This pretty much. If you like bethesda rpg you might enjoy it tho
>sneaking is locked behind a perk
What the fuck
Everything is locked behind perks and oyu need skill points to unlock those perks and then you need skill points to upgrade them.
And you only get one skill point per level.
I played like 50 hours before i looked up why my boost pack doesnt boost.
I just never wanted to waste point on it.
I just used console commands to give myself 5 extra points at around level 10 to get the shit that should be baseline.
If there's a mod in the future that gives you 2 skill points on level up I think that would be ideal. I know the game is kind of structured around you playing through NG+ but I think that was a mistake as the vast majority of people hardly even finish a game, let alone finish it multiple times.
Alternatively, I wish they would've structured unlocks similar to Skyrim or something. Have the challenges where if you do 10 of x, you can spend a skill point. But then have an alternative route where if you do 20 of x or 30 of x or something then it just auto levels the skill without you using a skill point. So you can technically level shit on your own or use skill points to "accelerate" the process if you want.
I just started exterminating animals for xp as like killing 20 high level animals gives more xp than finishing some quests.
It needs a a discount system for things you do often. Like I have killed hundred of pirates and spacers and varuun with a shotgun but dont even have a point in it. Because I have to put 4 points in piloting to get the main quest ship that is class C.
I made a batch file and then just added them all by console commands. Fuck all that waiting on to level up noise.

Sneaking isn't locked. You just need the first sneak perk to get the detection meter.
It’s not. Much of the hate is just bullshit
> If I can't satisfy my need to MURDER AND STRIP innocent bystanders , NO ONE SHOULD PLAY IT
features like sneaking and crafting are locked behind perks
They dropped the ball so hard with the shit skill system its incredible.
The perk system itself is even fucking boring. It's the logical de-evolution of a bethesda system because it reduces all weapons down to three types, and It's all 5 and 10 percent steps, and all social skills are ultimately just combat skills because there's nothing to do in Bethes-duh games that allows for progress but do shitty combat.
Literally every other social/xeno skill is [crowd control] [enemy type]
>Melee sucks. Knifes are the only melee options
>Can't strip the enemies armor and wear it yourself or sell it.
>Shitty architecture.
>many unkillable NPCs
>No handcrafted adventure. Everything is randomized
>No free planet exploration. You get thrown intro an invisible cage
>Loading screen simulator
>3 different editions, cosmetic DLC
Like any Bethesda game, bland and not very interesting. Should have great mod potential.
I dropped it after the intro missions up till you reach the Constellation or whatever HQ. Writing was horrid and nonsensical, shooting was shit, the perk tree looked terrible, as did the game's visual and performance was atrocious. I have precisely zero goodwill left to test any "it gets good 12 billion hours in" claims.

Its a boring piece of shit
Dont post in the thread then you dumb piece of shit no one is asking you personally
It's the same formula that bethesda has putting out for 15 years, if you like the gameplay of skyrim or fallout then you'll probably like starfield too.
The writing is not the greatest but there are a couple of good questlines, unfortunately the main story is not really one of them.
the exploration is the biggest flaw, and every planet just being a series of fast travels does get old, even if you make an effort not to fast travel and manually jump everywhere you STILL feel like you're just menu hopping through space.
the procgen planets would have been fine if it wasn't for the terrible variety of random POIs. They couldn't figure how to make procedurally generated structures out of parts so you get the exact same buildings and facilities copy pasted all over the place, with the same dead bodies and loot containers in the exact same positions.
building outposts is somehow even worse than FO4 settlements
ship building is pretty clunky but you can make some OK looking ships if you try hard enough, even though they all have a made from legos quality to them.
Pictures you take with photo mode get used as loading screens, which is a super minor thing but its also really cool and makes all the fast travel a lot more comfy if you take a bunch of good pictures.
Overall i give it a 6/10, it's not complete shit but it's also nothing special, probably best picked up on sale
>It's the same formula that bethesda has putting out for 15 years
Is it really, though? I can't quite put my finger on it, but the world feels less 'alive' than skyrim. There's the fact that much more npcs are essential now, and I haven't really noticed shopkeepers having day/night schedules or anything like that. Where do they sleep? What do they eat, unironically?
>but the world feels less 'alive' than skyrim.
I think the overall cities in Starfield feel better than places like Whiterun or Winterhold or whatever. However the worldbuilding really takes a hit when you can't look past the procedural generation aspect of all the planets. At least in a game like Skyrim, the entire world is crafted. You have towns and cities that are placed in specific spots that you will encounter naturally.
None of the exploration in Starfield is really natural or organic. You fast travel to a planet, it gets populated with randomly generated points of interest, and you just run in a straight line to them. Outside of the main hub cities, everything else is procedurally generated so it really takes away from the naturally exploration of the game world. Finding a human settlement on a random planet is kind of meaningless when you go there and it just has 10 NPCs named "Settler" that say the same exact thing as every other randomly generated settlement. At least in something like Skyrim you'd find a town and there'd usually be one or two meaningful (relatively) quests there.
This is the same shit they did with movies, particularly Marvel shit. they test how little effort they can put in to movies/games to both condition and see what people will still buy. Over time they find a nice lazy median that will make them the maximum profit for minimal effort. Of course at the same time they also report huge costs, most expensive movie ever, meanwhile that's all bullshit and they are pocketing that shit.
You're right on that, the NPCs don't have routines anymore and there's really no reason for it.
skyrim always felt dead and soulless to me, starfield is a step up in that department.
>Step up
Like... further up the path to being more dead and soulless?
Yeah getting rid of NPC routines and homes really makes the cities feel bustling and lively
skyrim towns were 10 huts and a few npcs. the civil war was a 5v5 team death match.
i don't know if all npcs are sleeping but some quest i had to go into a computer and delete job applicants at some company, i had to wait for 5:30pm for the workers to go home or wherever (and they did)
I think the issue is that fast traveling with your ship doesn't progress time at all. Combined with the fact that cities will always auto populate with generated NPCs that times of day feel really similar. You don't ever get that feeling like in Skyrim where the town is asleep and you can wander around picking locks. You won't be able to have no one watching while you hack into a GenBank ATM for some credits. There are ALWAYS random generated NPCs filling the streets even if some of the random named NPCs are on a sleep schedule.
So you end up traveling to like 5-6 different planets in the morning and no time progresses and you end up exploring all of them around the same time. And even if you wait until night, nothing really changes.
I went to atlantis at night, same thing with the paradise planet and nobody was around, one thing though is that planets clearly don't have a shared time between them so its hard to see.
Maybe it's a specific time at night then, I dunno. Every time it was night in New Atlantis for me there were still a ton of random NPCs walking around and sitting on benches and shit.
That’s the sacrifices for having so many NPCs. Also the game needs to run on the Series S which is the equivalent to a mid range PC back in 2016. They could give out more complex task but that would require more CPU usage, tanking frame rates even more so. So that means they just got rid of the whole radiant AI system. That’s why the game feels soulless. The game feels like if EA wanted to make a space open world game back in 2015.
>unfortunately the main story is not really one of them
i was surprised how much of the main quest i liked. the shit with the collector, the split dimension lab, and the stuff on earth was all pretty good
Irredeemably bad.

Way too many obese fuckers.
Oh and most of them are black.
It unironically does get better after like 10-20 hours. I'm not saying this is a good thing either. It's just my experience with it.
The faction quests are FAR superior to the main quest. They have some of the most enjoyable missions that actually feel like you're a space wayfarer instead of focusing on "muh space magic" or whatever. They have more interesting decisions and characters.
I think my biggest issue is the companions. I just don't really like any of them. They have hardly any dialogue (I think I've heard the same banter between Sarah and Andreja 50x times now) so you get a ton of repeats. Also when you disable ships, any crew in your ship say the same shit so you get 5 people talking about how you knocked out a grav drive. I think my next playthrough I'll just do entirely alone without any crew.
Also if you're going to play, get into outpost building early on. I'm ~60 hours in and I just started building my first outpost and I feel like a retard that I haven't been banking materials from different planets for 60 hours.
Wait does the game literally forget you "discovered" something if you go far enough away, because they couldn't be assed to even pretend each random spot is unique enough to warrent tagging it as already found?
It is a different location technically. It is just copy pasted.
That's even worse than I guessed.

Your brain structure is male
You participate in male brained discourse and hobbies
You behave like a male if stressed or assaulted

Science does not support your debunked, outdated claims.
You moron don't understand biology.
You just throw around the "science" as a buzzword.
Jesus fucking christ you're just openly taking the bait.
The "science" behind "gender affirmation" treatment/surgery was literal child molestation that was deemed a success even through the kid that was transitioned ended up detransitioning and living as a man before eventually self-terminating.
Take your meds, science deniers.
I do deny that sociology is a science. It's a reddit-tier field that relies on nothing more than subjective findings and bias to interpret often incomplete data. No, feeling like you're a woman doesn't mean you have a woman brain. Medicine can't even determine if brains are gendered yet here comes the fucking chuds with the ~30 sample size studies finding that acktually they are :^)
I'm so fucking glad that college participation and interest in non-STEM degrees are plummeting across the US; it means we only have to deal with a handful more of leftist indoctrinated """"SCIENTISTS"""" with a 4-year ingrained chip on their shoulder shitting all over science before the STEM degrees that haven't lost any interest start wiping out those clowns from the workforce.
That's actually a problem though, we need smart sane people to take those fields back from the zealots
Leftists are currently trying to take over economics to try to coup it and make marxism the default, luckily the amount of math and stats you need filters them

No. That isn't what is happening in that webm. Once you "discover" a point of interest, it gets marked on the tile you're on. You can then fast travel between any discovered point of interest.
It's not that it forgets, it reuses the areas. You can find copy/pasted entire sections of the map on the same map. Or across multiple planets. You will be running through that exact warehouse setup multiple times in your playthrough. There's only a few encounters they set up and the game just plops them down randomly on maps when you spawn.
all the generic named outposts/settlements are copy pastes of each other.
Instead of taking advantage of the randomly generated POI system by creating maybe a dozen variations of each type, they literally just made one and called it a day.
Oh and don't forget you're supposed to be an explorer who finds and surveys planets that have never been explored before, except every single planet in the entire game is filled with these copy-pasted outposts and have already been explored or settled.
I will give you a small example of how bad this is. When you create your character you have your "class" that is the only choice you can make about your build. This "class" is 3 skills that you start with. That's cool right? I am sure it has tons of builds to try. Well you get a skill every time you level up. You know how many skills you will have by the end? Around 60. Those initial skills do absolutely nothing.
not really trying to defend the game but this kind of thing is pretty typical for rpgs. starting build is just a small head start for the early game, then you either use that as a base to specialize or say fuck it and go broad so that every character looks the same by level 10 (which this game definitely heavily incentivizes but still, not terribly unique to starfield). every few hours i get one unique dialogue option from my starting perk and that's the only reason i really remember i even picked one, but yeah it's dumb this game doesn't have stats outside of skills, wish we could go back to the pre-skyrim days
It's a Bethesda RPG, which implies everything you need to know about the game. Same qualities, same flaws as ever. The visuals is the only aspect that was really improved. If you like their games and you're a sci-fi/space fan, you will enjoy Starfield.
Just know that it's a Bethesda RPG like I said, not a "space game" which doesn't mean anything anyway. Your adventure take place on multiple planets and what you do on those planets is largely the same things you did in the previous Beth games. It's still a sandbox and you're still largely will spend time fucking around in the game world. It will feel more segmented since you don't stay on the same map, but also more varied.
absolutely fucking 3/10 game held up only by its gun combat, some visuals and middling outpost options the rest is trash
For better or worse it's basically just Fallout 4 with a sci-fi skin.
Biggest issue is the bare bones space mechanics and lack for in depth interaction with it.
If you like Fallout you'll like it. If you don't probably not.
not true
You'll probably like it*

I'm only like 30 minutes in, not being able to fly my ship to and from places or even land it really sucks. Feeling like a really big fallout 4 mod. Its fine if you want another Bethesda game to fill the void for a little bit but not a great space game.
Bit strange that i never judged outerworlds for the same thing but I expected less from that game and more from Starfield
I think outer worlds can shield itself from that a bit because it doesn't even really try to present itself as an open space simulator. you get your ship on the main quest, everyone gets the same one with 0 customization, and it's just a level select screen, you never get to actually fly it. starfield puts all of this effort into the space ship stuff that it just ends up feeling extremely silly that it's effectively also just a level select screen unless you're in orbit. it's got the training wheels of outerworlds while it wants you to think it's closer to no man's sky
The main advantage starfield has over outer worlds is that starfield doesnt try as hard to be outer world's redditor rick and morty attempt at humor
yeah, it's got esg approved wokeness instead
worst OW has is some ugly lesbians and that plotline about an asexual pajeet(btw her original writer was moved onto something else after the first plane and replaced by a tumblr whale, and it SHOWS)

Only one crying is you.
haha no hes based. I think you're the only one crying also.
someone is going to be crying alright once mods that can add NPCs will be possible. can't wait until nexus trannies will get doxed and get put in as starfield NPCs you can murder. once that whore Elinora is going to be put in the game, Dark0ne is going to shit his pants and cry LMFAO, he's already on damage control about her right now
speaking of which, that snowflake guy should be first, he already has facedox
Nice good to know there's a site for banned mods.
Just wait till looksmenu drops, and you can fully replace all jeets and blacks with whites, game has potential. (:
it's alright. a little better than fallout 4 imo. plenty of little annoyances like the constant fast travel and the first few hours I was constantly googling "starfield how to x" because there is a ton of unintuitive shit with its systems. that said, I think the "it gets good after 10 hours" people were right, once you get enough levels to open up the tech tree a bit and get comfortable with the ship/base building then i started having a lot more fun. almost done with the main quest and there have been some pretty memorable quests strewn amongst the typical bethesda filler
you're wrong.
k.
>give me honest reviews with pros and cons as equally as you can
I know it's a meme but it does actually improve 6-8 hours in and become weirdly more enjoyable as you go. The intro is bog standard basic and hours 2-5 suck because 1) first city is soulless 2) introduced to a bunch of systems (ship building, crafting) but you really don't have the materials or credits to use them, yet. Dogfights are rough without investing in piloting.
It's sort of weird when you think about it. Bethesda games have been getting simpler each iteration then there is a 180 in Starfield.
Then hour 7-10 you get out on your own and the follow up towns are fun and it improves.
Big thing if you like random encounters in space: when the ship screen loads to orbiting a planet don't jump to the surface, yet. Wait twenty seconds. The random encounters in space don't fire for a bit after loading so you'll miss almost all of them if you immediately disembark. Weird way to do it but that defines the game.
Anyways, if you don't want to push through the first garbage but, save your money or time pirating it.
>Big thing if you like random encounters in space: when the ship screen loads to orbiting a planet don't jump to the surface, yet. Wait twenty seconds. The random encounters in space don't fire for a bit after loading so you'll miss almost all of them if you immediately disembark.
Fuck so that's why I've been having such an issue with leveling my piloting and finding random encounters. I've mostly been relying on UC Vanguard missions as they're mostly dogfight missions and the Crimson Fleet questline gave me like 30 ships to destroy which helped a lot. I guess I'll get used to floating in space for a little bit before I land on the planet.
My save file is at 80 hours and I've noticed a significant increase in script lag.
>Fuck so that's why I've been having such an issue with leveling my piloting and finding random encounters.
I legitimately leveled my space flight in random encounters and didn't know about the UC training till I was 8 points in.
The quest lines (main, rangers) have some dog fights.
Random dog fights on loading world orbiting maps. These should actually trigger in five seconds, faster than random encounters.
On a galaxy map you will see "ship" icon around some planets. This is sometimes pirates battling some cruiser or whatever you can join in on and good to build skills since you're not usually just targeted.
Equal level multi ship battles are set sail to get raped without improving you ship a lot and skills, usually, but maybe skill issue.
You can very easily level all your spaceship needs in the spaceship simulator in New Atlantis. It's unlocked through the UC Vanguard faction missions.
Yeah, you're totally right. I just went in blind to UC after visiting Alikta or whatever and by then I had a lot of space encounters under my belt. Would have been easier the other way around.
starfield is a very simple game
they didn't do any kind of 180
this is the same skyrim fallout 4 do everything in 1 playthrough and join all the factions perk slop

>4 cities
>starfield city looks like new atlantis
>mass effect city from 2007 looks like pic related
bethesda didn't even try a little bit
You'd complain if New Atlantis were as small as the Citadel's actual interactive areas was.
No I wouldn't, mass effect 2 offers even less playable space in the citadel but it mogs the fuck out of anything in starfield
bethesda makes baby cities that don't even feel big
It's easy to make cities feel big when they're a jpeg
doesn't matter but bethesda also gets mogged by its own earlier games
every city in Skyrim mogs Imperial City
Oblivion is a terrible example. All of the jank of their early games but with the boring world/terrible design decisions of their later games. People only like it for nostalgia, it doesn't hold up the same way Morrowind does
And the mass effect devs put more effort into that one jpeg than bethesda put into their entire game.
>And the mass effect devs put more effort into that one jpeg
Shame they didn't put any into this one!
Starfield has more than 4 cities, it has 4 main hubs but there’s scattered settlements like homestead
So cool, and they the citadel’s area you actually played in wasn’t that big. Cool landscape I guess… but KOTOR did that first and better.
>how is it really?
From what i've seen on youtube it's bad. The combat is clunky(you're better off playing Cyberpunk 2077) and the conversations are horrible with characters looking like potatos(you're better off playing Baldur's Gate 3).
>From what i've seen on youtube-
>watches some footage of a game instead of ever playing it
>forms an opinion and shares it online
why is this so common with zoomers
You did the same thing with Todd's pre-release marketing bullshit and preordered it based on a known liar's sales pitch.
Can you link the post where I did that? No? Interesting.
You bought it blind?
>preordered
>bought
Strike two, care to try again?
nta but I buy every single game blind. I find following any form of marketing is the main reason why people overhype themselves on games. I've gotten pretty good at knowing whether or not I'll enjoy a game so I really don't ever listen to critics or public reviews on games and I just play whatever I think will be fun. I'm rarely disappointed.
Watching some gay on YouTube and an hours long in-depth preview and interview with the developer are completely different.
zoomers are the last generation before the collapse, the kids they will produce will be too retarded to sustain the system.
the society will go on, they will just become retarded, esg approved mutts like the ones in the game
AYYOOOO
I wonder what causes the eyes to bug out like that. I've noticed it sometimes when I'm in third person with my player character as well. Like the eyes get stuck in "FULLY OPEN" or sometimes I get random bedroom eyes like they're stuck blinking
I think its their state machine freezing animations during some transitions
it happens to your player character too. apparently, anyone who doesn't have face sculpted faces(like named NPCs) will suffer from this
you can't fix this, it's baked into this pajeet patched build of gamebryo
*hand sculpted
also, was it actually confirmed how useless the pronouns selection is? nexus is throwing a big fit over the pronoun removal mod, despite it being more or less meaningless lmfao
Extremely clunky bethesda rpg. Gameplay has not really evolved, vanilla ui is the worst bethesda has ever done. (can be modded to be tolerable)
Ai somehow is bugged.
max 5/10 for me
>Please dont talk about the most glaring issue because it hurts my feelings(im brown)
Nah, have a nice day gay. Games full of morons and Bethesda’s audience is 99.9% white. So that means they hate their audience. Oh yeah and literally everything else is also shit. 3/10 game
Overall it's extremely mid

>Fallout 4 base building
Every named NPC is essential btw
Immortal NPCs when the main story is about multiverses lol
I can't fucking get over the fact it literally crib noted the loop cycles from NMS while recycling skyrim again, past a point I have to just be impressed with Todd's boldness.
Similar to Pokemon, I can't really blame them for doing the bare minimum though. This shit continues to sell insane amounts without them really having to innovate anything. They found their normie cash cow and are just going to milk it for eternity.
played it for a few hours
It's a space game where you can't fly your ship to planets, on planets, or around planets. All planets are shitty grey wastelands with nothing to be found on them (muh realism) so exploration is nonexistent even compared to NMS (shit game)
The only good things I hear are "the side quests are good" which is all I need to know. Beth quest design and writing has been dogshit since oblivion
after playing starfield i feel as though i owe cyberpunk an apology
Cyberpunk is a 9/10 so yeah you better apologize
this, but with Outer Worlds
unironically a much better game, and OW is just average
What bothers me most about outer worlds is that they had a clean slate, new engine, new blank canvas... And just made Fallout 3, again.
it's more like fallout new vegas gameplay mixed with design philosphy of Fallout 1. Too bad they shit the bed with writing, hope Outer Worlds 2 will improve on OW1, the DLC was pretty good so it gives me hope
the DLC was awful I literally stopped playing when I saw it was nothing but bullet sponges and "the same gun you're using but +2 more damage" was 99% of the loot
moron the DLC is literally the best part of the game, what are you talking about?
maybe try it again once you're leveled up. the writing actually starts getting good in both of these, and combat encounters are interesting, something that was lacking in the base game
>le space slug mind control
>good writing
t. rick and morty redditor
it was fun from a gameplay point of view, they never drop it on you and the main hub just gets filled with enemies for no reason. creeped me out the first time, the ending was disappointing tho
Outer worlds is way worse than starfield
Don't try to use the starfield hatewagon to push your shit game
Outer Worlds is shit but its skill/flaw/perk system is considerably better and more interesting than Starfield's barebones skill system. Outer Worlds also had some sense of visual style instead of looking like a decade old game engine demo.
The Outer Worlds is an aggressively mediocre game.
Starfield is actually decent.
No, Starfield is not "decent".
Well, I know for a fact "disappointment of the decade" doesn't fit cyberpunk anymore.
pros
>faction sidequests are enjoyable
>spaceship builder is great
>shooting is great
>space combat is fun/challenging when you get attacked by multiple ships
>the game looks great after disabling taa
>the game is fun
>despite performance issues the game seems well polished compared to other bethesda title the only problems ive had is graphical bethesda jank no crashing or anything
>thew new picking mechanic is awesome
cons
>performance is ass
>TAA
>weapon modding is a bit basic, cant break down weapons etc
>outpost building sucks you cant stack modules vertically so everything you make is flat, it also has no way of snapping objects to a grid or degrees so things you place aren't lined up nicely
>in my playthrough ive had a quest not trigger for the crimson fleet so cant continue with their quests
>hardly any romance options
>spaceship builder is great
I feel like it's too limited. I just unlocked being able to use Class B parts but I don't think it increased the max mass of the ships I can build. I think regardless of your skills, the size is capped at 80 meters. You can never really build your dream starship or freighter and are always limited to just being able to have a medium sized ship.
Hoping mods allow for a more limitless building experience and I can just make a fuckhuge ship eventually.
Honestly I wish NMS would steal something from this game since they stole their funny universe loops.
And that being the ship builder/module swapper- Just split the ships stats up across it's pieces and let people swap parts of things they own.
>but I don't think it increased the max mass of the ships I can build.
the mass of my ship is way in the red and i can fly it fine im not entirely sure how it effects things, it is a bit slow i guess but i dont have good enough reactor to add more engines
have you leveled up your piloting skill so you can fly class B and C? there's also a loading screen tip that says ships larger than 80m can't land on planets
I literally just unlocked class B so I need to fuck around more with it. I think I've kind of fucked up trying to overload my ship with cargo instead of focusing on outposts as my main source of storage. I'm going to keep building out storage in my outpost and remove some of the cargo on my ship to try to end up with a bigger one later today.
I do think the starship building is really cool but I just find it odd that they limit it. I think I understand why and like
said I guess I could do that. I assume they limit it because if you make it too big they instance the ship as a zone and you could end up having performance issues having 1000 hub modules each with their own objects in them all loaded at once.
>I think I've kind of fucked up trying to overload my ship with cargo instead of focusing on outposts as my main source of storage.
i started with outpost as storage then moved it all to my ship the chests you can place in your outpost now have a weight limit and you cant fit much in them these only stored 2500 weight kek i moved it all to my ship
I bought the shieldbreaker which is class B and I don't have the class B skill but it still lets me fly it
>Hoping mods allow for a more limitless building experience and I can just make a fuckhuge ship eventually.
you can remove the ship size limit already with .ini file tweaks
I don't think you realize how big 80 meters is.
I think it's my error for the most part. I've tried building some ships and I always just end up with an error saying it needs more engines and when I build more it gives an error saying I've gone about the max engines I can have.
There's something I'm just not understanding about the ship building. It feels like 80 meters is huge but if you actually build that far then your ship is too heavy and it doesn't allow you to build enough engines to actually propel a ship that big.
Change the way you build your ships then.
Mass is an important aspect, and starship design gives you better parts than just access to class b ships.
You can only have 12 power to pieces i think, so yeah, you really need to go for the best engines on big ships.
Of course I do, it's about the size of your mum.
Do you like Skyrim? This game is clearly inspired by the Skyrim formula, down to the "dragonborn". It's so heavily inspired by Skyrim that it feels like this game has been in development since Skyrim and they've just been building based on that. Gun play is decent, but I prefer swords/knives and that's been pretty fun. It starts a bit slow, New Atlantis is the starting area and tbh it's not a good indicator of the quality of the game. It's my least favorite city in the game, it doesn't really look that good and is hard to navigate and find quests in. Overall there's a learning curve early on since the game has so many systems and oddities and they poorly explain all of it while dumping you into the biggest and worst city in the game, which leaves a bad first impression.
The planets get critiqued a lot but I'd argue they're pretty brilliant and will get better with time. They're radiant quests and dungeons. There's a solid variety of events and dungeon types so it doesn't feel stale even 30+ hours in. You'll always have something to do to take a break from quests. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw new events/dungeons in the upcoming patches/dlc and it'll be easy for them to slot it in the future. Quests are plentiful so there's a lot to do even if you chose to ignore planetary exploration or find it unfun.
Story and characters are fine so far, but again, Sarah Morgan is who you start with and she's incredibly boring. By far the least interesting of the 4 major companions.
Overall I enjoy it, but also Skyrim is one of my most played games. I think this game is already good but I expect that dlc will help the game feel a bit more full and perhaps fix some of the UX that holds it back.
>Story and characters are fine so far, but again
shut the fuck up reddit moron
>shazamposters are now resorting to just spewing insults
Have you played a Bethesda game before?
It's that but space.
>how is it really?
The 7/10, 8/10 reviews are accurate. Lots of shit that people say isn't there, actually is just not explained by the game at all.
Overall, if you like Fallout 4 you will probably like it. It's like if Fallout 4 had 3 Diamond cities. I mainly just play RPGs for the quests though to be honest, so if you are one of the people who wants a space exploration life simulator then you will be disappointed
>Overall, if you like Fallout 4
>he likes fallout 4
>listen to me
Yeah, Fallout 4 is decent. Depends whether you can still find enjoyment in something that is worse than older games or not, or whether you've fully gone for le jaded gamer schtick
Decent in what respect? exploration was good but thats where it ended. the writing was the worst and the conversations were simplistic and bad
>Decent in what respect?
There were some memorable and enjoyable quests and I thought companions like Nick Valentine were pretty well done. When it comes to modern games I set the bar pretty low to be honest though
>if you like Fallout 4 you will probably like it.
i think skyrim might be a better comparison i didn't like fallout 4 but like this game
BETHESDA IS BEGGING THROUGH WINDOWS FOR PEOPLE TO BUY IT
ITS OVER BETHESDA SHILLS
>pros: fallout 4 in space
>cons: fallout 4 in space
this is literally all you need to know.
the gameplay is great. movement is smooth, gunplay is the best bethesda's ever done, the spaceshouts are on an energy meter rather than a cooldown so you can actually somewhat play as a space wizard if you want. tons of guns, too many to carry all the ones i want at once. zero variation in space suits/armor so far, you'll see the same five suits over and over. weapon and suit modding is fun, better than fallout 4. missions are way better this time around, better written and much more interesting. one story mission has you investigating a research facility that suffered some kind of quantum explosion - you end up jumping between universes inside the facility, simultaneously exploring the intact and destroyed versions, interacting with staff who are dead or alive depending on which universe you're in, jumping to the intact universe to get through destroyed sections and locked doors, culminating in you reaching the site of the explosion and getting to decide which timeline "survives." space combat is simple but fun, with the highlight for me being the fact that you can disable an enemy ship, board them, kill the crew and claim the ship for yourself. it's so fuckin satisfying, you just have to try it. carry weight is a pain in the ass if you're a packrat, but i haven't bothered with outpost building yet so the solution might lie there. the fast travel system is robust as fuck, with you basically being able to fast travel to anywhere from anywhere, as long as you're not overencumbered or in combat. for example, you can fast travel from the bottom floor of an abandoned research facility into orbit around a different planet. i find it actually reduces padding and gets me back into the action quicker, and i love it. alternately, you can warp travel by targeting planets in your cockpit HUD, so you don't have to use menus much. level design is way way better than fallout 4, and you can seemingly talk your way into and out of just about every situation

this game really fucks with your head, huh?
kek this is such a pathetic post. genuinely praying this is pasta.
i didn't see you contributing anything, little morongay bitch
no hes right its straight up pathetic and i also laughed pretty hard. what the fuck did you contribute actually?
>you end up jumping between universes inside the facility, simultaneously exploring the intact and destroyed versions, interacting with staff who are dead or alive depending on which universe you're in, jumping to the intact universe to get through destroyed sections and locked doors, culminating in you reaching the site of the explosion and getting to decide which timeline "survives."
there's a mission like that in dishonored 2.
>chud janny got so assblasted he insta deleted these postslmao
I'm enjoying it, my biggest complaints are how monotonous traversing planets are, and the usual Bethesda jank;
I played the game doing nothing out of the ordinary and suddenly saw I had a bounty of 650 and 1 assault in my crime stats. Andreja also threw a shitfit calling me a literal monster piece of shit when I got back to the ship for something I have absolutely no memory of doing and didn't even get a notification of whenever I did it.
It's dogshit stop asking
It's running on the same engine as Oblivion. Todd is a hack, pirate it if you absolutely MUST play the latest AAA slop.
>It's running on the same engine as Oblivion.
this is a good thing
>do it get it
>DO IT GET IT
>DID YOU GET IT???
>DID YOU
Not when it's an ancient, bug-riddled piece of shit.
i dont think the engine is buggy just that theyve spent all of development time targeting the xbox so im hoping performance will get better over time majority of their previous titles were also pretty messy at launch except maybe fallout 4 but by that time they had a lot of experience in their first iteration of the engine. i think theyve actually improved the engine a lot loading times are literally 1 second also if you look at people spawning a shit tonne of potatoes compared to doing the same in skyrim and oblivion it does not cause a shit tonne of lag like it does in those games. current performance issues is shitty optimization probably in part due to optimizing the game for the xbox, the game has extremely low vram usage which is why i suspect this the xbox only has like 6gb of vram
It's been insanely buggy since I played Bethesda Gamebryo product #2 decades ago, It's still buggy and it always will be buggy. If you think they're going to optimize anything after they got your money, you're kidding yourself and even if it did run perfectly the writing, plot and gameplay still look like skyrimslop or worse. Stop giving your money to AAA studios.
buggy how outside of occasional graphical issues? also i dont give them money i pirate no one deserves my money
The only annoying bug I've encountered is sometimes the game just completely crashes to desktop during a loading screen. It's mostly happened in space when I'm jumping around a lot trying to scan planets in quick succession so I assume it's because I'm not waiting enough time after getting out of a loading screen before going in the next one.
Outside of that, I've experienced some general Bethesda jank but not really any noticeable bugs. Maybe I'm an outlier though? Dunno.
that sounds annoying i haven't had any crashes at all yet and im at 50 hours maybe i just got really lucky though kek
> i only had the room tour at the start not trigger
yeah this is annoying a crimson fleet quest hasn't triggered for me i will look up the console command when i can be bothered though. must be cancer for console players who have no console kek
i'm 40 hours in and never had it crash once. there was one close call where i quick saved and the game froze for a bit but it caught up after a few seconds. definitely a lot of janky shit, but compared to their past game this has been without a doubt the least buggy bethesda game to play at release (for me at least)
the usual quests not triggering and the physics engine shitting itself
i've come off fine compared to other people, i only had the room tour at the start not trigger and sometimes when I enter buildings items will spazz out and fly across the room
Buggy as in characters walking through walls, gibbed characters merely pretending to be dead, picrel and so on and so on. Bethesdashit has been notorious for constant buggy bullshit, but I guess the average gaymer has been conditioned to accept it.
This should have been fixed in QA, but they know retards will hand them cash no matter what so the execs skimp and let you do the beta testing. Shoestring budget indie studios do a better job of making a functioning program.
I enjoyed the Ryujin questline, any other big faction questlines that are any good?
Crimson Fleet is really kino. I fucking love missions on spacestations / giant space ships / derelict space ships and it has all three.
I just finished the UC Vanguard one and it was alright. The later half is a lot better than the start of it.
thanks lads i'll check it out
Crimson Fleet was my favorite, UC was decent, I don't remember what I did for Space Rangers
It's just boring and makes me a little sad because it's just so washed out and generic.
Zoomers think this has good writing. The writing is awful. It's like they hired a bunch of english majors to write this game. They can write eloquently, but they cant write anything interesting
It felt like reading a chat GPT novel. The amount of filler words and just sentences that pad out the conversation is so apparent. If you read dense content you would instantly tell the difference.
If it actually used a form of open source AI it might accidentally have more character or intrigue is the sad part.
not true, paradoxically being generative. there is not enough heterogeneous information in this game. most of it is conversational that could apply to any situation. AI cannot create that convincing homogeneity while weaving in underlying threads that drive a narrative. it ends up forgetting its past conversations and ideas.
the ryujin questline is quite cool it feels very corpo with employees lying to fuck eachother over and sabotage between competitors etc. i wish it was longer though
Spent 34 hours playing it last week, so pretty good for video game. Neon definitely hammered cyberpunk stylistic better than cyberpunk and deus ex, lol
8/10, can't wait to see most of game features in next tes
If not totk, could definitely be goty
>Spent 34 hours playing it last week, so pretty good for video game. Neon definitely hammered cyberpunk stylistic better than cyberpunk and deus ex, lol

Why haven't graphics advanced past 2007 except for minor, incremental improvements?
>get a starchild power Precognition that allows you to read a person's reply for each dialogue option
>stop using it because it made me realize how few options there actually are and the majority of the responses are the same regardless of what dialogue option you pick
Wuh oh
Ah yes, the Telltale Special™
damn what a waste of a power, after five minutes it's obvious conversations only end one way 99% of the time
feels like a fo4 mod
Spaceflight being absolute garbage and mostly replaced with fast travel, in a space exploration RPG is retarded
It has some good moments, combat and combat AI is already fixed by mods, it's the best of any Bethesda game so far, zero G combat is very fun
Graphically it's fairly pretty but very poorly optimised
Writing is very very bland, main quest like in every Bethesda game is pretty bad, but this time side quests range from mildly interesting to very cringe, most fall in the medium of bland and boring
Ship building is very fun albeit with some weird limitations
Overall it seems like a very good base for mods, in a year's time maybe it'll be an excellent space survival sim sandbox with mods, as it stands it's a pretty bland game that has some great high points
>combat and combat AI is already fixed by mods
Got a link to those mods? Tired of getting in firefights with NPCs that get stuck on boxes and running in place
My favorite is when the get under a staircase and start using that as cover.
I combined these and tweaked some of the numbers (2x damage for everyone felt best for me)
https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/1392
https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/817

I've seen this being said as a counterpoint loads of times and it's a really retarded take imo
How exactly is clicking a menu and instantly teleporting (not even any in-game time passes btw) to your destination grounded or realistic in the slightest?
I can understand not having seamless atmospheric entry, a cutscene to enter a planet is understandable in a Bethesda game. But not having atmospheric flight is bad, and not having any real spaceflight in a space game with pilotable and customisable space ships is downright terrible, I never expected elite dangerous levels of sim, but why the fuck can't you fly inbetween planets in a system? You already have gravity bending grav drives, don't tell me it's because of realism, elite dangerous supercruise mode is the most obvious and simple way to do this, load into a full system map and mask it with a fancy fx loading screen. They could've easily masked the atmospheric entry with a loading cutscene but no you just fade to black after clicking a menu and appear outside of your ship.
>How exactly is clicking a menu and instantly teleporting (not even any in-game time passes btw) to your destination grounded or realistic in the slightest?
FTL travel is not realistic in the slightest. Humanity will never leave the Solar System. But if we could, it would likely feel like inputting coordinates into the magic grav drive, pressing a button, and teleporting to the destination.
>You already have gravity bending grav drives
Which move you at the speed of instant teleportation. No flying from planet to planet.
In a realistic universe, spaceflight being 99% fast travel makes perfect logical sense. Space is empty as fuck.
The biggest problem with Starfield is its grounded setting.
yeah i'm not really sure what people who complain about the space flight are expecting. the main problem i have is not being able to pilot yourself in atmosphere/manually land wherever. but once you're in space and going to another planet, what more would you want? some microsoft flight simulator-type game where you just sit still and look at black, empty space for 10 hours?
>i'm not really sure what people who complain about the space flight are expecting
I understand why they have it set up the way they do. They use the loading screen / fast traveling in space as a way to trigger random events. So when you load to a planet, they can roll their procedural generation dice to see if they're going to spawn some random event or whatever.
I would've preferred being able to seamlessly travel between planets in the same system. I'm fine with fast travel after a grav jump when you go system to system. But once you're in a system, I would rather of had a longer loading screen and be able to just fly around from planet to planet. How it is now is primarily just an immersion issue for me because in the back of my mind I know the planets aren't really "there". It's all kind of smoke and mirrors where if I want to get anywhere I have to do it from a menu (i.e. fast travel to a planet or fast travel to the surface). I can forgive manually landing on planets like NMS if they can at least let me fly around in space. But as it is right now, there's no real reason to fly around in space if an event doesn't get triggered when you fast travel in and I think that's kind of a bummer because I want reasons to fly my ship around. But instead I just effectively have a "fast travel machine" instead of an actual space ship if that makes sense.
Do you think it would only take a couple hours or minutes to fly between planets in a solar system in reality? I don’t get this critique.
>reality
It isn't though. It's fiction. There's absolutely no reason in a universe where they have grav jumps that you wouldn't be able to just use a grav drive partially or some shit and just accelerate massively until you are at a destination similar to how NMS does it.
Cartoony kiddie shit "star systems" the size of a city like Outer Wilds
I find if you limit your use of fast travel the traversal feels good enough, keeping planets so far away maintains scale and all you get with say freelancer isn't really all that different with a cutscene of your ship flying through space. I'd be for having to sit on a chair and hit wait, but not only should that be easy enough to mod, it works likely get tedious after enough time
>I find if you limit your use of fast travel the traversal feels good enough
How do you limit your use of fast travel? It's legit the only way to move around space. You can't even travel between planets in the same system without fast traveling to them
why are these 4chantards spamming this thread
get a fucking room fags
the funniest part is one of them has put a word in the wrong form field
did you know you got baited
kek he has fully decoupled from reality. anyway
who are you quoting
>who are you quoting
Newfag. You didnt do it right.
>Outer worlds is way worse than starfield
>Don't try to use the starfield hatewagon to push your shit game
You know I'm not buying it, right Todd?
That money is being saved for Outer Worlds 2, of course!
Maybe Todd will teach obsidian a thing or two and make it good
the people complaining about blacks are probably paid Starfield shills attempting to get you to ignore the countless valid reasons the game is shit. The only people who enjoy this game are 35 year old Bethesda fanboys or people who have terminal redditbrain and that's exactly the kind of person who would buy the game to own the Trumpers.
When do i get the barefoot redhead space dicky from the concept art?
I was promised a barefooted space dicky!
>the Good
>super fun ship building

>the Bad
>hilariously terrible main quest, extremely uninteresting or annoying companions
>early game feels a little empty because of the idea of locking lots of gameplay mechanics to a mid-game skill tree
>hideously ugly generated NPCs that populate every single hub city, they clash hilariously with the fixed-design NPCs that look like normal people
>exploring can be boring when you don't find something neat because there's a lot of emptiness compared to something like an Elder Scrolls or Fallout game where you will always find at least one thing
>super fun ship building
Please explain what this means before I read the rest of your post.
>you're not allowed to have standards
This is why modern AAA is unplayable slop.
You can build your own ship from scratch, here's a really shitty one I made that's temporary until I get the skills and levels needed to unlock the fun stuff, I only have access to low level parts and Class A ship building stuff. You can do all sorts of fun stuff, you can make a ship made entirely out of cargo bays, you can make a big battleship with long corridors. My ship has a passenger module, workshop module and science module along with captain's quarters, 4 cargo bays, 4x particle cannons, 2x auto particle cannons and missiles.
>you can make a ship made entirely out of cargo bays
that's too heavy, your ship will have to be half landing gears just to take off
Yeah, I know, but I can't decide on what to cut so I'm chugging along slowly until I can unlock better reactors.
Don't forget, Ship Designer gives access to much better parts than Class B, i got a class A reactor sitting at 24 power.
Is there any rhyme or reason as to what ship parts are available during ship builder? I noticed that Crimson Fleet technicians had a completely different selection of ship parts than the people at New Atlantis.
Is there somewhere I can go that has all the ship parts available?
>Is there somewhere I can go that has all the ship parts available?
Not that i know of.
Parts depend on where you are, with company stations being the best places with generally more parts(fot that company).
It's logical, space is the best place to build ships.
I guess that's fair.
I also noticed you can build a ship building yard at your outpost so I'm curious what parts are available if I do that. Maybe it depends on the system you build your outpost in.
There's a ship that's basically that, one pice out of two under it are the straight vertical LG
do i unlock new parts just by upgrading the ship building perk or can i also buy them somewhere? i went to the deimos shipyards but could only buy ships
When you talk to a ship technician you have 3 options
>Repair ship (1000)
>View and modify ships
>Buy ships
Choose the second one, press B(iirc) to enter ship building mode. It's pretty clunky at first but you get used to it. A ton of parts are locked behind levels in Piloting and Ship Design.
Your ship has too much components for your shitty reactor.
Thanks anon, while I don’t consider this stuff to be fun, I understand that some people do. It’s mainly the grind that gets to me, and I can already grind materials for my freighter in No Man’s Sky which I will probably never do. I guess the difference here is that you can actually fly the creation, even if it’s in the shallow space flight experience we have in the game today.
No grind for space ships just play the fucking game you'll be loaded with money build your ship once you have around 100k just steal one to use as a base then gut it and build what you want. If you use the ship builder on your outpost it has most of the parts so you don't have to travel to bumble fuck to get the part you want. If you don't want to fuck with the base beyond building a garage just console command in the mats if you don't have them slap it down and forget about it til you need to build a ship again.
Luckily for me I am getting continuously better prices for my sales and purchases so hopefully $100k doesn’t take too long to acquire.
>console command
No thanks, I am a vanilla type of guy. I don’t plan to use console commands or mods in this game for a long time.
Okay anon if no console commands go to Neon or Homestead buy up crafting materials wait buy more when you get to the outpost building. If you just want space port it won't take too much you want a proper base bring tons of shit.
100k will come quick even if you're just selling your hoarded garbage. I have around 500k at the moment and I blow money on whatever like hired everybody throw 20k at the poor npcs etc money is easy to come across if you actually bother with outposts its busted which is why I avoid the trade system and just built a base to store my crap and work on ships/dock my guys who can't fit on ship
Yeah I’m around 7 hours in and still don’t know what those town names are or what an outpost is, will have to find out soon enough.
Neon is drug shit hole you'll get sent there soon enough New Homestead is a place thats on a moon in the sol system I won't straight spoil it since you seem to be enjoying the blind discovery but check moons sometimes they have towns
Damn thanks anon a drug shithole sounds like my type of spot.
Theres an illegal drug there that makes you trip and a side job where you can work in a drug manufacturing plant. The drug is only legal on this planet so if you take it else where you will get space feds on your ass if you don't have smuggling stuff. There's also a penthouse you can buy when you're rich and a cuck shed storage unit you can buy when poor. You can buy access to a VIP future opium den I use the storage unit as a trap house where I just have boxes full of drugs. Pro tip when doing quests in Neon always be loaded you deal with alot of junkies and a hit of dope is a good substitute for a speech check also check the police station from time to time contraband items spawn in there regularly to go with the drug shit hole theme. But listen anon you clearly want to roll a naughty boy so when the UC bald moron shows up tell him to fuck off and join the pirates
>Neon is drug shit hole
>the place of residence you can buy in Neon is literally just a fucking crate that you live in
I just want to get zoned with my fishmonger wife after my shift everyday in my cratehome
It has chud Pronoun shit, so 0/10 automatic NoBuy, fuck off
literally did and said nothing wrong, keep seething about him till the end of time like you do with JK Rowling LMFAO
>Hogwarts legacy sold gangbusters meaning no one actually cares about trannies if they are in the way of something they want
Pottery
>Harry Pottery
ftfy
Didn't they name the character model of the trans character "MrGirl" or something like that?
>literally did and said nothing wrong
If you boil it down its just some guy yelling that a bunch of player choices should be removed from the game because he doesn't like them. Thats fundamentally quite lame however you spin it
It's a 7/10. I think a lot of people came into this game wanting it to be space TES snd it's just not that. Questlines are a step up from TES stuff, but I think the core of the games issues for me are the Skills. While the skills are a huge step up from Skyrim's perk system they're still to safe and boring.
And a personal pet peeve of mine is how Bethesda just won't allow an ounce of provocativeness in a space setting. All clothes are either designed as either make or monogendered, meaning you can't give Sarah or Andreja nice outfits. It's also a huge joke the dancers in the Astal Lounge look like fucking idiots. It's like Bethesda is afraid to give the setting any sort of bite.
Even outside of provocativeness, I just think the general aesthetic of their clothes is bad. It's like they wanted to be similar to Fallout with their futuristic 50's motif and design a lot of the buildings / clothes with that same mentality as if they were trying to emulate what people in the 50's thought the future would be like. New Atlantis is especially guilty of this.
I'm hoping there are some overhaul mods in the future that just replace all clothing on all NPCs. I found it cool that Neon had some different clothing on NPCs than the people walking around New Atlantis but the general aesthetic across the entire game is just kind of bad. I do like the majority of the spacesuits though.
so do you just not play anything made after 2017? even japanese games have started doing the "body type A or B" stuff. legitimately asking
2016 was a test and many are failing it, yes.
Good for you King but know you need either to go for the modding scene or try to make your game King.
>>and side secondary campaigns with a glimmer of hope like the vanguard story are similarly just bad, just nonsensical... "hey you just joined the vanguard literally five minutes ago, but we are going to tell you the UC's deepest darkest secret and have you commit espionage on our behalf, just don't tell anyone, ok"... spongebob has more complex writing
if you haven't done it yet id really recommend the ryujin questline its my favourite part of the game so far and i have like 50 hours
Its complete shit, worse than f4 but somewhat better than f76.
It's just not fun.
>just nonsensical
It's less that and more that the pacing on all the faction quests is just bad. I think most are designed in a way that you're supposed to gradually knock them out over the course of an entire playthrough. If you marathon through any of the faction quest lines, they're going to feel really weird because you effectively go from a meaningless grunt to the best of the best over the course of like 4-5 hours.
I played it twice. It sucks honestly but some things are nice such as shipbuilding, its good fun to design your own ship even tho travel is just a loading screen. Mostly same shit as fallout 4 which beteshda should be ashamed of themselves for lack of innovation however some things are a literal downgrade like theres no fucking gore anymore
just unlocked starship design lvl 4. where can I get some OP ship parts now that I can both utilize class C modules as well as those that require points in starship design
Go to the star stations of the companies themselves, i like the Deimos one.
i spend a good amount of time yesterday just flying out into the wild (east, away from the settled systems) in hopes to finding a secret space station, or outpost that would sell SSS tier gear but I didn't find any of that. That's where I enjoyed Freelancer the most, if you looked for it you could find a special pirate place that sold you the good shit. So it's really just me hopping around the first couple star systems and finding what's best? A shame but I guess it is what it is
There is the pirate station, issue is that they don’t want you there unless you’re apart of the faction and will shoot on site.
>find a really good gun that I like
>end up never finding any ammo for it
Best way to amass ammo? Is my only option just purchasing it from every shop I come across? Can I make ammo at outposts or something?
It's alright but it's very repetitive with the gameplay loop being go to random planet to find artifact then go to temple to get power.
It's Fallout 4 in space.
someone who isn't a shitposter, even tho some would dissagree since i am going to talk negative about it
it's probably the most boring game i've ever laid my hands on. video games are a huge passion of mine, and even at the age of 28, i've played through every era and have experienced tons of incredible gameplay and story.
the only people who would like this kind of game are people who legit have a IQ of 80 or below. thats OKAY. there's nothing wrong with that, it's just how it is. its made for literal idiots of our world, the masses. somehow they find something in the boringness.
>someone who isn't a shitposter
>it's probably the most boring game i've ever laid my hands on
Opinion immediately disregarded. You can't even be honest.
literally am honest, but okay. im glad you know how i think
>literally am honest
You're not. There's not a single chance that Starfield is the most boring game you have ever played, in your entire life.
are you from reddit? you sound like the kind of gay who would be. hyperbole much? when someone says they hate a person, they don't actually HATE that person, but a gay like you would say otherwise and be a bitch in discussions because for some reason you have to be a gay about it all. not even going to say what you want me to say and make you feel like you're right. fuck me i cant stand people like you.
>when someone says they hate a person, they don't actually HATE that person
not the guy you're replying to but this is the dumbest analogy you could have chosen for hyperbole
you seem like him because it's really not and it's a quick analogy. sorry i didn't spend another minute with my amazing reply to give you a better one, gay. jesus christ you starfield gays really are annoying. reddit suits you people real well. you literally didn't have to reply, yet you did, because you just HAD to be a gay. why? lol. incapable of holding it in. these are the kind of people who like this game. not surprised. you act like my coworker who loves the game too, which just makes it better
>you literally didn't have to reply, yet you did
stopped reading here, take your own advice
balding before even 20, literal manchild, has to let others know when he gets praised for his work so others think he's cool and doing great, absolute zero women in his life, also chimes in when it's not even a reply to him because he has to get his gay opinion out with things that annoy him and whine all the time.
too close to home with all of this? i wouldn't be surprised, you already fit half of them
it's very funny that you think writing this shit out makes you look anything except pathetic. please, seethe more, i'll be waiting
>when someone says they hate a person, they don't actually HATE that person,
you sound like the kind of gay that doesn't get when people actually don't like you
Can you fuck any of the girl companions?
You can fuck anyone that you can romance. You don't actually get to see the sex though.
Makes sense. Andreja is literary asking for it.
how long until loverslab lets us see the sex
Here's my long and pointless review that none of you will read
NPCs:
>Only FOUR companions, they are all romanceable. They're also incredibly boring
How do you go from Nick Valentine, Cait, Curie, and Paladin Danse to the "I FUCKING LOVE SCIENCE!!!!" squad with about a crumb of personality between them
>Generic ugly fill in NPCs that tank the framerate and offer absolutely no purpose except to pretend the city is "alive"
There was honestly no need for this, all they do is get in the way and obstruct the already bad AI pathing
>A worse character creation than Fallout 4
How does Bethesda CONSISTENTLY manage to jump two steps back with everything they do
>NPCs will swap back and forth between voice actors
you'll hear a gruff English man one second then a soft spoken American the next
>All named NPCs are ESSENTIAL
Sorry, did you want to be a bad guy? Too bad buddy!
Gameplay:
>Fallout 4 gun combat with space elements
So you'll either like it or hate it
>Melee: May aswell not exist
Complete fucking garbage, melee is an after thought. Can't be used in any decent application where a gun is just better
>Stealth: Every hostile NPC has 20 20 vision and can hear the drop of a pin
The AI is incredibly perceptive, able to hear through walls and floors. If you kill a person with a suppressed weapon the entire compound of 50 people will know about it.
>Guns: The only fucking good thing they did
Someone must've hit them over the head because they actually added firearms to their games. The classic Model 1897, the M1911, and a bunch of other guns that actually LOOK like guns. Though some are still questionable.
>Space Combat: Who cares
It's dogfighting. Either you kill them or they kill you. Either you have the shit that makes you win or you die. It's bland as fuck.
Everything else:
>Outpost building
>House building
>Decorating
I don't give a shit about these, they're the same from the previous games.
tl;dr the game is shit
I agree but somehow I can't stop playing. I pushed myself to continue the story finally because I just fucked around doing whatever. I just learned that there's space magic that's how early on in the story I still am. I think I got my money's worth out of the game, but it's truly a shallow game as expected from Bethesda at this point
I just found a cute NPC and copied their face to use as a base. I think it was some random lady on the Den space station.
>Only FOUR companions
Not true
>Generic ugly fill in NPCs that tank the framerate and offer absolutely no purpose except to pretend the city is "alive"
You can lower the npc density in the options
>A worse character creation than Fallout 4
I think it looks decent for Bethesda, it definitely looks better than Fallout 4 but you're right in that the sculpting tools aren't quite as fleshed out as FO4
>NPCs will swap back and forth between voice actors
I've never noticed this but it's possible knowing Bethesda
>Fallout 4 gun combat with space elements
I agree, it's pretty much just FO4
>Melee: May aswell not exist
knife to a gun fight
>Stealth: Every hostile NPC has 20 20 vision and can hear the drop of a pin
Upgrade your stealth skill and take off your spacesuit
CBA for the rest
Yes I'm aware of taking off your spacesuit and having high level skills. NPCs are still very perceptive. Seriously a shame they added vents but didn't bother having destructible lights or being able to knock out the lighting systems or power.
Also I forgot the two other companions from the factions and Vasco I guess.
What the fuck do you mean bro
Someone actually told me you can knock out lights and are supposed to do that for some of the ryujin missions, egg on my face because that would have made things ten times easier
Yeah it's only for that specific mission. That shit never shows up again. Ryujin questline made me appreciate non-lethals and Manipulation.
that's a nice outer worlds mod, where can I get it?
Ask Todd Howard
>Every hostile NPC has 20 20 vision and can hear the drop of a pin
I thought that was honest mistake on your part, because I myself was really surprised that unlike past bethseda games and dishonored, you don't just press "sneak" button, but also need to move slowly like in souls games
>If you kill a person with a suppressed weapon the entire compound of 50 people will know about it.
But this is just a straight up lie
Your equipment also matters for stealth, they actually fixed it in comparison to previous games where it was literally braindead
> you don't just press "sneak" button, but also need to move slowly like in souls games
It was like this in Skyrim and fallout 4 aswell
>On the Crimson Fleet Luxury Liner quest
>Some bullshit about sensors knowing when a gun is fired so no killing
>Game puts a sword in another NPCs room
>Aha, clever
>One shot kill the target with the sword when he is locked inside his room
>Every single guard in the hallways becomes hostile
Bravo bethesda
Half of your post is just outright wrong. I doubt you even played it, you probably watched your favorite streamer play it or something.
>Only FOUR companions
i thought you could have any crew member follow you
>Only FOUR companions, they are all romanceable
I know Lin, Heller, the robot, and the oblivion fan can all be followers, maybe others. they aren't romance-able though
>Generic ugly fill in NPCs that tank the framerate and offer absolutely no purpose except to pretend the city is "alive"
>There was honestly no need for this
Insane to suggest the cities wouldn't feel weird if they removed all generic npcs. I've had no framerate issues, but agree they definitely need to fix whatever algorithm produces these ugly monster faces
>A worse character creation than Fallout 4
It's not great but I play first person. Even if you don't, I don't get the autism needed to spend 4 hours making a character when, at best, you'll be looking at the back of their space helmet for most of the game
>NPCs will swap back and forth between voice actors
never noticed this but wouldn't surprise me
>All named NPCs are ESSENTIAL
maybe my biggest annoyance with this game, extremely retarded decision but hopefully something a mod can fix easily
>Stealth: Every hostile NPC has 20 20 vision and can hear the drop of a pin
way easier when you get level 2 or 3 of the stealth skill. i'm fine with stealth being something you actually have to specialize in compared to past bethesda games where any character can be a cat burglar at level 1
>they definitely need to fix whatever algorithm produces these ugly monster faces
It's weird because the engine can create attractive characters. I've come across a few cute named characters. But the random "Citizen" NPCs seem to have like 5-6 faces they rotate through so most of them are the super wrinkly old asian or the one or two black sameface you see everywhere.
i think in addition to whatever algorithm they use, the generic faces are just intentionally lower quality models to save resources and that's a big part of them looking so off. really if they just fixed the bulging eyes look they all have, that would go a long way to making it less distracting
In a year or two I assume similar to Skyrim there will be a "beautiful faces" mod for all generic NPCs so I'm looking forward to that.
But yeah I agree that a lot of the NPCs look like they have fucking proptosis or some shit compounded with the fact they reduce resources used so they don't shade the faces as well as they could so they end up with this really weirdly flat alien look most of the time.
Theres already one for the eyes and I was joking with my gf that everyone saying Sarah is great just installed that and the nude mod. She knows how much I fucking hate constellation from hovering over my shoulder waiting for me to stop playing Todd Howards latest lies and fuck her. I showed her Sarah's pissy face and she was just like yea that girl is a pissy old hag what a bitch. God fuck Sarah and fuck Sam and his cuck kid and fuck EGS for changing it from the concept art
You can recruit quite a lot of people for outposts and your ship. I mainly just counted Barrett, Sarah, Sam and Andreja since they DO have affinities and questlines. There's also two faction specific members you can recruit once you've done their questlines. So while you can get some followers, I only counted those four since they're the ones that the game puts on display.
There's also an actual murderbot version of Vasco named Kaiser but you can't bring him along. Shame.
I'm fine with stealth being harder, but I've offed a dude that was hidden away with no one around that alerted a compound of people and melee attacking the air also seems to generated a huge amount of noise. Attempting to level up Concealment the 'normal' way was a nightmare.
I thought the pistol gunplay was good but i refunded it as it was crashing too frequently on my machine to be playable.
Id reccomend against it just because it crashes on my PC.
Has anyone else done the Crimson Fleet quest line yet?
You basically persuade your way into extremely high security areas, take whatever you want and walk away with zero repercussions, for the ENTIRE quest line. Idk which is my favorite yet.
Just walk into the executive office of the energy company that essentially built the city of Neon, chat up the secretary and he gives you the access code to the CEO's safe which is full of blackmail. The guard doesn't care if you come weapon drawn and walk right into her office, grab what you need and walk out.
The one where you gotta break into the cruise ship to steal an access code and there's a side quest to steal a trophy. The way you get the access card to the safe is by out-woman speaking the woman holding the card, which consists of saying a bunch of generic persuasions until you annoy her I guess. Oh and you disable the life support on the ship, set off all the alarms and everyone has to go back to their rooms except you who just showed up in the loading bay 10 minutes ago.
Where you just steal a whole fucking prototype ship from a UC black site just by boarding a freighter and walking around the security checkpoint through a completely unsecured vent with a door on it big enough to drive a forklift though. Sure there's a few more checkpoints around but whatever you need to get past them is always right around the corner. Even if you forget the access code just try all 6 options until you guess the right one. Then you convince Doc that youre the test pilot he requested 5 minutes ago and no one ever questions anything you do again. Hop in the prototype ship and warp directly to the pirates and hand it over
Oh and that freighter ship you flew in on? While youre waiting to dock turn around and open the captains locker theres 20k or so credits and a few other useful items just sitting there unlocked and not marked for thievery
I honestly have no idea how todd play tested this trash and thought "yeah that's good, ship it"
I really liked the Hitman style disguises you could use during the UC spacestation quest for that and I wish that was more prevalent during the game. Swapping from ensign to scientist to pilot to be able to access different areas was really cool. And it makes me wonder why the fuck that isn't anywhere else in the game. I just found a UCSEC cop outfit but it's not like it allows me to access random UCSEC areas in New Atlantis.
It was all optional, not to mention stupid as fuck. I don't think there was a way to fail
You can just shoot your way through no shit its a Bethesda game what do you want a game over screen when you get caught in a stealth mission its a role playing game thats part of the role playing you get spotted cause your a lumbering la creatura you go loud and everyone calls you a dip shit after or you do it the cool stealth way and NPC give praise for not being a fucking monkey. Plus it makes slaughtering the UC more satisfying at the last mission
You can “fail” every sneak mission in the game, there’s just multiple ways to do the missions
it's literally shoot your way through, or persuade. Shooting isn't supposed to be a good option cause you're undercover UC, and persuade options are goddamn stupid. Maybe you can pickpocket your way through an optional objective but that's hardly any better.
You didn't read my post at all did you? The writing there was complete trash.
>you’re undercover UC
You don’t have to be, thus shooting is a good option because fuck the UC
Also stealth missions at least from what I’ve seen has optional ways of beating them that aren’t noted as objectives
Yeah I'd love to do a pirate playthrough, but the fucking game pulled me out of a main quest to drop this bullshit on me. Decided to roll with it but racking up a huge bounty would make finishing the main quest hard
go back fag
I know thats just your way of saying you love Todd's game anon. Its okay your secrets safe I won't tell the higher ups in the chess club in fact it'll be our little "lie" if you will. Sometimes you have to lie to yourself and say just one more step to climb a mountain. Sometimes to make a great game like Starfield and sometimes just sometimes you have to lie to make a great post like (you)
This post is a bit confusing. But on certain things like the life support, the guy you’re working with has enough pull with the trident staff that they don’t fuck with you on the ship, it’s one of the first things the game tells you and you don’t actually disable life support
I actually had a lot of fun doing the UC sneak mission and at some point I decided to kill a guard that looked at me funny
I hit the max character limit and trimmed formatting.
Yeah I know the captain gets you in but it only comes up twice maybe and the guards are all telling you to go back to your room. I'm in the mantis suit and the Russian chick and I are running around stealing everything that isn't nailed down causing a lockdown by fiddling with the life support sensors. It isn't a sneak quest by any means.
>finish the fleet quest(or just stay until you have to meet delgado)
>pirates are always friendly, so you can explore outpost with them in it and not kill anyone(because making different pirate faction is too hard)
>this also breaks the bounty hunting missions, when you go to the location with the pirate in it he'll act friendly
>crimsonfleet mission board is useless because anything you do piracy-based will build up a massive bounty on your head(unless you hail the ship and pick the [piracy] option, where the target ship will open up the cargo for you if it's alone)
>boarding non pirate ships alway starts you as "Neutral" and only gives you a warning about trespassing
last UC ship i boarded after breaking it down no one bothered to shoot me for stealing shit in front of other people, i even went in the captain cockpit to get stuff from the cargo
After i shot a random crewmember they started to shoot me
Fucking embarrassing
They literally do have a different pirate faction, that’s what the spacers are supposed to be.
Meanwhile I love shit like joining a faction making normal enemies become allies, liked that shit in new Vegas with the powder gangers
do you even get bounties for other factions? On cydonia i keep getting crimson fleet one
shame i couldn't put a bullet in mathis skull myself
the moron talk shit nonstop and then piss his pants when you tell him that you'll rat him out
Some guy i saw has a ecliptic bounty but I don’t fucking understand how that happened, guess that might mean they intended on them to be more than just enemy mercs at one point
Fleet Chad's make UC and CIVILIAN shit in their pants. Many such cases not an actual flaw.
Yes it is also my favorite quest line so far. I was recommending it to anons during early access. Glad to see you didn't get buck broken by the UC anon. BTW you're gonna need a good ship for the last mission or build the cheese ship with no center mass the final fight is tough you'll have a level 100 ship shooting at you into of a ton of level 6-30 ships and they all will target you. Goddamnit though it was satisfying. BTW you better not have rated on Mathis cucked yourself out of the best bro arc if you did
So many aspects of the quest feel weird once you think about them for a fraction of a second
>Degaldo says you're with the Crimson Fleet for life
>Rokov was kicked out of the Crimson Fleet
Okay that could be just Delgado's bluster
>Rokov, the captain of a luxury cruiseliner, wants to be a space pirate again
Maybe this is explained in further insipid dialogue but whatever
>Need access number for the safe on board the ship for the optional objective
>can't hack the number, can't acquire it through theft, you HAVE to talk to the lady
In the end she just gave it to me because 'I was going to steal it anyway.' Didn't call for help, didn't alert security once I left
For the blacksite mission I just scooted through the entire thing in the Ensign uniform, I had to pass ONE persuasion check. Also why the fuck is a regular freighter delivering cargo to a military research station. It's like fucking Fedex delivering to Area 51
Also the only reason you report directly back to the UC in person is because there's no fucking comm system.
>Also the only reason you report directly back to the UC in person is because there's no fucking comm system.
I'm not sure about the details but there isn't faster than light communication in the world. Only ships can warp jump or something.
Finally someone who gets it, it's not believable at all. When you steal the comspike you go and talk to the Doc developing the thing. Ask him for information on it and it's obvious he knows you have no clue what you're talking about, then in the next 3 sentences you convince him you're the fucking test pilot and he just hands you the goddamn keys.
It was pretty obvious that the thing was a ship but it didn't give you the dialogue option to run with it.
Not to mention being 3 layers deep into a secure facility and having unrestricted com access to a freight ship docked in the cargo bay.
And warping back and forth to the UC ship from the key is completely nuts imo. If they're so worried about traitors the very first thing I would do for my new recruits is stick a fucking tracker on their ship and see where it goes.
I'm doing a good guy run but don't have any stealth so when I went into that lab on Neon I got spotted and the security gueards started shooting. Ok fair game they shoot me I'll shoot back, but all the scientist that run around the whole place panicking are marked as enemies so Andreja constantly kept executing those poor researchers that were cowering all over the place even though they weren't attacking. Pretty brutal of her.
I got scolded for killing people after that quest so maybe I could have stolen an outfit and just walked through like in the previous quest?
Same happened to me. And I sprinted through the whole maze without shooting anyone myself
113 minutes played, refunded. Might consider again after I see some good mods.
The worst thing about the GTA/witcher/cyberpunk/yakuza style mass NPCs in the cities is that they didn't do the bare minimum to give them umbrellas or rain ponchos for when it's raining. If they cut down on their AI system to increase NPC count for the sake of immersion, they did a really bad job since it boomerangs back to becoming unimmersive because how they don't react to the world.
Main story and romance options are garbage
There are some fun faction quests and side quests
The companions you get in bars are infinitely better than the main ones its bullshit they don't have a quest and romance. I really would have liked a quest for Caviar whos basically the guy from windy city heat.
If you have enjoyed past Bethesda titles you'll like this one its basically fallout 3 with a bit of daggerfall in space with the good parts of fallout 4 like the characters saying your name or the base building not being annoying and shoved in your face.
If you want good mods wait a few months pick it up on the Christmas sale if you want to be a part of shit posting about Todd's game with first hand knowledge to craft your shit posts about Sam's cuck moron child who was red headed and white in the art book or if you want to share fun stories like encountering an Indian scammer
?si=w_SGt3KZeArArXen
The game has its moments for sure it just sucks that the main quest line is so fucking awful especially when there are actual fun characters like Matthis Caviar etc and there are more appealing women like that Ukrainian bitch who hates glowies but the game just doesn't do anything with them. Lack of dismemberment and gore sucks too i have no clue why they removed it. The robot building mechanic from fallout 4 should have been in the starfield base game theres even a robotics skill but it just makes you kill robots better. I bet money it'll be some fucking dlc cause Bethesda invented horse armor
>tidr its Bethesda best game since skyrim take that as you will its not the most advanced thing it uses a 20 year old engine but it has its moments if you need a game to play pick it up or rent on gamepass if not wait for the winter sales there will be more mods then personally I have had fun with it but at the same time I want to kill every member of constellation
Hoping there is a mod that swaps Vasco for Kaiser because I fucking love the way Kaiser talks. It's a little different from other robots and he has this weird drawn out sight at the end of everything he says.
>drawn out sigh*
I love it for these reasons
>nice variety of weapons
>actual shooting is a step up from FO4 which was already decent
>much improved quest dialogue / roleplay options
>I enjoy base building and linking outposts (not for everyone)
>graphics are also a step up for Bethesda, facial animations look mostly nice despite the rampant shitposting
>leveling up actually matters and takes some time if you aren't exploiting / cheating
>I enjoy slowly unlocking upgrades and retooling my weapons
>The powers are wicked fun and have nice variety, step up from shouts / other similar things
I don't like
>lots of load times
>some performance issues crop up after long play time though I hope NG+ will remedy it since it's kind of a reset
>Only four main followers, though they are all great
>crime system is barebones even if fun
>Enemies could be more threatening though on very hard they'll still wreck ya if they have a decent weapon
For reference been playing a ton and am at like 55ish hours at level 32, probably 6-8 hours just on outpost stuff
Basically if you like Bethesda games since Fallout 3 you'll enjoy it.
And with that I'm out, these threads are trash.
It's Fallout 4 but with more inane bullshit
>gunplay is markedly better but not really anything on the realm of good
>ship fights are neat but ultimately just a slugfest rather than Star Fox or Ace Combat in space or something
>even actually important planets demand you walk a fucking mile just to get anywhere interesting, and that's planet segments with miles of nothing(this is genuinely the worst part)
>map menu is fucking terrible(manually jumping between star systems makes me want to die) and unintuitive but at least it's easy to fast travel between adjacent spots by just pointing in-game with the scanner or by locking onto it in space
>some encounters are glitched so some side quests have stalled until Bethesda fixes it
>building ships is cool
If you like the Todd genre you'll probably like it, if you approach it in mind that it's a space RPG, not a pure space sim.
>get in a dogfight with the crimson fleet in space
>disable the ship
>dock it
>go on board
>kill the first person I see
>companion treats it as murder and stops being my companion
what the fuck? is this a bug or something? why were they okay with me blowing up the other two ships but have an issue when I dock one and kill them with my gun? is it just viewing this as piracy so the companion think it's bad or something?
> using companions
Found your issue.
Yeah that's kind of how I feel. Once I hit NG+ I will pretty much abandon companions as a whole. I just had to go through a stealth mission for Crimson Fleet where the companion would path outside the vent I was trying to sneak through and aggro entire rooms. I had to quickload like 15 times before my companion finally didn't act like a fucking retard.
If you didn't piss of Mathis during the quest line you get him as a companion at the end and he doesn't give a fuck. Hell shoot them kids. He'll hit Sarah he don't give a fuck. I dressed him up in a dress shirt and a turban and now he looks Indian instead of Irish lmao
?si=Yn9UD50gjFLFEK8T
Its pretty good. 7-8/10.
I hate that a 7 or an 8 on this site is treated like it's irredeemable garbage that should be banished into the eternal pits of hell for all eternity or something.
The game is fun, I'll play it for a bit and get my enjoyment out of it, and then move onto another game. I don't understand this mentality that if a game isn't a genre defining masterpiece then it shouldn't exist.
It’s a children mentality
Starfield was doomed to this discourse the second it became an Xbox exclusive.
I guess that makes sense as it's prime console war bait.
I just keep seeing this weird affixation to treat Ganker like a discord server. Hating a game or loving a game becomes their entire personality for the few months that online discourse is at it's peak so they make it their entire mission to create threads focused on those aspects
>new video was posted hating "Popular Game" / loving "Popular Game"!
>new tweet was posted hating "Popular Game" / loving "Popular Game"!
>new sales figures was posted supporting / not supporting "Popular Game"!
>new review score was posted supporting / not supporting "Popular Game"!
In the few discords I've been invited to by friends, this is the primary shit people spend all their time posting because they make it their personality to either hate or support a particular video game. I will never understand this mentality because I've always just played a game, talked about it a little bit online, and then moved onto the next game. But now you have people that are more interesting in the shitposting surrounding a game than they are actually playing the fucking video game. It's such a bizarre mentality to me and it seems to be the predominant one on this board now. It's like we went from calling console warriors retards to being completely infested with people that make it their entire personality to either shit on or shill for whatever recent game is popular at the time.
After a certain point you must accept that most of Ganker is actual shilling or people who hate video games more than life itself. If you want to talk video games make an off topic thread on another board it is common knowledge Ganker boards are the worst as their board subject and really good at another boards. I think this is because people are interested by things they know little about or are obsessed to the point that they need a dedicated hobby forum so boards are filled with a mix of jaded over stimulated people who are frankly sick of video games and are burned by many wasted hours bad games etc then there's people who know Jack shit but are interested in a hobby so they have terrible uninformed opinions which makes the power users more aggressive and righteous eventually the new user becomes the over stimulated user of leaves the forum.
I've been here a long time you're here forever gay
i haven't played it but how can you not tell that absolutely everything is exactly like fallout 4 at best with the one exception of space combat which looks braindead
playing starfield feels like accidentally sitting on your balls
I feel like I'm going schizo with people defending this boring ass game, it's frankly insane to me
>defending
Why do you retards always think because someone can derive enjoyment from a game that is somehow the same as them going online and defending a product. I don't fucking work for Bethesda, I don't give a shit whether the game is well received or not. I don't give a shit whether other people like the game or not.
I like aspects of the game.
I don't like other aspects of the game.
I'm playing through it and when I'm done, I won't really think about it again until a few years down the line when more mods come out and I play through it again.
Insane that THE Todd Howard does it again?
That the man who sold skyrim 8 fucking times and you still bought it can't sell a new pile of shit?
What is shocking here Todd does it again and its wonderful
I find it hard to believe this is the first time you've encountered people who like a game you personally dislike, maybe lurk moar?
>it's boring to me, so that means that it's impossible for anyone else to enjoy it
Are you 12 years old, or do you just have an IQ of 75?
i think it would be cooler if there was a mech builder, something you could climb into and use to travel around planets quicker.
the limiting factor would be you cannot use your own guns while in it, but the plus sides would be the scanner would always be on (maybe a perk could make it auto-scan what's around you), it would have its own cutter tool built-in, and you could grab resources from slightly further away (end-game perk to make it autonomous when you're not using it)
No robo building is horseshit and todd cut it to sell as dlc its one of my biggest complaints
Not having a ground vehicle is probably my biggest complain about this game. Random points of interest usually being between 700-1000 meters between each other gets really tiresome when your only form of transportation is your boostpack. Just give me an all terrain vehicle I can deploy from my spaceship or some shit so I can drive around. 99% of planets are primarily flat tiles anyway so I don't understand the purpose to not have this as it's not like the vehicle would get stuck on anything.
It makes me just not want to explore when you're basically just running for 4-5 minutes with nothing to do between points of interest outside of scanning or farming materials you may not even need anymore depending on how involved you are with outposts.
It's good. Basically your typical Bethesda game but with much deeper side quest lines.
>girlboss1 says go talk to girlboss2 about thing
>go talk to girlboss 2
>girlboss 2 comments on something

Peek into the StarField subreddit and everyone is having a blast talking about crazy shit they've done, cool screenshots and funny stories. Videos of funny zero G combat ragdolls, a dude raining fire on a POI with a shotgun mod, tons of interesting ship designs. Come back to Ganker and nothing but shit being thrown at the game, if you like it you're an Indian shill. You guys can't enjoy anything can you? Either that or you're all so zoomer brainrotted if it isn't coomer gatcha or weeb shit it shouldn't be discussed at all. StarField has been a comfy as fuck bethesda game as always. Doesn't dethrone Skyrim, definitely doesn't come close to Morrowind, but we needed a new game and this fits for now until Elder Scrolls 6
>StarField
The F isn’t supposed to be capitalized anon. Are you subliminally telling us to pay respects to a dead game?
Because that's how reddit works you retard
All the posts that save face are all upvoted whilst criticisms are ignored
Unironically go back
yeah, real fun time for all lmao
works great on my machine with my 4080. Literally don't care, I will keep playing
>engine can make attractive females
>all the hairstyles are complete dogshit
I assume before we get any meaningful hairstyle changes we'll have to wait for the CK?
not great
worst bethesda game
even after fallout76
runs like shit on purpose
has almost no fiction in science fiction
boring enemies
boring dumb wildlife
quests are meh
ui is horrible
you need like 5-10 mods to even have remotely fun in the game
failout76 is legitimately more fun to just run around being a retard and shooting stuff in than this.
yep it is
>has almost no fiction in science fiction
so you haven't played it at all then
>b-but it has this alien!!!
wow cool where is the planet with aliens enslaving humans?
where are the female aliens killing all men, reacting to a male player character
where are the aliens that do experiments on others
etc. etc.
Which mods you running im curious
He's not even played the game, it's just something people say to sound like they're criticizing the game from experience

im
so confused right now
i've got a 3070 and other than an occasional filter that gets put on shit so i can barely see anything, i've had no performance issues or major frame dips
First, the shitty performance is not a meme. Constant stuttering and low FPS, mods are required to make it playable, and even then it struggles on my 6900 XTX.
Aside from that, the story and characters you're forced to interact with for the Constellation missions (main quest) are all guttertrash. Especially the [Persuasion] options are disconnected from the conversations and sound like you're hypnotizing them, and all of your dialogue options range from "hecking science-loving geekoid" to "unapologetic NASA-fart huffing nerdball with only reverence and respect for all things SPAAAACE!" neither of which make sense if you're trying to play a so-called pirate or scoundrel.
Background NPCs you occasionally meet all have dementia. For example, I've run into this curry geologist lady 6 times and she always calls me a stranger, always has to wait for her grav drive to spin up, and always has one joke about a music store and rock. It at least makes sense for Grandma to forget, but there's no option to remind her that you've met 4 other times prior. The game just assumes you'll only meet her once before you go into NG+ or quit from boredom.
The only good part is the side quests. Lopez was great, and the GalBank loan shark missions and some of the misc vendor quests you get were good and memorable, but when they're done, they're done and sometimes the props and NPCs linger in uncanny states like they aren't cleaned up properly after their performance (and you weren't supposed to come back or notice).
It's just bad overall. The only good, enjoyable thing has this aftertaste of carelessness, and with all the mandatory cringy writing, subpar gunplay, grindy leveling, and shitty performance it's just not fun at all.
Nevermind the ugly morons everywhere, you can fix that with mods. You CAN'T fix the companion dialogue, main quest writing, the abysmal performance or the endless pile of fucking bugs.
tl;dr Not worth it, don't even bother pirating.
>You CAN'T fix the companion dialogue
Not yet at least. Skyrim already has AI generated dialogue you can mod onto followers. No reason why that wouldn't exist with this either. You can pretty much take any actress and generate any dialogue you want them to say so it should be fairly easy to mod in once the tools are released.

UPGRADE YOUR GOD DAMN SHIP
I'm going to fuck Andreja.
If you like space games, it's fun.
It's your standard Bethesda kino but in space.
And by "standard" I mean loading screens, lame dialogue, jank, etc. Some people are in complete histrionics over that, but this formula has satisfied me since Oblivion and it continues to satisfy me. It's comfy AF. The ambience is great, like Skyrim. They incorporated some Morrowind features like eliminating city maps, which forces you to learn the layout of the city and pay attention to shop signs. I think it adds immersion.
Do not expect to go flying off to random planets and have much to do, unlike TES or Fallout where you can just wander into the woods and find a quest. The procedurally-generated planets are barren as hell, but that's realistic. Those planets are there to look pretty and be photo-mode fuel while you farm for minerals or whatever. The formula works if you treat it that way. Also you have to grav-jump between solar systems, which is also realistic because solar systems are *lightyears* apart from each other. This angers some people for some reason. People are also angry that you can't manually land your ship on a planet. I don't think that justifies the poorer reviews.
I unironically give it a 9/10. The UI and dialogue could be tightened up, for sure.
>Do not expect to go flying off to random planets and have much to do, unlike TES or Fallout where you can just wander into the woods and find a ques
they balance this out by giving you a million quests when walking down the street and overhearing people. mostly junk one-off quests i assume but still never had a lack of potential quests in my log
The Bethesda jank is just a lot more jarring after coming off Baldur's Gate 3. Character movement during dialogue in that game juxtaposed against the extremely robotic Bethesda "lock on and have the NPC turn their head and only move their mouth" is rough. It just was a lot more noticeable this time around because it feels like they effectively haven't improved at all engine-wise on how they handle dialogue in roughly 20 years.
just play it for yourself retard. it's literally a nothing game. there's nothing fun about it you're just fast travelling around running errands for people that aren't even interesting
I like it. It took a while to grow on me but now I'm looking forward to playing every day.
Pros:
Exploring is fun so far. It takes a lot of time, and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with all the resources except cart them back to my home until I find a use, but I'm finding better and better stuff and I enjoy finding ways to use the random mods the new weapons come with.
The constellation woman has awesome VO, feels good.
Boarding is great fun, and shipbuilding is an awesome feature.
Looting everything is always more fun than only getting a few random rares in loot.
Cons:
Game is slow to get started. The research is unclear on benefit.
Menus are slow and suck ass. I'm guessing they're built for Xbox. Rather unintuitive and unnecessarily adds layers to doing simple stuff like checking map or travelling.
Because of the sucky UI/UX, game feels sterile and unresponsive in some ways, and running around town doing chores and selling stuff doesn't feel great as a result.
All in all, I'd say it's a 7 or 8/10. Exploring the world has so far been much more fun than following the story missions.
its fallout 4 but in space
are there security systems inside ships that attack you if you board ships?
like laser turrets, gas canisters, laser walls, locked doors, traps?, etc?
On random ships? I haven't encountered any.
On some side quest ships / space stations? Absolutely.
>On random ships? I haven't encountered any.
well that sucks. hopefully mods will add that.
The main issue I have is outside of some random encounters (zero grav Casino, space stations, etc.) there aren't really any big ships that I've been able to board. All the larger ships I've boarded have been a part of side quests.
I hope mods can add more variation in the ship sizes you encounter because right now space piracy seems kind of limited in the sense where you're going to board a bunch of tinier ships, loot their cargo bay / captain's safe, and then leave over and over again. I want more huge ships to board.
My biggest complaint is I can't space anyone. Give me a game with airlocks but never allow me to board a ship and force someone out of an airlock? That's fucked up, Todd.
From what I've seen, boarding ships is too easy, the human enemies are dump and slow.
security systems could make it a lot harder.
I beat it last night, legit had fun playing it and I actually realy enjoyed the main quest. The mixture of science and religion to recreate a sort of Noah's arc was beautiful in a way.
>honest review
its boring and bland but i dont hate it, i simply play something better.
great game if you've never played one before.. https://youtu.be/5zDjSrZ9Fsc
let me guess, that's not a biological female is it?
It's good and the first Bethesda game I bothered finishing due to NG+. I will probably end up making new characters too. It has the usual bugs that any Bethesda game has had to start which have done nothing but make me laugh. Users already found serious issues in it's DX12 implementation and are currently embarrassing Bethesda so hopefully it will help performance with a patch in time.
>Pros
It's fun, beautiful and is both old and new friendly with a massive sandbox. It will have plenty of DLC and mods for years to come.
>Cons
It's a sandbox and kids these days need to be told how to have fun, it will take months to years for the salt mines to stop being at full capacity. It's at it's core a Bethesda game and is making no leaps and bounds for mechanics. It's a Bethesda game in a different universe and setting.
>Conclusion
Stay mad I'll have 3 funs for every one you dont.
>are currently embarrassing Bethesda so hopefully it will help performance with a patch in time
Since when do game developers give a shit about this, especially Bethesda? There was similar jank in both Fallout and the majority of the Elder Scrolls games yet they never fixed those. It was primarily all resolved by modders.
There isn't any humility in this space because companies don't care, they got people's money already.
Because it's a big name in the space that found it and it effects players on older hardware especially. New IP is a lot more likely to get love especially when gaming media wants something to farm drama off of. Hopefully they learned their lesson from Skyrim SE.
>older hardware especially
When you have Todd Howard himself going on mass media news outlets and telling people to simply "upgrade their PCs", I don't think you should put that much faith into them caring all that much about older hardware unfortunately.
I blame unified RAM in consoles more than I blame him at this point. He's not wrong either I had built a new system after 10 years on a 2600K knowing that demands were going to get worse before LLM's end up replacing most diversity hires in studios.
Time to upgrade 🙂
Been playing for a while now and is this really the experience
>Get mission
>press L
>press R
>hold X to travel to planet
>go into planet map
>chose landing zone
>kill enemies
>press L
>press R
>hold X to travel
It's a space game that somehow has less travel than any of their previous titles? I don't understand, what is the point of playing this game? Everything is so streamlined that all you're doing is fast traveling to everything.
I fucking hate Ship parts that get hidden in your inventory.
Give me a mod that recategorizes them as a resource instead of as Aid. I hate this as well.
Heavy ass pieces of junk
Oh is that where they go? I guess that makes sense.
Yeah I guess the thought process is that they're medpacks for your ship. Like all Bethesda games I constantly have to fight the urge to just console command infinite carrying weight for myself but at least in this game they give you enough QOL options where I haven't felt the need yet.
Being able to remotely store stuff in your ship as long as you're close enough to it as well as using a companion as a packrat has worked so far for me at 70 hours into the game.
One of my first powers was the infinite oxygen for a few seconds so I just spammed that the entire game.
if you want all of that, you came to the wrong website kek
>if you want all of that, you came to the wrong website kek
Well actually people that browsed this website before GG and especially 2016 and 4chan have entirely different expectations on video game discourse.
This board and Ganker in general used to be fun and not just about screeching about black people and trannies.
Did you enjoy Fallout 4?
The answer to this will be the same with Starfield.
that's an insult to Fallout 4, at least that game has seamless travel, better writing/story and better looking npcs
