So what was Martin's involvement in Elden Ring? Do we know what did he really do for Miyazaki? People say he wrote just some item descriptions but it sounds like bullshit. I always thought he and Miyazaki both wrote entire lore of the game, like, Miyazaki explained to him Souls games lore and story and told him that he wants to do something similar but in new universe and Martin helped him with some fresh ideas

GRRM wrote the backstory, meaning the Greater Will, the demigod family lines, and the Shattering. Miyazaki wrote the 'plot', the events that happen from the rising of the Tarnished. Did you enjoy Elden Ring's plot more than its backstory?

Gwyn dividing his soul was very different, that was a gesture of gratitude to his loyal subjects and would-be leaders. Gwyn linking the fire is comparable to the Shattering of the Elden Ring, only a lot more happened in between things in ER

he came up with the premise and lore (you can tell from the political aspect to the shattering and shit as well as a fascination with fingers) and then FromSoft took his shit and made it literal.
Playing Elden Ring, there's a pretty clear cut symbiosis in there between Miyazaki's vagueness and Martin's specifity. You get all that nebulous cosmology about otherworldly forces with names like "Golden Order" and "Destined Death" and "Greater Will" from Miyazaki, and then you get all that extremely specific stuff about all sorts of noble houses with their elaborately designed crests and political marriages and warring heirs and incestuous undertones that clearly screams Martin.
Sure, some aspects are hard to clearly attribute to Miyazaki or Martin, but with plenty of them it's blindingly obvious.
