less "hooked on it", more "desperately need it"
pc ports are funding future sony projects, the moment they stop going multiplat is the moment sony's future endeavours grind to a halt
If you read the whole article and not the headline, the MTX games are going to probably require a seperate launcher and storefront than Steam. So You're going to need to make a Playstation account. All the MTX games will require having stuff being bought over PSN itself.
PC Players are going to start shitting themselves over needing a new icon on their desktop. Also there will be mobile crossplay with phones just like in Genshin.
Within 5 years Steam's grasp on the PC market is going to diminish. Microsoft is planning to expand their launcher and store, Playstation has one in the works, and this doesn't account for stuff like Bethesda, battle.net, or EGS being absorbed
The consoles will just expand to PC but you'r enot going to be gaming on PC the same way you are now. There's hardware locks in place that people have found where xbox controllers won't work for playstation and viceversa, it's why controllers have firmware updates now.
Sony and Microsoft are not going to want to take the 30% from steam for everything. Both PSN and the Microsoft store are going to wind up heavily colonizing the PC space. If Sony moved everything to steam they would have their profits be cut by more than 30%. So a PC storefront and launcher are pretty much a given.

yes
just like EA
just like Bethesda
just like Ubisoft
and they all put their stuff back on Steam because it doesn't make sense to cut out that 70% revenue
they'll certainly have their own stores, but they'd be fools to make the same mistake as others already have

None of those companies are platform holders themselves and are at most publishers, Xbox and PSN are both huge and generate billions already.

and they're just publishers as far as the PC market is concerned
they may have more money, but that's it

They all left steam for the same reason (I'm a big name and people will know my games and seek them out wherever they are, so I can make my own launcher and cut out steam's cut) and all of them came back to steam for the same reason (70% of steam sales were more than 100% of their own launcher sales minus costs of running the launcher, especially since their launcher is way shittier than steam and people didn't want to deal with it, leading to an uptick of piracy or other not-buying-the-games related issues).
As Console manufactuers sony would know what kinda costs would be accociated with running a pc storefront, but that's about the only advantage they have. Hell, since they don't actually make the games they can't force devs not to put on steam except by paying them, putting them in a potentially worse spot than the other publisher launchers, save epic.
That makes sense, but I don't think that'll really hurt Steam. If anything, WeGame is more of a danger to Steam than Sony/MS. And still think Nintendo will jump in on the game in the next few years.
You'll notice I said PC version, and never once mentioned steam. I knew this cope would come lmao.
So basically they're fixing the NO GAEMS machine and turning PC players into MTX Slaves to fund their console games?
Sounds perfect
>turning PC players into MTX Slaves
I'd advise you to not look up Fortnite's mtx earnings that inspired then to go all in on mtx, it's not a pretty picture for you
it means barebones shitty multiplayer game (in other words, early access) that will get updates overtime, and of course, microtransactions left and right.
microtransactions are the main monetization strategy
but wgat sets live service apart are the constant updates to keep people playing
they are usually small, tweaking stats to make characters fall in and out of meta to "shake things up"
rarely will they add real content like a character or map
and sooner or later, bit by bit, they'll have fricked with the game so much it's like you aren't even playing the same game anymore
This is why Sony has bet it all on GAAS. It used to be you would release a game then sequels then more games and so on. Now, players are getting sucked into just a few games that provide on-going content releases that continuously monetize their users for years or even decades. That's the future of non-indie game development.
What I want to see happen is licensed parts come out from card manufacturers. Microsoft will have cards and stuff specifically made for their games and Sony will have theirs.
We already have branded gaming shit like headphones and monitors, and branded cards and shit is the next step. I'm fully expecting potato builds to be tossed by the wayside especially since many of these games are being certified for mobile which has a userbase upgrades much faster.
PC gaming is going to get way more expensive if all the console manufacturers move in, gone will be the days where bargain builds are the norm.
>licensed parts come out from card manufacturers. Microsoft will have cards and stuff specifically made for their games and Sony will have theirs.
Define "Console" for me, moron.
Yes that's exactly it, consoles will still be around but if you want console games on PC you're going to need to buy Microsoft brand shit for your rig fi you want to play Microsoft games and Sony stuff if you want to play Sony games.
in the end consoles will be the cheapest and most affordable option anyways
>Microsoft brand shit for your rig fi you want to play Microsoft games and Sony stuff if you want to play Sony games.
you mean like exclusives for their own specific hardware?
We saw how well that worked out last time lmao
I have zero interest in live service or online games. There's nothing they can do to make me play those games. I just do not find them entertaining whatsoever. I only want traditional single player games that I can beat in 10-30 hours and then move on and play something else.
>people in this thread thinking they can game from their one shitty toaster just like they have been for 15 years
Oh man the writing is on the fricking wall, you're going to need a separate PC for every console manufacturer if things continue this way. They're making their own storefronts and launchers, Steam's monopoly may be at an end.
PlayStation systems were great because they let third parties do multiplayer games and they made amazing single player western and eastern games.
Now they dont make eastern games, they make far fewer western games and all the good multiplyer games are being bought by Microsoft while they shit out garbage like destruction derby because sony has never made a good multiplayer online game outside Resistance FoM and Warhawk.
They're going above and beyond with Yakuza and Ronin this also isn't counting the shit that team asobi is putting out. Stop being a fricking weeb victim homosexual.
>SP titles still the most profitable ones
Then why are they crying over CoD?
Sony knows that their sp games sell like shit and won't keep afloat playstation, no matter how much they try to lie about it
Also Ape Escape is dead
>it allows us to continue to invest
welp, pack it in snoys. Sony has officially gone 3rd party, pc versions are a given now
So you mean they tasted the multiplat money and are hooked up on it?
less "hooked on it", more "desperately need it"
pc ports are funding future sony projects, the moment they stop going multiplat is the moment sony's future endeavours grind to a halt

I give Nintendo 5 years before they follow suit.

any day now, surely

Most of PSN's purchases are MTXs already but the fact that the GAAS shit is day and date is the big indicator.
why don't you just link the fricking article and greentext some of it or screenshot it or something?
why do you insist on this twitter shit from some moron that just regurgitates the news?
Apply to be a janitor.
>nibel
you will never be verified
>More cross gen titles will happen
It says could come right there. Don't dishonest in your fricking OP. Oh and go back to Twitter, b***h.
Does Sony even have any live service games?
They're developing several ones also they have Destiny
They acquihired bungie to get them to teach their other studios how to make live service games.
Live service this
>*unzips dick*
>live service games
I still don't know what exactly it's a live service game. Is it just about "micro"transaction?
it means barebones shitty multiplayer game (in other words, early access) that will get updates overtime, and of course, microtransactions left and right.
Yes, like Mario Strikers and Wii Sports Switch.
like splatoon?
Sony wishes it could hawk garbage as well as Nintendo does.
Free updates over time, a frick ton of mtx.
microtransactions are the main monetization strategy
but wgat sets live service apart are the constant updates to keep people playing
they are usually small, tweaking stats to make characters fall in and out of meta to "shake things up"

PS5 has like 4 exclusives, what the frick are they doing
Holy based, Sony going PC is the best move they can make.
PC is the future!
>more people get games
>they get more money
>can invest in more/bigger projects
>get more games
Yeah sounds like a good plan.
>get more games
cool a 6th?
morons like you don’t even realize that the push for pc these days is just another part of the death of this industry.
why
>PC homosexualS ON SUICIDE WATCH
>pcf@s are making sony stronger
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Jesus, they're really dying aren't they?
So basically they're fixing the NO GAEMS machine and turning PC players into MTX Slaves to fund their console games?
Sounds perfect

Now, players are getting sucked into just a few games that provide on-going content releases that continuously monetize their users for years or even decades. That's the future of non-indie game development.
Future? This shit has been going on since the late 90's, MMos and Counterstrike have been a thing for decades.
Well, it's growing.
Ok.
What I want to see happen is licensed parts come out from card manufacturers. Microsoft will have cards and stuff specifically made for their games and Sony will have theirs.

That's literally what's going to happen PC's will wind up becoming more expensive consoles in the end.
>PC's will wind up becoming more expensive consoles in the end.

someone end sony, please
I have zero interest in live service or online games. There's nothing they can do to make me play those games. I just do not find them entertaining whatsoever. I only want traditional single player games that I can beat in 10-30 hours and then move on and play something else.
Say no more.
I dont like weeb stuff. I find it extremely off-putting.
The ps4 was so successful, why did sony choose to wake up one day and an hero?
>people in this thread thinking they can game from their one shitty toaster just like they have been for 15 years
Oh man the writing is on the fricking wall, you're going to need a separate PC for every console manufacturer if things continue this way. They're making their own storefronts and launchers, Steam's monopoly may be at an end.
>you'll need your own PC for each console manufacturer
so a console?
I wonder how they're going to monetize the last of Us multiplayer, maybe they can kill that IP for good this time
PlayStation systems were great because they let third parties do multiplayer games and they made amazing single player western and eastern games.
Now they dont make eastern games, they make far fewer western games and all the good multiplyer games are being bought by Microsoft while they shit out garbage like destruction derby because sony has never made a good multiplayer online game outside Resistance FoM and Warhawk.
>now that they don't make eastern games
They're going above and beyond with Yakuza and Ronin this also isn't counting the shit that team asobi is putting out. Stop being a fricking weeb victim homosexual.
>They're going above and beyond with Yakuza and Ronin
These aren't PS develop games moron. And Asobi is one studio and hasn't put out shit.
Yakuza and Ronin have XDev as a support studio while they're not sony IPs they are helping with development, Asobi has already pout out stuff for VR
Literally they have more studios in asian countries now than they have before. China is the main reason why their doing GAAS shit.
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/corporate/playstation-studios/
Where are the Asian studios outside Asobi?
One of their biggest support studios is located in Malaysia, they also have studios and headquarters in China.
Where are they on the list? This is the list homosexual support studios to help program Ellie's c**t don't count.
Also I missed polyphony digital. Man GT7 was such a disappointment.
It's called Playstation Studios Malaysia
They have major studios throughout asia
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2022/10/ps-studios-malaysia-achieves-next-major-milestone-with-futuristic-workspace
>more cross-gen
>no more exclusive titles
>more movies and TV shows
>more mobile
wow, the PS consoles are dead as frick. Holy shit that was quick...
The cross gen titles are the live service games
Nintendo at this point is even making game movies
>More cross gen titles will happen
Snoys can't take a rest, they are a laughing stock now.
>strong partnerships with Japanese studios
Highest grade copium finally arrived?
They just unveiled two projects with Yakuza and Ronin, this is on top of stuff like Final Fantasy 16, and them funding the Kiseki anime.
>3 games that will go multiplat in 6 months
A game going multiplat doesn't hurt the system it originally appears on.
These aren't sony games.
it would help if you read more than a headline, because the PS5 has a ton of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean games already.
Oh yes, Lost Soul Aside and Black Myth: Wukong any day now.
Stellar Blade and there's also Sword and Fairy
>SP titles still the most profitable ones
Then why are they crying over CoD?
Sony knows that their sp games sell like shit and won't keep afloat playstation, no matter how much they try to lie about it
They're not crying over COD, the Activision Merger has a slew of other companies like Google Concerned due to it's size.
frick off niggel
