Do you guys think this will come back to bite sony later? I mean is not a good thing to lie to their shareholders
>the three major console brands are red, green and blue
Is real life actually just a kid's game?
>rgb
Pretty outdated. We need a cmyk console war
Coney Dog Console
Man Machine
Yellow Swirl
Kommando Kube
Names DONE
In this case, I'm assuming craigslist listings
>strongest brand
how do they even measure that nonsense, in ad money wasted?
social media engagement unironically.
but you can easily fudge those with chinese bot farms?
shareholders don't know how computers work anyway
God it actually might be that
I guess this is where snoys for a moment were using Twitch and youtube numbers as game sales
That's still such a bizarre way to at success because luigi's mansion 3 has outsold most PlayStation exclusives and that game YT trailers are lower than of alot of PS trailers.
And then there Animal Crossing that for some reason really made snoys on twitter seeth for a while for some reason
None of that matters, Sony gets paid in ESG. Their shit can sell nothing, and it still would be profitable due to towing the BlackRock line. Corporations don't need customers anymore, huge conglomerates and governments with infinite money can keep them afloat forever if they do as told.
>ESG
That shit has to run dry eventually right, all these companies just keep warring untold billions on flop after flop in the name of ESG bullshit with nothing to show for it and yet the cash keeps flowing somehow.
>bank spends money on stupid BS
>bank runs out of money
>government bails it out because the bank's collapse would be a national disaster
>bank spends money on stupid BS
>repeat forever
Those blackrock gays has as much influence on Sony as they do nintendo. As in, less than Saudi fucking arabia. The issue is with sony's massive western hemisphere boner within different media.
>snoys would rather watch games than play them
Wow, you would have thought.
Literally the same tracking model that is destroying hollywood, lel
>They are talking bad about our game, that means they are engaged
its literally the reason why wow and blizzard games are shit.
>our gameplay metrics show x amount of people do y content which means they love it even though z public discussion shows otherwise
LOL they are literally using the same shit type of metric they used to claim that they were as popular as instant pot lol
https://www.prophet.com/relevantbrands-2022/
1. Apple
2. Peloton
3. Spotify
4. Bose
5. Android
6. Instant Pot
7. PlayStation
8. Fitbit
9. TED
10. USAA
>Peloton
Wasnt that company crashing and burning?
Bruh that would be the most worthless thing to use as a serious metric unless you were deliberately just trying to cover up some other failure because Sony fanboys are fucking rampant on all the major social media websites, e.g. twitter, reddit, etc. They'll even fucking hijack Nintendo or Xbox-related stuff to their own ends, or stuff they perceive to be a threat(i.e. Indiana Jones when that didn't even have any platforms announced for it).
It's like prostate cancer, it's not a question of if, it's a matter of when a major gaming space just gets hijacked by Sony fanboys. The only place that's actually immune to it by virtue of its impermanent, transient nature is Ganker.
At least the "best selling console when Jupiter is in the house of capicorn or whatever" statements is at least a concrete metric, as asinine as it is.
>social media engagement unironically.
So they're telling their investors FUD, essentially.
>you cant lie to investors.
>but you can make up all sorts of bullshit and muddle data without any legal repercussion
I wonder how sony is doing behind closed doors since the last time they acted like this was back when they were bleeding money from diferent divisions and we did found out till the sony hack
It's a vague and promotional metric created by Sony themselves which no other underlying data. It's not what's interesting about that presentation. The interesting stuff is how MTX and paid DLC will grow to be the biggest revenue type for consoles in the near future. It probably already is the case if you include mobile and PC. It's also no surprise that Playstation has set up major mobile game projects with third-party developers.

>Physical Software
wut
my gues is amiibos skylanders and the like
what the fuck happened to skylanders and disney infinity?
werent they huge?
people figured out how to pirate the toys to use in-game so sales for the figures plummeted and they stopped
the become too expensive to collect and got replaced by amiibos wich have more brand recognition
It collapsed along with all the others toys-to-life shit. Amiibo Festival was basically the death knell of amiibo, which is why Nintendo just smartly maneuvered it into occasional inexpensive figurines.
Ironically I think New Horizons would've done great for amiibo, putting out a line of NPC villager figures rather than just amiibo cards would've done great. Imagine the bloodbath for people trying to get that one suit cat amiibo.
i think they mean physical games
Physical Hardware is the consoles. Physical software is the games
what mtx are people buying anyways, I thought the lootbox thing was over
Gacha, cosmetics, upgrades, maps, etc. It's not that important what it is. It's that player consumption habits are changing and will reflect the largest and probably most profitable type of revenue for publishers going forward. It's why Playstation has over a dozen GAAS games in development. It's also why games like Smash Bros Ultimate, Mario Kart 8, Animal Cross New Horizons and Splatoon are such big hits. The multiplayer, online, and social games with long term and deep monetization potential are the future of gaming.
People actively defend DLC now, the brain rot is real
Boomers defend expansions like Armageddon's Blade. DLC is simply Armageddon's Blade but smaller and cheaper.
No, it's really not the same
He's right, honestly. Shitty cashgrab expansions were the norm for years before DLC was a thing.
Worst part was all the kids who got it brought for them for christmas because the parents didn't realise it wasn't the actual game and wouldn't work alone.
I didn't buy any shitty expansions, so I wouldn't know. But just because some are shitty, doesn't mean all are shitty. That's like saying shitty games are the same as good games.
Retard moron gay, have a nice day
Im cool with DLC expansions, but theyre rarely like that anymore. Other than Xenoblade, i cant think of a dlc expansion recently.
Oblivion really fucked up the market with their horse armor dlc, 80% of it is cosmetic
>dlc expansion recently
Echoes of the Eye.
I was thinking AAA, indies are always doing their cooler thing anyways
Does Octo Expanskon count or is that not recent enough
Shut your whore mouth. Conflux is ten times better of a content addition than modern DLC. And that's saying something with how much of a balance shit show it is.
It's easy to defend continued support of a game you like and that's where one of the changes is happening. Players are buying into an ecosystem or platform instead of just a one-off game experience. It wasn't all that different before when you got sequels or trilogies. People just wanted more. Now it's being expressed in other forms like DLC or live service experiences. Again, it's the changing habits and expectations are that important.
The medium by which consumers transfer their income to publishers isn't important to me. That consumers are becoming more comfortable doing that in various ways is. And the key elements are that the games are usually live service, online, social and or multiplayer. Nintendo isn't quite there yet, because their have a separate playerbase that's not quite accustomed to it all yet, but it's getting there like everyone else.
>usually live service, online, social and or multiplayer.
And I am telling you is not the same, gacha can do without social or multiplayer, and the way the games are made may as well be played offline, all of those you mentioned are extras. Gacha overall requires way less effort than a gaas game, where you need more balance, moderation and gameplay, gacha on the other hand is more cheap for is closer to a collect them all model, is like the pokemon fad where you are engaged in a collector's mintset rahter than a stand out one
I don't know how you do a gacha game as a single-player, offline experience. How does a company charge the player for the gacha?
I said played offline, the amount of bandwith required is very low, anyway you can indeed play sonic dash offline and then update the game some times
>It's not that important what it is.
yes it is, gacha sells like genshin impact gaas sells like overwatch. And Splatoon downsized the social aspect wich each game, I should know I bought a wii u just for that game
Fomo cash shop is far more lucrative. Loot boxes allow you to maybe harpoon a few whales, fomo is a dragnet scrapping everything out of the sea.
its always gacha. every japanese gaming company owns several of them now.
Addon content may as well say gacha
>that CY20-22 data
Shouldn't the trend downward tho? How the fuck do they can make an upward trend? Any economist tells me here?
Three dots and a line is all I need to see the humble merchant...
lel
Sony released about 20 games in the time it took Nintendo to produce TotK.
And Nintendo released 100 games in that time.
4 of them were tlou
Which blue character does sony have?
Nintendo (red) -> Mario
Xbox (green) -> Master Chief
Playstation (blue) -> ???
Eve
who
Aloy
Blue stands for blue balls . It's a state of existence.
Default Dashboard Color
Ricky Bobby's racing suit had a fair amount of blue on it
Blue association started with the PS2 because the logo for that was blue, and it just stuck.
Spyro, Solid Snake
I guess Ratchet's suit is partially blue?
>Opening 2 theme Parks.
>Made a billion dollar movie.
>Selling more than a billion pieces of software.
>Currently have the third best selling system of all time and they might actually outsell the fucking PS2.
You know I never thought sony would ending up using console warring argumentos with their shareholders.
Then again....

Nintendo is finally reaching the level playstation was at 20 years ago
Playstation 2 wasn't at that level until the 2010s. They had to keep it on the market for like 7 years after the PS3 came out to hit 155m.
>2032 was a bad year but 2033 will be the year of the PS5!
So when will Playstation reach that level it was 20 years ago?
And what level did the playstation reach in these long 20 years?
i wonder what that Zelda theme park's ride gonna be. Seems like they made the zonai tech a perfect fit for a ride
They should do one of those slow themed boat ride attractions like It's a Small World except it's Wind Waker themed
they're actually doing that with Yoshi
>Yoshi
Kinda gay, Nintendo should diversify what's being represented at their park space instead of it all just being Mario shit
>brand momentum
what the fuck does this mean
How fast it's going down the drain
how hard it's fucking the other brands
Isn't that the same document Sony made where they showed that a rice cooker was more popular than the Playstation brand?
More than anything I'm surprised Xbox is even that closr to Nintendo considering how irrelevant the Xbox brand is nowadays.
It's like the graph is made up or something
Xbox isn't a console anymore. It's a games service that also happens to have a dedicated machine for playing said games, in case your PC isn't powerful enough.
By that metric, you'd expect Xbox to be doing fairly well. It's just that the comparison is meaningless. Nintendo and Microsoft are pursuing their own markers, but Sony is determined to keep fighting the Console War that no one else is willing to participate in.
There's no denying that the PS5 is selling really well, not that its first party games tend to score really well with reviewers.
But how the fuck do you expect the success measures you market to be taken seriously, when you claim to have a "stronger brand" than the motherfuckers who own Mario and Pokémon?
>Mario and Pokémon
>Coming anywhere close to motherfucking Horizon
Anon, I...
Anon...
Respect to Hello Kitty.
ahaha-
PFFFFFFFFFFTT AHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Poes law
>PS5 is selling really well
32 million units compared to 117 million of the ps4
>its first party games tend to score really well with reviewers
anon...
>But how the fuck do you expect the success measures you market to be taken seriously, when you claim to have a "stronger brand" than the motherfuckers who own Mario and Pokémon?
Make games for your audience. I say that, but who's the audience for the PS5?
Answer: Nerds with horrible taste in movies.
32 million so far isn't bad. PS5 has already outsold the N64, OG Xbox, GameCube and every Sega console
It's still behind the PS4, though.
>32 million so far isn't bad. PS5 has already outsold the N64, OG Xbox, GameCube and every Sega console
The N64 sold like 37million
Not really that impressive when we're 3 years in and those concoles were only on the market five years.
SONY
ALWAYS
WINSSSSSSSSSSSS
Ganker ALWAYS LOSESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Reminds me when PS5 lost to InstantPot by Sony's own metric
do you think they count posts on Ganker shitting on sony as 'engagement' as well?
Doesn't this go against their current strategy of trying to look like wimp that gets bullied by big, bad microsoft?
Oooh do we ha e more Instpot and Peloton slides?
now let's see how many games were actually sold, not just talked about then about them on some garbage social network like Twitter, reddit, facebook, tiktok etc.
Not a lot for console who sold 120 million
they make their money off of MTX and DLC sales. games sales don't matter
They fucking do, those dlcs and mtx crap don't pop from thin air.
Having negative software sales show that something is very wrong.
Yes, they do. They're called F2P games.
And they still had the gall to say that they couldn't compete with MS over the ABK buyout lmao. Most disingenuous company of the 3.
Heh
>their virtuous cycle
What the fuck does that even mean
>12 GAAS GAMES.
Not that i'm surprised.
Since at this point sony profits from DLC And MTX
>12 live service games
Does Sony not realize that these will cannibalize the fuck out of each other while also having to compete with shit like Fortnite and Roblox?
I guess their reasoning is that only one them needs to be a success.
But considering sony's infamous lack of patience something tells me most of them will die in a year at best
>Sony should stick with single-player games of old IPs
Worthless take. Not even Nintendo does this.
C
The classic Sony chart. Use an arbitrary metric like "Leading Category Momentum" that has no actual meaning, and pretend its meaningful. I miss when you fucks posted articles like "Sony has sold the most Sony games in an October month in 2020!" as if any other company was competing for "most Sony games sold"
They don't need to when Sony is doing it themselves in official reports
PS5 is the most in demand console ever
