>Reignited*
Purely up to personal opinion. Both are worth playing however
Disregard morons seething in one fashion or another
It's ok if you have no other alternative but the presentation lacks the SOVL of the originals
i'm playing the original on RetroArch, having a lot of fun so far.
Give it a go, see what you think. Controls are the same, feels natural to pick up if you've played the originals.
Just treat it like the same games with a fresh coat of paint. Whether that coat of paint is entirely good or bad is up to you.
Play Cynder modded
Better than the original is subjective. It's a faithful remake but I prefer the original because the simplistic graphics and the world design around such graphics is so bright and vibrant. It really was one of a kind.
>Is Spyro the dragon: reignated trilogy Better than the original? is it worth playing?
No and no.
It's version of Spyro 1 is the definitive version. It improves so much that needed doing to 1. Fixes the VA, makes the dragons stand out more.
Spyro 2 and especially 3 are downgrades in enough areas that I suggest playing the originals (as long as you play NTSC GH of 3).
This is a real TL;DR
I agree with these 2 posts but I wouldn't recommend buying it just for 1 game
download some graphical mods that restore some of the changed models and it makes it worth it.
>Make it more like the original
>Now it's good
Spyro gets worse with each game. First game is great and still worth playing, second game is good and worth playing if you really like the first game, third game is mediocre and skippable.
>1 is better than 2
pfffffffffffffffffbbbbbbbbtttttttt
The forced backtracking because "oops sorry you haven't learned how to climb ladders yet" annoys me. Spyro 1 doesn't deal with that mess. Plus I overall prefer the puzzles and levels of the first game, I'd rather do supercharge puzzles through Tree Tops and Haunted Towers than herd cowleks or play a Hunter minigame.
I agree with that anon. 2 isn't bad but 1 is a much tighter, more focused experience.
Aesthetically I also prefer the music and world theming in 1.
Robbie the Robot is having a wank.
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
entire saga summed up in one image...
corporates greed kills a great ip
what do you want to see out of spyro 4?
Dragon pussy
I unironically want to see a finished Enter the Dragonfly.
Why? There's not some nugget of core brilliance that was unfulfilled by rushed development or hardware limitations
It was shit all the way up and down
Do you mean you want Enter the Dragonfly, but actually a completely original game that has nothing to do with the original but the name?
Bigger and more open levels with cleverly hidden secrets. Hell, an outright Metroidvania would suit Spyro well and give him the much needed evolution he needs without changing too much of the core gameplay.
this
having spyro fly around and explore a giant massive fortress with some metroidvania style exploration would be good to shake up the series
i want to see a mix of classic spyro and the open world shit like free flying and big platforming puzzles from Dawn of the Dragon
Did I start this conversation with you before? I had something in mind like an expansion of Dawn of the Dragon's golems as bosses spread across various homeworlds and realms reached through OG style portals
no?
that sounds kinda cool though
i was thinking about something more along the lines of classic spyro but with flying based on momentum with the ability to climb on more surfaces
you could have really vertical worlds that could lend to a lot of cool platforming puzzles
the first is ok, the others are garbage and zoe is censored asn well as a lot of thingsin this game. Play the originals instead
If you played the originals when you were a kid and have severe autism then you likely won't be able to get over some of the changes they made to the art style.
On the other hand if you're not a complete and total sperg and you want to play the games with a flashy new coat of paint then this is the way to go. It doesn't improve much on the originals, because they're aged remarkably well given the fact they're early 3D games, but it does improve the camera control. Also there was an ability you could unlock in the third game that pointed you towards the nearest gem to collect all of them without poring over the whole level looking for the last one, the remake includes that in all three titles from the start.

these are cool mods but if you honestly so fricking ass bothered to need all of these to play the damn game you might as well just put in the originals
exactly
Does SquigglySpyro76's mods conflict with any of the other classic recolor stuff? It's kind of hard to tell at a glance.
>Better than the original
No
>is it worth playing
Probably, on PC in 60 FPS. They fricked up the character models, voice acting and atmosphere but the landscapes are still beautiful.
the remaster is fine for newcomers, but if you're a major spyro superfan you might be disappointed by some of the design choices.
It's a very faithful remake however the SOUL of the original is gone for a fresh coat of paint that makes everything look "better".
As someone who fell in love with the series and has played basically every Spyro game, i say it does a good job because it doesn't frick with the mechanics of the original. Design wise, i can see the obvious influence from Skylanders and a heaping dash of furry artists trying to make frickable dragons but if you can ignore that a bit, there's nothing wrong with it really.
Original is objectively better. It's not a matter of opinion. The art and assets were done by talented Insomniac devs during 90s who wanted to leave their mark on the world vs the troony furry poos who did the remaster like mercs for Activision. It is truly the quintessential exemplar of soul vs soulless.
I played both original spyro and remake and I still get depressed after 100%ing everything in the games, I wish the adventure really did continue
Even with the modern industry?
if the people who did the remake made new games I think ill be fine with it, i trust them
You shouldn't. The ones that did the remake of the first spyro (the good one) was a different company (that also did the crash remakes). Another company did the second and third ones. That last company, is the one that did crash 4 wich is not that bad but far from good, they have the technical knowleage, but not the creatividy, direction, artistic merit, or understand what made crash fun, so I doubt they can with spyro, and since they already shown how they fail with remakes and a new game, a new spyro is not a good idea.
Considering the absolute dogshit lows Spyro has been to from 2001-2018, even a mediocre new game would be a fricking godsend
Nope. The original skyboxes were fricking awesome. The remake gains you nothing. Just emulate it
>muh skyboxes!
imagine being such an autist that you play a videogame and do nothing but stare at the swirly colors in the sky and claim it's the best part of the game
I liked it, though I will say I thought that Spyro 3 was a step back from 2. Got it on the cheap for switch and it ran decently. On any other machine I'm sure it's smooth as velvet. But yes, worth the money.
>reignated trilogy Better than the original?
no
>is it worth playing?
eh I guess, I'd rather play the original
>better than the original
If you're not a turbosperg that has autistic meltdowns over "it looks different", then yes, the remakes are better.
>1080p
>no jaggy ps1 textures/models
>characters don't look like muppets anymore
>fixed controls
>fixed physics
>Agent 9 levels now have proper dual-stick controls
>lets you switch between new and old music
>every single elder dragon in the first game now has their own unique model / voice
>Elora is 200% more frickable
>a lot of the voice acting is improved (webm related)
>no jaggy ps1 textures/models
Why wouldn't i like that? The SOVL of the ps1 era comes from the jaggy textures and models.
>If you're not a turbosperg that has autistic meltdowns over "it looks different"
You guys still keep to this talking point? Ganker is known for going on tard rages that last weeks anytime a female character's skirt or cleavage covers slightly more of her skin in her game's remake. That act of censorship is universally agreed upon to be a crime against artistic expression, masculinity, and beauty itself but I can't point out how a game's overall art style and color palette, things that are more integral to its identity as opposed to one character's article of clothing or lack thereof, is too eccentric for you?
No him, but Ganker b***hing about superfluous details gets old after a while and it's always the same 2 or 3 template comparisons while ignoring the vast amount of genuinely good changes/details that outweigh the shit ones, but this is Ganker after all. Like an anon once said: Talking shit takes more precedent over discussing/playing vidya.
As for me? NuSpyro > Old Spyro
>Good changes
Name ONE good change that Reignited did.
Mod support so I can give all the girls big booba
This, better camera controls, silky smooth 60fps (unless you're a consolet, a silky smooth 30), "I'm a Faun, you dork!" and ASMR-tier sound effects. You have mods now so quick your b***hing.
>silky smooth
You did realize the Reignited has HUGE frame pacing issues, right? I have a 4090 and even with that I kept on getting random sub 40 1% lows
Reignited is anything but silky smooth
3070 and 3600xt here. Locked at 120 and aside from a few severe dips when loading levels it played fine for me through all 3 games.
I'm not talking about frame drops but frame pacing. You'd still get them reported as "stable" 60 or whatever fps, but you notice the game stuttering for no apparent reason
>ASMR-tier sound effects.
They absolutely soiled the gem pickup sound effects as well as related ones like the underwater vase smash sound and for Spyro that is unforgivable.
>Ganker collectively does this but I, someone posting on Ganker, am the only the who does not do this here
can you guys possibly have any more cognitive dissonance
>but I can't point out how a game's overall art style and color palette
You can b***h about it all you want, and I can call you out for being a turbosperg that b***hes and moans about small inconsequential changes that nobody else would even care about
>1080p
Anon 1080p is not a positive anymore, if anything it's a negative. Especially in this case considering the godawful prerendered movies
>characters don't look like muppets anymore
If anything they look worse now
>fixed physics
As in?
>webm related
Yeah, trash opinion
>trash opinion
trash opinion
Well goddamn it. I'm a furry now.
>it looks different
you are low IQ if you think this is the entirety of the problem with the graphics.
>u dum!
Not an argument.
I dont remember these physics
its a coomer mod, they add this into every game so that female chests are bowls of jello because "its le hot"
>boobs are...LE BAD
literal homosexual
>coomer homosexual
go back to >>>/b/, you porn addicted homosexual
>female chests are bowls of jello because "its le hot"
Yes. Squishy jiggly boobs are life.
>they add this into every game so that female chests are bowls of jello because "its le hot"
sounds based as frick to me
it's a coomermod
im not a coomer but holy shit the booba mod does make them look so much better
you realise the fauns are meant to be like mockeries of people like paris hilton, right?
to add to this, well they were in the original anyway, I forgot they made them irish in the remake.
They can still be mockeries with gigantic milkers
If you do, be sure to switch to the classic soundtrack ASAP.
>Reignited
First game is improved a lot, second I have no idea what they did but it's godawful, third fixes a few things while breaking other more, making the skate segments in Lost Fleet and Super Bonus World absolutely horrible
>Original
First game is very outdated, you won't notice it as much if it's your first time playing the series
Second is my favourite game of all time and the perfect Spyro game, both mechanically and graphically
Third one has some issues, otherwise is still nice
Personally, I'd recommend original over reignited for the first time playing them, and reignited if you ever want to replay so you can actually see what got changed
They also fricked up the hatchlings in the third game, too busy making the elder dragons their OC apparently.
That was because a scalie worked on the first game, and pretty much he alone made all those dragons
As some examples, Reignited has
>Inaccurate like jump charging giving no momentum now and Spyro in general having a weird arc to his charge, charging overall lacks momentum
>Horrendous physics bugs on PC if you have high fps which affects levels and spyro's physics with jumping/gliding
>Saving glitches fricking up your progress and saves
>Bad lighting badly clashes in certain parts making it easy to miss/not see gems (the Sparx change was a band-aid for this though)
>Pointless censorship to Gnorcs with guns in S1 which ruins the aesthetic of Gnorc level.
>Fricked up artstyle and character designs that ruins the aesthetic and designs from the originals
There's no reason to bother with the remake when it has a worse artstyle and physics than the originals and doesn't add any new content whatsoever.
The Crash remake at least added playable coco and time trials to crash 1 and 2 so you can make some reason if any to play those but reignited doesn't have any extra content, awful bugs which affect gameplay, controls, and your progress and it has a worse artstyle and lighting too
Genuinely no reason to play reignited
>Inaccurate physics like jump charging giving no momentum now and Spyro in general having a weird arc to his charge, charging overall lacks momentum*
The only bugs I ran into playing all 3 remakes were minor graphical stuff, and I played right at release. Genuinely have no idea what people talk about when they say "bugs that affect gameplay" since I never encountered any.
I only had the high FPS one since I default to 144fps. That one hub with the druids was actually uncompletable until I realized it was an FPS thing and turned it down.
glitches fricking up your progress and saves
Afaik that's only if you disable Steam Cloud and later re-enable it
Have you even finished the Super Bonus Round? The Yeti skate track glitches nearly every jump you make
I don't know why this game even has an FPS option on PC, never before have I seen a game break so fricking hard after setting the FPS too high from a fricking in-game menu.
No, I wouldn't put it above the original trilogy but it stands well on it's own. Worth playing. If you're a zoomer who hasn't played the original trilogy just play reignited.
i never played the originals and i really enjoyed it, it's a simple collectathon very comfy
why not both?
just play both, why is this concept so alien to you people?
It's a remake, i won't spend time on both if one is superior to the other.
Superiority just comes down to taste in this case then. Do you like the PS1 graphics? Play the PS1 game. Do you like modern graphics? Play the modern one. I prefer the PS1.
then just play the originals anon
you already got a good amount of info about what's actually different in the remake ITT
i want to take classic spyro
and remake spyro
and make them kiss
and then put various objects up their
Gameplay-wise there is almost no difference between the originals and remake, other than fixing unintended physics exploits in the 2nd/3rd games. The remake does improve Agent 9's levels but that's literally two short levels in the entire game. And it gives you the Sparx gem-finder thing from the start of each game. Outside of that, the gameplay is like 99% identical to the originals.
So really it's down to whether you prefer PS1 graphics or PS4 graphics. There's nothing objectively wrong with the remake's graphics, but things look different so Ganker will cry about it and claim the game is shit because this one NPC that appears in one level looks different than the original. Hence why every thread about this remake trilogy has the same b***hing:
>muh skyboxes
>muh soul
>muh dream-like aesthetic
it's just people b***hing about the graphics being different....yeah no shit it's a PS4 game, of course it's going to look different than a PS1 game.
Personally I love that the remake gives every elder dragon an actual character now, and themes them all to their home worlds. A lot of the NPCs look better too, and Sheila's redesign makes her look less like a generic NPC. And made normies seethe about her being too sexualized because apparently women being attractive is a crime now.
>not a new IP
sounds about right
its alright, its different. not better, but still good. just different
2 > 3 > 1
this is not an opinion, just a statement of fact
It’s worth playing. If you’ve never played the originals might as well go with it.
If you are an actual human you will prefer the original
I want Magnus and Devlin to be my gay dads.
i'll just leave this here
Left
>simple, gives player control back sooner, clear indication from Zoe that the game is saved.
Right
>particle effect garbage catered to zoomie kids
these games are all overrated. PS2 games are especially bad.
Faunbags
>faunbags
>fixed face
PC chads literally cannot stop winning
homosexual
>go back to >>>/b/, you porn addicted homosexual
have a nice day you useless fricking wojackspamming homosexual
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
wife
very cute
skylanders was genuinely fun
not faithful enough to original spyro to have him in the name, but still quite fun on its own
you need to be 18 to use this site
the original game released in 2011, over a decade ago.
I played it when I was 14.
I'm 25 now and think its switching gimmick was clever.
both are perfect games but the original is a 150% while the remake is a 100%
So fricking cute
How long on average does it take to beat each of the 3 games? I want to play them tonight, but I don't have a lot of extra time on my hands.
If you beeline the game, they only take like 2 or 3 hours each lol
But if you are a completionist it will take many frustrating hours
