I still don't know what an NFT actually is
Rere Pepe but you pay money for it
It really do be like that, but even we understood that the only way to truly keep a pepe rare was to never post it because as soon as its saved it loses its rarity
how much would this one go for? Ill email someone this Pepe for 1 bitcoin unless theres any higher bids.
I will pay 1 (You)
I will trade you this one I made in paint. So it's ultra rare
You don't even pay money for the pepe.
You pay for a few bits that says that pepe is yours while thousands of redditors copy and post it DGAF.
It's like if you could sell your personal reaction image folder to the highest bidder.
literally paying for a .jpg
but to confirm that its actually yours and not someone elses you need to spend $600 in electricity costs and server time to verify the bitcoin that's attached to it, to make sure that its yours
you ever play a MMO game and you get a unique rare item? now imagine if only say 50 or so of those items exist in the whole game. imagine if you could sell that unique item to another player for in-game currency which you could then exchange for real currency/money. thats basically NFTs
So it's real money trading but with extra steps?
>now imagine if only say 50 or so of those items exist in the whole game
there's already an MMO thats been doing this for 20 years anon
but naturally Ganker-casuals dont play good games, let alone good MMOs
>tfw I haven't played EVE in years
>tfw I have several Original Blueprints chilling in a container somewhere, never to be used
>its like tf2 unusuals but it requires the processing power of a small town to function
what a reasonable thing to sell fucking tomb raider and deus ex for
Just want to point out that in no way shape of form is the blockchain required to do what anon has proposed here. In fact, Steam has been doing it for years.
The point of blockchain is it's """"decentralized"""" which is completely pointless for a video game.
So in reality, in this use case, "NFT" is simply being used as a buzzword to attempt to milk retards that think cryptocurrency is actual currency and not a ponzi scheme.
The point of being decentralised is that anyone can speculate on the currency and items, not only people playing the game, the stuff can get memed and people will buy it just to try to make sure which cash and the value can skyrocket
And how is that meant to be a good thing?
The stuff that skyrockets in "value" in CSGo and the like isn't happening because people want them. It's credit card fraud and money laundering. Someone needs to get money to someone else without tripping any red flags, so they "buy" something worthless for way too much money. Sometimes it's a reciprocal transaction so that 100 dodgy credit cards turns into $10000 of legit cash from "customers." Along the way some lucky idiots manage to sell their actually legit trash to some other gullible fool but the odds of this happening to you are so small it's not something you should advocate for. We're lucky NFTs have always been recognised as fraud and cancer since day 0, real money cash shops in games are also cancer backed by fraud and gamers shouldn't be so accepting of them.
But you're selling JPG's. Which means that anyone with a screenshot capable device is now able to copy what you have. Items in MMOs work because you can't use that item outside the MMO, to my understanding NFT's are literal pictures that can be used anywhere.
>to my understanding NFT's are literal pictures that can be used anywhere.
you dont understand anything. why would it be a picture? it can obviously be an item or any data
>it can obviously be an item or any data
Except ir cant because that would reqire infeasible amounts of processing power
It's why NFTs are still just urls like that proof of concept demonstration instead of jpegs, even now.
the amount of processing power it takes is why this idea is coming to fruition in the 2020s you utter genius
>It's why NFTs are still just urls instead of jpegs even now
Read, you butthurt retard. Try again after nfts become something more than paid broken links
>to my understanding NFT's are literal pictures that can be used anywhere.
You really should stop talking lol
That's not how game development works.
Dota 2 already does that and one of the lead programmers has already gone on big rants about how a basic database from the game admin's does the same fucking thing for cheaper since the item is worthless outside of the game.
Given SE's size and number of controlled franchises I think they're aiming to make the items worth something between their big hitter franchises, more than just within one game.
Try to drive sales of Just Cause by including loot with attached tokens that can be transferred to like Kingdom Hearts and give you some cosmetic bonus or gameplay bonus.
Something like that could only be coordinated from the studio executive level down however. And would require a lot of effort to build multiple franchise installments on the same engines or at least build in a lot of compatibility for data.
Its also a lot of man hours spent modeling and implementing objects in multiple games that only a tiny fraction of the user base will ever see let alone use
That sounds exactly like something Square Enix would do.
They're masters at throwing away retarded amounts of money.
Thing I don't get is why they'd bother. I mean, Valve takes a cut of every CSGo skin that's bought and sold because they control the marketplace. SE doesn't control the marketplace for whatever token they are building this on so they can only guarantee money for the initial offering and not the repeat trades. If they make a SE token that then control that can only be traded on their marketplace nobody is going to care and it's just a cash shop with extra steps. I mean, hopefully nobody will care anyway.
Something that only exists as a vehicle for people to scam and cheat money out of others with.
is that a fucking leebait image
this comic is extremely unrealistic because nobody would every say "I really, really like this image" about an NFT
what if it's a NFT of a banana?
TF2 hats but connected to a blockchain
it doesn't matter, they want to use it to make game even less fun and more profitable
Pay hundreds to thousands of dollars for a receipt (stored on the seller's server) that you own a unique image
An NFT is a receipt that shows you purchased a bit of space on a database. You don't own the image that represents it, nor do you actually own that bit of space on the database, you just own the receipt that says you paid for the receipt.
It's a cash grab from delusional crypto bros and nothing else, and major game devs tried to jump on the bandwagon because they want to milk as much money from consumers as possible. They're only pushed because they can be sold for crypto coins which can be converted to actual money, but the reality is that something like 20% of people who use cryptocoin have NFTs and of that 20%, 3% hold 90% of all value. It's a joke
Anyone who tries to say "imagine if you bought a skin in X game and transferred it to Y and Z games! NFTs will make that real!" misunderstands what NFTs are on a fundamental level
>There is a world where DLC could have been represented by NFTs and carry over as content between multiple games (both forward and backwards)
>Devs could have used this tech to make certain things like eternal new entries into a franchise (I'm imagining something like a new class in a later Disgaea that you can have in every Disgaea both forward and back)
>Instead it's basically 100% crypto scams by retards who pretend it's anything but just a crypto scam
is a world where DLC could have been represented by NFTs and carry over as content between multiple games (both forward and backwards)
No there isn't because this isn't how game development works
Skylander and amibo say hi.
Skylander even have to netf old toy(dlc) because no one buy new one anymore.
>dev makes DLC for one game
>sells it once
>has to now make corresponding content for that one game forever for all new games despite no longer making any profit off of it
this was always a deluded pipedream
Not to mention it also assumes stupidly like you can just copy code and art assets from one game to another despite them being nothing alike down to how the games were made. As if my ace combat superplane supposed to somehow be usable in elden ring
NFTs like that only work in a Metaverse situation like Ready Player One.
This won't work. The NFT isn't game code. The NFT is just a record of who purchased what, effectively. The developers would need to code an entirely new game and then add to the code "the player who has This NFT gets This reward, etc."
This isn't really worth the hassle. For one, this has been done long before the internet was even popular. Pokemon is the biggest example. Square even did something similar with Legend of Mana, where it would grab information from one memory card for P2 and put it back when you were done paying. Hell, games like Monster Rancher, Suikoden, Xenosaga, and .hack actually took data from an older game in the series and transferred it to the next game, using memory cards.
But this method can't add new features to an old game. Not unless the old game is coded to accept those features, and it would mean a HUGE tax to generate a NFT to store a full character model with sprites, especially for a single person. We're talking hundreds of dollars or more per individual one. I don't think you want to buy $800 DLC for your $40 game.
I might be curious about some of these, but after what Chocobo GP did with its initial launch state, I'm just too pissed at Square to even look at one of their new games. Not to mention worried about how the others turned out.
I was actually about to get Chocobo GP till I found out about the MtX scam. The in game currency has been made worthless and development has been put on ice. Rumors of EoS already exist, along with no way to get previous content.
Team Fortress 2 already had this idea with cross-game promotional items. Did you want the cool new cosmetics from Poker Night at the Inventory? Then buy the games and beat the challenges.
>There is a world where DLC could have been represented by NFTs and carry over as content between multiple games (both forward and backwards)
It was already possible to do this without NFTs. It doesn't happen because devs don't want to do it.
>Anyone who tries to say "imagine if you bought a skin in X game and transferred it to Y and Z games! NFTs will make that real!" misunderstands what NFTs are on a fundamental level
They also misunderstand game development. No one would ever build something like this.
It’s a unique digital collectible that has verifiable proof that a) the person who owns it says he owns it and b) it is authentic.
Kind of like how you take a painting to a guy who says it’s legit, but in this case you know 100% it’s legit instead of needing to trust the guy
It's a speculative market based on cryptocurrencies that pretends it's offering you something of value, usually a shitty mass produced "art" picture.
It's a unique code that has a file attached to it.
It's like graded game cartridges but for jpegs
an nft is basically a digital token containing a link to a jpg
>I still don't know what an NFT actually is
In short: It is a scam.
In more detail: It is a record that you acquired a bit of data, generally just the URL of an image located somewhere on the internet. The record is kept on a bunch of computers across the world, kind of like The Cloud or how a torrent works. So if one copy goes away, the record is still there.
The exact method involves chaining all the records of every person together (called the blockchain) and making the whole thing publicly available, meaning everybody can fully see the record. It also used encryption technology on your device, normally a phone, to prevent someone from pretending to be you. Of course, this doesn't stop anyone from tricking you into getting your NFT. or stealing your password. or you losing your phone. And there's no way to get your NFT back if it's lost, since the same methods that prevent someone from just taking it from you also prevent someone from taking it from somebody else and giving it to you.
Also, there's nothing to stop whatever is at that URL from changing. Or no longer hosting the image. Or the server going down. You don't own the image. You don't own the copyright of the image. You don't even own the URL. You "own" the bit of data that mentions the URL in the blockchain.
Oh, and if buying a bit of text that mentions a URL for thousands of dollars isn't enough of a scam: A lot of these NFT people just take all the money they got and disappear. Meaning that you can't just sell your NFT, you need to find someone with thousands of dollars who wants one. Which is why the "market" around these things crashed.
Imagine making something digital. Like a JPEG or an asset or an audio file, etc. And you could sell the ownership of it. And as proof of ownership, it is linked to some blockchain bullshit. That's NFT.
It was basically a scam for the 1% to get richer. Not joking
The digital equivalent of autographed trading cards except not even that because a NFT is a hyperlink, not the image itself
Its literally you paying to get a receipt saying you paid for something. Then you try to trick people into taking your receipts and handing you something else.
Yes, it is exactly as retarded as it sounds.
Imagine having a girlfriend but other guys still get to fuck her for free
Little token indicating some piece of code is unique. Associated contracts can point towards files, weblinks, etc, to attach the token to something specific. Normally this is added to a blockchain or record of data and transfers.
This in effect makes it so that a given image, line of game code, song, most anything, can be given artificial scarcity and can identifiably be transferred between parties and locations.
How it relates to games is fairly limited.
Theoretically cosmetics and the like could be transferred between games, but that'd require individual dev teams to have built that functionality in purposefully, and for them to have compatibility checked every potential transfer.
Generally how it relates to anything is fairly limited because the concept really doesn't apply to much that isn't already effectively handled.
and all the rest...
How does NFT improve or help games???
it doesn't, you can sell users the idea of a game where they get totally unique items or things worth actual money
ie life controlling mind controlling shit to make people lose their life on games.
The idea of a NFT is to have something with you "own" and nobody else can own, which means you can sell it. Nobody else gets to use it unless they own it. So it doesn't help games at all, it just helps provide some sort of potential resale to some aspect of a game.
Because I'm sure a lot of people would want to buy that +8 armor from the original Diablo these days.
Seems pretty cool to me. A unique item in a ARPG which is actually literally unique.
Well, that's the idea. The actual implementation is that it's a recipt that says how much you paid for the recipt, and a pointer thay points to a publicly accessable file which is in no way protected from copying, altering, or outright deleting, at least not by the NFT part.
>which is in no way protected from copying, altering, or outright deleting, at least not by the NFT part.
My favorite thing abouf the NFT fad other than "muh #rightclick victim!" was this
>NFTshills keep arguind and crying that NFTs could help artists protect their works from duplication and retain value for selling
>A while later
>artists everywhere start complaining that NFTs are used to profit off their works without their permission
>artists start issuing DMCA takedowns
>dozens of nfts become worthless because they're now reduced to links that direct to "This file is unavailable."
>No refunds lmao
>NFTards become so upset the never use this shill point again
Sqeenix, if they planned this out could make it so that you can transfer cosmetics from Final Fantasy to Nier to Dragon Quest. Or have easter eggs where you need to import an item earned in one game to access content in another, a key you find in Nier that you can use to open a door in Final Fantasy. The NFT token being checks to make sure that your key or cosmetic is legit, and to allow for a marketplace where people sell them, probably with Squeenix taking a cut.
So long as all were built to allow for that, and this was all planned out ahead of time it could be possible. Within single studios exerting executive control and enforcing compatibility across different franchises.
There's nothing thats been described that couldn't be done with regular ass save files if they really wanted
The NFTs mainly just add the ability to create an external marketplace for the goods that 'ideally' will be resistant to spoofing or fakes. An attempt to replicate CS:GO or TF2 skins but between franchises with the token mainly existing to hamper injection I suppose.
>that 'ideally' will be resistant to spoofing or fakes
It would probably do the opposite. Someone would find a bug that allows someone to create smart contracts that grant them something they didn't earn, game can't be patched easily because it needs to maintain support for all prior contracts. Developer winds up having to create a whitelist of allowable objects and allowed trades and synchronise the two making the whole NFT marketplace an unnecessary wart on their in game trading platform.
Smart Contracts are disgustingly abusable and have basically no safety rails built in. And players have every incentive to try to break the system too.
bro, web 3.0, metaverse, digital trading cards, its the future stop questioning it.
>bro, web 3.0, metaverse, digital trading cards, its the future stop questioning it.
But now everybody is saying AI chatbots are the future.
Its a receipt that says you own a virtual good. The only real world use case I can think of is reselling software but you run into the issue of "okay you have an NFT that says you bought a game from Steam what happens when Steam shuts their serves off and you can't request to download that game?"
Official Rare Pepe by Brand™
You know what a pointer is in computer programming? An NFT is basically that. It's a pointer, an address. A numeric value that typically encodes the location of something, although the numeric value itself might not actually point to anything valid, and it doesn't control whatever it points at - it's just a value that can be interpreted as an address.
That's all it is. You don't own whatever it points to. You don't control whatever it points to. You just own - on that particular blockchain - a numeric value which can be interpreted as the address of something.
an ugly attempt at increasing the value of a crypto token by forcing a purpose onto it (because it previously had none) and then artificially generating hype around that purpose by using buzzphrases like "its decentralized!!" and "make money by playing games!!" and "transfer unique items to other games to use!!"
Those items will likely only actually transfer to games made by the same company btw. nintendo is not going to implement a moonlight greatsword into a zelda or a fucking mario or whatever, and likewise From isn't going to implement a Hyrulian Master Sword into Dark Souls 6. It's a fucking stupid venture and also the epitome of soulless.
Its like if you really believed Monopoly money was worth the numbers printed on it but on the money was just an image on a computer with a unique ID.
The ultimate form of speculation. You pay money for nothing and hope that there's a bigger fool to buy that nothing from you.
And a majority of these sales are between different wallets of the same person or between a friend group who are doing it to make it seem as if the specific nothing they're selling is popular and a smart piece of nothing to invest your money into. So when you buy that nothing everybody else interested in buying that nothing disappears.
You're buying a receipt that says you own a jpg, it only has value because people think it has value and you can't do anything with it other than show it off. I would rather buy a csgo skin tbh
it has value because all the receipts are attached to each other and verify each other
that is where the inherent idea of the value of a blockchain asset comes from, it can be verified to "exist"
essentially it's a baseball card
i have to write a research proposal or whatever it's called in english for some shit on nfts in libraries, it's due tomorrow
Imagine going to the museum, looking at a piece of art you like and buying it.
...but you don't actually get to take the picture home with you, you get a receipt saying you own it, and the receipt includes a photocopied picture of the art you like.
Also, you don't technically "own" the picture, you own an arbitrary amount of currency attached to the picture that goes up and down on a whim, completely out of your control, and at best you maybe own the spot on the wall the art hangs on.
Also, every time the "picture" is sold, a few acres of a forest somewhere burns down.
Also, if anything happens to the museum, they sell it, it burns down, it gets new management, someone steals your receipt, etc., you're shit out of luck unless you get super lucky or you're really diligent about paying attention to some of the inner workings on how all this goes.
Now take all that and just reimagine it as digital instead of physical, so you don't even get the satisfaction of walking to the museum with some buddies and playing pretend you own the art on the wall.
>go into a supermarket
>buy 2 steaks, gallon of milk and a pack of cigarettes
>go to the cashier and pay
>she gives you a receipt
>you leave the basket with the goods with the cashier
>exit the store
the receipt is the nft
you can visit the store whenever you want and look at the goods you "own" with that receipt
next week they replaced all the milk with soimilk, the steak is made out of bugs and your cigarettes are now vape sticks
you can only view the new goods because the receipt doesnt ensure the original goods stay the same
a week after the store closes
you receipt leads you to a 404 page
thats basically nft
you may wonder, why do people fall for this?
because they either dont understand it or understand it and want to scam people
You aren't supposed to know. if people knew, they wouldn't waste their money
not a .jpg, but a LINK of that image file.
It's the greatest scam ever
The thing about nfts is. Im sure there will be a way they can be implemented in games where people waste tons of money to get exclusive content, like gachas and mmos
But as it is now, it's a scam.
There's no good reason to have any such system decentralized, there's not even a good reason for banking to be decentralized.
I dont like nfts, but i sure think it could work somehow, this is my point.
There is entire games based on getting special characters or unique outfits/values for those characters
Yeah it could work it's not difficult to implement either, it's just completely pointless.
The objective of nfts was never to be useful, just to make money.
You can just watch the preface to get an idea or watch more.
If is too long then I would tell you lurk more but you probably lost attention a sentence ago.
It's a link to a jpeg
When you buy groceries from the store, you get a receipt for the shit you bought right? Imagine that, but without the groceries
>literally paying for a .jpg
No, you're paying for a HTTP link stored on the blockchain which might point to a jpg on a centrally controlled server.
A blockchain receipt for a jpeg of a baseball card.
Put me on the screencap
It's a scam
Doomposters always say the same buzz words
The reality is that this is sunk GAIN. In other words, SE and Yoshida will get a massive pay off from NFTs. KYS doomposter
>SE and Yoshida will get a massive pay off from NFTs
Oh yeah the same shit thar crashed and burned and barely anyone gives a shit about anymore. Even religious NFT shills have moved on to trying to argue that you own AI art and can get money & reputation from it
>Even religious NFT shills have moved on to trying to argue that you own AI art and can get money & reputation from it
Unfortunately, you're only half right.
so bandwagon fallacy to dismiss out of hand. thanks for raging with your illogic early so I knew to avoid reading the rest of your nonsense.
>barry is also a crypto bagholder
is also a crypto bagholder
>caring what that nintenchud has to say
he's a halo man
why do dudes like this choose to wear such horrid fucking glasses? hes badly balding but other than that he isnt an ugly fuck, but his glasses takes him from a solid 7/10 to a 3/0
>dude, wear black framed onions glasses
his frames are fine, odd thing to pick out, i'm sure you think plastic onions glasses frames are the only frames
and he's not a 7 because he has odd features like a high forehead and a Black nose as well as a gay onions beard
funny you say that, he recently stopped wearing glasses. must have got contacts or something
what the fuck went so suddenly wrong with SE?
Anon they've been doing the most retarded shit for over 2 decades, they literally cannot help themselves.
SquareSoft merged with Enix, it was all downhill from there
>make shitty action game instead of turn based rpg
>bro you can't criticize my shitty remake
tongue anus you low iq mullato mutt.
The fact this image works every time is why people like him keep posting it.
It's funny that Dragon Quest is still good but most of the Square stuff is pretty much trash nowadays.
What, DQ is good but FF is king.
because it had the holy trio Toriyama/Hori/Sugiyama(rip)
>hmm should we just release a Classic re-release of our most profitable game we've ever made, that fans are literally begging for?
>lets keep making shitty casual corridor RPGs and dump our profits into a ponzi scheme
>yeah, that's surely what the fans want
I'm part of the problem because I buy casual corridor RPGs.
Don't be, they are the only games worth playing anymore.
you dont actually want a truly classic ffxi server
I actually do if they update the ui and make menu navigation easier.
They literally don't have the code. They have explained this. At best they could do something like what ASB is doing where it's all guesstimates from JP blogs and their own testing.
>They literally don't have the code.
>when neckbeards reverse engineered it for free using just the item and character model assets and nothing else
lol nah SE are just lazycunt fag devs like every game dev
if some fucking fatcunt in a shed can reverse engineer the entire fucking MMO in his free time, a multi BILLION dollar company can throw a few pajeets at it for a month to do the same thing, or better yet, just offer to buy the private server code from DSP
a multi MILLION dollar company, now
They outsourced a FF XI remake to Nexxon but Nexxon apparently fucked up so it was cancelled.
Maybe they've restarted it in-house?
the xi team is still like 3 dudes and a ps2 devkit
>lets keep making shitty casual corridor RPGs and dump our profits into a ponzi scheme
That's what FFXIV is and people are still playing that 🙁
You can post the article yourself you don't need to shit up the board with your eceleb garbage
>Generally think Ganker is far too overmoderated
>The one thing I want them to clamp down on they ban you for asking them to do something about it.
I don't even want it to be a banned topic I understand it's something important to zoomers, I just want them contained elsewhere while they do it, just make one eceleb board that covers multiple topics and if it proves too fast split it up a bit more like a Vidya eceleb board and an other eceleb board
containment does not work. it legitimizes topics you dont want and creates subcommunities based solely around that topic. 4chan should have never been legitimized.
/incel/ would've been a kiwifarms knockoff loaded with gay ops and doxxing. Making a board like that on here would be like making a gamer gate board.
Never, you mongoloids
It's utterly and fucking useless to ask for a dedicated board if it's not duly enforced that content specifically made for it stays there and doesn't spread elsewhere
There's a reason why everyone mocks Ganker after gacha generals staying around here regardless
That's because the mods went full retard and banned generals on Ganker so gachamorons laughed at it and continued to shit up /vg/ to this day
megalomaniac business visionaries assess the technological landscape and push for experiments in new areas of innovation that could transform games from mere toys into something that matters. seethecels on Ganker unable to cope
when is he gonna put his glasses back on
>falling for a gnomish ponzi scheme that everyone else is already wise to
Why are Japs so sloooooooow?
That's what happens when you get BTFO by gunboats in the 18th century followed by nukes in the 19th. Whito piggo is so smart and advanced, everything he does must be imitated or you risk getting annihilated.
Damn, the chinks had nukes 100 years earlier?
thats one way to put it, in about 22 more years at least.
Superior Nipponese business folded 100 times will make it work!
Isolationism, cultural and language barrier
watch them heavily inject pozzed shit into their games way after it dies out in the us and europe
I hope they learn from flopshitten, but they never do
>after it dies out in the us and europe
they wasted a ton of their actual money for toy tokens like every other crypto gay, so they're obligated to push it just to see if they can lose as little as possible. they're probably already aware they aren't even getting back 100% let alone more.
US chuds think Japan is based but in actuality they are like 10 years behind in culture.
Their games will be as pozzed as current western games in the near future.
I don't wanna end up playing only chinks games, bros...
everything in life is a ponzi, one should benefit from it
good, put them in FFXIV so I can finally quit
For something collectible to have real value you have to have at least one person out there who wants to buy it and keep it forever and literally every person who buys NFTs is rubbing their hands together fantasizing about how they're going to sell it at a profit someday.
did you know these games came out last year? they've gone under my radar, not even counting all the remasters
I remember seeing threads about Live a Live and Triangle Strategy
But I never cared about looking into them
some of these legit seem like a game you would see inside another game
fucking VARIOUS DAYLIFE? really?
Why is a company called Square making a game about Triangles that's a completely different shape you fucks.
I Was excited for chobo gp of all fucking things but then I saw it had some atrocious monetization and lost all interest
could've patched it all out for all I fucking know but the initial sting was enough. I don't play games they design to garden gnome me on
it's insane that a fucking nexon game of all things has less cancerous monetization. also they chose to release their kart racer only for tendies who already have mario kart rather than on ps4 or xbox which do not have a dominant kart racer
it's not all kusoge, but certainly Shovel-ware.
Live A Live was my GOTY last year but I'm incredibly biased because the OG was one of my favorite games. Heard Triangle was pretty good, too but never got around to it.
I liked it, just imagine Tactics Ogre LUCT but for children.
babylons fall was so bad they pulled it from stores within like 6 months. shame I wanted to see just how janky it was for myself.
triangle strategy, livealive, harvestella and valkyrie elysium are all serviceable, not perfect but fit into a AA kinda space. the rest are 100% trash
I found out about Paranormasight around 40 minutes ago from someone who likes those kinds of things. Only vaguely remember most of the others though and played the demos for Dio/Valk/Harvestella and none impressed. These mid range game projects need to stop being full retail price though.
>don't do marketing for any of them
>randomly release them
>wtf how did they flop?
Marketing the would have cost more than making them.
They know these are niche games.
instead they burn 75 million with forspoken instead, brilliant financial decision there Square
75 was only for the cost of development, they probably spent another good chunk for marketing, though not as much as FF7R
>spend 10M making remakes and other AA games
>lose 9M because nobody bought them
>full priced isometric farming RPG w/o voice dubbing
They are only meant for you, the JRPG nerds.
If you don't buy them no one else will, no matter how much they shill to "normal gamers."
the people who'd buy them don't even know they exist
Harvestella was shilled here a lot by chuds. Other than that, no.
it was a good game, no chuds needed
I bought Harvestella, it's fun
I bought valkyrie elysium for 30 bucks and it was still a huge mistake.
I wanted to get Live a Live because I wanted to play it in 1994
but releasing that game for $40 is emblematic of modern square...insulting at its core. I would've paid $10
It's a complete remake with some new content. Retard.
...and? its a complete remake of a game 4 students can make in 1000 hours today. its not worth 40 dollars lmao
also has voice acting
stop playing dumb
>muh voice acting
Dont tell me you're a dubfag on top of this idiocy
human workers cost money dimbrain
......still doesnt change the fact that its not worth 40 dollars lmao
It's an entirely new game with voice acting, idk what you were expecting.
lmao square enix dicksucker bought fucking live a live for 40 bucks
a game youve been able to emulate for 25 years, you bought for 40 bucks
a good game, your loss
i mean its prob good yeah i wanted to play it fuckin nearly 30 years ago
but its not worth $40
you had all that time to emulate it
yeah its a who cares situation. i never wanted to emulate it, not into fan translations
It's Switch, just emulated it, the new version I mean.
...and? voice acting from nobodies isn't remotely expensive. I am an amateur and can out-act countless performances in (especially japanese) games in a multitude of roles, I don't cost anything.
I understand that you dicksuck square enix because you weren't alive in 1994 and don't understand that square had a period of relevancy that is long over, but the game isn't worth $40. it'd be equivalent to some RPG maker game today, and VA doesn't change that at all
I actually dont even care for voiced jrpgs, adds nothing to a game like that where im just trying to go through the dialogue as fast as possible
what? are you blind or something? who could forget the instant classics such as
my guy, you're dead to me if you never played TRIANGLE STRATEGY
Paranormasight came out 3 days ago and they made literally no effort to advertise it in the west (It was only shown in the japanese nintendo direct).
Really a shame though, since it's one of their better recent releases.
>since it's one of their better recent releases.
it's a fucking shovelware VN
shit's I've found 5 new games I never heard of before on this thread
Voice of Card = Yui Ishikawa narrator voice = sex
Live A Live = great
Triangle Strategy = masterpiece
Harvestella = ok
Diofield = ok
the rest are trash
I know all of them.
Didn't play it.
Didn't play it.
Erase it from exitence, absolute dogshit.
Didn't play it.
Didn't play it.
Didn't play it.
Didn't play it.
Live a live, triangle strategy and octopath are cool, I knew about starocean, diofield valkyrie and babylon fail and maybe I will try diofield someday and star ocean when I will get better graphics card , didn't even knew rest existed
Dragon Quest Treasures was fun for a bit, mostly due to nostalgia, collecting trophies of various characters, monsters and items from previous games
but tbh nostalgia is the only thing that game got going for it, neither the treasure hunting nor the combat is anything special
I had some hope with Chobo GP since I enjoyed the original one but when I heard that it uses currency and shit, it ruined my interests. I hope there's a mod version where all things can be unlocked via gameplay or something and not some currency stuff.
I'm not expecting something grand, hell I was expecting OK/mediocre at best, but why the hell did they OK'd with the live shop shit? The original series wasn't even that popular.
if i liked star ocean the last hope would i like the divine force?
Did you generate these with AI?
Nta but do you play smaller games? production-wise
Or only AAAs?
Mostly shovelware on the switch
I will wait for a Final Fantasy X Front Mission crossover.
Because a Wanzer where the pilot can use magic through it and dual-wield gun-blades sounds interesting.
I knew about the LAL, Chocobo racer and Babylon's Fall post release shitshow. Personally i enjoyed this little short game by a Squaresoft copycat
>beasts of burden
good with patches
>live a live remake
a flop to rival forespoken
never heard of anyone playing it lmao
Seems like paranormasight is amazing. And chocobo gp is a good game but was killed by bad monetization practices. They at least removed them later.
Various daylife is just a port of an apple store game
I only know Babylon's Fall because it was such a flop that everyone was talking about it
Most Square games just look so generic, there's nothing that makes me want to play them.
It is just taste. I see Bethesda games and think people need to be kinda retarded to play them, but it is normal.
Square went from producing hit after hit to produce nothing but garbage non-stop.
Live a Live is possibly the only good game there and only because is a remake of a game from before the company went to shit and as is typical of Japanese idiocy they release it exclusively on the system with the lowest potential to sell. Nothing sells on Nintendo systems unless it is made by Nintendo. If is not Mario, Pokemon, Zelda then is not going to sell buddy. It's a waste of time and money.
>If is not Mario, Pokemon, Zelda then is not going to sell buddy. It's a waste of time and money.
dont forget Monster Hunter
i really dont know what SE is waiting to make one with DQ or FF ip
none of them feature a girl as sexual as riku form x2 so I my interest was not peaked
WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU JUST SAY ABOUT THE SWITCH
PS5 bundles for Xmas!
what exactly was the appeal of Forspoken? who were they trying to garner towards? they need to go back to their roots, not making cinematic marvel like trash.
all the MCU-like shit coming out is just looking at the movies at a surface level and thinking the quiprs or big flashy action sequences is what draws an audience and not the decades of buildup and marketing that manipulated people into seeing the new movies on pure association. the movies are basically a massive fucking psyop to garner a loyal recurring audience and literally nothing trying to copy it seems to get that
Japan did the thing again where they look at what's cool in the west and tries to copy it while missing the mark so it ends up looking more like a parody instead. Usually it's charming but they missed the mark twice this time by copying something nobody likes in the first place. It's not even about moron characters for me, I'd love to play Final Fantasy: San Andreas. Instead we got more corporate slop
Good. NFTs are the future regardless of your luddite predilections.
unfortunately that anon is right. unless someone does something about it or society as a whole just stop accepting the illusion fed to them. we truly need a hero to save us.
I predict that electricity will be extinct in 5 years. How's that for luddite? Get fucked.
I hate NFTfags because they're always so high and mighty about the shit their shilling only to make millions of excuses or just go quiet when their NFT project fails. They constantly talk shit about people who are mildly skeptical and try to bait people into that shit using FOMO strats.
Who the fuck defines the value of the NFT? You can say your shit is worth millions but if no one is willing to buy it, then it's not worth millions.
A lot of these people are armchair speculators. They watch some youtube videos and assume they know everything. They are 100% optimism and 0% restraint, and have some money to throw around. Or rather, they DID have some money to throw around.
That's why they shill so hard. The only way they're getting their money back is if they can convince somebody to buy their NFT for the $1000 they spent. The shit's not useful, it's not practical, nobody wants it. But if they can convince somebody to buy it, then they'll make their profit. So they shove all their effort into hyping it up and talking about how much profit it will be worth, and hoping there's a rich sucker out there who hasn't heard the news and will buy it up on their word alone.
"Always the bigger sucker," as they say.
NFTfags have to shill. The whole thing is a textbook Ponzi scheme. The only way any money comes in is by finding new marks to scam.
your reaction is natural because you are dealing with people who want to scam you.
in real life the proper response would be to beat them up.
Literally every game with NFTs I have tested has died horribly or will eternally be in "development" as a money stealing scam.
How doe Square Enix plan to make NFT games viable when no one has?
You are being too generous in even thinking SE has a
in the first place.
>NFT BAD!!! BECAUSE J-JPG! MUH LE ENVIRONMENT!!
>OH MY SCIENCE! GENCHINK IMPACT JUST RELEASED A NEW GURRRLL!! WAIFU WAIFU WAIFU!!
>I-IS THAT ANOTHER SABERFACE!! OH MY BEAST OF CALAMITY!! HAVE TO BUY QUARTZ!!
>I-IS THAT A HOUSE IN MY FFXIV SERVER!! HAVE TO BUY IT. IS THAT A CAT OUTFIT!! IS THAT A SAAMI OUTFIT!! AAAAAAAGGHH PLEASE FUCK MY ASSHOLE YOSHITPISS!!
Daily reminder that the gays who're blindly seething over NFTs are also twitter gacha gays and xivchuds
t. retarded cryptomoron desperately trying to get other retards to buy into the newest scam
>NOOOOO NFTS ARE S-SCAMS BECAUSE T-TWITTER SAID SO!! STOP TRYING TO MAKE MONEY!! T-THAT'S ILLEGAL!!
>DUUUUUUUDE $20 MOUNT?!! AND IT'S A WHALE??!! BASED YOSHITPISS!! NOW I CAN "OWN" IT!! *until the server closes*
Go back to your shitty dress sim for trannies xivchuds
>NOOOOO NFTS ARE S-SCAMS BECAUSE T-TWITTER SAID SO!!
Yeah and? Twitter says to trust snake oil salesmen like Vereecke so I dont. Cry about it.
>a conversation with a person that exists entirely within his own mind
>crappy effort at a cool kid one liner
>all to try to try to white knight for NFTs lol
don't @ me
>zivchuds have literally no argument to defend their shitty digital dressing sim
I hope based Kiryu will force yoshitpiss to add NFT housing in XIV. The day your shitty dressing sim MMO close downs will be the day you chuds 41% yourself. No matter how hard you pray to yoshitpiss, you will never ever get a refund on your digital skins, mounts or houses.
This website is great if you want to have a laugh at failed NFTs and Crypto projects. You will soon find just how often this stuff fails.
I feel that Bitcoin could be an alternative, but when almost everyone uses it as a speculative asset to make more paper money, they have no real faith in it.
If you actually look at how much money they lost on Flopspoken and FF15 opposed to their value as a company it means absolutely nothing. It's just another thing to say they're doing so that investors continue to be hyped on results which will never come. All of their dividend profit just comes from inflation and the fact the FF brand is so large they could blunder for a decade straight then still turn massive profits. These companies are too big to fail. Too big to fail is the reality we live in and why everything stagnates from the most fundamental financial level
I just can't see how a blockchain game could be profitable.
Bitcoin already uses as much power as a mid-sized European nation like Finland. Even if you made the most profitable game on the planet you can't justify server costs like that.
On the other hand using someone elses blockchain services and tying your game to them is an even worse idea with crypto being a wildly speculative market and also dying at the moment. It's what Ubisoft tried and failed at.
>I just can't see how a blockchain game could be profitable.
Take a look at how Axie Infinity does it:
Players buy an Axie for around $350 each.
However, you need a team of three, so that's over $1000.
HOWEVER, your stats are randomly generated, so it's really buying three Axie lootboxes.
You could end up with crap, so you'll generally expect to spend several thousand to start playing.
You then play the game, PvP style, with the strongest team winning. You can expect to earn around $10 per day.
OR you could hire some other poor sucker to play your team and earn money for you. This is generally 50/50 profits, so around $5 per day for you.
Buy up more teams, have more noobs run them, and generate more income.
Sell all the crap Axis to the new players who haven't figured this all out, and are buying them expecting it to just be Pokemon.
Of course, the developers of Axie Infinity get money from every one of these exchanges. They get money when they're purchased, they get money when they're sold, they get money when a sucker plays a team for another person, they even get money when anyone cashes out for real world dollars.
this is called a pyramid scheme
it's illegal in developed countries
everything crypto is just frauds rerunning ancient scams that have been regulated.
yeah literally that. anybody couldve picked up a history book on financial scams and made some bank with it. NFTs as an example are what they call a "gold brick scam".
whats crazy is that retards really fell for it.
NFTs are something Japanese investors are excited about which is why they keep mentioning them in these shareholder meetings
They won't be doing shit once the president is ousted
what's up with the dude in the bottom right?
looks like FAS or down syndrome
he's a game youtuber, ugly, short, talks like a fag, but I think his viewers connect with him as fellow Nintendo autists
NFTs are cool if you don't treat them as a speculative market and instead see them as a mechanic to store unique data ownership. MMOs and lobby games with """economies""" should honestly be using them. That way you can trade outside the in-game market too. Also shit is unique and public so you can see what the devs are putting out there, what has been claimed and what hasn't. It's the perfect vehicle for cosmetics whoring and RPchads who want the rarest loot.
It should never EVER have been treated like bitcoin. It should never EVER been introduced as an alternative to the already fucking shifty modern art hustle.
>MMOs and lobby games with """economies""" should honestly be using them. That way you can trade outside the in-game market too.
Any participating game would need to be on-board with using the same blockchain and agreeing to honor its owership claims, in which case... you've already agreed to cooperate so why even bother with the blockshit? Just update whatever shared database the participating games are using.
Marketability. Something to put on the box. Also, it mechanically requires, and therefore enforces, certain requirements be met which can make it more appealing. You can replicate all the features someone may wish to have from a chain in-game but you can flub shit and you can simply not have them at all. A standardised mechanic would enforce said practices.
Hell, if you wished to you could sell multi-series things that can indicate data across multiple databases. Virtual Amiibo effectively. If you're retarded enough to buy Amiibo (and so many evidently are) then NFTs that integrate with games were made for you.
Ultimately you're right, it's just a novelty.
>Marketability. Something to put on the box.
"NFT", "blockchain", "crypto", etc drives gamers away, though. We may be dumb but we're nowhere near dumb enough to be drawn in by that shit.
lol this is literally crypto moron gibberish.
I own neither crypros nor NFTs. Why would I waste my money? I'm not a whale. I just don't see it as inherently evil or whatever. It's just a method of registry. It could be made to work in games.
Databases are as garden gnomey as anything else, brah. Don't know what you're trying to say here.
I mean that's a fair point but that's only as it currently stands. People don't even blink about always online or whether something is backwards compatible - or will receive long term support
>whoops your game has been delisted
No on fucking cares anymore. This too shall pass. I'm not advocating for NFTs but I am saying the outcry seems a touch retarded. If people cared about the state of games they'd be rallying against DRM but instead it's just a fringe group of PC users who give even the slightest fuck.
>your game has been delisted
This pisses me off so much. At least I get to keep the game (for now) but it's so annoying to see a game just... disappear. Live service games reaching end of service isn't great either, but it's something that was obvious once the whole "live service" thing started to extend past MMOs and into games that were never going to sustain themselves for years to come.
As for crypto/NFTs themselves, everything related to it has been a scam. Everybody advocating for them have been scammers, or brainless hypemongers who think their "investment" will "pay off" once the market goes back to a million dollars for an ape drawing. Every game involving NFTs has been a scam, more of a money making scheme than anything to sit down and enjoy. And asking a big game company or big game franchise to embrace that is just awful for everyone.
Of course people are going to object to it. But like lootboxes and microtransactions, we'll see if people actually end up accepting it anyway.
>People don't even blink about always online or whether something is backwards compatible - or will receive long term support
And publishers are careful to avoid bragging about making their games always online or not backwards compatible. They'd want to be quiet about NFTs too. And if they're quiet about it then it's not a marketing point. And if it's not a marketing point then it's a pointless expense vs a conventional database.
So why do it?
NFTs and blockchains require a huge amount of resources to keep active, far more than just server costs. You can't exactly ask every customer computer to run a mining operation to maintain the blockchain, and if you just put it on a centralized server then there's zero point for it to even be a blockchain.
There are uses for a blockchain, it's just that none of them involve video games. Or NFTs. Or any of this crypto crap. The only people interested are people currently stuck with worthless crypto/NFTs (probably Square right now) or people who want a get-rich-quick engine to suddenly start working again.
You're not even selling JPGs. You're selling a bit of data that has a URL leading to a JPG. It's a bit of data that's on a public ledger. A public ledger that literally anybody can read from, at any time. Anybody can just go to the source URL and grab the image just by looking at the blockchain.
It's possible to put a JPG on the blockchain ledger, but it's also still possible for anyone to get the JPG directly because it's all publicly available.
>MMOs and lobby games with """economies""" should honestly be using them.
MMOs use something called a "database". ever heard of that? it does what NFT does but better and it doesnt garden gnome the people either.
You don't need NFTs to do that in a MMO you moron. Unique/Primary Keys are a basic function that is automatically enforced.
Any MMO with a database could ensure and enforce that there's only ever X of a resource in an economy.
Videogames and MMOs, a world where you don't own anything, but are being given a temporary license that can be revoked at any moment for any reason................
and you guys expect a company to give you something that is only yours forever and that works on other markets/IPs?
>That way you can trade outside the in-game market too.
Why would I want that? Isn't that literally inviting RMT into your game? In game market places are fine, having to go through fucking discord groups (because you know that is how that will go down) to trade shit sounds awful.
Honestly, I never understood the buzz around the NFTs, even removed from the apes. Yes, I own something in a blockchain, yes it is secure, but to me as regular enduser it makes 0 difference to a normal database that has an entry stating "x owns this". And can't NFT even be stolen? I sometimes read about some idiot having his ape stolen, so what is even the point if someone can take it away? A normal contract just says "Anon owes this" no matter who holds the paper.
Why do I need the blockchain when Steam Marketplace has done functionally the same thing for decades?
Because Square doesn't get any cut from Steam.
Imagine the cheating when you can drop real cash money from bosses
I think some Dr Disrespect or some other big streamer has been funding the development of an NFT based Escape From Tarkov clone so the cheating scene in that outta be pretty insane
I love how he just doesn't realise how this would get ruined by cheaters instantly
Gaming already has issues with cheats in competetive multiplayer games, now imagine adding monetary gain to the mix
how to get black and hispanic kids killing each other irl for literal video game items
wasn't there a brazilian kid that killed and fucking raped another kid because of some stupid game like gaia or something
I think he killed him over some items, fucking dismembered him, too
>open a locker
>Ultra Omega Super AK with the limited edition radioactive banana paint scheme worth 100k
>grab it and run
>your hands are shaking
>you're sweating so hard you've soaked through all your clothes
>you can see the exit
>it's so close
>you've almost made it
>elation is rising in your chest
>get zapped by an aimbotter through a bangable wall and three layers of foliage six feet from the exit
>hacker now gets to live like a king in his third world country
It's okay, that aimbot was a NFT that I minted and sold to them. So it's all valid gameplay.
>game is actually a meta game about securing victory through exploits and injects without getting booted by server
>arms race to become the most OP and secure the dosh without tripping whatever anti-cheat heuristics exist
>open secret between devs and players
>different maps/servers have better loot but subsequently better systems and more intrusive software to run
Sounds kinda based. I'd watch some hour long long-form on some player getting a big win and explaining hte autism required to do it. It would be like a live and competitive TAS comp.
So an average e-sport career but they hide it even less?
Nah. I doubt e-sportsfags know how to code, though maybe they'd still be neccesary in some ways to have a 'human element' and not get kicked. I'd imagine the real 'competition' would be between cheat manufacturers. Think of it like professional motor sports but with even less need for a driver.
But that's what e-sport already is, of course the players barely know what their cheat actually does beyond aim_at_head, but there's some competition between cheat manufacturers.
That being said, what you're offering would basically be a big HvH game with restriction that you have to be the one who makes the cheat you're using. I doubt there's enough people interested in that sort of thing to make it profitable. Would be kino to watch though.
Just let people cheat openly so long as the in-game heuristic doesn't snipe them. I'm not saying coders have to play, but if you're good enough why bother giving it to e-sports players to profit off. If it 'helps' you win you could get a stable of 'players' in the same way there's a stable of drivers with shared profits/loot. So rather than 'Team Retard' you'd have whomever is making the mods or the mod name and the people playing under him. All the devs need to do is say they only ban players based on their in-game program and don't care about external, and now all the more falsifiable, evidence.
Take the shit happening in the shadows of e-sports into the spotlight and kick the egotistical monkey's that just click when they see the right colours and shapes - or at least minimise them somewhat.
Seeing the weird shit TASfags get up to I could just imagine how broken a game could get if you were all but encouraged to cheat as hard as possible.
Don't get me wrong, I'm with you. I already used to watch some HvH content or how cheats work and it's way more interesting than people give it credit for. I'm just saying there will never be big enough audience for this kind of shit to make it worth. Unless you can get e-sport level prize pools then the people who are dedicated to e-sport teams won't switch. Regular cheat makers would also have to be convinced to swap since there'd have to be playerbase big enough to justify losing all the money from their CS/Overwatch/Apex/whatever cheat subscriptions they're making at the moment. That basically leaves only regular players who have even less of an idea about coding than e-sportfags, so at this point instead of allowing cheats you'd have to make cheating an in-game mechanic.
There's also the fact normalfags are retarded and still deny that cheating is massive in every competetive shooter and especially pro player scenes for those and would cry that this is normalizing cheaters in games.
>there will never be big enough audience for this kind of shit to make it worth
People do it for free, both cheat manufacturers and TASfags. It's not a viable idea but if it were to ever exist it'd be niche as fuck - and that's a good thing.
>"This new thing is so exciting! Just"
>"The skeptics and detractors are fighting against the future!"
Goddamn, every shill for these scams (crypto, NFTs, and AI) all talk the *exact* same way. They give the same vague scenarios and use the same "you're fighting against the future if you're against this" defensiveness. These people are too lazy to be productive and they're too lazy to change their marketing scripts.
Don't forget the chinkbotting. It's already bad enough in games where RMT is banned, imagine how worse it'll be in games where RMT is the entire fucking point.
Imagine a job with no contract, leave days, sick days, healthcare coverage, union, with a bar of entry so low that billions of people can do it and you compete against everyone, including those who can cheat.
its depressing to know that my xiv sub money goes to this
just let some other company buy FF and yoshida's team please
what value does FF have? in what way is it not exhausted/used up
tired of seeing this zombie of a company shamble around using a name that became meaningless 20 years ago, dont get why young people are so attached to FF when it was never meaningful in their time

Reminder that the report dates from a month before Luminous was closed and Matsuda fired.
That said, the new CEO doesn't seem a hair better, unless he's just been yes-manning Matsuda for the past 3 years and will radically change course when actually taking charge in May.
If not, once symbiogenesis is a massive dud we can see another CEO change next year.
NFTs just remind me of stuff like Neopets.
NFTs remind me of those Korean MMO webtoons where in-game items can somehow be sold for real money and the protagonist becomes super rich by poopsocking in a video game
thats been done in diablo3. you dont need NFTs for that.
its really gay.

The best part that shows how worthless and purely speculative NFTs are is how it's not even image, it's not even link - it's POINTER to link. If somebody delete said link, all these idiots are trying to sell is pointer to nothing.
Also, look how after cryptoshit failed and NFTs are pretty much dead, some groups try to convince everyone that AI is next big thing and you absolutely need to buy GPUs en masses to provide it with proper computional power. In the end, it's all about fucking up normal customers in the ass with artificial scarcity.
>The best part that shows how worthless and purely speculative NFTs are is how it's not even image, it's not even link - it's POINTER to link. If somebody delete said link, all these idiots are trying to sell is pointer to nothing.
you showed that you have zero understanding of this whatsoever...it's already been explained in the thread for people like you that the point of blockchain technologies is that you can't delete it
And do you? Blockchain don't contain links or images themselves - they are too big for that. All it contains are pointers.
Blockchain technology is biggest scam ever and nothing will change that.
your problem is with the entities employing the technology not the technology
you don't disavow banks because they could magically disappear your account

Nft is just a proof of ownership on an immutable digital ledger, it was hijacked by retarded greedy Americans and turned into garbage.
I'm waiting until Matsuda is actually out and the new CEO takes charge before making any calls.
Is there any real practical use in turning digital data into something "non-fungible"?
Maybe for security or something it should make some sense, but why make a digital "product" non-fungible? If something is easily replicable, isn't it better to leave it that way? Imagine someone discovers the secret of Jesus to make food non-fungible for example, why would anyone want to do the opposite process instead of taking advantage of the infinite replication of something?
Basically it's so that digital data can be treated the same way as real world objects, that NFT can be proven to have ownership through the blockchain.
That being said, NFTs are not what people think it is, the blockchain is too small to store images so all it really has is a link to the image, so people don't own an image that's associated with the NFT, only the NFT itself which is just a line of URL stored in the blockchain.
Honestly this is just moving in the wrong direction. Digital ownership shouldn't be a thing at all. Just copy shit
I have yet seen a reason why NFTs are inherently better than something like CS:GO skins other than DA BLOCKCHIAN!!!1!
>imagine getting paid for just reading
the absolute state of youtubers
Since when are we listening to George Floyd worshipping, cow marrying cucks like NintendoWave?
No they aren't. Its a hustle.
See the japanese gubment is trying to bruteforce metashit hard. Part of this is offering tax break and kickback incentives to any companies pledging to contribute to this.
So naturally Square keeps going "mhmm, yep, nfts, metaverse, we are jumping in real soon" and has been doing this for 2 years.
Why do you think they suddenly have so many AA games coming out at once?
Because they are promising nfts they dont have to deliver on and getting massive kicbacks for flops just for promising.
The moment leadership changes in japan and the metaverse shit is dropped watch them never mention it again. Its just square enix being square enix.
The nft is just an excuse to get tax breaks because the japanese government is funding it. I always believed how weird it was that Matsuda is talking about nfts for more than 2 years and no one saw a real project around it.
He will just release a 10 dollar scam mobile game and call it a day
Its the same reason Uwe Boll made all those dogshit films in bumfuck nowhere germany and in the 2000's all hollywood productions were filmed in ontario. Grifters gonna grift.
I think the fact they have self awareness to not make a nft FF game and are just using this to get advantage is better. The only thing i truly dont understand is why Matsuda felt compelled to shill nfts in every public letter he made. Why
do they still believe amerimutt morons meme. they are dumb as hell.
>meanwhile their best-looking game in 20 years is going to fail because of platform exclusivity.
At least we'll get one more good game out of them before they crash it seems.
"Hmm, should I go onto the website itself to get a screen cap to better illustrate what my post is about?" Anon asked himself, stroking his third chin, his fingers greasy from his 32nd hot pocket today. He then shook his head as he paused the Youtube video of a Basedjak in real life spoon feeding his beyond rotten brain the information as he is incapable of reading it himself. "Nah, this is good enough." He says as he screen caps the entire screen and rushes over to Ganker to tell the others the big news.
Shit will bomb harder than Balan and forspoken. Just start selling porn of your characters if you want money.
I think it's some Sony buy Square and fire all the retards in the company.
Man you sure want Sony buying SE so much lol
The recent situation is funny
Sonyfags afraid of the whole acquisition thing so they want Sony buying SE
Tendies also scared so they larp possibilities like Nintendo getting the rights of specific IPs
Yea. SIE cant afford anyone else getting them. SIE also needs some more Japanese developers. They have enough Western ones. After they buy SE and maybe 1 or 2 more they need to start making new Japanese studios and invest in new IPs.
Sony literally doesnt have enough money to buy them, even more in a scenario where SE is getting bigger with profits since 2014. There is also no reason for SE to sell itself to Sony right now. They make business deals with all the companies, like exclusive Team Asano games with Nintendo.
And SE literally said last year they arent selling the company, at most shares of some IPs, which i would bet on shit like Just Cause.
You might think SE is in a bad position but if you put in perspective how they are doing, they are at their best moment since the early 2000s
Sony Group definitely has the money to buy them. They've got like 1 trillion yen. Sony might buy stakes into the various studios before that tho.
>There is also no reason for SE to sell itself to Sony right now
Maybe not right now. But if Sony offers a a price it would probably happen. Especially if the new CEO ends up doing dumb shit that costs SE loads.
I said a lot of things and your only argument was "i still think they can do it"
So seems more like your wishful thinking. Whatever tho.
I know they can. Sony Group can buy SE if they want. Money ain't an issue here. It's if SE is willing.
I said 2 replies ago how they dont want it and said that in official reports. Bro...
LET ME HAVE MY HOPIUMMMM AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Jim Ryan also doest care about japanese games, there is a reason why the only thing Sony is promoting are games like FF, because they have global appeal and break the niche jrpg demographic.
They will never promote games like Live a Live
I really wonder how the share of SE games will go when the Switch 2 is a new console and not a toaster.
I can see the only SE games being focused on PS being the big ones like FF and KH, because they push graphics
>Enables your company
Squeenix keeps talking about NFT shit but its been years and they still haven't released anything related to it
Konami went all in and it didn't take them long to shit out some castlevania NFTs or whatever the fuck that was
Really seems like its just some retarded talking point for shareholders
relational databases made NFTs obsolete in games 40 years ago
What did OP mean by this?
