This. It's already a source port, you can touch up the sprites without resorting to a filter. Even run them through Waifux2 or something at least.

For the past 10 years we have had threads when Capcom was announcing legacy collections for all of their games hoping it was finally time for MMBN. There are people here who got disappointed every conference they did because of how much they wanted this to be true. They not only gave us these games and made them more accessible but they also gave us multiplayer and some bonus stuff. And then comes this fricking wienersucker. Where the frick did you crawl from fricker because i sure think you weren't even born when people were having fun with this series. Go organize your discord raids somewhere else

Its incredible how much they are throwing stuff to see which one sticks the most. MMBN was never a main thing and had an avid fanbase that wasn't too big.No sequel begging, maybe the ocasional Starforce was bad from some guy who either didn't play it or didn't like the changes and people posting fanart which has been dead for a decade now. According to capcom MMX Legacy Collection 1+2 sold 1.2 million (by the end of 2019), and the classic legacy collection (both 1+2) are at 2 million. I think those are respectable sales for the blue bomber.
MMZ/ZX of course sold worse than those two, but those have always been a bit niche. However, MMBN was huge in Japan back in the day, so I can imagine it selling pretty respectably as well.

Battle Network was fricking massive in Japan among kids at the time, it was very popular even if internationally it was just reasonably successful. Why would they make them 16:9? All the previous Legacy Collections were actual ports, why would this be different? And not just because they already said in an interview they were ports and not roms running on an emulator.

Normalgays can't stand artifacts or other visual glitches.

                Anonymous

Let me ask you this before I answer, why did they do source ports for the Zero/ZX Collection? They did there.

But the answer is because it's easier to do multiplayer and implement eReader functionality with source ports. And we know they're doing both.

                Anonymous

Then at that point, why not display the games in 16:9? It's a single byte change. The things you mentioned actually take more work than just displaying in widescreen and the latter is actually a noticeable, marketable improvement.

My mathmatically impossible chance hope is that they have events for pvp, to prevent OTK PA spam folders. A list of possible events:

    >Can only use chips of a single/group of three (A,B,C...) codes
    >Navi chips banned
    >Only elemental chips
    >No soul crosses
    >No PA's
    >Start with 10/max program chips
    >Start in beast out for MM6
    >Stages for all battles will begin as Grass/Lava/Poison...

Etcetera. Would be fun as hell and would increase the replayability, and keep people coming back.

Eh, I'm not getting my hopes up until I actually see the missions are still there.

If true. This is uncharacteristically generous of Konami, part of me wishes this means there could be a Boktai collection soon, but that might be asking for too much.

        >they also got permission from konami to use boktai stuff
thats cool, too bad they wont have the boktai pvp battles, which wouldnt really be possible but had a lot of fun doing them with my cousin.

they said the crossover battle is out (for obvious reasons) and that you get the reward points for it (for the chip traders) from regular netbattling

I don't know why the newer X and Megaman collections had to be split when 6th gen games could fit the entirety (at least up to that point with X) and MORE.
No crossplay for any of their fighting game collection (Divide your niche audience more)
Most new 'features' are just YOU CAN CHEAT NOW (savestates, rewinding, the new buster in this colleciton)

There are some nice gimmicks but nothing that makes me consider paying full price. It's a collection for people who don't know better.

      Anonymous

Yeah, it sucks. Not that anyone would play BN for story, but 4 scenario design is actually so moronic that it hurts, and it’s utter pain if you’re a completionist. Nobody sane could place it up the the pedestal 2 and 3 are on.

Speaking of garbage: I’m already kind of amused at the idea of people coming to the series the first time and getting stumped with the mess that the internet in BN1 is to navigate. It was always a pain, but I’d expect for it to feel even worse for those who play it first time now, not in early 00’s when people generally had more patience for bullshit.

        Anonymous

Its only the later parts of 1's internet that are bad. You can easily complete the story without ever going that deep.

          Anonymous

all of it is bad just because it all looks the same. it actively deincentivizes you from exploring, unlike the internet areas of the rest of the games.

The first 3 games (and 6) are structured to have enemies in three tiers with correspondingly stronger drops. The game gets harder as you get further but generally you compensate with better chips, and by the end of the game you have basically your entire kit.

In 4, your entire first playthrough is going to be the first tier of enemies, plus EX versions that are tougher to beat but don't have BETTER drops per se (they instead can drop different letter code versions of their chips that the normal variants can't), and you'll only have half of your transformations (with two chosen randomly). Your second playthrough is all second tier enemies, and two more transformations. Third playthrough is all third tier enemies and the final transformation. If you missed any chips from the earlier tiers you have to beat the game again to cycle back around.

The plot also is supposed to be about evil battle chips and darkness in the hearts of humanity and AI alike and an asteroid threatening the world, but all that is basically forgotten for the majority of the game as you do a lot of randomized filler scenarios - even that wouldn't be so bad but there's only like one that even ties into the original story beat and the rest of them are stuff like "we accidentally made a Navi cry so hard the internet submerged". The one actual villain in the game you don't beat until postgame in a Boktai crossover.

      Anonymous

It has some great Navi design and some of the best OST.

That being said, the story is either tournament base with tons of smaller stories, the dark side, and a giant frick you meteor. So its not ganna win in the story department so what else? Oh the chips are deliberately shit with the aim to have the players use the Dark Chip and guilt trip them. Of course, this is avoidable with hockey punk... until you realize that weapon doesn't work with Duo. Oh yeah, Duo. Frick Duo. He is bullshit with a stupid battle mechanic that make the fight hard than it should be. Yeah, there is a good reason why no one really favor 4 that highly.

It's the jap version as a base, so I think e-Reader cards all work. Each area also has a billboard that displays a map of the place, if you need it. the format of splitting the games into volumes doesn't really makes sense compared to X games since those are so divisive, it's just weird how they are still pushing it when nobody will pay more for less content (assuming it's more than half the price of both when you buy them individually) in a series where people actually want the most out of every entry, people who just want 1 or 2 games will just emulate so I don't know who they are dividing the games for

Even if they did release all the games in a single package, it'd still probably be $60. The reason they did it this way is to create the illusion of a deal.

It's also the reason they are marketing this as "10 games" even though it's only 6. They want it to sound like you're getting more than you are actually buying. It made more sense with the classic series (NES or later) and the X series (good or bad) but when they hit Zero/ZX, they just put it all together because a two-game ZX collection wouldn't sell.

But they know that Battle Network players will pay out the nose, so they split it up and say you're getting "six games" in the second half to sound impressive.

Yeah, but that's because it's run by the community, i.e. actual human beings that aren't employed by a corporation that actively weed out hackers. When that gets replaced by this, all of that is out the window. Look at what happened with Smash and the whole Slippi debacle. are Megaman games still impossibly hard? Sometimes I consider buying then remember as a kid I 'played them' for years and never beat any bosses except for Megaman X and Zero 4, those were easier.

No. They're some of the eaiser NES games honestly. And these are more strategy-based RPGS. So if you aren't moronic with your folder building you can make up for bad reflexes.

      Depends on the sub series

      >classic
Kinda hard but it's mostly trial and error. If you're patient and know each boss' weakness, it should be relatively easy
      >X
Same as the above except a little easier thanks to health and armor updgrades. X4 in particular is a cakewalk
      >Zero
Hardest Megaman series but still not Touhou levels of insanity. The first 2 games tend to filter a lot of people
      >ZX
Navigation can be a pain but the games themselves are about as difficult as the X series
      >Legends
Even easier than X and ZX as long as you explore for goodies
      >BN
Even easier than Legends (assuming you're decent at making folders)
      >SF
      Even easier than BN

TL;DR, in terms of difficulty, Zero>Classic>X=ZX>Legends>BN>SF but even Zero is not impossible

How's 1 insane? Even without abusing the pause trick nothing's that bad of a fight in the game, except that you have to REALLY learn Yellow Devil's pattern. Even the disappearing blocks aren't as hard as Magnet Man's stage without Rush Jet.

Eh 1 has its moments. Elec Man is pretty ballbusting if you don't know how to cheese him, and the moving platforms that shoot at you are bastards.

Yellow Devil is the hardest thing in Megaman. I learned his pattern exactly, but can't do the one jump required each time where you have to do a very specific short jump that lets you land on the ground fast enough to jump again immediately and clear the pattern without getting hit.

Zero is only hard due whole elf system limiting upgrades. If you dont take account rank penalty game is easy as X.

I disagree, I think it's brilliant. If you're not skilled you can still beat the game at the cost of your own ego, but if you're good the game recognizes it. The absurd grind to actually use the upgrades is kind of dumb, though.

Z3 is pretty easy with the access to 2 elves of your choice that you can switch on the fly with all the ex skills being useful and the ability to combo your charge saber into triple slash into heaven splitter into saber smash will delete almost a full bar of hp off most bosses.

OSS doesn't have enough to justify it and 5 just bundles both GBA games together which is kind of irrelevant for a collection that has both already. It'd be like doing Zerker X Ninja and Zerker X Saurian in a SF collection instead of just having Zerker, Ninja and Saurian.

have you ever played any of those games or did you just look them up on a wiki? This is like suggesting someone play Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire over Pokemon Emerald. The changes made to BN1 in OSS especially make BN1 even worse to go back to when it was already one of the hardest to go back to games in the series. Just the changes made to the Elecman scenario are enough to never play vanilla BN1 ever again.

I just want a Battle Network 7. I don't care if they reboot the series, do a new arc with Patch, or (You) are the main character. Just give me a new BN game.

    > but Lan's story is done!!!

Frick off. If you have an modicum of creativity you'd see the BN series is brimming with potential with all the new shit they can come up with with online gameplay.

Absolutely not. Geo is one of my favorite protagonists but the gameplay was discount BN.

frick battle network 7. Battle Network X

Whatever you want to call it, as long as the BN gameplay is in tact or improved and not whatever bullshit they pulled with Star Force and it's still within the cyber world of Navis and integrated web in everyday life.

I wanna buy this day 1 but it comes out right before Zelda which means I won't have enough time to beat even 1 game before I drop it for Zelda. And then there's no way I'm gonna pick up where I left off.

      I miss SDT threads.

There's a MAX BUSTER toggle that makes your buster do 100x damage, which is sort of a speed toggle for just getting through the story I guess.

I was more thinking just for making the running around between battles less tedious, since it's 6 games in a row I'm having to do it in.

I'm guessing the best you'll be getting is cranking up the game speed with cheat engine or something.

    >Classic Capcom would remake this game in 3D with new features or just release EXE 7
    >nu-Capcom gives you online and a shitty filter, not even bring the JP only EXE games to the package
this is fricking sad, I can run the game better with Retroarch.

EXE 7 isn't happening, 6 ends with an uneventful "and they all grew up and had peaceful lives" ending where Land and Mayl give their offscreen child the stupidest name imaginable

I love the X series and don't care much for BN aside from one or two games from my childhood, but I hope this port does your franchise justice. X got a really fricking bad port while Zero got a good one (excluding PC frame drops).

    Steam or Switch?

Steam Version means I can play on my Steam Deck but I also have a Switch OLED.

Both can be played on my LG C1 65 inch OLED.

I mean they're kinda bland, aren't they? MegaMan becomes a bit funnier if you give him that joke program, but even then he's still mostly pretty uninteresting.

You're not supposed to like them, they're just generic good guy heroes for the player to self insert.

I never see anyone really praising their characters as anything special, the only reason they get so much attention in Ganker threads is because this board is filled with shotagays.

That and they have a slight bit more personality in the anime

    >>BN6 postgame fixed
    content is intact
What do these bullet points mean exactly?

Several areas and a whole sidequest with a unique boss were cut from the U.S. release of Battle Network 6, since it was another Boktai crossover and the brand was essentially dead in the U.S. so Konami didn't give clearance to use it.
This version restores and localizes that content and restores the deleted areas from the game related to it and the Undernet.

Also, they are fixing the "glitch" where beating the game doesn't reset the music in the game to play the area themes, so it's permanently playing the Crisis jingle, which is like... a 10-15 second long song.

Battle Network 3 multiplayer is incredible, right up there with 6. 3 has the most folder depth and strategies of any game In before all Blue Version folders spam FolderBack from how broken it is

Is buster max mode going to be broken or does it just make weak mobs faster to get through and pretty much nothing else?

it defeats the entire point of the game IMO

I like it as a means to speed through the game and get to the multiplayer part. That said, I see a ton of new players using it as a crutch that will bite them in the ass once they go online. I just like it for smashing through some of the tedium in the games, especially for 4 and 5.

I'm thinking of buying this game for the switch. I only played one back in the day but my English was shit and I didn't know what I was doing half of the time... I remember I stopped because there was something I just couldn't understand. I can't wait to play every game in the series and understand what's going on. i used to love the anime.

It was missing an enormous amount of content in the English versions. Effectively the entire postgame didn't exist.

They're pretty large maps, and it's where the entire Boktai content took place. That's also discounting the Battle Gate and eReader functionalities the game removed.
