2016 was okay, Eternal was worse but still above average.
Overall it's dumb to call them bad games, but it's also moronic to call them great or innovative.
>2016
10/10, rounded up. All the weapons are good. Too short and could use more maps per region, and just more maps in general. Glory kills and berserk are pretty much what I wanted. Using the basic melee attack with the butt of weapons doesn't hit hard enough I think. Environments, music, pacing, UI, and style are great. The upgrades, equipment, and runes make the game better IMO. I've only bumped into a few minor bugs and one settings tweak I had to change to get screenshots working. The skulls should do way less damage, its like 3 hits and you're dead at 200 and armor. >Eternal
I haven't gotten to Eternal yet because I'm working through ultra-nightmare in 2016 right now.
Eternal is an upgrade when it comes to gameplay and enemy design but a downgrade on basically everything else. It feels like a parody of itself half the time and the visuals are a mess.
I don't know but Halo honestly has as much if not more bad media within the franchise than good at this point, with all the good games and books being the furthest away. Maybe someone will do better than 343, but the odds are still high they'll take inspiration from something that sucks ass in the eyes of Halo fans unless they're a giga-purist and most of those already gave up during 343's reign.
the campaign feels very oil and water between the arenas and the more traditional level segments, I'm not sure how you make that work with their combat design but the way they went about it felt kind of halfassed, the stuff in between is obvious padding.
>2016
Great game, little repetitive, but still solid 8/10 >eternal
amazing, it demands more from players, but delivers some of the best combat in the AAA space.
They're both okay. Eternal's meathook is fun, however Doom 4's SSG rapes the sound barrier on firing and I love that.
I think the arena/hallway/arena level design is simply inferior to the approach to levels in classic Doom. It isn't "bad" but especially in Eternal, the arenas all blend together in my memory with the only difference being color palette.
This idea is still cooking, but I feel like Eternal emphasizes the weapons while classic Doom emphasizes the enemies, and I say that because my brain classifies all Eternal enemies into 3 categories (fodder, meathook bait, and the marauder as a default third). Whatever works for one enemy, which is to say whatever combination of movement and weapon strategy you use, will work for every other enemy in that category. At least for me, this makes Eternal much less varied than Doom II or Final Doom, where well placed Chaingunners, Mancubi, Archviles, or even just a high volume of various hitscanners can completely change what you're doing in that exact moment. In that sense, I guess the Marauder's real problem is that he's the ONLY enemy in the game that uniquely affects the player in the moment like that.
I have no idea what the frick anyone was thinking with the story and especially lore in either game. I gotta respect the dedication despite the insane cringe, especially Eternal.
irredeemable AAA-slop, doesn't look like doom, doesn't feel like doom or any id game not even rage
eternal is the same just doubled down on the stupid fricking gimmicks and slightly less moronic balance
It's been several years. The dust settled, had a family, took out a loan for a small business, which failed and caused him to move in with his family while he gets a new job.
Great games, Ganker is just full of contrarian nostalgia gays. Won't get any (you)'s out of me if you wanna say otherwise by the way, not worth my time.
The thing is all of the contrarians are the kids who weren't around when Doom actually came out and praise it as the holy grail. The fact is all of the games are enjoyable in some way. t. 40 year old Doomer
It was pretty great especially at the time it came out. I haven't played it again after Eternal came out...still a little worried I won't like it as much anymore.
That's okay, we got a good re-release of Quake by nightdive and some cool maps by machinegames so I'm happy.
Better than eternal in atmosphere and story but worse in term of gameplay, everything is too slow and the bigger enemy is a bulletsponge. If they added dash, doom eternal jump height and weakpoints in 2016 it would be 10/10
2016 also had better levels. I'm playing through the first Eternal DLC and man, the part in the station made me miss the UAC hard. Eternal's levels feel like they were made without any thought whatsoever.
Don't forget the N64 tier platforming, who the frick thought it was "cool and badass" thing to put in a doom game? Hugo needs a tighter leash like in Doom 2016, otherwise his autism and söi-ness leaks pretty badly.
2016 was great and kept the same spirit as the originals.
Eternal felt way too arcade-like and kinda forced you into a single playstyle. Not to mention they went full moron with the story. Never even bothered finishing it.
this board was filtered hard by eternal. cant imagine how you can claim the best game of the decade to be so bad. >WWWWAHHH NO THE JUMPING PUZZLES
okay? can you not solve it baby?
>game of the decade when the decade isn't even half over >calls people filtered when the thread's been mostly polite and no one complained about Eternal's gameplay
Why are you like this?
Jumping puzzle is okay, the way they presented is absolutely repulsive. A flying spinning chain? Really? What is this super Mario? If it was replaced with a spinning damaged helicopter blades or half destroyed mech arms it would make sense and no one will complain.
6/10
i cant believe they followed this up with a game half as shitty as Eternal. they should have did Quake after 2016.
2016 was okay, Eternal was worse but still above average.
Overall it's dumb to call them bad games, but it's also moronic to call them great or innovative.
It was fun, but I don't know why you have to load a mask to change difficulty, that's dumb, and the funko pops are cringe
how much of a jealous unskilled scrub do you have to be to make this webm?
first time i got in one of these before the copy pasta

Are the developers of this game qualified to make Halo games?
Pretty much anyone is more qualified than 343
Let it end, man.
What am I supposed to play?
I don't know but Halo honestly has as much if not more bad media within the franchise than good at this point, with all the good games and books being the furthest away. >are they qualified
yes.
>should they
probably not unless no one better can be found.
DOOM 2016 dabs on zoom eternal
>Doom 2016
Amazing game, love it to death
>Doom Eternal
Complete fricking dogshit designed by a barely conscious child

Just. Stop.
>Just. Stop.
No. I. Won't.
2016 is fun. My only issue is it takes a bit too long to get all the weapons so upon replaying the first few missions are bland

I hated it at first but warmed up to it. Prefer it 1000000% more than Eternal.
Doom > Doom II > Doom 64 > Doom 2016 > Zoom Eternal = Doom 3 > Brutal Doom
>Zoom Eternal = Doom 3
No
Yeah that isn't fair to Doom 3, my bad.
Doom > Doom II > Doom 64 > Doom 2016 > Doom 3 > Zoom Eternal > Brutal Doom
Fixed :-3
It's good
>what do we think of Nu-Doom?
Console goyslop that compeltely ruined the franchise for all eternity.
irredeemable AAA-slop, doesn't look like doom, doesn't feel like doom or any id game not even rage
eternal is the same just doubled down on the stupid fricking gimmicks and slightly less moronic balance
Gives me headaches.
Born after Doom came out in 1993? You are not entitled to an opinion on any Doom game.
I was born in 1985, and Doom 3 is my favorite Doom game.
hell yes
Born almost 10 years after.
like both but i find myself shifting to classic DOOM more, though that could be just the amount of content.
Just frick off, child.
How about i don't cause its the topic of the thread.
No?
Doom was never that good
It's been several years. The dust settled, had a family, took out a loan for a small business, which failed and caused him to move in with his family while he gets a new job.
Game is a 9/10
it was fun but had no replay value. I would have preferred more interesting level design, an FPS struggles to be interesting without good mapping imo
less than half of players finished the campaign. so many people were filtered by a challenge. i love it.
Great games, Ganker is just full of contrarian nostalgia gays. Won't get any (you)'s out of me if you wanna say otherwise by the way, not worth my time.

I'm still unsure, I'll just always prefer the serene simplicity of classic doom
Why are there two new Doom games but no new Quake?
It's good, I don't want them to ruin it
Doom has consistent enough identity. Quake 1-4 makes the entire Doom franchise look like it was roadmapped from day 1.
It was pretty great especially at the time it came out. I haven't played it again after Eternal came out...still a little worried I won't like it as much anymore.

These games have extremely overhyped soundtracks, they're ok, but nowhere nearly as good as most gamers seem to think
Boring. I hate the whole arena thing.
2016 was great and kept the same spirit as the originals.
Eternal felt way too arcade-like and kinda forced you into a single playstyle. Not to mention they went full moron with the story. Never even bothered finishing it.

listen i get it we all make mistakes but just admit you were filtered

Zoomer shooter
it's basically quake with a doom theme.
it's dece
