60 has already left if he isn’t a turbo autist.

Classic is simply officially dead because only a few autists are left. In classic are zero normies, zero women (expect some trannies and guild master gfs who don’t really play the game and are more or less just raid logging), and zero cool people left. Not even poor homosexuals are there because of $15 each month. The only people left are literally a few losers who are to autistic to stop playing for some arbitrage reason.

      Pretty much.

Vanilla was fun for a number of reasons at the time, but some of those are no longer present in Classic. The world is far less mysterious, we understand pretty much everything about the game. This undermines some of the social aspect, which is already lessened by people coordinating through third party websites. This is further compounded by a much more goal oriented player base.

The game is still pretty decent and is not a failure, but the community is absolutely not what it was.

Did anyone honestly expect to capture the original experience in the current year? If anyone did, they're deluded.

    The community.

You cant just make the exact same game and expect people to play it the exact same way. People are obviously going to use Addons to make their experience the same as modern day WoW. No one in the right mind is going to read the quest log to find out where to go, anyone who actually wants to get 60 in a reasonable time will use Questie, then spam dungeons optimally to level up as fast as possible to get to end game as fast as possible.

If you truly want a remake of Wow classic, make Wow ll and allow absolutely zero addons.

Blizzard didn't manage server populations adequately, and 1.12 AV

Idk, I remember someone trying to get me into it back in 2004. I was like wow, I just click one thing and my guy does all the attacks automatically and I dont have to aim or anything. Then I was like yea Id never place this. I never understood how people enjoyed it to begin with.

12 million players. Countless private servers. Countless less successful clones.

    typical MMO syndromes
-datamining which snuffs all secrets out of the game day zero(in case of classic its even worse, that information was accumulated and tested YEARS before)
-perfect efficiency which is calculated from that information
-wikification which puts that information online for everyone to see
-social networks which spread that aggregated maximum efficient route to widest audience
    it's a self-sustaining negative loop.
there is not a single known mmo which can avoid it.
    the magic is gone.
    so are mmos.

That doesn't stop roguelikes being wiki'd. There will be pieces that make up things that will all be tagged and what to do with what combo.

it isn't dead you fricking moron. We're home and we're actually enjoying it. Maybe if you played some fricking games you wouldnt be making so many threads talking shit about good ones that people actually enjoy. Probably a retailshitter anyway. Frick off.

The majority of Blizzard fans are armchair activists that boycotted the game when they decided CHINA BAD in October.

if you're actively boycotting something you used to use then it isn't really armchair activism, it's just activism.

The game's been solved for over a decade and retail has turned the playerbase into a buncha autistic min-maxing tryhards. It was never going to be the same experience as when the game was new but I'm sure the people sticking with it are having fun.

Vanilla leveling and the game as an rpg is still much better than retail. The downside was the community and of course the lack of mystery. I was leveling fast and did not see a single soul out in the world questing past lvl 40 up to 60. Every zone was a ghost town because everyone was aoe dungeon spamming like there was nothing else to do. They managed to play classic wow like modern wow. I guess you could have always done that but for some reason leveling nostralious 1-60 felt more like classic than actual classic did

that was literally always the case, especially on Ganker. the only time that wasn't the case was the period of shilling between classic's announcement and release.

    >people raidlog
    >people poopsock ranks
    >battlegrounds are frustrating because of premades and missing systems like time limits, buffs on generals or flag carrier dmg increase
    >people play other games while they wait for raids
    >raidnights are fun
    >pvp is a shitshow

it is unironically exactly as it was back then
I raidlogged for a whole year back then because I did no have internet at home and my friends would play cs or ns throughout the week as well until one of them started to rank
the whole idea of people playing everyday is a modern thing with all the moronic systems like ap or azerite and people mixed their memory of the post dailies wow with classic

classic is fine and every raid will bring back people for some time up until naxx where a lot of people will say frick it and just wait for tbc servers
