>spend an hour getting to a boss I've never seen
>don't know his patterns, every hit requires a heal
>meanwhile my damage is shit
>die as soon as I get to second phase
Dead Cells thread I guess, doing runs with barely any results is exausting

And it only gets worse
I could consistently get to the final boss but never beat it, watched the fight on youtube and considered it done. Its a fun game but at some point got too repetitive and lost my interest. The castlevania stuff coming looks interesting
Anon, of you never not the boss then you were stuck to normal mode... There are 5 difficulties over it
how's this game compared to Hollow Knight?
>dont know his patterns, very hit requires heal
have you tried reacting so you fight back against new things?
also if every hit needs a heal then you have a massive lack of health. get all the scrolls and make sure you have deecnt tanking
its literally not a metroidvania, i dont know why people call it that. It's a roguelite, basically, and movement skills is one of your perma upgrades that lets you access different biomes and nothing else.
The game has more weapons and mechanics, but inferior boss design and it doesnt have the flow of hk's slashes and pogos.
This is a roguelite platformer with an emphasis on speed, hollow knight is a metroidvania style game. Not really comparable but both have good controls.
i dont blame him because a few days ago there were a bunch of threads brand-warring over metroid-likes
and for some reason people kept bringing up dead cells
Because this game is touted as a metroidvania roguelike, despite those elements disappearing almost completely after the first couple hours
nonsense comparison, the two are only similar in the fact they're both 2D sidescrollers. Very different games.
This is pixelshit, HK actually has good visuals.
Imagine not knowing what "pixelshit" means
>thinking dead cells has bad visuals
>not realising dead cells is 3d models downscaled
hollow knight's edge lies in the artstyle
yes because of its excelent level variety and smooth gameplay
I played most of the popular rogues (gungeon, hades, nuclear throne), does this one really deserve a spot with the GOATs? something about it looks... cheap
It's not cheap, though the prerendered sprites might give that impression.
It's rather a game that doesn't really know what it wants to be, to put it shortly, it's a very long topic though.
It's because the devs are idealistic commies who think letting everyone have an equal say in what they add with no grander structure is a good way to make something
The issues with Dead Cells have nothing to do with lack of a grander structure though.
It's more that the devs are schizos who want their game to be SUPER DUPER HARDCORE CHALLENGING DARK SOULS OF ROGUELITES but at the same time enable the most braindead possible ways to play as the single most optimal ways to play even it comes at the cost of removing any possible depth and variation in their system.
It doesn't help that they also can't balance for shit and constantly go back and forward with their patches and the game gets progressively worse because they want to fix problems that just aren't there.
is this something I will actually run into when i eventually play it, or is this some meta level thing I can just ignore and enjoy the game and it wont bother me as long as I don't look stuff off the internet.
I think the core gameplay is better than Hades
That's honestly the least of this game's problems.
