So we have AvP classic, AvP 2, and AvP 2010.
Do you think we'll ever get another one?
So we have AvP classic, AvP 2, and AvP 2010. Do you think we'll ever get another one?
So we have AvP classic, AvP 2, and AvP 2010.
avp2 is probably one of my favorite games, the single player was good and the multiplayer was better
Yeah it was the game the got me into lan parties. This and unreal tournament 2004 were my shit.
Yeah. The alien felt great to play mp and had a great story mode. Sucks we probably won't get another good avp game.
we only have avp gold, avp2, the arcade games, concrete jungle, and extinction
they havent made any other avp games since then
I never played this game since they did the patch, but when those aliens showed up they were legit the only thing that actually worked in the game and they swarmed me and came directly up to my face and kind of trapped me there and I was really high and I couldnt even move because they were stuck cause of the stupid broken ai and it was kinda scary in that I was literally trapped as I was so high being unable to do anything while my brain was looping itself, which made me super uncomfortable.
from what I remember its like multi-licensed to hell
I think even disney owns avp or some part of the avp universe circa like 6 months ago or so
they are probably paranoid because everyone who touches the avp franchise in the past doesnt even read the books or films their movie entirely in pitch black darkness without any lighting at all because fuck you, flat out makes up random shit like predators wanting to inject autism or androids making the xenomorphs completely ignoring the ancient order of aliens engineers and predators with the preds seeding the xenos across planets because fagpley made up that larp fanfiction after his brother anheroed and in his tard despair he wanted to make some fantasy fiction where the engineers padawaned jesus and we killed jesus and thus we 7 billion deserve to die like all their other failed creations because of what a group of like 40 garden gnomes did 200,000 years ago and a 120 year old man being grouchy about not wanting to die. So with this failure following the series, everyone is afraid of using money on the series.
Did you watch Prey? Was it any good? I didn't watch it because in my mind I couldn't think of a way they could do the predator justice in it but if it is any good I'll watch it.
Also, was Concrete Jungle any good or just ps2 era jank?
Nta but it was pretty good if you don't mind the main character being a chick
Nah, I don't mind. And it seemed like they chose the Native American setting out of genuine interest in telling that story from what I've heard. As long as they don't make the predator retarded to make it work I'm all for it.
its no machinko movie and its a tiny bit ME INDIAN ME BIGGUM SMOKEM DEM ALIENS cheesy but its like not as good as django unchained. Its like a 3.5 star movie like watching Jurassic park or phantom menace, where youd watch it once or twice because you forgot what happened exactly. "The Predator" movie is fucking horrendous youtube poop tier meme catchphrase thomas churchill ammityville shit and predators is like a decent sci-fi channel flick. From what I remember, a lot of the movies got "customized" by their "directors" and they abandoned a lot of the scripts. I think predators is semi-cannon and dutch (arnold) is supposed to meet up with them after that movie takes place or they get back to earth and meet dutch but they dont get that far in the story in the movie, so it would need a part 2. I cant remember. Or they scrapped that part of the script and its just either its own thing or some weird non-cannon now canon movie like covenant and prometheus. Prey is a little bit marvel disbelief where the indian girl is a little unrealistic. Shadiversity made a video where he tried to do indian girl's weapon thing for hours hurting himself and thats kind of interesting to watch but yeah. Prey does sync up a bit with the comics and predator 2, so its partially cannon at least.
Holy shit I forgot there was another movie between Predators and Prey. Holy fuck The Predatoe was bad.
Why is it seemingly so hard to make a good predator movie or game?
oh sorry i got the shower running and i forgot but also concrete jungle is a little difficult control wise than you want it to move, but once you get the hang of it, its fine. The story is pretty nice and you get to hunt people, predators, aliens in this city. Its kind of like the same level of clunky controls youd get with like san andreas with that learning curve of annoyance until you dont even notice it once you get the hang of it. You get to customize your predator and I think theres multiple ways to do things where you can do it silent, melee, or blast the shit out of everyone. But its good. Just like extinction is different in that its an rts and a bit weird to control, but fine once you get the hang of it and you get that avp experience of bringing each faction out and murdering all the rest. Both are decent storywise.
I'm pretty immune to jankiness in old games so I'll give Concrete Jungle a shot. Extinction is a game I used to play a shit ton of. Would down cans of Amp energy drink back when it was made by Mountain Dew or whatever and came in the skinny predominantly black cans with green accentuation since it reminded me of the color scheme of the case. The formula changed when some other company started making it I think because I distinctly remember the taste of old AMP and Aliens Vs Predator: Extinction being married in my mind.
Prey is the best Predator movie we've had in ages,
My only real gripe was how convoluted the plan to kill the predator was and how it relied on the mask and pinpoint precision to land him in the perfect spot for it all to happen.
i like how her brother needed her to wound the Cat to kill it and she needed her brother to wound the predator for her to best it.
The setting was good too, with french trappers there and all, it was a good attempt at trying something different.
Unlike THE Predator which seems like they'd only watched aliens vs predator movies and were making a direct sequel to them.
Best of all the games, Fantastic Ride, Came out of nowhere because everyone was just expecting trash cause of CM.
>Aliens: Fireteam Elite
Good attempt, a lot of the new guns felt like they fit the universe, it just felt like there was no real endgame
>Aliens: Colonial Marines
Almost shat the bed and killed the franchise, i think had isolation not been coming out so soon, absolutely no one would touch it.
>Aliens: Dark Descent
I am really curious about how this would go.
I always wondered why there was never a Space hulk style Aliens game where you are commanding the squad from a van or whaterver, seemed a no brainer to me
I loved Isolation and I'm curious about Dark Descent.
Sucks that the only modern Predator game is Hunting Grounds and while it seems like it fits the idea of predator, I don't care about one vs many multiplayer or even multiplayer at all. I'd like a good singleplayer predator game.
>Best of all the games
It was decent, both the main girl and the predator are a bit OP, but it is what it is.
I still haven't played Concrete Jungle though it's in my backlog and have been considering starting it soon, is it any good?
>"while my brain was looping itself"
Acid or psilocybin?
just weed where you loop because your thoughts are stuck in repeat since that part of your brain is chemically oversaturated or whatever and incapable of stopping unless you can switch the idea out
>engineers trained Jesus
Is this real or are you making up hilarious retardation
its uh real one sec...i gotta find it
page 135 is the scene where david and the engineer talk
heres an overview of it in video form
I'd go play avp2 mp because mods for that game are just fantastic
why is avp 2 not on steam?
yeah but why is it not on steam?
Omg anon it's very janky and clunky like don't play it, just go play Fartnight instead.
why can't you fucking answer the question you colossal retard, just tell me "it's not on steam because of licensing issues"
Possibly could be a rights issue over the game
Licensing issues just like NOLF games. Also the reason why there won't be any sort of remaster or similar to it since nobody wants to relinquish their ownership even if it rots in the vault for the next century.
your greatest hope is some indie dev locking himself in his room and doing a recreation or spiritual sequel that ends up good because when offered a publisher deal he said fuck off and released it, open source in the space of 2 years
I am willing this into existence. It might take a while but I will spawn this from sheer willpower alone.
Give it time, if System Shock can come back after the rights hell it went through then AVP will as well. Whether it will be in a form people want however, that is the question.
Even if we did it wouldn't be even remotely as good as AvP2, completely putting aside the battle pass.
I've only played the alien campaign of 2 and it blew the alien campaign from the original out of the water. How do the marine and predator campaigns in 2 stack up to their counterparts in the original?
Marine campaign is (arguably) the best one. I'm not fond of Pred campaigns much at all, but if you enjoy seeing a skull counter go up with the headshots you make, you might disagree.
I still prefer the pred campaign to the alien one since the power fantasy felt a little more complete. I felt I was able to utilize the strengths of the predator a lot more easily than with the alien. I've always preferred the action horror aspect of the marine campaign to the others so I'll save the marine campaign for last in 2.
It definitely can be as a marine (I'm assuming going by my experience with the first game and what others say about it). It's what makes the Aliens: Colonial Marines such a travesty.
Does anyone know if in the second game enemy Predators can activate their bomb like in the original if you take too long to finish them off once they're down?
I dunno even as predator it gave me anxiety
I like how you can still get snuck up on if you're using the wrong vision mode. Xenos are scary no matter what.
>Does anyone know if in the second game enemy Predators can activate their bomb like in the original if you take too long to finish them off once they're down?
From what I remember there is one such occurrence. He activates it no matter what, you just need to escape in time.
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP
it was actually me spear predator
Any more killer art? Just set this one as my phone wallpaper.
If you use anything other than wristblades, combi, or untracked disk, u r a big gai
u must also make the clicking uvula noise constantly and optimus prime transforming noises and K.a.r.r. and Eeyore noises
AVP2 was the last good game either franchise will ever get. Back when games were exclusively for discriminating tastes and in-depth gameplay. Now it's for as many casuals as they can scoop up with a game's brand recognition.
>the alien in avp 2010 cant even jump
>tfw the fucking awful l4d2 hunter was better than the avp 2010 alien
>the zoomers think the 2010 alien mechanics for wall movement and leaps was good
>predator was a fucking quicktime event for jumping
Absolutely fucking retarded.
AvP has always been about high mobility. They literally robbed the game of the one thing it was about.
I'm sick of pretending things aren't made worse on purpose, it has to be, I refuse to believe game devs are this retarded.
>you will never run in a spiral preleaping to dodge a plasma bolt to climb around a building to get the angle to 25 pounce a human back in the direction you started from
>we will never get avp2 BUT EVEN MORE MOBILITY where the alien gets multi-chain pouncing like the hunter
I remember people used to try and play avp2 and they couldnt even play alien because theyd literally get dizzy from all the wall movement
>people think games like apex are EXTREMELY MOBILE
>literal clunky exosuit mechs larping as mobile people
>I remember people used to try and play avp2 and they couldnt even play alien because theyd literally get dizzy from all the wall movement
I heard this too and I never understood it. I wish game devs weren't afraid to call people pussies and just stick to what they made. Personally I fucking loved zooming around at the speed of sound with a fisheye lens on my face as the Alien in AvP classic, it's a CHALLENGE to control and games are all about challenge. Or they used to be at least.
Growing up on Classic I thought the AvP2 alien was even a bit clunky.
>pouncing upside on an arc after exiting a building through a window to headbite a marine midair on a catwalk
Headbites were a kino game mechanic. Great health reward but tricky to pull off and no cursor.
Then they made it into a QTE.
Of course it's on purpose. They need to get the most money out of an investment.
this game was scary as fuck iirc
We really just need AVP 2 multiplayer with updated controls and gunplay and graphics. The rest is negligible .
>AvP '94 a.k.a. Jag AvP
>AvP '01 a.k.a. AvP 2
Which one Ganker?
avp2 on mplayer was easily best game
This. 4 team combat with classes and atmospheric as fuck maps that could easily have been scenes in one of the movies? Optional lifecycle aliens? Fucking incredible.
>Three campaigns, with each species' story intersecting at key moments
>Laughably unbalanced but insanely fun multiplayer
Six, counting the expansion.
we don't talk about the expansion.
i also found out recently all the AvP2 audio files are in easily extracted .wav format
Was Primal Hunt actually bad? I didn't hate it when I was playing through it, I don't think.
Not offensively bad, but incredibly monotonous with infinite swarms of xenomorphs again and again.
To be fair I recall the OG Predator's campaign towards the end was kind of like that, but I remember the level design being interesting at least. In particular I remember a large underground cave with a very long pipeline stretching across a chasm. When you're about halfway across the pipeline, swarms appear at either end and start rushing towards you along the pipes. You can pick off a few with your speargun before they get in melee range.
Primal Hunt's Predator campaign on the other hand was basically copy-pasted caves fighting the same swarms over and over.
I remember the main Marine campaign, I don't remember Tanya's corporate campaign beyond something in the shower and her boyfriend being dead.
I also remember one of the predator campaigns being an absolute bore. 360 degree motion detector is sort of nice in multiplayer, but in campaign it took away from the atmosphere imo.
The difficulty was all over the place, easy was hard enough, medium super hard, and hard nearly impossible. Guess this is what happens when players complain about challenge, they get their wish and then shit on your game for it.
remember back in the day it was pretty negative. even the multiplayer maps were awful. the free dlc map pack for the core game was alot better
It's okay. As long as you have more/higher skilled Aliens players, things work fine. Even something like 1v1v2 is decent as long as the two Alien players aren't significantly better.
Easily AvP2 although the preceding games are good too. Primarily for LAN but SP is great too.
>perhaps the best possible movie IP that can be translated well into video games
>has even inspired tons of video games
>mostly shit footnote games
>not a single GOAT 90+ scoring game worthy of singing its praises ever released for the IP
W H A T W E N T W R O N G?
>So we have AvP classic, AvP 2, and AvP 2010.
>Do you think we'll ever get another one?
no, afaik the license is in hell or some shit.
Here, Ganker, have a painting I had commissioned years ago.
tired of isolationcels saying 20 hour hide and go seek is better tan AVP
xenomorphs dont have eyes dumdum
they do when its a dead cat in its mouth reflecting its eyes and its pretending to be the cat as it hops over to you
Man, AvP2 multi-player was some good times, I remember being good with the sniper and killing shit not scoping in since it always fired in the middle of the screen.
the pulse rifle scared me
the sniper rifle was really satisfying
A guy with that rotary machinegun inside a narrow corridor was effectively GG for Alien players.
We need Aliens: Isolation
Every developer is instead doing their own L4D clone
Isolation did its thing, and it was good. But we don't need any more like it. Unless if "ROUTINE" ever comes out, because I'll happily purchase the fuck out of that if it doesn't stay vapor.
With the news yesterday that Disney is sitting on a completed AvP anime series and said it will never be released, it is safe to assume the answer is no.
Natural Selection 2 DLC
The motion detector in AVP2 made shit tense as fuck. Scariest game as a kid
Hopefully never. Disney would make sure it would suck.
And in the end both franchises were ruined. One by its own creator and the other by people shoving in more and more bullshit.
And then we have the 2nd level as Frosty where you go into an Alien hive to get back Hall...and then level 5 where we go into an even larger hive...and the last two levels of the Marine Campaign where you go in yet again but this time piloting A.L.I.C.E. only to abandon the suit before fighting the Alien Queen, and getting the hell out of doge while hordes of xenomorphs are after you...
The Marine Campaign was THE intense moment.
I USED TO PLAY AVP EXTINCTION LIKE AN ADDICT IN MY EARLY YEARS
I LOVED THAT GAME
>that one moron who would always use sniper rifles and plasma caster spam
>that one gay who always goes for the tracking rocket launcher, rocket-suicides when hit in melee, has a dot taped to the center of the screen when using the sniper, and hides facehuggers in ammo boxes
Fuck those people. Gawd I hated that shit. Most unfun shitbags to play with.
Didn't rapid-clicking the pulse rifle massively increase its DPS? I recall some complaining it even caused server lag too
like 4x the dps yeah
Yeah stagger fire. The game was extremely unbalanced but the only thing banned on nearly every server was the plasma pistol.
Did you know that you can evade the predator disc if you duck before it comes (so it comes low) and the moment is reaches you duckjump to the side. At least that is how i remember it.
>*laughs in untracked disc*
>hop on avp classic a few years back
>theres a server up
>immediately hit it off with a few of the folks on there in the chat reminiscing about playing back in the day
Played the start of the Alien campaign in AvP2 at a friends house when I was like 9 or 10 and I was scared of xenomorphs coming to jump me in my sleep for years after.
Something I drew a long time ago for a mstaint thread. Good times.
Was that map called "Hangar" or something? I remember the Queen alien stomping through the halls when we played lifecycle.
Fox basically nuked the whole IP by making AWFUL movies and the lacklustre 2010 game, then Ridley Scott killed whatever interest was left in the Aliens franchise with Prometheus and Covenant, meanwhile Predator got ruined by the movie with the autistic kid (I've not seen Prey though, but I hear it's OK)
there's probably not much profit left in the franchise because of how bad they ran it into the ground; I still think there are some core dedicated fans who would buy it, but nowhere near enough to make it a viable business venture for modern retard publishers to approve
Does anyone see a pattern here, games published by Fox interactive tend to be good and of the highest quality?
>games published by Fox interactive tend to be good and of the highest quality?
do they even still exist?
also they published Die Hard Trilogy in 1996, so it's not like everything they made was gold
The server messages in AVP2 mp for kills/suicides were fun. One that's burned into my memory forever
>You ripped a goat's ass apart!
>Do you think we'll get another game?
Not while Disney owns the right. They seem almost autistically averted to letting alien and predator crossover
Not like Disney is making good decisions for any of its franchises anyways. I wouldn't trust them to put a technically competent team who loves games on anything they make.
What was this guy's fucking problem?
His predecessor died to alien acid.
Ronald Weasley and his pronunciation of "Leviosa"
>it's pronounced "zee-no-morph"
Had to resort to cannibalism which messed with his mind, then his dad recorded his consciousness and put it into a droid which even further messed him up. Then he vowed revenge on the aliens as the cost of human life.
>Do you think we'll ever get another one?
both franchises have been run into the ground
who even cares anymore
This was the game that got me into piracy. I remember wanting to play it so bad, but I couldn't find it anywhere for some reason. It needs a modern re-release too. Getting this on Steam would boost the multiplayer even if it's only for a few days.
>Getting this on Steam would boost the multiplayer even if it's only for a few days.
At what cost? The retards have their brains so eroded by complacency that they can't look up basic information and are upset when told to fuck off because of that.
