They made 6 of those bloody games? jesus....
Hold your horses, this might be the last Star Ocean game. Its one of those series that you either Love or Hate. I love the mediocrity of it, its cringekino
Can't wait for the last of Squeenix woke trash before they go broke.
That will never happen, tendie
and a gacha
Pretty sad that the gacha died, it was pretty great gameplay wise
This is actually game 8-9 if you count the remakes and bluespheres
More.
the first two are the only ones with soul
Look man there's like 4 sci-fi rpgs that have aliens and even if 99% of the franchise takes place on primitive worlds i need to take what i can get
imagine Ella Freya as Elena
people still play this dogshit franchise
come to think of it how is it still around
I saw some gameplay.
It just looks like worse Tales of Arise, or even SAO Lycoris
>worse than SAO licowhatever.
Lol. Lmao even. You almost had me you sneaky butthole.
>It just looks like worse Tales of Arise
You clearly don't know what you're talking about.
SAO Lycoris is not only the worst sao game it's one of the worst games ever made. The devs are so fricking incredibly incompetent to fix performance issues they made the render distance literally 10 feet whenever you draw your weapon kek.
>square-enix
>fixing anything
is there a seraphic gate?
is "Divine Force" a euphemism for rape?
should I play in english or jap?
>anime game made in japan by japanese devs
I wonder
Jap voices AND jap text
English.
I honestly like zipping around the town's roofs collecting skillpoints more than talking to npcs
>Hi there person I have literally never met
>Let me tell you about the local bakery

Do you think there will ever be mods to make the 3d models look like the 2d art?
These characters are fricking GOBLINS
i mean look at this thing
I thought you would be able to self insert much better now that we play as an ugly bastard?
I'm ugly but I'm not THAT ugly
That's just the artsyle they have been using since the early days.
Neither looks like an even more mongoloid-looking version of Haaland.
His wiener is 58m long???
Why are the graphics so ugly? Is this a full price game?
It looks good though. The graphics are SOVL.
Pound for pound, triAce has got the best artistic texturing of every dev alive today.
They know how to put together the scenery.
I wonder how good would a game of theirs look with a FF budget.
I would've let them handle the Silent Hill 2 remake, at least visually, they get it
Square Enix hired Tri-Ace to fix Crystal Tools so that they could shit out FFXIII-2 and 3. Tri-Ace is arguably one of the most capable Japanese devs in the market on the other side of the big ocean. But they're sadly never given enough of a budget or time to really shine. In their early SO4 dev blogs, they managed to get tessellation and PBR working on a the friggin' 360, a whole generation before that tech actually came to market. Its pretty nuts.
Are the giant bunny's just fan service or do they serve a purpose in the end?
It looks almost as good as FFXVI, and it's from 2011.
>Now On AFM, 11 years ago
>Wow. Looks absolutely incredible, much better than I expected. Lots of attention to detail. You finally got the character faces right, Tri-Ace. Loved the graphics of your games this generation, but the only thing which looked mediocre are the plastic and inexpressive faces of the character models.
>You finally got the character faces right, Tri-Ace
lmao. lol, even.
If only he could know how bad things really are.
They did actually make a game that wasn't full kawaiiuguu~ but for whatever reason they chose never to do that again.
what game is that picture from?
Resonance of Fate, easy fun if your feeling like a jrpg but are sick of 4 homies inna row combat
>easy
Thank you for not being stupid, but there's actually a fairly large number of people who find that game to be quite difficult, so you might want a caveat like:
Easy if you can successfully apply reductivism to the game's systems to identify what parts you actually need because it just drops you right into everything.
Given
I'll concede that tri-ace aren't complete trash, but they still can't model faces or humans in general. Also, budget is not the end all be all of what makes a game good. A good piece of media, be it game or movie or whatever, is good because it makes GOOD USE of what it has to work with. There are games made with far smaller budgets than what tri-ace gets to work with that have been instant classics and there are games with MUCH higher budgets (like FFXV) that ended up being shit. Budget can certainly help, but you have to know what to do with the budget. Tri-Ace has never had a big budget and they STILL haven't learned how to work within their means. Instead of spending their resources trying to keep up with the graphical arms race (which they are clearly unable to pull off given SO6, it doesn't look bad but it also doesn't look particularly great either, graphically) they should keep the graphics looking last gen at the most but focus on refining their modelling and animation skills and fricking reduce the scope of their games. But no, they try their best to keep up with absolute AAA games despite never having AAA budgets, and their games always come up short. Instead they should focus on making good low-mid budget games with pared back goals. Underpromise and over-deliver, instead of overpromise and under-deliver like they usually do.
Hmm, the art style looks kinda comfy. Is this game any good? I'm kinda in the mood for a slow burn JRPG soon.
Pretty good combat and pretty good world exploration. The only downside so far is the dialogue is weird, especially the princess because she sounds a bit like a virtual assistant or phone tree voice come to life. I keep expecting to hear “For English press 1” coming out of her.
the one good thing about star ocean is that all the games usually have actual good rpg mechanics that they usually dont water down for normies. Im a few hours in and am enjoying it quit a bit but i love anime cheese games like this
why is Laeticia so covered up, unattractive, and devoid of any personality?
meanwhile the rest of the females are cute/sexy
feels like it was deliberate bad design aka stronk female protagonist mandate
How long until the discount, bros.
She’s a Princess mate, they can't go around showing a lot of skin
3 years give or take
She should have an outfit like the protagonist from Code of Princess
Probably because Marielle was originally going to be the second protagonist.
>trusting a Kenny
Did something come out of that?
https://noisypixel.net/star-ocean-the-divine-force-party-member-marielle-protagonist/
She's the one they present on the official front of the game so of course she's covered up. Can't let the ESG crowd feel threatened by feminine skinship.
I saw people complaining about regular attacks using AP, and while that is reasonable, you get a shitton of AP where it almost becomes a non-issue. Im in the opening hours still as Ray and my AP count went up from like 5 to 10, and with the combos you can do thats more than enough
Any romance? If not how are the character interaction at least art they at least fun?
I read there is a lot of endings so I wonder if there is a SO2 styled paired endings deal
Hard to say, but both Ray and Laeticia have paired endings with pretty much every party member and each other, and they're referred to Ray/Laeticia and X thereafter, so I don't think they're SO4 ending expansion kind of things and more of paired endings.
>every party matter
MF FM or homosexualry endings too?
homosexualry ends as well, but one thing is that both Raymond and Laeticia have one unique character endings that the other cannot get. Raymond has an ending with Robo-samurai while Laeticia has an ending with red haired guy.
AHHHH
do I go with big tiddy OG GF
or
blue big tiddy woman
10 hours into the game so far and my only problem is the combat feels boring and complete already
you have your skills and combos setup, rest in the skill tree looks shit
it's pretty obvious at this point the skill tree is going to expand since at level 30+ half the skill tree is already filled out but it's kind of disappointing so far
Trees are small because you have to burn SP on upgrading the skills you actually use after you set up your strings.
I hope the trees get bigger, because frick me if not, some of the attack skills are utter dogshit. Magic seems really weak too.
>you have to compile shaders in game after compiling shaders before the game starts
ok
the shader compilation exists just to shave off refund time
>Yo dawg, we herd you like compiling shaders, so we compiled shaders while you were already compiling shaders
>elena unlocks fist of fury in one of her skill trees
Oh yeah, its all coming together now.
Elena has a thigh gap.
Oh right this exists
Why dont they try advertising games anymore
Square has pumped out way too much mid-budget stuff in the past few months to bother with advertising.
It's a title they got from the enix merger so they literally don't give a shit about it.
>This game isn't too bad, Universe seems to be pretty fair difficulty wise
>Get to the bird at the top of Mt. Cotto
Alright game, you got me good. What the frick was that boss fight?
bosses seem pretty weird difficulty wise and it continues throughout the game
the last part is obnoxious as frick
The first boss was easy, the second was obnoxious, the third is mash Peerless Guillotine and this bird boss is designed specifically to frick with the AI. Doesn't help that Blindsiding is inconsistent as all get out when it comes to recognizing the prompt.
Change the target to its tail to knock it down and whale on it forever.
The boss was still complete aids.
I want to have sex with Elena
Elena is cute but I want seggs with Welch instead because she's noisy, tomboyish, eccentric, but intelligent, useful and kind
I like her design she doesn't become a party member does she?
She's the dedicated crafting companion.
Always there for you, but not a battle member.
Welch has only been playable in like 3 games and 2 of them she wasn't originally playable.
stunning and brave
They managed to make the sexiest JRPG party member in recent memory
>Literally a android
Raymond has good tastes.
What does "android" mean, Android 18 or 16?
the definition of android is robot made to imitate humans, how human depends on the creator
she mine
>raymundo, midas, nina, albaird
Elena stays benched forever.
https://twinfinite.net/2022/10/can-you-change-character-appearance-in-star-ocean-the-divine-force-answered/
>no outfit changes
literally why
also no new game+
SO doesn't do NG+.Only higher difficulty unlocks. What's missing are battle trophies.
i swear i carried stuff over in so3 ps2
there were lots of outfits too
SO3 has a separate save file for the Battle Collection. Each character has 3 alternate outfits that get unlocked at certain percentages of battle collection completion, it was the only game to have alternate outfits.
SO doesn't do NG+ ever.
:^)
I haven't had chance to play it yet, is it good?
This is a 10/10 masterpiece scene, according to Star Ocean fans.
It's 10/10 because of its its so bad its good value. Not because its actually good.
doesn't compare to dinner
I fricking hate this art style man. I liked the scene though. Especially the part where she hits his hand.
Don't diss nappy time
>that ineffectual slap
>taking the stairs one stair at a time
I genuinely chuckled out loud. That lifeless doll-face is awkward as frick though, how the hell do they STILL not know how to make 3d models? SO6 makes the same exact mistakes, the only characters that don't look like they were modeled by malaysian child labor are Chloe and Malkya. Malkya especially looks super well done, it's clear they gave her to their top 3d modeler due to the complexity of her design, where as the bottom of the pack got ray because he's such a basic and "easy" design but they couldn't even handle that.
I'm sure its an artistic decision to use this "style".
It's a stylistic choice. Compare Ray's face to any of the Aster 4 people. They give slightly different features to people from different worlds, even they're overall 'human'.
Ray's got more 'earth human' size eyes compared to, say Albaird or any of the girls.
In all languages she was annoying
japanese comedy
You are not ready to appreciate SO4.
Why did he do it, bros?
dicky sex pussy frick
>PSO2 if it was animated by puppets
It's really disappointing that SO4 didn't stick with the comfy space adventure it had for the first 6 hours of the game. The moment you go to Alternate Earth and blow it up the game spirals out of control and ends up being one of the worst RPGs I've played.
Is it just me or is Elena the hardest character to use out of the initial 6?
The world is fun to explore, combat feels satisfying, the characters are more interesting than 4 and 5. It's the best Star Ocean game since 3.
>The world is fun to explore
I mostly mean movement through the open world is more fun than normal because of DUMA. It's fun to go around and hunt items. I do agree some of the boundaries are lame.
Yeah DUMA is really great to use. Both in the overworld and battle.
That's actually a cave where the enemies scale up in difficulty each time you clear it. Finishing the fight gives a bunch of duma crystals. It's also full of acid water. They wont let you in until you get Elena
It's just one of any number of examples of locations you aren't allowed to visit until story progress permits it, which is cancerous.
Then let me make the mistake of going in there and get fricking raped instead of this homosexualry
Pathetic.
Anal pregnancy.
Nice tummy
Does choosing prioritize framerate do anything? I cant fricking tell at 4k
There's secret recipes you get from side quests. Might be easy to get the failure items for other quests by spamming them before getting the item
Call me when it's cracked.
game keeps fricking crashing every 30m
happens when I load into new areas, happens when I go into the menu, it's fricking chaos
I run it at 60fps no probs so I don't think it's a hardware issue, it just keeps fricking crashing
How do I get that big duma crystal way up in the sky in the larcasse area? I've tried zooming from all the nearby high ground and rocks I can think of
I don't know but can I make that girl my wife?
_no
Dropped
I played the demo on PS4 a few weeks ago and the performance was terrible. Anyone know what the framerate is like on PC with a Nvidia 1080?
>Anyone know what the framerate is like on PC with a Nvidia 1080?
Mostly consistent 60fps at 1080p max settings with infrequent random drops. On my intuition I will blame those on Denuvo.
Dunno about a 1080, but I'm on a 2080 and it's smooth sailing.
PC performance is all over the place. Some people are having perfect 60FPS with stuff that barely meets the recommended specs, while a lot of others are getting shit frames and stuttering with i9s and 3080s no matter the settings, the primary cause for the current mixed score on steam.
My 3700x and 1660 holds a perfect framerate at medium-high 1080p settings with little to no framerate dips.
Probably DRM being an issue on the CPU end if the game runs on toasters but fricks up on higher end versions of stuff from the same manufacturer.
My 1070 works just fine except it hiccups for about a half-second whenever combat begins. That's all.
How do you think people are gonna answer you if you don't say what resolution you're playing at?
When the AI's controlling party members, will they use skills that I don't have set in the attack chain?
How
I know how.
Do we eventually leave the planet?
I keep forgetting to go back to old towns for PAs.
I like the game so far but why is it so blurry? Installing HDR and Lumasharpen are absolute necessities to look decent at 4K. I imagine they must be using a very strong aa filter to make it look so damn smudgy. And there needs to be an option or mod to disable DOF and motion blur.
any visual character customization in this?
See
But
thanks.
Whats the end game look like?
people on steam say it runs like garbage.
also denuvo.
frick this man, i just want to play a good action JRPG
It's becoming fun, but the tech issues are grating. Stutters when going into the menu, random slowdowns when traversing, the HUD still showing KB controls while I'm using a controller.
then go play NTWEWY
i already did and i loved it
>forced to wear the covid mask
This game is gay.
Are there any compilation images of the translation? I saw someone calling it unfaithful and I'm curious of examples.
Japanese Dub: Sumanai, Elena...
English Sub: Some captain I am.
That's just an hour into the game too.
That more like the case of dub subtitles only, but then you are right as well
what's wrong with that
It's your average Square Enix localisation which means almost every line of dialogue is rewritten to some degree. You don't get memes thrown around like in other companies' products, but you do get constant minor discrepancies. There are some standout irritants though like
where Raymond's apology to Elena is changed into him being self-pitying instead. Similarly, when Chloe asks Ray if Elena is alright at the start of the game, and Ray doesn't know what's happened to her but can assume she died, in Japanese he says "I'm sure she's alright", whereas in English they just made it "Elena is alright", which is a minor change but significant warping of what the meaning was there.
I should probably make more note of these things so I can provide more examples.
Oh yeah, another example early on was when Laeticia and whatshisname wanted Raymond to hang around and explain things to them and Raymond is refusing because he wants to check out the other life pod, in Japanese he said something like "my friends lives are at stake here" whereas in English they changed it to him just saying "sorry buddy, no can do". Totally warps the characterisation when they're making changes like that, like they want Ray to be a hardass in the English version or something.
Damn, raymond
There are a lot of stuff they say in the game that's slightly different to the translation which would normally be okay but the intention behind the words is completely different so its extremely bad
How is the music? Are there time gate shenanigans? 4D space?
It's fine. I've only been in five or so areas. The music in the starting ruins need to chill out though.
>How is the music?
Completely forgettable.
what a shame
I don't feel like SOs are much noted for their music. Don't get me wrong, each game has like 4 excellent tracks, but then the rest are utterly forgettable fillter
Is it at least this good?
I'm loving it so far.
I can't see frick all when fights happen.
just keep hacking and whacking
I rushed Chino's Supernova. She's a kawaii murderhobo now. I'm going for Ray's Abyssal Gate next but I'm digging my PAWNCH -> Outrage -> Boulder Crush combo. I might put it into the hold one.
>I'm going for Ray's Abyssal Gate
DIMENSION.......
DOOR!
Abyssal Gate is fun. I'm running that into the one that knocks them up and kicks the frick out of them, followed by totally not Demon Fang as my bread and butter. If you've got the AP, you can segue into your other chains or hold options, so you can setup some crazy chains. My second chain is Outrage, the one straight up from the start that acts like a quick recovery, then another Outrage. You can dodge roll out of Outrage at any point, so it's an easy, safe combo and it also links well into my first chain. I've also got Gate setup as the hold button for that one so I can supercharge a Gate if I'm surrounded. Haven't quite nailed down what my third chain should be, but I'm leaning towards the slash and kick into Gate into the curb stomp kick that deals extra damage if they're down. As long as Gate doesn't pop them off the ground and teleports far enough, it should all go together.
For the anon that was asking if the AI will only use whatever chains you have setup, the answer is yes. You can also throw items into their hold chains and they'll use them at the appropriate times.
Is it ever economical to have a recovery item in the chain? Although, I am maxing out Albaird's israeliteman skill.
Put recovery items on your charge prompts. The AI won't use them unless you have them set and relying solely on Nina's AoE heals is a bad idea on Universe because of how dumb the AI can be.
how does item targeting work
Ringer/Ripper/Payback are great choices for starting almost every combo.
Buster only chains into Wave or Gate.
Gate is probably at its best as either a combo ender (if Buster works) or a starter due the animation time.
Outrage and Crush pair well with most skills although I personally like just putting them together as a generic high damage string.
IIRC it's self first, allies second.
>90% of my SO6 gameplay so far
so SO 6 is a better Sonic game than Sonic Frontiers?
>6 games
at least one game has to be good right?which one should I play?
None of them, piss off.
Both versions of 1
PS1 version of 2
3 is debatable
There are 3 versions of 1.
I should have excluded the PSP version and specified the SNES version and R
3 is the best and only a true brainlet might think otherwise.
3 is only fun in the last 80% of the game and the post game.
>in the last 80% of the game
sorry, I'm operating on little sleep, I meant the last 20%
The postgame is THICC though.
>fist of fury
i knew she was best girl from the start
Es'owa is so fun, lol
It took me 3 attempts / loses to realise how to play. Then I put those 4 DLC (because I have digital deluxe) figures into deck, and when I saw how OP they are I decided not to use them. In fact, now I want this mini game as a separate title.
They need to fix this shit as well.
Yeah, they needed an editor to proofread a lot of lines by her..
I'm so glad albaird got aids
Star Ocean thread
>not walking
how bad is this game really? anything in its favor beyond breasts and ass
NTA
One planet, 5 towns, 3 dungeons, and you constantly travel between them for no reason.
I honestly do not recommend it.
There isn't a single good thing about it other than the character designs.
It's bad, Tri-ace wasn't given time or budget, and what they put out barely feels like an Alpha version. The first few hours of SO6 have more proper cutscenes than SO5 did in its entire run time.
You get to use your entire 8 man party in combat at the same time. It's a clusterfrick, but if you enjoy that it's one of the very few games that does that kind of mayhem.
More like 6 + 1 NPC get out of jail free card.
You get to use her as a normal character.
No you don't. She doesn't have skills, equipment, roles and you cannot control her directly.
I beat it last week. It's fine if you speed through it. I went for a 100% playthrough and the sidequest backtracking, PA completion and such is a huge chore. OK if you like a AA jrpg grind. I like the way the game looks, characters included. Any other game in the series is better, however.
It's better than 4 at least
what? no, hell no it isn't
I would say you should still play it if you're a big Star Ocean fan. It has glaring flaws but there's at least some things to get out of it. It's definitely the weakest in the series.
Cons:
Characters are mostly lame. Diamond bawd in your webm is the only redeeming character design.
Too many characters in combat at once. Everything feels like a clusterfrick all the time
Story is boring
Dialogue sucks.
World is uninteresting.
Pros:
Crafting is solid and has a lot to get out of it but you don't really need to do it until the end of the game and the post-game dungeon.
Some of the combat skills are satisfying
Graphics are nice and the world is pretty, even though it's boring
>witch voiced by Endo Aya, who voiced Sheryl
>her best friend voiced by the guy who played Alto in Macross Frontier
>they're companions and they have past history
Its either coincidence or Tri-Ace are Macross gays.
>the ass that resurrected SO after 3
does the combat get better later or does it stay meh?
also, if this is denuvo, will there be a chance for outfit mods?
Is it just me or the texture often looks blurry?
Does anyone have good combos for Elena?
OH NO NO NO NO HAHAHAHAHA
they're all "reviews" by people like you though. BRs and Turd Worlders saying "NO WORK ON MI LAPTOP FROM 2003 WTF"
PC gaming becoming popular has its downsides.
Refunded. SO is my favorite jrpg series but this is just fricking shit.
>Compiling shaders for half an hour before getting in-game. Uh okay.
>Compiling shaders for another half an hour at the main menu???
>Looks like shit
>Plays like shit
>Written like shit
Reminds me of some kind of jap unity engine solo project.
>second time a character mentions "route looks different on the way back"
Is this some kind of foreshadowing for plot, or a hamfisted excuse backtracking
I like the PAs so far.
So far they're fricking boring. Is there a single PA that isn't "character stands around and talks to your player character with sometimes a dialogue option"?
yeah
Have you played Star Ocean?
Yeah. It wasn't very good. The remake was alright though.
>demo progress doesn't transfer
what fricking year is it? we've been able to do this forever step it up tri ace
Star Goycean
SHUT THE FRICK UP
whats up with the town stutter?
outside the game runs fine, but holy shit even in the inn its stutter city
>stutter city
>not stutter island
what are you playing on?
>normal too easy
>hard mode my party gets wiped in the first 10s leaving me alone
what the frick
Hard Mode expects you to know how to use DUMA properly. Also, maybe its just me but I think Elena is pretty bad on Hard, her wonky hitboxes make it easy for enemies to gang up and murder her.
I started that way and now Laeticia just charges and murders everything with spin2win. Getting auto heal ASAP will weather you through, although I wish it had Xenoblade's expert mode so you can level yourself down.
Why is a star ocean thread of all things good? If it wasn't for threads like these, I would have stop coming to Ganker.
game release threads are always a good time, as long as they're not some overly popular shit
game release threads are usually full of people who actually play vidya. Really popular shit can get shiposted, but even when Elden came out we still had 'comfy' threads which was the code word for game discussion where people ignored all the bait and it was 80% game talk.
A game not being exposed to a lot of people is sometimes a good thing. NEO TWEWY threads were like that on its first couple of weeks until it got circle-jerky enough to frick off. Its usually high profile titles that get insufferable. I guess the expectations for Star Ocean are pretty low.
trials threads were great too
niche threads are always good bc shitposters know they wont get a gorillion replies with the usual bait
Tendies still are not invading it since they only want xenoblade and fire emblem threads here
t. Twewygay
We had a good Star Wars thread as well.
Ganker can be good sometimes when...
Oh look, console warrior. In reality, South American favela monkeys are ruining the board.
don't worry
the troony jannies will be by to ruin it because it's not smash bros or porn
>go to mines
>sigh because every fricking JRPG has a mine that gets attacked with monsters
>expect a Star Ocean 2 or breasts tier bland tunnel layout
>it's actually pretty visually interesting
The mines were my favorite early game location. They look surprisingly nice.
So what is Welch's master plan for the Eternal Sphere?
Is any Welch other than 1/2 remake Welch even a 4D player? In 4-6 she doesn't show any hint of knowing more than she should have. I guess 3's could be.
Its implied that Welch is the same person in every game and she casually breaks the 4th wall or makes a bunch of references to other games all the time.
I think she's just bored and likes crafting a lot.
I don't remember her making references at all except in the 1/2 remakes. And even then, it wasn't references, it was just her implying that she knew what was going to happen in each respective game. I'm fresh off a replay of all of them too.
Make NPCs super powerful and troll the devs
How the frick do I beat these canon things outside Eda village. They just stunlock everyone to death. I'm trying to blindside but it never gets all of them and the ones that don't get stunned just machine gun me down
Managed to win by finding a large boulder on the left side of the map that I could hide behind. Would peek out to bait a perfect dodge and get VA charge and then blindside attack. Rinse and repeat. Frick those guys didn't even feel bad cheesing
I want to FRICK Nina
>defeated by mother worm
>no big deal, can just retry
>no ap during second encounter so can't even do my combos now
wth
transfer characters carry over AP. Since you can't blindside that homie use one of the other two to build up. Too bad you don't have Nina for that fight because then you could just use buffs to build it
Terrible game and character. No wonder it flopped
frick off pleb
>Using DUMA
Which difficulty level do you guys play?
On normal now and blindsiding enemies end the combat in a blink.
Galaxy is too easy as it is.
Also, what the frick:
>want to go back to play the minigame with people I missed
>"If you fast travel, scenes will be skipped"
>walk there instead
>nothing happens at all
what the frick
I suspect that the fast travel warning is mistranslated and it's supposed to say that you might skip scenes. Actually, I'll check that next time I play.
on Gamefaqs they say you can't skip PAs with them. It appears to just be banter.
Yeah they fricked up, it's a mistranslation. The Japanese specifies that what you might miss is conversations between party members on the way like talking about Albaird needing a break.
stupid fricking troonylators fricked this up yet again because they were too stupid looking for pronouns.
I'm learning japanese. I've had enough.
there's some voiced banter that you could potentially skip
potentially
This targeting system seriously makes no sense.
Universe has been a breeze so far aside from the second boss which was a mess.
god yeah, i wish the targeting was somewhat competent too anon
It feels like I'm playing SO4 on 360 again.
Why the frick can't they get the targeting right, holy shit, it's an obvious issue since the first hour.
>"If you fast travel, scenes will be skipped"
it's a general warning
People were saying the difficulties were locked until beating the game and that game reviews said the game was too easy. What gives?
I got the name wrong, I am on Universe. My bad.
Hard, aka Universe
Man I'm having way more fun than I thought I would
my potato PC can run this at 60FPS even though it turns into a PS2 game. I'm pretty impressed honestly.
Incomprehensible.
Locking on breaks targeting, it doesn't unlock and switch when the target dies
Why is the font too fricking small? Can you change the font's size?
They cloned the terrible potato faces and terribad shit from Xenoblade X, might as well clone the small font issue as well to stay faithful to the overall bad experience.
how many planets are in this game? do you get to use your own ship to travel between them?
I thought that was a Final Fantasy game in the thumbnail. Why can't weebs come up with different art styles
Why are you faceblind?
Not a single Final Fantasy looks like this. Star Ocean has more of an early ps2/Xenosaga style to it, and it's a very low budget franchise.
How does the ninja cyborg samurai guy play like? Any webms?
>character leaves party for 5 minutes
>game unequips all their accessories and doesn't automatically equip them afterwards
how do you get these duma points? does the flight distance extend later on or is there a specific point i need to launch from?
Lmao you can actually skip the vatting cutscene by mashing R2. I did it twice for the bird boss and didn't see any of it. I was baffled thinking that vatting just teleported me in front of the boss just like duma.
>vatting
You unlock it later
what does this game's Welch look like
I want her to finger me with that wand
I hope that in one of the remaining episodes of the second season of Poputepipikku they make a stupid Star Ocean joke about Welch and her hand wand
Aaaaand the game just crashed mid battle.
Refunded it after 80 minutes. Mediocre all around, will only buy again heavily discounted. Also, the HDR is fricking garbage. You need reshade with the levels shader with white levels set to 200, or it's too dim to see anything at all.
so you only played for roughly 20 minutes since you had to load shaders for 30m before the game launched then load shaders fo 30m after it launched?
No, that took 15 minutes and only once.
>Raymond just says he's from off planet and stuff
Did they not have rules in place to prevent lower tech planets from finding out about higher tech level stuff?
He makes a comment blowing those rules off. "What the federation doesn't know won't hurt them" or something like that.
right I completely forgot about that. I think I was just too distracted earlier
Ray isn't a feddie, he doesn't give a frick about the UP3.
What are the backwater homies gonna snitch, whos gonna know what he told them. Those backwater savages should be thankful a good aryan spacenoid is willing to help them with their asinine planet shit.
I like the incipit of an high tech group of humans crash landing on a relative primitive planet and interacting with the humans there. Based only on this and the fact I never played a Star Ocean game, would you recommend this game to me?
I also like those breasts of course.
You would love the first game then
Yeah, characters are literally talking about how to use antibiotic and asking if the android needs first aid.
>Awkward movements
>Overreactions
>Cringe humor
Yep, It's a star ocean game alright. I missed this shit.
I was concerned until I got to Nina. Her exaggerated animations are the kind of jank I expect from the series.
what the frick is up with the targeting
The VA gauge becomes a joke if you max out strike gain. Highly recommend.
why not dodge gain?
You can't dodge an attack if the enemy is blindsided all the time.
Best Welch?
SO3, when she was dirty blonde instead of bright blonde
Anamnesis welch is my favorite by a longshot as she's the only one who doesn't suck fricking dick in gameplay and is canon.
>using the shitty psp so2 art
pls stop
Welch isn't in the original SO or SO2.
I'm almost sure they redid it for first R. You are not wrong however.
moron
Wont chance the fact that the second evolution has bad character art
ok esl
>sweater puppies Welch
God damn.
The one that invented herself some breasts
I miss Anamnesis. The gameplay was great for a gacha and the alts mostly looked good.
what game
IQ-4
Why is there boobs physic on mobile game but not the main flagship game?
that mobile game also had top tier models shame it didnt last long literally the only mobile gatcha ive ever played
the mobage was literally coom bait to get quick cash and it's not on snoy platform
>quick cash
not that you're wrong, but wasn't it confirmed that the gacha made more money than the entirety of all of the console games combined? or something insane like that?
idk how i missed this
could be because it's not there initially. Her room "upgrades" as you progress through the game and complete her quests.
>play SO6 and Bayo 3
>both games have terrible targeting
>11 hours in
>Only just realised that I have to equip the passive skills after getting them in the skill tree
How did you not notice the passive skills menu?
for me, it's big meaty boot
Did one of your party just commit suicide and jumped to the abyss?
why the space israelite kill himself twice!?
The enemy wasn't dead.. Went to finish the job.
>goes personally to kill an enemy falling
Ngl that's baddass
Perhaps he's wondering why you would attack a man after kicking him off a cliff.
It's a lot of loyalty for a hired gun.
>having to compile shaders
Uh bros, your FOSS operating system?
alien flying fish
I wish the Es'owa AI wasn't so fricking braindead. I'm up to master 3 and I still haven't come close to losing a match. And I haven't used the pre-order figures either.
I guess letting the player go first is just too much of an advantage given how it works, you can't lose unless you seriously frick up at some point.
Someone probably stubbed their toe on it, Ray.
Nina seems like the high IQ party member so far.
6 hours in, having lots of fun. It's sad people can't enjoy a nice game.
???
Everyone ITT that is actually playing it is enjoying it, though? Doesn't make the game not have a shit translation and potato faces, though. They're just not dealbreakers for me.
>???
>uhmmm question?
have a nice day troony
>buzzwordsalad complete with troony obsession
go back newbie
I'm having a blast with it but I also loved Soul Hackers 2 and Valkyrie Elysium when nobody else.
I hate that Nina’s buff only lasts 2 seconds.
15 years later and reading Hikaru no Go finally paid off. No one can stop me now.
I can't stop playing it even though it gives you frick all for the main game unlike Triple Triad so far kek
the figures you win are good accessories
I wish there were icons on the map that showed skill level and who plays to make it easier to find opponents.
there's like 2 guys in every town I can't fight because I am Master 2 and can't find who to beat to go up
My dick
Why does a robot need big boobs? Conpletely unnecessary
gel electrolyte storage containers.
If I'm blowing the cash on an android to be my first mate I'm going to make sure we can actually mate too.
moron
>learn different crafts
>can only craft 1 item at a time
>limited as frick as to what you can craft
What's the point of making us choose a protag at the beginning if both characters meet up pretty much immediately and we can freely switch between them at will?
frick did i miss a cutscene after salvaging parts for Elena? I fast traveled to the Shrine immediately after beating up the thieves.
>yet another open world meme game with empty barren fields to """"""""explore"""""""""
Yeah how unrealistic. Good thing real life doesn't have any giant open fields.
yeah as opposed to real life with all those giant fields with cool shit and monsters to fight and cute anime tiddy gurls to bang oh wait a minute
>13 hours in
>Only just unlocked the second type of crafting
This is ridiculous.
In Japanese she says it's a maiden's secret.
the subs also said "allow myself to introduce myself" during that cutscene
Holy shit
I'm waiting for a crack or a heavy discount before I play the game. Denuvo can lick my dick.
kek well, see you in the threads in 2030
Holy shit. I heard this dude went off the deep end but fricking hell kek
She's fat?
He is probably, yes. And no surprise with the female MCs, troons cannot stand playing as men (even though they are one).
>I am bi-sexual and fully lesbian
>Inventory gets filled up with gear when crafting
>Most of it is useless
>Can only hold 20 of a piece of gear before it starts getting auto-sold
>No warning before this happens
>No way to sell multiple pieces of gear at once
>Every time you sell an item it goes back to the top of the list
>No way to scroll through the list more than one item at a time
>The sell confirmation prompt always defaults to no
Tri-Ace's combat designers might be great but their UI designers need to be fired.
holy shit elena is so fun bros
I just got to the bit where you can finally move around on your own for the first time. This game has a really strong opening hook. Really nice and to the point.
Man, I would never know about this game if it wasnt for Ganker.
yeah thats because they released it the same day as call of fricking duty which has marketing out the butthole. still i dont think theres much crossover in audiences
>yeah thats because they released it the same day as call of fricking duty
Yeah, that's the game that did it. That game that has released the same version of itself for the last 10 years. Couldn't be Bayo 3 or anything. You fricking nerd.
nobody woulda gave a frick or even remembered that game was coming out if it wasn't for all that lame sensationalized drama
>People keep looking at Albaird’s arm
>It looks completely normal
>Game won’t just tell you what’s wrong
This is going to be some stupid reveal isn’t it?
this game gives me Star Ocean 2 vibes so I am satisfied.
where are the upskirts screenshots?
get on it homosexuals
The camera's locked pretty high above the ground, it won't be possible without camera hacks.
No targets are locked on there, you can tell from the cursor's appearance.
>Crafting doesn’t keep a log of what makes what so if you don’t remember go frick yourself
Who thought this was a good idea?
>subs too small
That fricking sucks. I'm playing Ghost of Tsushima right now. I had a bit of trouble with small subs, but the accessibility options are great. You can make em huge, with a black background so they are always legible.
Are there outfits
post coomer screenshots
ouf getting master rank 5 at the esowa game and beating the lady at the port village gives you an accessory with 160% higher drop rate and 30% more fol
there's also an accessory from one of the masters that gives you 125% extra exp
give raymond the 100% exp weapon and laeticia with her passive 125%+ extra exp
that's insane and you get it so early
You get a 135% exp buff on the princess by level 5, and they had trophies for low level clears. Tri-ace has judged people for grinding or not.
jailbreak PS4 when?
For people who beat this, how would you rank it among the rest of the series?
>beat a 100h JRPG 1 days after it came out
any god gamers on Ganker can answer this guy?
>It's been out for like 2 days, 1 day if you're on pc. If you're getting an opinion from someone who already beat the game, it's a useless one because it's from a moron who rushed it.
I thought it came out a few days earlier, also I've grown accustomed to people no lifing long ass games
The game is 40-50 hours long.
It's been out for like 2 days, 1 day if you're on pc. If you're getting an opinion from someone who already beat the game, it's a useless one because it's from a moron who rushed it.
i7-8700
RTX 3070
32GB RAM
60 fps with everything maxed out at 1080p Ultrawide
Only 10 hours in. I'd say it's already better than 4 & 5.
But to be honest, i only play this game to satisfy my nostalgia for SO3 and "primitive planet lmao"
pc cucks, post your specs and the FPS you get.
i heard Denuve assrapes this game performance
3090/9900k
4k60 fps perfectly, gpu runs at like 35-40% usage
however for some reason I get stutters in towns only, they seem to get worse the longer I play
use youtube dumbass
60 fps on a 1050 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCKqilv1K6o
it stutters like crazy tho
>drops to sub 30 fps in combat
>blurry
>stutters
why are you lying? did you even watch the video you linked?
NTA, but as soon as poison water comes into play the game absolutely shits itself for some reason.
I just got Nina and holy shit, they really want me to look at her breasts so much. I'm not complaining but... it's hard to play the game with a constant boner.
I did not care much for her when they were doing the trailers, but she's growing to be my favorite.
They don't even jiggle much.
Her reaction to picking the energetic type was great. She's the best character for me right now.
>no option for the immature, bullyable type
>Welch is in the game
confirmed to still be in the MMO universe that 3 made the entire SO universe be in
Yes, Till the End of Time made all of Star Ocean to be about sufficiently advanced AI deserving human rights.
Get over it already.
Edge Maverick doesn't deserve human rights
How long does it take from when you deliver something to when new items arrive in the store? Why didn’t they just make it automatic?
Does it not update when you leave and re enter town? You can try fast travel to the same town.
Those outlines don't match up with their noses at all.
So JUST how big is the world in this game? Is it Xenoblade Chronicles X big?
WHAT IS THISSS START THE FRICKING GAME AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Anyone got any early game tips? Things I've figurerd out for myself are getting and upgrading Laeticia's exp passive and Albaird's money passive and maxing out the scanner range upgrade for DUMA. Anything else to take note of?
game is too easy even on the highest difficulty u can select.
Increased Money
Max Duma Scanner
Buy No Guard/Dodge Enhance for everyone
The best stat bonuses are the cheaper ones
Press Triangle to sell in bulk
Get first aid and auto heal. Take your defensive skills and don't be a moron going all offense.
Holy frick that holy bird fight atrocious. Why have a boss you can't reliably hit coupled with the terrible targeting system.
>another random crash
seriously frick SE ports
Is it fun? Is that b***h Welsh still around?
Answer the damn question!
it's incredibly jank with questionable design decisions, terrible writing, middle of the road dubbing, systems bloat and constant backtracking through the same areas over and over. So basically a typical star ocean game. Yes of course welch is in it, she was featured in her own trailer for the game you moron.
Might be right up my alley then.
Also, who watches Japanese trailers? Do you want everything spoiled for you? Jeez.
>spoilers
why the frick are you in a thread about the game after its launched and you still haven't even picked it up if you care about spoilers. Also the story is 100% inconsequential, nothing of note happens for the entirety of the game. The "story" is just a series of excuses and reasons to bring you through the various areas of the game. I tried thinking up something to spoil just to frick with you, but theres truly nothing I could say that would spoil anything, nothing of importance ever happens throughout the game.
You're implying we should bother reading 90% of the schlock on this site. Hell, I'm barely reading your response. Thanks for the info anyways.
>bunnies just give you garbage regular items when you turn them in
honestly, one of the last straws for me. I'm sure once they'll throw in a good reward when you find all of them, but seeing my first turn in of all the buns I found just end up being a shower of fricking consumables and accessories that are available from the shops. Whew boy, way to completely discourage anybody from giving a shit about your collecting minigame.
I haven't even been looking for them lel. Too busy playing the mini game.
I'm not there yet but I'm doing it anyway for the achievement so whatever.
where do you turn them in?
sometime after reaching the capital. During a story scene where laeticia pulls ray away from the group to discuss something, she brings you to a tree on a hill at night. It's a small zone, nearby against one of the rock walls is one of those big buns you've seen in towns near the shops, you can interact with it which transfers all of your caught buns. Like I said before, don't expect anything worthwhile at all. It's all literally vendortrash.
thanks anon
thought I missed it behind a side quest
MASSIVE
BIRTHING
HIPS
Remember: Elena is an android. Raymond literally had her designed that way.
something about her proportions, specifically her arms, is straight up off. They look either too long or too thick given the rest of her body's proportions. She also has an incredibly short ass that looks especially weird when running. Also her bangs hide the fact that her entire face is beneath the midway point of her head. Tri-ace truly cannot model humans for shit. It's also bravely default 2 levels of bad.
....
What, you're saying that Bravely has extremely stylized people that don't fit standard proportions? Ya don't say.
meant to say almost bravely default 2 levels of bad*. The game notoriously has lifeless looking faces with odd facial proportions, along with just being a shit looking game in general due to it's subpar lighting engine.
She shouldnt have been an android and she should have been a blonde tifa
No. The game needs more sci-fi elements, not less.
>This character is just Ray’s AI controlled real doll
Absolutely based
I now absolutely see what they meant by making Marielle the second protagonist in early versions before budget constraints kicked in. Assuming story would be somewhat similar you would spend first half of the game doing things not on the Dragon Quest planet and once you've linked up with Ray you would spend only just a few moments planetside.
The setup between the three protagonists in 6 reminds me of 3. Sophia was shilled as the heroine but Maria is the one who was more plot relevant.
I,d wish there is a modelviewer, also different outfits. Hope square delivers..but doubt it
no different outfits, was already confirmed. There is a glossary of characters with 3D models but ofc they don't let you zoom in or rotate them or anything, just a static 3d render. Woulda been super happy if you could inspect the renders like the trophies in smash bros, but god fricking forbid tri-ace makes a smart decision.
Right, thats what i discovered also. Why not give maximum features..a photo Mode could fix this too
>photo mode
never getting a photo mode, the most they allow you to do is pause the game during story scenes with the ability to remove the HUD. THAT'S their version of photo mode, not kidding. They probably figure consoles and steam both have dedicated capture systems in place so all they need to do is allow you to remove the HUD.
Anyone made any broken shit yet with the crafting?
I got pic related early on from star ruby which was pretty decent. I've just arrived in the capital and finally found a weapon with higher stats.
>24 hours
>capital
jesus I always forget the snail pace people play rpgs
how does crafting work? is it just random?
>Anyone made any broken shit yet with the crafting?
Once you get access to alchemy, provided you have the fol, a character in reserve with a lot of SP to boost it you can make higher tier ore via save scumming then use it to Smith better gear. You can use that ore and theoretically keep increasing the rank through alchemy.
Good way to break the game, reminds me of SO3. Good times.
Since nobody replied, this is what you can by doing what I said. I've only just reached the capital btw.
Holy frick, gonna do that as soon as I unlock it.
If this game is similar to SO3 I may want to play it. Anyone know how the post game is?
Some guy posted his fight against Gabriel Celeste already. (Search star ocean 6 post game) There are two post game dungeons minimum we know of.
Game is fun, though I'd argue the exploration aspect of SO3 is far superior even if duma is fun. You can go places you shouldn't in SO 3 to grind OP mobs early on.
Item creation feels a bit simplified, compared to SO 3 nowhere near as much guesswork to make something decent. Though I haven't unlocked synthesis yet.
Should I grab this on steam (deck) or ps5/xsx?
I don't feel like playing this on my desktop
wait for it to go on sale or gamepass/ps+. It's guaranteed to happen within a few months, likely january/february
thanks anon, I will
>add in DUMA to make exploring a bit more fun
>only lets you T-pose through the air for 2 seconds at a 30 degree angle at the most
>because of this limitation, level design is still extremely formulaic and flat
>DUMA points respawn, meaning there is no reason to "collect" them as a form of completion
ya know, that respawning points thing is another big head scratcher. I get its to make it easier to level up DUMA since their shit game design requires you to backtrack through areas dozens of times over, it would suck backtracking so much without anything else to collect after your first run through of an area, but at least it would be fun to have something to search for and check off for completionists other than the shit buns who only give you items you can get from the shops.
DUMA points don't respawn. New ones appear over time. It explains this right as soon as you get it.
They don't respawn fast enough if you're implying that you're just going to grind them.
What the hell is cladheim soluis? What enemy drops this?
its a sword for ray, you can buy it from the latest town's shop from when you get that quest.
no crack, no play
I'm actually really enjoying it so far. I don't know if it's just because I got burnt out with how painfully mediocre Tales of Arise was but this is a lot of fun.
we cant have a nice scify rpg no, we always have to fricking crash on a medieval fantasy planet.
If Harada wasn't moronic we could have had Xenosaga trilogy remaster
this is honestly what I was looking forward to with SO6, SOMETHING to recreate the setting of Xenosaga, even if only a little bit. But nope, this feels more like a budget dragon quest game with worse character designs and a janky ripoff of tales combat. Now that SO6 shit the bed and PSO2 is nothing but gachatrash, I don't think there are ANY japanese made high sci-fi set games out there, or even on the horizon. Honestly kinda depressing, CHOCO is a great artist and developed a really cool and well done tech style with the saga series. Definitely gives me shinkawa inspiration vibes from some of CHOCO's concept arts.
Are you moronic?
>Franchise has from the very fricking start been
>"What if sci fi met fantasy?"
>Why is this game not a completely different thing than it has been its entire2 5 year existence?!
>Ray unlocks a skill which fires a beam when taking a hit without flinching
>It works with VA barrier
Oh yes this shit is broken on multihit attacks.
Actiongay here. I just enjoy games with hot b***hes and real time melee combat. Doesn't need to be that deep, a button masher is fine from time to time. RPG mechanics are also fine. Will I like this game?
Sure, it's fun and I like staring at the girl's asses while I play as them.
Alright, sounds fun. I'll pick it up once it's discounted on Steam. How's the PC port atm? Also why the frick are Square games always so damn expensive?
Fake full screen. Shader compiles on installation AND you have to recompile them in the title screen else you'll get stutters. Some anons had crashes, I personally didnt, but I still experienced some framedrops. Typical Squenix PC port
>AND you have to recompile them in the title screen else you'll get stutters.
is this why my game stutters like frick even with a 3090?
>Shader compiles on installation AND you have to recompile them in the title screen
Explain this to me like I'm a 10 year old.
Long loading times
WHen you install the game, it will have a long setup load time where it says "compiling shaders." This is actually bullshit though as after you wait an hour of it doing that, you'll need to go to the system section of the title screen, go to graphics then set the "recompile shaders when you return to the title screen" on for it to actually take into effect
Have you recompiled the shaders in the title screen? If you havent then most likely yes.
>ave you recompiled the shaders in the title screen? If
nope I only did the initial shader compiling on first launch
I'll try the menu one as well
this is exactly your kind of game
It reward good play so you can mash even harder
It is good
You can combo in SO6 just like in Bayo and DMC, just don't expect any complex inputs, it's less deep than Tales of.
So it seems V is enjoying the game?
Seems a good handful of anons have been enjoying SO6 so far, although it's not without the usual jank that comes with these games though.
Where do you find a level 3 Esowa Master?
there's one in eda, the 4th town you visit
Anybody got a decent combo setup for Elena? I just got her and I'm using Gladiator, Assassin, then the whip that lashes at a wide area. Seems to work well except she sometimes whiffs the scythe part. I'm thinking Assassin might be best to set first, so she won't be constantly missing with it whenever I'm switching out to someone else.
I'm also having a ton of fun playing Midas as a melee mage. Gave him the point blank passive and a couple of combos using his instant cast spells and he's just mauling everything. Toss the higher level spells into his charge slots and I'll occasionally get a moment where he just nukes the field with Spicule.
Gladiator > Assassin > Fists/Lancer
Lancer > Tamer > Reaper
Gunner, Eliminator and Reaper can easily combo into themselves respectively
Buy AP Saver and No Guard if you haven't as yet, she's very susceptible to getting kicked out of her animations.
Buy No Guard and First Aid for basically everyone who can use it and upgrade them once you get all of your skills. No Guard is basically mandatory for Nina and Midas to function properly. Also, I'm pretty sure you can cancel a ton of animations by dodge rolling.
>Buy No Guard and First Aid for basically everyone who can use it and upgrade them once you get all of your skills.
Yeah they are which I already have but it can't help me when I am doing Universe + underleveled. Basically because AI can't dodge for shit you will have all of them dead whenever you encounter any resistance from enemies.
>Also, I'm pretty sure you can cancel a ton of animations by dodge rolling.
Yeah, and that's something I don't have problem with. Soloing things is generally easy except for dying to some OHKO once in a while or when boss summons more enemies, that plus VA guard a champ at tanking hits with the upgrade.
Have you tried using Nina's gather skill?
Of course I did but the problem is that you can't order her to do it. The usual results of setting up something like
>Gather -> Tingling Chimes (heal skill)
is AI randomly moving the character you control and then failing to follow up on the combo (even if I had max AP filled up). If you try to do it yourself she will gather everyone then before Tingling Chimes come Ray is already sprinting out of the AoE to kill himself on some boss attack.
In short it's just suffers from common JRPG disease when it comes to party members. AI is too underdeveloped and you have too little direct control on whether they should fight from distance or what actions they should have queued. Same with a lot of Tales games like the godawful Zestiria AI.
Are there healer in this game? Do I have to rely on blueberries for healing?
Nina. She is one of the most interesting healers I've seen in a JRPG.
nina can heal and buff
Learn the passive healing skills first.
You get a healer 5 hours in but those passives still help.
Nina. She uses a bell and is honestly a lot of fun to play. Using the skill that sets up a stationary AOE damage field is so broken.
I am gonna be honest here the combat has a lot of annoying stuff
>Companion AI is moronic with some redeeming moments. I have seen them once react to a big AoE from a boss by just backing out of it, but later on another boss had a sweeping ground level attack the AI wouldn't jump over and a pretty much instant kill projectile barrage they couldn't dodge. Essentially it's super dumb compared to something like FFVIIR and will eat shit unless you keep feeding them healing items or simply overlevel them.
>Another point to add to that is that everything feels like a HP sponge that can instantly kill you precisely because you end up soloing every boss out of frustration.
>Flinching and knockdowns are GOD AWFUL. There seems to be no tech move including Ray's move that should do that at least for knockdown. It also lasts age essentially meaning you're dead once you get knocked down.
>Blindsides are very gimmicky. Rather than a skill thing they are more of an ON/OFF thing to do when you have VA, except they sometimes fail due to dumbest shit, like the enemy losing aggro on you and turn to the side before you launch your VA.
>The stop mode is far too undeveloped. Again comparing it with FFVIIR it lacks a lot of stuff like being able to queue someone to do certain attack even if they are in the middle of another move. It would be especially useful for Nina, but right now if you switch to her for a few seconds whoever you're controlling is probably animation locking himself into certain death.
never played the previous SO games. Have they always been this janky and "inferior" to their other JRPG rivals? I know SO5 was a shitshow. But were the PS2/PS3 era SOs ever genuinely good or have they always been mediocre almost indie-tier budget games?
I have quite the nostalgia for older Tri-Ace games so I love the systems they develop. The only good comparison I can make for other JRPGs would be Tales, which I would say Tales is overall better as a series. SO 2 and 3 are my favorites and 3 still has one of the best postgames of any JRPG.
I don't think they were ever great. IMO SO2 and 3 were the best but even they had their share of issues.
But I can't deny that I put in like over 200 hours into SO3.
Jank yes, but if they hook you you will fall in love. That goes for pretty much every tri-Ace game, not just SO.
they've always been like this. You either love em or hate em. I would never have considered them great games, even back in the day. They were kinda just there. Even in the PS2 era, you had FF which was just orders of magnitude above what SO could have hoped to achieve, Tales of (symphonia) was really good, baten kaitos was kinda low budget but had great pre-rendered art, amazing OST and a unique enough setting to elevate it. Shadow Hearts kinda has the same appeals for baten kaitos, decent art, unique setting. Xenosaga better filled in the sci-fi niche than SO with a more convoluted (but also more interesting imo) story. All of those I would say are superior to the SO games from the ps2 era, and those I would say were the best SO games. They have definitely declined in quality over the years but I wouldn't say they were ever great on their own. You either liked them for what they were and looked past the myriad flaws and shortcomings or you didn't. I was fine with what they were back then but nowadays with so many games coming out constantly I just can't bring it upon myself to keep playing this series.
Everyone else also have stutter frequently?
there's a recompile option in the title screen
why is this option is not on by default, so fricking dumb
>Party members leave
>Rejoin 5 minutes later
>Re-equip accessories
>Party members leave 2 minutes later
>They come back
>Re-equip accessories
>They l
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Yeah what the frick were they thinking with that crap. It’s real annoying.
