Funny thing is Sephiroth always thought he was special. He just didn't know how or why

Am I the same as all these monsters......

        Cloud

        Cloud
        Human!? No way!

Because he was lied to about Lucrecia. He had Jenova cells inside him, and used Jenova's power of Reunion to strengthen himself. To say he was mind controlled by Jenova or visa versa is to miss the reality that he more or less became Jenova's next form of evolution. He looked down on humans, especially those who weren't Cetra "traitors" - So even if he knew about Lucrecia he would have viewed her as little more than a vessel for his body while Jenova was held in stasis. He was also just kind of a creepy weirdo, not some god in human form.

I just wanted to clarify that Jenova isn't an illusion or a figment of Sephiroth's mind. Jenova is her own entity. An alien. Chopping it to bits does not kill it and each piece is sentient and can change its shape. So when you find Jenova's missing head. Or "sephiroth" throws a limb at you. That's Jenova changing her shape either to look like Sephiroth or to look like the monsters you fight.

Note that the Reunion is the need for all the separated pieces of Jenova to reunite. Even if you put her cells in another person. The cells will just try to usurp the minds of their hosts to force them back to wherever the Reunion is happening. Hojo brought Jenova's body to Shinra Tower thinking the Reunion would happen wherever it was located. But the body itself moved after Cloud was jailed in Shinra Tower. They're all converging on Sephiroth's body in the northern crater

Professor Gast named that organism, Jenova...

X Year, X Month, X Day. Jenova Project approved. The use of Mako Reactor 1 approved for use...

My mother's name is Jenova... Jenova Project... Is this just a coincidence?
Professor Gast... Why didn't you tell me anything? ...Why did you die?"

Dr. Gast initially thought Jenova's corpse was an Ancient. Because he wrote that report before he spoke with Ifalna, and then he abandoned Shinra immediately after getting her pregnant, the reports in Nibelheim were never updated. So Sephiroth thought he was the descendent of the Cetra until he fell in the lifestream and understood that Jenova was an alien, not a Cetra

Well sephiroth is the apotheosis of shinra's evil. Because the thing is that unlike most people, the Shinra president and Hojo know full well what they're doing with the lifestream reactors. And rather than find enlightenment through the Cetra legends, instead they bastardized it to create what they hoped would be a child that could hear the voice of the planet, that could lead them to the promised land, so they could use him to make infinite money.

    It's really simple.

Sephiroth was a baby born of Hojo cucking Vincent and impregnating Lucrecia. That's the thing that most people miss about Vincent - All these edgy 12 year olds that set their profile picture to Vincent are roleplaying as and identifying with a cuckold. Shinra didn't even do anything unjust to Vincent, he just hid himself away and let it happen. He practically watched the moment Hojo shoved his gangly muscled science wiener into his beloved Lucrecia and ejaculated sufficient that she became pregnant. He may as well be the omega cuckold. Like, Vincent is perhaps the most thoroughly cucked protagonist in any video game. b***hboy probably beat off to the thought of it in his coffin.

Anyway, Hojo also stuffed a tube of Jenova into Lucrecia's womb because that gets him off. He did this because he thought Jenova was a Cetra like Aerith, who could lead his company to the promised land. Sephiroth found out about this and went coocoo, and went to rescue Jenova from her prison. Cloud proceeds to kill Sephiroth in the Mako reactor, and both Sephiroth and Jenova fall into the Life Stream where they proceed to flow to the Northern Crater where Jenova first landed. See, Jenova is basically The Thing from John Carpenter's The Thing. The Life Stream was carrying particles of Jenova back to the source of Jenova while also trying to heal the wound her crater left in the planet. But because Sephiroth still had his ego as a part of Jenova, he was able to stay crazy and angry and manifest himself through other people infused with Jenova cells. Because they were both in the Life Stream, saying Sephiroth or Jenova are in control is meaningless, they synthesized. That's what Jenova Synthesis is all about, that's what the whole point of vagueness during the ending is about.

Like you're not supposed to know if it's Jenova's reunion bringing the Life Stream to the northern crater or if it's actually a natural part of the planet's healing process. Both are true.

However he misunderstood his circumstances. Reading all that shit in Professor Gast's office led Sephiroth to mindfrick himself, he went and did what Jenova wanted to do anyway.
After he and Jenova's head fell into the Lifestream, Sephiroth and Jenova eventually used the rest of Jenova's body to orchestrate shit outside.

To be fair: after Sephiroth's death she became more intelligent. At first she just preyed on people and fed by infecting life around her. In the game she not only discovered how to use magic but also how to game the system to feed on all of the lifestream at once. Or maybe it was Sephiroth's plan

      "Sephiroth
      It's simple.
Once the Planet is hurt, it gathers Spirit Energy to heal the injury.
The amount of energy gathered depends on the size of the injury.

...What would happen if there was an injury that threatened the very life of the Planet?
Think how much energy would be gathered!

Ha ha ha. And at the center of that injury, will be me.
All that boundless energy will be mine.
By merging with all the energy of the Planet, I will become a new life form, a new existence.
Melding with the Planet... I will cease to exist as I am now...

There are 3 sources of information to understand Jenova: Shinra Manor Basement at Nibelheim, Gast's House at the glacier, and Lucrecia in her stupid cave
    1. In Shinra Manor, Sephiroth is reading reports when Gast and Hojo first found Jenova. It is concluded that Jenova is a Cetra. Hojo and the rest of Shinra told Sephiroth that his mother's name is Jenova, so Sephy thought if Jenova = Cetra, Sephiroth = Cetra. Then he began to ethnically cleanse Nibelheim.
    2. At Gast's house, Cloud's team find video logs from Professor Gast and Ifalna after Gast deserted. This is the only source of information confirming that Jenova is not a Cetra: Ifalna tells the story of Jenova being a shape-shifting space monster that killed most of the Cetra. As Hojo killed Gast and Ifalna, evidently never checking the camera logs, nobody at Shinra knows this fact. Shinra and Seph still believe Jenova is a Cetra.
    3. Lucrecia tells Vincent Hojo was so good in bed that he let her microwave her baby with Jenova cells. Thus, Sephiroth was born of Hojo and Lucrecia. Jenova isn't even his mom, just a strain of AIDS he got infected with that made him emo.
Conclusively, we can state that Hojo told Seph his mom was Jenova in order to bully him for fun. Both of them are fricking idiots.
As for the mind control thing Sephy did commit Nibelheim but FF7 doesn't explain if Sephy or Jenova was in control after merging in the Lifestream. Compilation claims Sephy is cool so he was in control but Compilation is gay so...

Even if you take only the original FF7, the project was so stressed that one could accept a revision or correction made in an interview or Ultimania guide, but then, the gates are opened and we might as well take DoC into consideration.

The expanded stuff just makes FF7 more flaccid and stupid with each entry. Like DoC establishes that there an Omega Weapon that would've carried the Lifestream to another planet in case of emergency. Which just raises the question of what was the point of Holy. And why wasn't Omega deployed after Sephiroth made Holy stall?

that was jenova disguising herself. sephiroth was in a stasis in the mako fountain when cloud stabbed him in the gut and threw him in the reactor in Nibelheim. why are people so stupid they don't understand this.

To be fair, the translation is kind of fricked in a few places

Jenova is not her, it's it, a virus. The only reason it's portrayed as a woman is because it's the body of Cetra woman Jenova infected before it was sealed by the Cetra people

That virus was hot though. Imagine sucking on her titty and then it winks at you
frick FF7R and Compilation for making it a pain to find images of Jenova from FF7 online.

Sephiroth was boring and poorly written like every other jrpg antagonist. But because of nostalgia you will deny the truth.

Sephiroth himself isn't interesting. Sephiroth's effect on things around him, especially Cloud, is interesting

His buildup as a final villain (Or more accurately hurdle) was amazing though
