Fallout in general is extremely creative. A future where the 50’s never ended, that ended in a nuclear holocaust. Bethesda bought Fallout because they loved it, and they did put that same kind of care into 3.
Starfield is stylistically and thematically bland in comparison. They should have went Space Fantasy and not science fiction. It would have allowed it to stand out and could have competed with Star Wars.
you mean catonish but is ok is fallout stly who agree with the humor.
starfield style is realistic, how must be the space exploration.
the style is not in funny things but in the contest behind it.
Ngl, this planet looks comfy. Problem is it's generated from seed and there's literally nothing on it. What am I supposed to do there? Run in a straight line and jump with my jetpack? Make cool screenshots of empty planets? Is that it?

>ITS NOT LITERALLY EVERY WHACKY SCI-FI TROPE UNDER THE SUN COMBINED WHERE ARE MY BRIGHT PINK PLANETS WITH TECHNICOLOR ATMOSPHERE AND THE SPORE GOOGLY EYES REEEEEEEE ITS SO SHIT
I hate gamers who hate space.
They'll jack off their 10,000th Tolkien clone as some genius second coming rebirth of the fantasy industry and then shit over a sci-fi game taking inspiration from so many different facets of the real world.
Insane to me
This. Seriously. Starfield is a mature game for mature gamers. Yeah, you know what? Often times real life is kinda boring. You have chores and then you have downtime, and sometimes you have beautiful skies to look at between your chores. THAT is the essence of life and I'm happy to invest my free time in a game that so perfectly captures the banality of life and juxtaposes it with the semi-fantastic sci-fi elements of the Starfield world. So it still feels like a game, but... I'm THERE. It's so easy to get immersed. People are going to be studying Starfield a hundred years from now.
Low IQ detected. Maybe we can mod in a few levels from Mario Galaxy or something so you can decompress yourself from the rest of the quietly beautiful and deep world Starfield has to offer. Take a break from being an adult in an adult world, you know? Come on back into the Starfield anon, we know you have it in you.
Sorry man, it's the adult gamer's choice, the thinking gamer's choice of game. There's no wacky clown car shit like in BG3 because we don't need it, we're not railroaded into the same FUCKING story every time like Mass Effect either. We're not trying to "dazzle you" with meaningless fantasy horse shit like Cyberpunk. Starfield is growing up and enjoying life. If Socrates designed a game it would be Starfield. It's ascetic, and realistic fantasy. Grounded but up in the clouds. Heh if you don't get it, put it away for now and try again in 20 years. Many people will still be playing (it's "that" kind of game 😉 and we'll be here for you lil bro.
>a sci-fi game taking inspiration from so many different facets of the real world.
It's just the same old star wars crap repainted white and slightly more angular.
not defending shitfield here, but Morrowind is part of an explicit fantasy universe with wizards and elves running around and monsters everywhere, that is the base for all TES games.
starfield was NEVER supposed to be anything more than what you'd call low-fantasy sci-fi, meaning you get to play in what they thought human space exploration ~300 years in the future would look like.
SF was never advertised as fantasy space shit with aliens shooting lasercannons and all that.
>SF was never advertised as fantasy space shit with aliens shooting lasercannons and all that.
But that's what it is, minus the aliens. Space fantasy pew pew but with 1000% more stealing peoples pens off desks to one day build your own interstellar spaceship.
>its very bland and sanitized,
And that's the realistic depiction of space. They're going for a NASA aesthetic and vibe for a lot of the inspiration. Real world tech for the designs of space ships, space bases. Actual real world designs drawn up by NASA for predictions on how these places would look. Based off the actual science.
Space has to be perfect. Spaceships have to have multiple points of failure in its systems to ensure survival. Everything is deliberate because it's too costly in life for there to be a mistake.
It's sterile because that's very much what the environment in space would be like. What space travel would be like. What space colonies, cities etc would be like.
New Atlantis hides its poors, undesirables, problem citizens etc in the tunnels beneath the city. It's supposed to come off as overtly sterilized above ground and that's supposed to initially feel very utopian and very quickly come off as very authoritarian and more dystopian than the initial image of the place is supposed to.
There's a lot to complain about in the game, but I really think a majority of people who find starfield bland just can't get over the subject material this is supposed to be based on, they want more direct escapism but to call it uninspired, bland and without Identity is just wrong.
It oozes and is teeming with space age inspiration directly based off our own adventures into the cosmos and attempts to understand the vast emptiness there within. In the same way fallout captures that same feeling of the cold war, atomic era propaganda, the oil shortages in the 70s.
It's all there. I just think the average person has more first hand experience and knowledge of tolkein fantasy inspirations, and the cold war looming over the world than they really do about the inner workings of the space race, moon missions, rocketry, cosmonauts etc.
>They're going for a NASA aesthetic and vibe for a lot of the inspiration.
But that's all it is, an aesthetic. At every turn they take the easy road and just make things generic 1980s scifi.
Truly. Besides the woke shit and unbelievably ugly fat morons everywhere you look, that’s the biggest crime. It’s just completely sterile and flat.
Makes you wonder how many of the same people that brought places like “Morrowind” and the Capital Wasteland still have a creative role at Butthesda. While it’s not a complete waste, a lot of this feels like it was made by injection mold.
I don’t think the game is ugly, I think it’s boring. I think it needed as much care as Fallout and Elder Scrolls did to have its own identity. As it is, it’s too bland to have staying power and I don’t foresee anyone ever clamoring for a sequel.
They should have just made Elder Scrolls 6 and never bothered with this.

Meh might be for you.
I have amazing memories of playing in a giant metal spaceship my dad found that was like 8 feet tall with a small inside like a club house for me and my brothers.
Or when my parents took me to the NASA space center in Houston, and we took the tour throughout the entire facilities. Reminds me of the science centers I went to as well. Also eventually visited the cape Canaveral museum and the areas in Florida too.
Maybe those who didn't grow up with those experiences don't share the same nostalgia for the stars I get when looking at this aesthetic Bethesda made but I love it. I love the humans early settled systems, and the balls to do a sci-fi game without the focus on fantasy sentient alien life but instead humanities journey into the stars.
Shit isn't for everybody but I always saw that dream Todd wanted to share and it's because I had that dream as a kid.

this is easily the best part about this game for me, and unexpectedly too. it's a shame the game didn't feel as cohesive and as grounded as i wanted it too. The bethesda formula works better with more simpler settings (post apoc world, medieval fantasy etc) where you scavenge and loot. Looting in starfield feels redundant, as it's literally the space age and you're still rummaging through trash, it feels ridiculous. And you're always carrying thousands of rounds of ammo as well, which feels tasteless compared it to feeling much more rewarding in a desolate place like the fallout world.

Alien Isolation has the best ship interiors of any video game and that came out almost 10 years ago now. Everything in Alien Isolation was coherent since it was based on a property that came out in the 70’s and they matched it exactly, so it has the “cassette-futurism” look to adhere to, even down to the terminals you use.

not the guy you're replying to, but the sterile interiors are so bland and boring, maybe that's the appeal for some die hard space realism fans but not for people who want something better than what the locker room at the 'Y' offers. The cockpit looks cool but that's about it. the game is the definition of soulless, but i will grant that it isn't their fault, such is the true nature of the void that is space.

Hopetech industries has cube shaped spaceships. If they were going for a NASA look, it would be all rockets, curves, wings and enormous thrusters. Bad argument.
The obviously borrowed from all of science fiction. There are deliberate call outs to Star Wars in it.
The “reality” here is no more than the “reality” of Star Trek. It’s not finely tuned, but it’s serviceable. The factions are boring. There are religious zealots, cowboys, and your basic “starfleet” faction. Not only that, it’s all interchangeable. Everyone wears the same clothes. Everyone looks the same. Everyone has shared accents from “Old Earth”. They did not craft an engaging world here, it’s pretty humdrum.

There are multiple different shipyards at this point, designing different kinds of ships for different sectors of society.
Hopetech is space-trucker cargo hauling industrial ships, and their design philosophy shows that.
Deimos has the shipyard that's been tasked with designing, building and making military ships, and their philosophy is designed specifically around militant use.
They all follow similar core design principles technology wise, but just like real life when it comes to different sectors, you'll have different designed aesthetics.
You have military boats, pleasure boats, industrial work boats, cargo boats, research boats, etc in real life.
There is a specific star yard that's entirely based around that NASA look and it's Nova. their HABS look like the ISS, their Structural parts are wings, struts, solar panels and everything you need to make the appollo one if we found oil on the moon.

There wouldn't be resource issues or poor people at that point in human society though. Their initial design point was that there would be a heavily robotized society and then someone made them scrap it to appeal to some sort of "very human centric" vision of the future...
They have fully digital currency as mentioned and insanely advanced robotics (actually not probably advanced enough for their point in history in all seriousness) so there is no way there would be poor people or need for cash or things like that. They realized that and decided "uh...people..uh...just...society just um...doesn't use robots.....actually...except when they do and uh...it...um...nothing has changed....uhhhhhhhh"
Which is a colossal failure. Resources would be getting pumped out 24/7. There would be more shit than you could spend with automated workers producing it faster than any humans in history ever could hope to do even if they tried their hardest.

I honestly felt the exact opposite. I don't even think I finished it the two times I read it, dropped it as soon as the Riggers or Diggers showed up and humanity had evolved into fantasy races. I can see how that would be much more interesting but for me it was more interesting to see the humans struggle against insane odds with relatively near-future tech. Some of the lead up was contrived but you gotta give and take when it comes to fantasy. He did the same thing in Dodge in Hell, basically made half the book a LOTR or Paradise Lost fantasy story and for some reason it made me so fucking mad to sit through that, and that's coming from someone who willingly read Gene Wolfe's Solar Cycle 3 times. Stephenson is a sci-fi thriller type writer and he needs to stop fucking around in fantasy land. They could have hired him for Starfield honestly.
Anonymous
I almost dropped the book twice, especially when it starts to really drag on with the ice asteroid part.
It's my least favorite Stephenson book and I still don't quite get why people praise it so much.
In contrast Snow Crash was a page turner from start to finish, same with Cryptonomicon..
Anonymous
Fwiw I had to restart Seveneves because at first I just couldn't get over the Neil Tyson stand in or the Elon Musk character, but it starts to get good once they're fully underway in space and really have to deal with it. I think Stephenson's best works were as you mentioned, with Snow Crash being the better of the two, and that's his strength. Reamde is similarly good, great even, but Dodge in Hell (the sequel) really falls apart in the fantasy half. The Baroque Cycle is definitely worth a look if you read and enjoyed Cryptonomicon though, much of the same vibe and Stephenson doesn't have to worry greatly about the science since it's all historical.

The Science Black and Muskrat characters are such a curveball reading them today. Those two dipshits are now hated but back then when the book was written/published they were at the forefront of the Zeigeist, it really makes the book feel stuck in a time.
Same for the facebook/reddit/twitter mentions.
I found that really detracted from the whole experience, despite it being there to make it more grounded and approachable.

And also the frequent mentions of internet meme culture taking off, he actually has a point in the book where one character explicitly says the scene where the Russian cosmonaut woman wrestles the Musk(?) character on board the space station set the Internet on fire with dommy-mommy AI porn which is believable (I guess) but weird. I want to say it takes me out of the story but it's not unreasonable, however if he rewrote it (he probably wants to because he wanted movies and games from the setting) he would absolutely excise Musk and Tyson and insert some sensitive Buff Hardchest guys opposite the usual capable but quirky female characters he writes, maximizing appeal (and therefore minimizing style). Interesting time capsule I guess.

I’ve heard it referred to as “Nasa-punk” but it isn’t even that.
There’s a boring Wild West planet that looks like a fucking theme park lol. You don’t even see anyone actually farming. Even Fallout had farmers and Brahmin and crop fields. It’s pretty bad. It’s trying to be Star Trek adjacent, that’s the height of it’s identity.
Elder Scrolls is high fantasy and not exactly original, but there is something particularly patent about the art direction and world design of the 3D games that screams “Elder Scrolls”. That same kind of care didn’t go into this.

Capital Wasteland literally looks exactly like DC would look if a nuclear bomb hit it. When you play that game, you feel like you are in the ruins of DC 200 years after a nuclear detonation. Successful art direction. I also liked the green tint and people who download mods to turn it off are tasteless gays.
Fallout 4 doesn’t even look like a “post-nuclear adventure”. Stylistically it went too colorful, curvy and clean.
Starfield is basically the art style of The Institute (worst faction ever in fallout). Bethesda has almost a Pixar approach to how they model everything now. Not a fan.
>Capital Wasteland literally looks exactly like DC would look if a nuclear bomb hit it.
And that's more creative how? It used the template of Washington DC instead of having to create their own settlements from scratch, and give them their own identities like everything in starfield which was built from the ground up.
All the factions in fallout 3 are ripped directly from the franchise that Bethesda bought instead of their own creations,.so that means it's even further less inspired and much less creative due to them appropriating the style, lore, story, setting and aesthetics.
Fallout in general is extremely creative. A future where the 50’s never ended, that ended in a nuclear holocaust. Bethesda bought Fallout because they loved it, and they did put that same kind of care into 3.

they did absolutely nothing at all to make the planets interesting, even our own solar systems planets have more going on than all 1000 starfield planets combined
They weren't 100% accurate about stuff and just winged it. It's not a simulation or hard sci-fi. For instance the Mantis' planet Denebola I-b shouldn't be able to support life due to the star being blue.
I don't think there's a way they could have an ozone that would protect it at all by anything we know, but if there was a way around it IRL then I hope it happens.
>It's not a simulation or hard sci-fi.
That's underselling it, you can find the remains of creatures in caves on moons that couldn't possibly support life
The idea for that would be that life was possible at one point but isn't anymore, or that they were brought there for xenowarfare testing and disposed of/died during operation
Yeah I'm sure that handwavey bullshit is correct, and the fresh bones arent just their because Beth's level designers had no fucking clue their cave would be used on a frozen moon
"It's not a simulation or hard sci-fi." >With Starfield's hugely anticipated 2023 release growing ever-closer, Bethesda has launched a new Q&A video series, and episode one sees director Todd Howard responding to a number of community queries - including sharing some thoughts on traits, dialogue, and whether Starfield can be described as a "hard sci-fi" game. >Howard began the chat by detailing a few of Starfield's inspirations - 1984 space sim SunDog: Frozen Legacy and pen-and-paper RPG Traveller, if you're wondering - before moving on to tackle the "hard sci-fi" question. This, he said, was a little tricky to answer insofar as different people will likely have different definitions of "hard sci-fi", but for Bethesda, "It is more hard to us, where you can draw that line from, okay, here's how man explored space, and [then] look at our ships and say, alright that has some visual identity back to that". >However, he also called the question a bit of a trap, "because it's a video game. Like, a hard science-fiction video game would be, you die in space cold." >...when Bethesda attempted to implement some of these more realistic systems, it "became very punitive for the player." >"Your ship would run out of fuel and the game would just stop," Howard explained, "you just want get back to what you were doing. So we've recently changed it where the fuel in your ship and the grav drive limits how far you can go at once. But it doesn't run out of fuel." This could perhaps be changed by a future update or mod, he added, "but that's what we're doing now."
I don't agree with your other account, but this one is even more cringe.

Yeah fair cop. Hard to tell sometimes from all the shilling and frothing.
thats literally what hes saying like its not hard scifi its just scifi because its a video game. its not trying to be reality and it would be stupid for it to. Like there are a ton of problems with the game but thats not one of them.
They didn't even do the bare minimum quality control in their level design.
For example, on a 0.2 grav planet with no atmosphere, you wouldn't have fucking stairs all around an outpost, and you sure as hell wouldn't have windswept rocks around the mouth of a cave.
If it's not the most basic of obvious shit like this, what even is "hard" sci-fi to them?

No shit anon they literally just copy and pasted prefabs all over. There was no thought put into any of it. You can find lush green grass on planets with 0 oxygen and -60 temps
>where you distribute the energy even during combact
I know, but I rarely do during combat. I have a good enough reactor and build to just power up the shield, some engines and the rest goes to the weapons.
It was already said by Todd that hardcore mode is coming, one of the scenarios is you getting stranded in space due to running out of Helium-3.
Source? The only thing I heard him say is that they removed fuel because it was unfun.
However, space scavenger lifestyle sounds like fun.
>Source? The only thing I heard him say is that they removed fuel because it was unfun.
It's the same source you read, few lines after he said it's something that is planned for hardcore mode.
That's a beautiful scene that will get boring after 5 minutes. And then you're left with an enormous planet with nothing worthwhile to do on it. And then you realize the planet is all procedurally generated and what you're looking at was just shat out by some algorithm and that all of the thousand planets are going to be the procedurally generated sandbox of pointless shit. And then you become very aware that you're not actually on an alien world, looking up at a nearby planet, but that you are playing a video game. That's the problem with starfield, it kills all the immersion by reminding you that you are sitting inside a simulation.
The game just ain't there yet. I'm trying to be a no good rapscallion and I find myself concerned 90% what to do with all the garbage resources I collect instead of what I want to do.
>clearly hasn't touched the game
The answer was her voice actress, Hispanicy accent, her always smiling smugly, her own boss giving her a nickname that she's embarrassed over, and the fact that she's your corporate boss.
how come it is all the modern landmarks that would collapse after 10 years without maintenance that survived whatever befell earth, and not the ancient ones that didnt have anyone taking care of them yet survived several millennia?
Becuase bethesda sucks ass. Why is there no remnants of ANYTHING around that one remarkably preserved landmark? did the desert just decide to stop at it's base?
Reminder btw that this is only 200 years after the earth was destroyed so erosion is fucking laughable
I could asspull any number of reasons the planet got scoured so hard so fast and it'd still be shit because somehow only the monuments are standing but no other buildings
I wanna fix it so bad but the CK's probably not coming until next fucking year so fuck me
Who cares it looks cool. I wish Starfield had more of this shit that is just exciting and mysterious, realismfags be damned. Instead most of the game is a "realistic" planet full of "realistic" boring nothingness.
yeah what the fuck? non bong here, i was so confused when i saw that. i don't even know what it is. i was expecting big ben or a blown up london bridge or something. not a giant black cock. i thought it was a bug for a mintue and it was the washington monument or something.
It explained so much when I realized you have to be White to understand Starfield. >b-but Indians aren't whi-
Dravidians are aryan chads, we are brothers, you meanwhile are probably a mutt
The second companion you meet is a race traitor “cowboy” who constantly reminds you how much he loves his little niglet. This game is made for the Microsoft audience.
I once unironically saw an Indian share pictures of his own mother asking anons if they thought she was hot, and then asked them how he could go about secretly fattening her up for his own pleasure. Then another Indian came in and shamed him for embarrassing their race. They need to stay in India.
pirate it
I'm playing the premium version since the first day of the pre-release
and the update will also come for free because there is no DRM of any kind
Well obviously dont simulate 3d planet at coordinates outside float range you retard
But skyboxes do simulate movement of planets and moons in the system, idk how accurately
It's not, try landing on the tropics of a planet when the sun should be directly above you. Most of the time the sun will be somewhere else rather than where it should be.
Sometimes I just want vats so I can open up the green pause point n click menu, point on the NPCs boost pack, and watch them get shot up to their death by neck snap into the ceiling as it malfunctions.
Not really for when I want to kill them, just for when I want to see them die in that specific animation because it's funny.
Absolutely mental that a 12+ year old game from THE SAME DEVELOPER looks better.
Starfield looks terrible even maxed out and it's really puzzling.
There is no fucking soul.
It's a much different kind of soul that not everyone can understand. Everyone enjoys fantasy cause it speaks to ancestral memory. Many people can't feel the same way about looking to the future.
No gay, I prefer space games and sci-fi aesthetic. Starfield has a really bland, nondescript aesthetic, it has no soul.
That's what bothers me the most about it. It really feels like "space-slop" it has no identity.
Elder Scrolls games might be considered generic now but they have a clear aesthetic, soul and tone and they stick to it and do it well.
It's amazing they managed to make it so bland. You could literally have paid ten year old children with bars of chocolate and used those ideas to greater effect - "a big crater except it's full of metal spiders the size of my house and they have drills in the middle", "it's got low gravity like the moon so people built a city in a canyon and use hanggliders to go everywhere", "all the bad people live here and they force you to have a tattoo and there are lots of naked ladies", "the planet is a big jungle like vietnam and the spacemen use napalm on it and you meet my dad and find out how he lost his leg", etc.
I'm in my 30s and bought the early access. It's okay. Still bland.
Obviously it shouldn't be reddit-and-morty retard child tier, but the cities should be distinct from existing work in some way. They're not. There's the elites-on-top working-class-underneath city, the space cowboy city, and the cyberpunk industrial city. The game doesn't have a strong identity of its own, it just borrows from other work.
Saying that it would be better if literal ten year olds had designed it is not praising the ten year olds, it's criticising the game. The setting is bland. Mechanically it's a Bethesda game and I don't care about the 2d foliage or shitty fog shader, but it has no sense of place.

You're in your 30s and you have the experience and imagination of a zoomer given how quick you are to reduce the cities to what you can understand. That's fine, it turned out the game wasn't for you despite you getting conned into preordering.

You know underage retards are the only ones enjoying starflop right?
>Starfield is the most scientifically grounded in terms of art-direction out of any space RPG ever made.
The length average Toddslopper goes to defend garbage art-direction of Starfield.
>see that stupid dinosaur? >you can scan it >see those rocks? >you can scan them >see that never ending expanse of nothing? >you can walk it until you hit an invisible wall
Starfield gave me little skits showing what my choices ended up doing in the end
BG 3 had 1 different line for each companion and the ending was the same as every other person's and none of the sidequests and optional shit was mentioned or resolved.
Why are people saying BG3 has 'le ebin choice and consequences' now that I've beaten both and know that that's bullshit
*ahem*
This game is all smoke and mirrors. To the first-time player, this game features an insane amount of choice. 99.9% of players always play the good guy first playthrough, so they see these options listed in the dialogue box for you to potentially be a dick. They never pick them, which allows the illusion of choice to remain intact. Picking them shatters the illusion because this is how all "no" dialogue goes.
>we need to do this >"no" >*lectures you why saying no was a wrong choice and you must play along" >dialogue eventually picks up where you would have otherwise picked yes
This happens every single time in dialogue. Skill checks act the exact same way as well.
The Ryujin quest is just as much "Todd's lies" bullshit. It doesn't matter if you kill or spare the kid you've replaced. You get the exact same response from Imogene. It doesn't matter if you sneakily upload the virus payload. You get the exact same result shooting the place up against your boss's orders despite her telling you that the plan is confidential and that it's important to not draw CeltCorp's suHispanicion.
The Crimson Fleet questline is deceitful as well. It doesn't matter if you side with SysDef or Crimson Fleet. Both sides have you play the exact same missions because SysDef leeches off the Crimson Fleet quest until you complete it, where only then you are tasked with killing everyone with Crimson Fleet. There's no extra flavor to the questline because you are forced to play through Crimson Fleet no matter if you want to join them or join SysDef.
You may ask what happens if you try to kill Crimson Fleet prematurely? Here's what happens. >walk in >murder every single generic non-essential npc >essential npcs fall down to the ground >they stand back up >they pretend like you've done nothing to them
At least attacking faction members in Skyrim and Fallout 4 got you kicked out.
I swear Bethesda keeps getting worse every single game release.

You are not the most intelligent Bethesdrone, are you?
>whatabout
lol bg3 shills are hilariously insecure
Your complaint is the lack of an end screen which tells what you did, but the cause and effect of your actions is shown during your walkthrough, not the end screen, which is why this bg3 is so praised.
Starfield is filled not only with false choices, but the choices that aren't doing anything or even acknowledged. But here is the kicker: everything is pointless because of the endless multiuniverse theme.

you don't understand bro, three lines of dialogue change and the name of the mindflayer who sacrifices themselves changes to either Emperor, Prince Orpheus, or your companion/you
That means the ending is different!
maybe you should beat it, like I have. There is even a mod to spread them out more or you could use it to 'make them closer' since you're a spatially challenged moron
this. planets can be far more interesting than these "muh realism" retards understand, even just in our own solar system. they made zero effort to do any of it other than generating some empty land
Not strong enough to keep undesirables out.
Not strong enough to defeat farmers with rickety ships.
Not strong enough to tame nature.
What is strong about UC, specifically?
All the planets looks the same lol. Like you could do whatever the fuck you want with those planets make infinite possibility and yet all the did is make all them barren with some mountains and shit. WOW.
>"exploration" >same exact cave on every planet >walk around until you find a crystal formation >"well done, here's the same amount of money you'd get for helping a retard get a comic book"
Neon >but muh
Neon can exist only thanks concession from the collective governament in exchange of an industrial and technology output to survive against the UC.
literally impossible for bethesda style game.
they prefer more cities then a single 1 all equal like in cyberpunk where 90% of the buildings are useless
No one cares about exploring a thousand shitty high rises in cyberpunk, the game isn't about that. Those devs understand that a city is about scale and atmosphere, not looting cybershagpad #3652
>scale
so starfield planet for you a godtier >but muh
botha planet and cyperpunk city is desolated land with some interest points

The scale of a city, reading comprehension-kun. A city is by definition not an isolated land. And again, you don't need to visit every single hovel in it for it to be interesting (something you provided no counter argument for).

New Atlantis, Akila, and Neon are the only "cities" in the game, and Akila is more like a village. Everywhere else like New Homestead and Cydonia are pretty much just outposts with one shop, one bar, and one area dedicated to residences that you usually can't even enter.
The largest city in the game is just some fallout-style ruins on a planet in Procyon, frozen and overrun by terrormorphs. It's only big for the sake of being an obstacle course (as opposed to just another cave or factory) since it's all nonsensical commieblock apartments scattered everywhere.
Neon is a miniature oil rig on a water planet you can't land on or do anything else on besides stand on the oil rig and makes no sense lore wise, and it's tiny and looks like shit on top of that.
>stole alien designs from Outer Worlds >stole level up musical hit from Outer Worlds
Why is Todd such a fucking unoriginal hack? I can excuse recycling the whole Dragonborn thing from Skyrim since it's their own IP, but blatantly aping another space RPG? Fucking pathetic.
the scanner/mining laser/ resource and element collection is like someone looked at no mans sky and hastily tried to copy it as quick and dirty as they could
?
its not useful first of all but that's besides the point and has nothing to do with what i said, which is that they directly ripped off and dumbed down the system from NMS and it looks exactly like that's what they did
>look at this foggy brown shit where you can barely see 2 feet in front of you with absolutely no detail or texture
why did you even take this sceenshot lol
This game was totally made for GenX, right down to the ability to remove Blacks less than week into early launch. Believe me, that shit is rare. We have it now and no amount of chud kvetching about inclusion is going to take it away.
So I just done ransack an elite gala/dinner, went a the GalBank building in New Atlantis, fought a couple of bounty hunter and downloaded a list. In that list there's a couple of GalBank ships that carries credit that was lost somewhere in the galaxy. Only the Legacy and the other ship has their last location available on the list. My question is, can I find the other ship? They said its last signal is near a planet/moon.
>NTA DEEZ NUTS gayS
I'm starting to hate the pornhub 3 inclusive edition shills now considering they align will with the freaking PedoCord chuds raiders who comes here to Shit and try to destroy the board I'm not forgetting about the chudeddit gay refugees they need to Fuck off and go back.
The replies don't matter. It's just word salad until you fill the meter and can continue the actual conversation, the only thing that matters there is the color and +# unless the topic has something in [Brackets], which supposedly means it's guaranteed to work.
If you ever get tired of randomly failing one of the harder ones, just auto-persuade to win and skip all the nonsense.
No all of that shit is radiant and doesn't line up with the responses/next dialogue. You literally only have to look at the color for your odds of success and the number to fill the gauge. The text doesn't matter at all. It's all going to work if you succeed the check.
To be fair to slopfield the area just outside the lodge with those trees is probably the absolute worst looking place in the entire game. Which is baffling because just about every main story quest starts and ends there.
Starfield's launch was a disaster. It lost millions of dollars and will be lucky to break even before the year is out. >Steam generally trends as a quarter of game sales vs all other platforms >steam estimates 1 million sales >that means 3 million Xbox sales >2 million gamepass sales >absolute fucking failure that doesn't make back even half of the 400 million dollar budget >10 dollars per gamepass sub IF every user bought it specifically for starfield >49 dollars per steam sale >70 dollars per Xbox sale >200 million net in sales >400 million budget when accounting for marketing >net 200 million dollar loss
>where is the socialist commune

Neon is a terrible place full of assholes and we're very good people by contrast." >Mission Complete!
All the Constellation missions felt like a fever dream in the Marvel universe, just completely bizarre and far removed from the tone and quality of the rest of the factions' writing and mission design.
I honestly hate that I finished this game. The main quest was so fucking bad I'll never forgive or forget it.
I wish skills were a little different
I feel like I shouldn't have to do the challenge and THEN spend a skill point to rank it up. For some skills it's not an issue but for the crafting skills it's annoying. I don't want to have to craft 15 useless spacesuit parts just so I can get the skill to let me change my boostpack type
I feel like a good system would be that spending a skill point unlocks the skill and the challenge, and if you complete the challenge the next rank is free, but this doesn't apply to the rank after that
Then if you spend a point to max out a skill it will give a free point to use after you complete the challenge
Why does this game punish you so hard so being morally gray? It literally forces you to dance to their tune and be "the good guy". These types of games are made for people to explore the choices and consequences of actions. I usually play the moralfag in games like this but occasionally I want to be the baddy.

i know what you mean, but it doesn't really "punish" you because the game is made for adults with toddler brains and the consequences don't mean a fucking thing. you're right in that it's set up specifically for you to be a good guy knight in shining armor or at absolute WORST a robin hood, but it doesn't "punish" you beyond your companions getting mad and leaving you for a day. even then, they come right back. i had barrett freak out at me because I blew up a freestar ship that found my contraband and I said if you don't like it then leave. the game even said barrett was permanently leaving my group. about 2 in game days later I got a notification saying barrett was no longer mad at me and is available as a companion again.
true, but i want to kill NPCs and have more dynamic faction alignments. the only NPCs you can actually even kill are nameless shitbags that just land you bountys.
I have a very modest pc that doesn't hit the minimum requirements for Starfield
BUT I THINK I might be able to run it using the POTATO mod and a lower windowed resolution
I already got the disk space in another ssd so don't worry about that.

i know but for some reason even after shield killin, my weapons werent doing any engine damage unless they were already damaged and i coulda boarded them and i fucked up
you have to be careful not to damage them too much. usually just stay behind them and wear the shields down with lasers, the hit engines specifically with cannon fire. if you've knocked their shields off already and done significant damage to the hull, a lot of the times you'll end up making a killing blow trying to knock the engines. adds a little nuance to the space battles. speaking off, does anyone know what triggers the zero g boarding actions? those are usually a lot of fun but i can't figure out what causes them. do you have to knock the grav drive out too?
every motherfucker ive seen playing this game has had the same progress, with little variation
they all end up with that shitty potato sack on their head

Shocktrooper armour is the best in the game? Yes I agree

starfield style is realistic, how must be the space exploration.
the style is not in funny things but in the contest behind it.

I want to like it because of the bonuses it gives, but it looks too ugly so I don't wear it

Because you're a desperate gay with shit hardware.

That's one savage self-own, lmao.
Why can't modern slop renderers do grit anymore? If this was in unreal all those pipes would be a shiny reflective blurry mess
is this supposed to be impressive lmao

This game aesthetic is so bland and uninspired...

Please take your meds
Low IQ detected. Maybe we can mod in a few levels from Mario Galaxy or something so you can decompress yourself from the rest of the quietly beautiful and deep world Starfield has to offer. Take a break from being an adult in an adult world, you know? Come on back into the Starfield anon, we know you have it in you.

How can somebody older than 8 play thid fucking garbage is beyond me
Sorry man, it's the adult gamer's choice, the thinking gamer's choice of game. Many people will still be playing (it's "that" kind of game 😉 and we'll be here for you lil bro.
spaceshit is shit. cope moron
Die fantasyfag
>a sci-fi game taking inspiration from so many different facets of the real world.
It's just the same old star wars crap repainted white and slightly more angular.
>SF was never advertised as fantasy space shit with aliens shooting lasercannons and all that.
But that's what it is, minus the aliens. Space fantasy pew pew but with 1000% more stealing peoples pens off desks to one day build your own interstellar spaceship.
>They're going for a NASA aesthetic and vibe for a lot of the inspiration.
But that's all it is, an aesthetic. At every turn they take the easy road and just make things generic 1980s scifi.
It has space magic shut the fuck up you disingenuous piece of shit.
Then make it actually emulate space gay
While it’s not a complete waste, a lot of this feels like it was made by injection mold.
this game is a masterpice with the best aestetic possible.
you want reddit wacky shit
You’re an okay troll. C-.

It has its own identity, you just don't like the identity it has because it isn't wacky enough to you, and doesn't offer you enough escapism from our reality like the post apocalyptic, retrofuturistic Americana of fallout, or the whacky tolkein inspired fantasy of elderscrolls.
its very bland and sanitized, the strippers being fully clothed is just one easy example but the entire game is like that. feels like Microsoft had a big part in that because their other games are not like this. coming from someone who's enjoying the game but wish they'd done better
go to paradise coomer
also stop watching rick and morty
paradiso has people in bikinis on a beach, I've been there, what I'm talking about has nothing to do with sex
look at that body
that's a man baby
>its very bland and sanitized,
And that's the realistic depiction of space.
So we can agree that realism is the most anti-fun thing that videogames ever focused on?
>Maybe those who didn't grow up with those experiences don't share the same nostalgia for the stars I get when looking at this aesthetic Bethesda made but I love it
>to enjoy the empty sandbox that is starfield you had to have gone to a dozen nasa museums as a kid
lol ok
There isn't a game with more detailed ship interiors based on real inspiration, there aren't more well modelled ship interiors than starfield.
I just hate how good the game's lighting engine looks on interiors (like baked lighting w/o the baking), and then how fucking bad it looks on every exterior location.
this is easily the best part about this game for me, and unexpectedly too. it's a shame the game didn't feel as cohesive and as grounded as i wanted it too.
Everything in Alien Isolation was coherent since it was based on a property that came out in the 70’s and they matched it exactly, so it has the “cassette-futurism” look to adhere to, even down to the terminals you use.
starfield does it better
Nah.
It IS pretty great though. There are serious Alien vibes in the Starfield spaceships.
Look man, when I was a young kid I got to take a tour of the place, go inside some of the exhibits, and booting up Starfield, going inside your ship interior brings back direct memories of this.
http://www.collectspace.com/news/news-090516a-space-shuttle-adventure-houston.html
You can cope seethe and dilate all you want about how "shit" the aesthetic is, but they absolutely nailed the NASA look they were going for with the Nova habs and it brought me back to being a kid again
god damn this thing was cool as hell as a kid
not the guy you're replying to, but the sterile interiors are so bland and boring, maybe that's the appeal for some die hard space realism fans but not for people who want something better than what the locker room at the 'Y' offers. The cockpit looks cool but that's about it. the game is the definition of soulless, but i will grant that it isn't their fault, such is the true nature of the void that is space.
i think that's the problem with the designs, the ships look like your average RV, with baubles and nicknacks everywhere that would be all over the place in a 0G enviorment, and if the ships have gravity generators what's the point of making it sterile looking
don't try to reason with tbad faith retards.
nah, what's bland and sanitized is the characters subject matter and cultures, it's very T for Teen to sum it up
Hopetech industries has cube shaped spaceships.
They did not craft an engaging world here, it’s pretty humdrum.
>nasa look
international space station
>but muh
MODULAR SHIPPING IS NASA
A cube lifting off from the surface of a planet is NASA? That’s Star Wars you fucking idiot.
modulistic allow mass production and simplidy projects for them.
reducing all the cost.
this is REALISM and what nasa do
NASA propels cubes into orbit with tiny little thrusters? Interesting.
Has SpaceX launched their cube yet?
Elons cube ship will bring us to mars
You are an enormous gay. There is nothing realistic about this game or it’s art direction. They have 1970’s style supercomputers with rows of blinking LEDs for fucks sake.
They borrowed from a plethora of sources and created something lesser than what they borrowed from. It’s that simple.
>grounded in realism = realism
holy fucking shit disingenuous gay, have a nice day.
Just because you lack understanding of the inspiration the game has, doesn't mean it's "Bland" yeah, say more that you don't like anything about space travel as it is in the real world, the aesthetic it has, etc.
I know you don't, because you desperately want it to be another mass effect where you fuck a blue alien or some shit.
It's the most bland looking sci-fi setting not only aesthetics wise, but writing too. have a nice day, deranged toddslopper.
>It's the most bland looking sci-fi setting
It's the most inspired sci-fi setting, and it took balls to make it based on humans exploration out in the earliest explored star systems and not a huge alien wankfest where you excuse everything as "Space magic" and get to fuck different colored aliens that are just humans but maybe with a blue head tentacle hair.
space wizard children's game with nothing to do with realism in the culture, setting, subject matter or themes. Minecraft for adult children
Starfield is the most scientifically grounded in terms of art-direction out of any space RPG ever made.
Their spaceship interiors are the nicest looking out of any space RPG ever made. Really the lists goes on and on
>where you excuse everything as "Space magic"
Then what the hell is with the Starborn thing? I have fucking gravity powers in this game.
well yes, that's the real space magic, but that's the tweest
>Then what the hell is with the Starborn thing?
Isn't that the million credit question?
There is a scientific basis for Starborn story anon Todd can't constantly hold your hands
well then where's MY gravity powers?
multiverse, yes, although not actually scientific (at the moment) and purely theoretical, starborn, no.
There is a school of thought that the multiverse or string theoryists have basically doomed the planet because for 40 years they've been studying what is essentially fantasy (or theoretical) physics and Starfield is a perfect cap to that. I mean how far was it between the identification of neutrons and the atom bomb? Ok so where's my extra universe, Mr Hawking?
it's actually space science.
What’s grounded in realism? That space travel is possible? That some characters wear Marty McFly’s jacket from BttF 2?
They could have given their world the same love and care they gave elder scrolls but they didn’t. It’s bland, deal with it. Nothing wrong with it being a little boring.
>Tolkein fantasy knockoff tropes
>Same love and care
no they actually gave more love n care into it than just blatantly ripping off the same fantasy tropes every hack fantasy writer has done since the dawn of time, while excusing away any and all plotholes with Chim.
A lot of the people who complain about that and all of the people who complain about pronouns are frothing at the mouth troglodytes who will never be satisfied with anything less than complete regression to the stone age. They hate nasa because they believe the devil throws parties there and makes people gay or some shit.
IS ALL STYLE IS REALISTIC FUTURE

Seveneves has a similar premise of nasapunk (the entire story revolves around it) and is a billion times more creative than this slop
Seveneves also sucked. The book only gets good right at the end. The entire nasaslop first 3/4ths of the book was boring and predictable as hell.
I almost dropped the book twice, especially when it starts to really drag on with the ice asteroid part.
It's my least favorite Stephenson book and I still don't quite get why people praise it so much.
In contrast Snow Crash was a page turner from start to finish, same with Cryptonomicon..
Do people hate Black Science Man? I thought Reddit just seethed at him for me too shit and he ignored it and it went away. His podcast still pulls good numbers but I don't really know what the average person thinks of him these days
Yeah he's been outed on one side as creepy sex pest who doesn't do science and outed on the other side as a political mouthpiece. I've seen a lot of podcasts with this guy and he is an honest dumbass and proof that if you stay in school they'll give you a degree.
>What space travel would be like. What space colonies, cities etc would be like.
This setting makes no sense
>majority of humanity lives in remote settlements scattered across the galaxy
>every single one is unprotected and being wiped out by random space bandits
>every single one is begging for a protector
>meanwhile there's a city the size of a single city block that's perfectly safe and protected and supplies everyone with everything
>there are retards who choose to settle on moon with no atmosphere to be *farmers*
>What government exists is barely functioning and seemingly outnumbered by a disorganized Mob of retarded pirates who survive mainly off stealing shit from others
>space ships are dirt cheap, and any retard can pilot one making it so every gang of 5 can own one and terrorize the rest of humanity
>Space ships are treated like bikes in that they're extremely common and nothing special
>but despite all that nobody explores the outer reaches of space
>Races and cultures are arbitrary because a black guy can be Russian instead of the hundreds of other ethnicities that a black guy irl would actually want like Nigerian, Jamaican, Creole etc
>White people are all posh English and nothing else
>Black people are literally french, Russian, chinese and Indian
>Asians are all American and have no accent
>Again, everyone lives in small insular communities smaller than city blocks with populations smaller than a new York Street yet they all have completely random cultures, accents and races
This borders on JK Rowling levels of cultural ignorance. Did a disease make everyone retarded and also make every child born part of a random race?
the setting is perfect
space ship is common and relatively cheap, so people can colonize the universe very fast and spread as much they want.
YOU WILL NEVER BE A WRITER
>ship is

neither will you.
That's not fair to say, anon, he could very well be a renowned writer in India.
Nice post jeet try again when you can speak English
It’s not bad, it’s just bland.
>You don’t even see anyone actually farming
There are center-pivot irrigation machines right outside Akila with robots working on them and the entire Freestar Ranger plotline is started by heading off to a farm to help them out.
You mean the two boring buildings being patrolled by the same robots you see everywhere?
The ranch you go to on that mission is literally just a house. Nobody is actually farming. Nobody is growing crops even though there is a quest line about deceptive fertilizer for settlers growing crops.
To be honest that doesn’t even matter, it’s just not as well “lived in” as Elder Scrolls or Fallout.
>Nobody is growing crops
Cause they all died you retard, that's what the fertilizer does.
You just told me farming was happening, now you’re saying it isn’t. Doesn’t matter anyways though, Atila is the poor man’s Mos Eisley.
They're still working the land, retard. How much of a gay urbanite are you?
Solomon Coe founded it like over a hundred or two hundred years ago or something. They still aren’t farming but they have a city?
They were too lazy to export their farming animations from fallout 4, that’s what we are dealing with here.
Wow freestar such pioneers, dude this totally feels like the Wild West because there is a store in town that sells space revolvers!
they put too much stock on "1000 planets" (99% proc gen with copy paste buildings) when they should've made 2 or 3 systems with properly detailed planets/moons
not real space
just dumb
this is the real feeling of exploration
>this is the real feeling of exploration
landing in copy paste planets to go into copy paste buildings?
all planets are different unlike all locations and dialogues of baldur gates
I could just boot up Minecraft and run forward for hours and get basically the same experience but with more shit happening
and I wouldn't enjoy that either
>should've made 2 or 3 systems with properly detailed planets/moons
that would require work. bethesda no work.
me and poondish do work.
bethesda pay me and poondish good work!
>this game is a masterpice with the best aestetic possible.
100% agree. I have 50 hours in and I can't stop playing.
the graphics have a range of quality. kind of weird. most of the time the graphics are impressive on the series x.
>Shocktrooper armour
are you calling armour your suit? because it's not a good suit due to having no airborne points.
>capital wasteland
>More creative
Ishygddt
Starfield is stylistically and thematically bland in comparison. They should have went Space Fantasy and not science fiction. It would have allowed it to stand out and could have competed with Star Wars.
>Bethesda bought Fallout because they loved it, and they did put that same kind of care into 3
Bethesda don't give a flying fuck about Fallout, they treat it with about as much respect as the wifebeater does the run-down crackwhore he sees at night.
bethesda fucking hates fallout and you can see it in every fiber of any beth fallout game
not defending shitfield here, but Morrowind is part of an explicit fantasy universe with wizards and elves running around and monsters everywhere, that is the base for all TES games.
starfield was NEVER supposed to be anything more than what you'd call low-fantasy sci-fi, meaning you get to play in what they thought human space exploration ~300 years in the future would look like.
SF was never advertised as fantasy space shit with aliens shooting lasercannons and all that.
Mass Effect managed to do it. Mass Effect has an identity while still adhering to the “Star Trek” model. Starfield is pretty fucking boring to look at.
>mass effect
you mean alien shit starfield has no aliens is just humanity.
>wizard
iamgine being filtered so hard
>Mass Effect has an identity
Well, the first game did. In the sequels they sold out to waifufags and normalfags who wanted Gears of War combat
you literally become a space wizard and fight other wizards to get meme artifacts that warp you to the center of the multiverse to gain more wizard powers
actually looks like ps3 game
It does on that anon's low settings. Fuck all for indirect shadows, and the low-rez textures on the dude in the foreground suggests 50% rendering resolution at 1080p.
Love the game, hope we get vehicles in expansions or via mod soon
are mantisfags the new drake sword shiters?
using an ini tweak to turn most of that volumetric glow fog off.
What's the string for it? It's something that bothers me as well.
Despite the foliage looking like a game from 2007, it's kino
Why is the water not 12m high from the tidal forces of that enormous nearby satellite.
they did absolutely nothing at all to make the planets interesting, even our own solar systems planets have more going on than all 1000 starfield planets combined
You tell me
the water evolved to handle the gravity
How do you know it's not 12m high?
with no clip because you can't dive in shartfield :^)
More than one thing can be true
"It's not a simulation or hard sci-fi."
>With Starfield's hugely anticipated 2023 release growing ever-closer, Bethesda has launched a new Q&A video series, and episode one sees director Todd Howard responding to a number of community queries - including sharing some thoughts on traits, dialogue, and whether Starfield can be described as a "hard sci-fi" game.
Like, a hard science-fiction video game would be, you die in space cold."
>...when Bethesda attempted to implement some of these more realistic systems, it "became very punitive for the player."
>"Your ship would run out of fuel and the game would just stop," Howard explained, "you just want get back to what you were doing. So we've recently changed it where the fuel in your ship and the grav drive limits how far you can go at once. But it doesn't run out of fuel." This could perhaps be changed by a future update or mod, he added, "but that's what we're doing now."
I don't agree with your other account, but this one is even more cringe.
i wasnt that anon i was just chiming in on the whole "hard sci fi" thing using words straight from the todd's mouth
Hard Sci Fi is still a form of fiction. I am not sure how that managed to escape your notice.
i dont know what you think i am or am not saying. i literally just wanted to add that interview for context for you guys on what they were thinking. im not a part of your argument.
Yeah fair cop. Hard to tell sometimes from all the shilling and frothing.
>take away complexity from the game because its not 'fun'
>game still isn't fun
Iconic Bethesda recipe
thats literally what hes saying like its not hard scifi its just scifi because its a video game. its not trying to be reality and it would be stupid for it to. Like there are a ton of problems with the game but thats not one of them.
>"It is more hard to us, where [shit that has nothing to do with hard sci-fi]"
thank you todd
They didn't even do the bare minimum quality control in their level design.
For example, on a 0.2 grav planet with no atmosphere, you wouldn't have fucking stairs all around an outpost, and you sure as hell wouldn't have windswept rocks around the mouth of a cave.
If it's not the most basic of obvious shit like this, what even is "hard" sci-fi to them?
No shit anon they literally just copy and pasted prefabs all over. There was no thought put into any of it. You can find lush green grass on planets with 0 oxygen and -60 temps
the same reason why the 100% water planet has no waves when there should be huge waves like the one in interstellar
I wish there would be a hardcode more sim like mode where I could flip all those switches.
there is the nice power minigame
where you distribute the energy even during combact
if you never studied math fuck off from Ganker
>where you distribute the energy even during combact
I know, but I rarely do during combat. I have a good enough reactor and build to just power up the shield, some engines and the rest goes to the weapons.
It was already said by Todd that hardcore mode is coming, one of the scenarios is you getting stranded in space due to running out of Helium-3.
More like STARKfield
The game just ain't there yet. I'm trying to be a no good rapscallion and I find myself concerned 90% what to do with all the garbage resources I collect instead of what I want to do.
Turn off that shitty film grain wtf
Film grain makes everything better, no joke.
Game looks so fucking bland and uninspired. You pajeets are easy to impress.
What about her makes her so fucking hot?
cheerleader syndrome: where there are so many abominations running around she looks good in comparison
>clearly hasn't touched the game
The answer was her voice actress, Hispanicy accent, her always smiling smugly, her own boss giving her a nickname that she's embarrassed over, and the fact that she's your corporate boss.
Her massive jaw that would allow her fit my entire dick and balls in her mouth
Time stands still in a ghost town, but memories never cease their dance.
how come it is all the modern landmarks that would collapse after 10 years without maintenance that survived whatever befell earth, and not the ancient ones that didnt have anyone taking care of them yet survived several millennia?
the ones who fells created a solid base in steel for that building
Instead most of the game is a "realistic" planet full of "realistic" boring nothingness.
a fucked up Big Ben would have been a way better pick tbh
nobody gives a fuck about the shart
yeah what the fuck? non bong here, i was so confused when i saw that. i don't even know what it is. i was expecting big ben or a blown up london bridge or something. not a giant black cock. i thought it was a bug for a mintue and it was the washington monument or something.
Woah.....nothing.....amazing
you said
>anti-fun
if you know science and math like me, you will like discord realistic solution to realistic problem of space exploration.
sadly you will never finish school
>if you know science and math like me, you will like discord realistic solution to realistic problem of space exploration.
what a fucking redditor
>if you know science and math like me
i'd be surprised if you can count to 5 and know the chemical name of water
You still didn't explain why you play such shitty boring walking simulators though
Wypeopo be liek dayuuum this barren empty wasteland be zesty!
This game is made for the Microsoft audience.
>a unironical cow dung eater calling himself anything other than subhuman
loving every laugh
I once unironically saw an Indian share pictures of his own mother asking anons if they thought she was hot, and then asked them how he could go about secretly fattening her up for his own pleasure. Then another Indian came in and shamed him for embarrassing their race. They need to stay in India.
Disregard the word “unironically” it’s 6am and I have a cold.
Dravidians descend from abos
aryans were cauacasoid invaders who raped them and created indians
learn your terminology
Still not buying Todd
pirate it
I'm playing the premium version since the first day of the pre-release
and the update will also come for free because there is no DRM of any kind
Welp I've done everything and didn't pay a single dime. Now what? Guess wait for mods to fix the game?
explore and kill xeno
HOLY SHIT
ROCKS
SAAR LOOK AT POOR MOTHER CHILD GIVE REDEEM THEM
and everyone listed on the 45-minute credits scene clapped
Starfield facts: Starfields planets in the skybox are dynamicly simulated.
>dynamicly simulated
Actually, Todd said they are faking it with the skyboxes.
Source?
Well obviously dont simulate 3d planet at coordinates outside float range you retard
But skyboxes do simulate movement of planets and moons in the system, idk how accurately
It's not, try landing on the tropics of a planet when the sun should be directly above you. Most of the time the sun will be somewhere else rather than where it should be.
i just wanted vats and limbs being shot off and heavy hitting crits. god this sucks
Vats is shit retard
terrible fucking take
Fuck off retard
>fun fact: Oliver Swanick is the only NPC programed to feel pain
i don't know why that shit made me laugh so hard but it did, fucking hell
vats is so fucking kino. We'll never have the level of kino Fo3 and NV provided us ever again.
agreed. I also loved it when a huge crit triggered the cinematic camera, made each playthrough that much more unique
Sometimes I just want vats so I can open up the green pause point n click menu, point on the NPCs boost pack, and watch them get shot up to their death by neck snap into the ceiling as it malfunctions.
Not really for when I want to kill them, just for when I want to see them die in that specific animation because it's funny.
>t
>i wanted fallout
COPE TARD
yes.
This
Zero g gibs and severed limbs would have been kino
>blow up ship
>corpses or bits of corpses sometimes in the wreckage
>colliding with them leaves a blood smear on your windshield
Missed kino...
Wouldn't make it past the censor. This is why we have mods.
I can only hope the code for handling FO4's gibbing and dismemberment is still in
Does the 1911 have a non-unique version?
I don't want to bubba up the gun dad gave me.
Absolutely mental that a 12+ year old game from THE SAME DEVELOPER looks better.
Starfield looks terrible even maxed out and it's really puzzling.
There is no fucking soul.
>There is no fucking Playstation release
>It's so bland!
>It should be le wacky children's imagination sci-fantasy!
Cringe zoomer
The game has no identity.
The only reason we can tell it's starfield in screenshots is because it looks ugly and like it came out ten years ago.
What do you like about the game? What makes it stand out? How does it distinguish itself, in your eyes?
It's easy to critique a position if you never have to take one yourself. Tell me why the game was for you, with as much detail as I gave you.
You know underage retards are the only ones enjoying starflop right?
I don't think OG skyrim looks better, game's still ugly but Bethesda I guess
vanilla skyrim looked like shit for 2011 tol
Starfield looks ugly for a 2013 game, it doesn't even look better than Fallout 4. It looks worse.
It's insane.
>im gonna go on Ganker and post a field of sand littered with rocks
KINOFIELD
>Starfield is the most scientifically grounded in terms of art-direction out of any space RPG ever made.
The length average Toddslopper goes to defend garbage art-direction of Starfield.
UPGRADE YOUR PC TARD
>see that stupid dinosaur?
>you can scan it
>see those rocks?
>you can scan them
>see that never ending expanse of nothing?
>you can walk it until you hit an invisible wall
You can't scan all the rocks Todd pls patch
KINOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
oh the vast emptiness
Picking them shatters the illusion because this is how all "no" dialogue goes.
>we need to do this
>"no"
>*lectures you why saying no was a wrong choice and you must play along"
>dialogue eventually picks up where you would have otherwise picked yes
Here's what happens.
>walk in
>murder every single generic non-essential npc
>essential npcs fall down to the ground
>they stand back up
>they pretend like you've done nothing to them
At least attacking faction members in Skyrim and Fallout 4 got you kicked out.
I swear Bethesda keeps getting worse every single game release.
AHEM
>post chud copypaste
YOU WILL NEVER BE A WOMAN
You will never contribute to a thread in a meaningful way. Fuck off with your chud shit please.
hey great bot post copypasta but that has nothing at all to do with my post you stupid fucking retard
You are not the most intelligent Bethesdrone, are you?
hey cool buzzword and all but you still don't fit in
Your complaint is the lack of an end screen which tells what you did, but the cause and effect of your actions is shown during your walkthrough, not the end screen, which is why this bg3 is so praised.
Starfield is filled not only with false choices, but the choices that aren't doing anything or even acknowledged. But here is the kicker: everything is pointless because of the endless multiuniverse theme.
>ut the cause and effect of your actions is shown during your walkthrough
pfahhahahah
try beating the game you stupid fucking ESL retard. I bet you played on easy, too.
You fuckers straight up LIE about the game and it's hilarious and sad in equal measure
This is just sad, lying about a game you beat, what's the point?
>no u
get a life, ESL shitter. You wouldn't have to eat dirt and rice for dinner if you got work instead of shitting on Ganker all day lying about video games you haven't played
I don't need to have played Starfield to shit on it. One look and I know it's shit. Cope retard
What exactly are you getting out of lying on the internet?
Okay, what happens to Hope?
What happens to the tieflings?
What happens to Astarion running away from the sunlight?
What happens to Wyll's dad?
What happens to Church of Tyr?
What happens to Minsc?
What happens to Jahiera?
I can keep going
but everyone who played the game knows everyone gets exactly the same shitty unfinished barebones garbage ass ending that anyone can look up on Youtube right this second
LITERALLY worse than Mass Effect 3's ending.
you don't understand bro, three lines of dialogue change and the name of the mindflayer who sacrifices themselves changes to either Emperor, Prince Orpheus, or your companion/you
That means the ending is different!
>whatabout
lol bg3 shills are hilariously insecure
I didn't kill anyone in CeltCorp.
It's offensive that Bethesda really thinks walking 2900m to a copy-pasted cave and then 1500m more to a copy-pasted factory is rewarding gameplay.
you don't ever have to walk that far. POIs generate 500-600 away from the landing zone. Make up some other bullshit.
Maybe you should play the game.
maybe you should beat it, like I have. There is even a mod to spread them out more or you could use it to 'make them closer' since you're a spatially challenged moron
You're a complete retard.
Not just wrong, but cocksure in your retardation.
The WORST kind of moron.
YES IT IS
not even worth pirating
not even worth the poster
SOVLVIELD
Is it still shit?
>no asteroid station
>no oneill cylinder
>no cloud city/station
>no volcanoes
>no canyons, lakes, or rivers
>no lava tubes
>no flying through planetary rings
>no tides
>no ship racing, slingshot or otherwise
>no spacewalks
>no diving
this. planets can be far more interesting than these "muh realism" retards understand, even just in our own solar system. they made zero effort to do any of it other than generating some empty land
> asteroid station dlc - 10$
> oneill cylinder dlc - 10$
> no cloud city/station dlc - 10$
> volcanoes dlc - 10$
> canyons, lakes, or rivers dlc - 10$
>lava tubes dlc - 10$
>flying through planetary rings dlc - 10$
>tides dlc - 10$
>ship racing, slingshot or otherwise dlc - 10$
>spacewalks dlc - 10$
>diving dlc - 10$
I'd happily pay all that if it meant Todd keeps working on this beauty for much longer than a usual Bethesda DLC cycle.
ALL FAKE EXCEPT THE VEHICLES
THERE IS A FUCKING MISSION ABOUT AN ASTEROID MINE
mods will fix it
all of them exist except the vehicles
Yeah, i'm thinking it's Starkino
Puller ships are always dumb, your own exhaust plume would buffet your ship all the time.
Yeah but it looks rad
VECTERA HOME
AD ASTRA
>land on snow planet, during a snow storm
>meanwhile all comfy in my ship
it doesn't get any comfier than this

>YOU REVERSED INTO THE SPACE LORRY
>UC armor
how many vaccines you take?
Only pirate scum and/or Freestar bleeding hearts are against a strong government like the UC. Which one are you?
Not strong enough to keep undesirables out.
Not strong enough to defeat farmers with rickety ships.
Not strong enough to tame nature.
What is strong about UC, specifically?
TAKE MY LAND BUT I'M STILL FREE, BECAUSE YOU CAN'T TAKE THE SKY FROM ME
Giga-based
Named my ship Serenity, haven't modeled the ship yet though
do smuggling mission anon
i will do the same the exact moment i will understand how it works
ALSO TOTAL CENTRALIZED DEATH
On what the fuck kinda potato are you playing?
Don't steal that ship
Dayuuuum, that looks like shit! Starjeets, is this REALLY what you're playing?
You will never understand
I'd need a lobotomy to
All the planets looks the same lol. Like you could do whatever the fuck you want with those planets make infinite possibility and yet all the did is make all them barren with some mountains and shit. WOW.
not a single unique planet in 80 hours
STOP COPING
>"exploration"
>same exact cave on every planet
>walk around until you find a crystal formation
>"well done, here's the same amount of money you'd get for helping a retard get a comic book"
Man if that's where the marketing went no wonder the game flopped. Todd should Seriously retire before he gets exposed as a hack
>i made 20 million people buy starfield
>i made 20 million people buy starfield
you seriously don't believe this, right?
are you really that delusional, Fabio?
>Sells good
>Reviews pretty good
Yeah, total flop. Todd will never recover.
Imagine if this game had big, cyberpunk sized cities
Neon
>but muh
Neon can exist only thanks concession from the collective governament in exchange of an industrial and technology output to survive against the UC.
REALISTIC
He said cyberpunk-SIZED he never mentioned anything about neon colors.
literally impossible for bethesda style game.
they prefer more cities then a single 1 all equal like in cyberpunk where 90% of the buildings are useless
fair enough
No one cares about exploring a thousand shitty high rises in cyberpunk, the game isn't about that. Those devs understand that a city is about scale and atmosphere, not looting cybershagpad #3652
>scale
so starfield planet for you a godtier
>but muh
botha planet and cyperpunk city is desolated land with some interest points
The scale of a city, reading comprehension-kun. A city is by definition not an isolated land. And again, you don't need to visit every single hovel in it for it to be interesting (something you provided no counter argument for).
>a
>isolated land
night city is just a city with nothing around it
LOL
Yeah, that's what a city is.
>they prefer more cities
There are 4 cities in Starfield's 1000 planets and the "largest" one has 7 buildings.
Neo Atlantis, Akila, Neon, Paradiso, Cydonia, the russian name one, etc...
is full of them
neo atlantis akila neon and cydonia are the only cities (and ven cydonia really isn't a city it's a mine with some shops)
paradiso is literally 1 building there as a prop for you to do the colony mission
idk what you mean by "russian name one" but if you mean red mile. that's not a city
gagarin
New Atlantis, Akila, and Neon are the only "cities" in the game, and Akila is more like a village. Everywhere else like New Homestead and Cydonia are pretty much just outposts with one shop, one bar, and one area dedicated to residences that you usually can't even enter.
The largest city in the game is just some fallout-style ruins on a planet in Procyon, frozen and overrun by terrormorphs. It's only big for the sake of being an obstacle course (as opposed to just another cave or factory) since it's all nonsensical commieblock apartments scattered everywhere.
>"largest" one has 7 buildings
You've never played the game
How i enter in house Varuun ambassy?
Neon is a miniature oil rig on a water planet you can't land on or do anything else on besides stand on the oil rig and makes no sense lore wise, and it's tiny and looks like shit on top of that.
>people joked about being the Radborn before Fallout 4 came out TEN YEARS AGO
>we get a new -born
We may actually get a Radborn for Fallout 5.
first we will get hammerborn in TES VI
Are there any planets with big forests?
yes but don't expect super dense foilage, it's basically the same as Oblivion or Skyrim forests
savana tier is the best i've seen so far
s
temperate forest with rain and snow
>Starfield sucks, there's nothing to do
Except enjoy the beauty and splendor of God's creations
bro its a video game go the fuck outside you can see this in real life and it wont look so shitty and polygonal
>stole alien designs from Outer Worlds
>stole level up musical hit from Outer Worlds
Why is Todd such a fucking unoriginal hack? I can excuse recycling the whole Dragonborn thing from Skyrim since it's their own IP, but blatantly aping another space RPG? Fucking pathetic.
I think the aliens are randomly generated from parts. ive seen different animals with the same crab head.
WOW A MANTIS ALIEN THEY TOTALLY STOLE THAT COMPLETELY ORIGINAL IDEA!!!
Lol that was just stolen from NMS kek
the scanner/mining laser/ resource and element collection is like someone looked at no mans sky and hastily tried to copy it as quick and dirty as they could
nope is just usefull in the first part of the game.
then you need built outpost to mass extract resourses.
?
its not useful first of all but that's besides the point and has nothing to do with what i said, which is that they directly ripped off and dumbed down the system from NMS and it looks exactly like that's what they did
4k, 67% fsr2, all mid. What's your excuse?
It does look mid as fuck, yea.
>look at this foggy brown shit where you can barely see 2 feet in front of you with absolutely no detail or texture
why did you even take this sceenshot lol
This game was totally made for GenX, right down to the ability to remove Blacks less than week into early launch. Believe me, that shit is rare. We have it now and no amount of chud kvetching about inclusion is going to take it away.
HE IS LITERALLY ME
i play the game on console and don’t understand why you people get this upset over pixels.
go take a shower.
hit the weights
get a clue.
thank god i only play GTA and RDR2 mostly, you freaks are insane
tell me lies
tell me lies
tell me lies
So I just done ransack an elite gala/dinner, went a the GalBank building in New Atlantis, fought a couple of bounty hunter and downloaded a list. In that list there's a couple of GalBank ships that carries credit that was lost somewhere in the galaxy. Only the Legacy and the other ship has their last location available on the list. My question is, can I find the other ship? They said its last signal is near a planet/moon.
no
>troll thread
>snoys ate it
Every. Fucking. Time.
Are we gonna ignore Bethesda stole the ship subsystem energy mechanic down to the UI straight from FTL?
Why is the mantis suit so god damn ugly?
SHUT UP gay
>heres your sprawling metropolis bro
he keeps pretended the game is light on content.
KYS and stfu gay.
the broken English defense of the game is a meme I hope
are replies like this a trap for you when persuading?
do i just have to select a reply with harder difficulty to pass?
The replies don't matter. It's just word salad until you fill the meter and can continue the actual conversation, the only thing that matters there is the color and +# unless the topic has something in [Brackets], which supposedly means it's guaranteed to work.
If you ever get tired of randomly failing one of the harder ones, just auto-persuade to win and skip all the nonsense.
No all of that shit is radiant and doesn't line up with the responses/next dialogue. You literally only have to look at the color for your odds of success and the number to fill the gauge. The text doesn't matter at all. It's all going to work if you succeed the check.
that +1 is kinda funny
I'm not even joking when I say that looks like PS3. Modded New Vegas literally looks better.
To be fair to slopfield the area just outside the lodge with those trees is probably the absolute worst looking place in the entire game. Which is baffling because just about every main story quest starts and ends there.
Starfield's launch was a disaster. It lost millions of dollars and will be lucky to break even before the year is out.
>Steam generally trends as a quarter of game sales vs all other platforms
>steam estimates 1 million sales
>that means 3 million Xbox sales
>2 million gamepass sales
>absolute fucking failure that doesn't make back even half of the 400 million dollar budget
>10 dollars per gamepass sub IF every user bought it specifically for starfield
>49 dollars per steam sale
>70 dollars per Xbox sale
>200 million net in sales
>400 million budget when accounting for marketing
>net 200 million dollar loss
Kek
20 million unites sold
just KYS
Source, moron?
Nice spellcheck, Raj. You're really earning those ren rupees a week.
not even counting marketing and promotion and shit like renting out auditoriums to do their directs and shit like that lololol
Todd absolutely demolished
Why does EVERY western entertainment all have millenial writing? It's fucking ridiculous at this point.
tell em a single bit of millenial writing?
WHERE THE SOCIALIST COMMUNE?
WHY RGIHT WINGERS LIBERTARIAN WON THE WAR?
WHY RELIGION EXIST?
cmo anon
>where is the socialist commune
new atlantis is a UN corpo commieblock with armed military officers patrolling and scanning you every time you enter or exit the city and they're the "good" guys
NOPE
GLOBOHOMO WITH PRIVATE PROPRIETY
A REALISTIC COMMIE GARBAGE NOT THE COMMIE GARBAGE MILLENIALS WANTS.
>good guys
if you bring Sam Coe to the UC museum he will debunk all their propaganda
This game was made by and for Gen X. Those ideals used to actually mean something in the 80s and 90s. Know your place.
Because EVERY piece of western media is written by california village people who don't know what human beings act or talk like
>me and escorted old man heading to some cartoon villain CEO's office by elevator in Neon

>loot the entire building

All the Constellation missions felt like a fever dream in the Marvel universe, just completely bizarre and far removed from the tone and quality of the rest of the factions' writing and mission design.
I honestly hate that I finished this game. The main quest was so fucking bad I'll never forgive or forget it.
What are the odds Starfield never gets a sequel?
Why does EVERY jap entertainment all have millenial writing? It's fucking ridiculous at this point.
>it's another "WHITE MAN'S GAME" discord thread
I TRIED SO HARD.
I usually play the moralfag in games like this but occasionally I want to be the baddy.
infinite money from raiding ships is bad?
WHAT?

i know what you mean, but it doesn't really "punish" you because the game is made for adults with toddler brains and the consequences don't mean a fucking thing. you're right in that it's set up specifically for you to be a good guy knight in shining armor or at absolute WORST a robin hood, but it doesn't "punish" you beyond your companions getting mad and leaving you for a day. even then, they come right back. i had barrett freak out at me because I blew up a freestar ship that found my contraband and I said if you don't like it then leave. the game even said barrett was permanently leaving my group. about 2 in game days later I got a notification saying barrett was no longer mad at me and is available as a companion again.
true, but i want to kill NPCs and have more dynamic faction alignments. the only NPCs you can actually even kill are nameless shitbags that just land you bountys.
because ESG garden gnomes hate morals and want to make the entire world morally gray irl
I have a very modest pc that doesn't hit the minimum requirements for Starfield
BUT I THINK I might be able to run it using the POTATO mod and a lower windowed resolution
I already got the disk space in another ssd so don't worry about that.
SHOULD I TRY or it's going to be a waste of time? I'm asking because my internet is pretty shit right now and will take a good while to download
PIRATE ANON
if you can't run it at least a medium then spend 100 dollalrs is madness
oh I'm not paying for it, I already have a gamepass membership I got from my friend kek
okay anon, I'm going for it, I'm going for the (heavy pixelated) starts
it's a waste of time in that the game is bad but cyri is full of shit and most games will at least run if you try it. and it has the copescaling built into the game itself so you can just run it at 540p and upscale like the series X does
what spaceship weapons am i supposed to be using to start targetting engines?
you have to waste a perk point on the targeting systems perk
>private property
>you literally aren't allowed to own property there without mandatory military service
>even then you're only allowed to over pay for a tiny shoe box apartment
You're a stupid person
>you have to waste a perk point on the targeting systems perk
i know but for some reason even after shield killin, my weapons werent doing any engine damage unless they were already damaged and i coulda boarded them and i fucked up
you have to be careful not to damage them too much. usually just stay behind them and wear the shields down with lasers, the hit engines specifically with cannon fire. if you've knocked their shields off already and done significant damage to the hull, a lot of the times you'll end up making a killing blow trying to knock the engines. adds a little nuance to the space battles. speaking off, does anyone know what triggers the zero g boarding actions? those are usually a lot of fun but i can't figure out what causes them. do you have to knock the grav drive out too?
Yeah you take out the grav drive, that also kills their antigrav inside the ship

>eat button for food
But does it also have other context sensitive options like read for notes/tablets/books without picking them up?
every motherfucker ive seen playing this game has had the same progress, with little variation
they all end up with that shitty potato sack on their head
they all did the mantis HQ, the floating paradiso ship, and a few other things, mostly in the same order
this game is 100% for fucking brainlets to think their experience is unique or random or anything but the same shit as everyone else

Up my ass
Join the gang in Neon.
Wait what armor actually is better than the mantis set cause Im level 28 and still running that shit, havent really come across anything better. I will say though that I still havent touched the main quest besides having Sarah tagging along and Ive just been sidetracked constantly since she introduced me to Tuala.
I'm done with the game.
I'll wait until the creation kit comes out so I can overhaul the game into something good
empty
New update dropped. Seems to run better, but it's hard to tell because my rig isn't shit. It's even got Nvidia copeframes now.
Oh I didn't think the update was dropping today
