It was packaged with the deluxe edition so they have to push it out the door eventually.
I hope after its release they announce that they are not going to make any future content for Starfield and release another Elder Scroll 6 pre-rendered teaser garbage to distract their fanboys while also reminding them that it is indeed still in development.

The choices are literally "play the game as it was intended or miss out on half the content". Even the ending to the main quest is just picking a dialogue option, the choices you make just give you more options. I want to be locked into a specific ending depending on what I did throughout the game, why is that so hard to do?

            >remember PL
Sure, but here's the thing. For devs to actually turn the ship around, they have to acknowledge they fricked up.
Meanwhile Bethesda is still going on about how much the fans love the game despite nobody playing.
As long as they don't come out and say they fricked up and will focus on fixing it, nothing is going to happen.

Todd has divine rule over the company and what they work on, apparently.
He and his buds wanted to make Starfield, so we got Starfield. Nobody above them in the hierarchy said “okay find a different director for TES6 and develop in parallel”. Nope. Todd is the only guy allowed to run anything. Which is fricking sad because TES6 desperately needs competent, down-to-nirn writers / devs who are also fans of the series to be in charge of it at this point, because the old guys have clearly lost their touch.

If Bethesda wants to take that route, they can throw free copies of Fallout 4 GOTY edition or 6 months of free gamepass into the face of every dumbass that bought the deluxe or dlc. It would be topical too since that terrible looking Amazon tv series is also releasing soon.

Season pass was given free to everyone who bought the base game for free dumbo. Dead Kings for example is free for all the versions of the game:

Chronicles China turned into it's own game I think. I don't remember if it was still included in season pass or not.

Nothing was made for Unity after Dead Kings, Secrets of The Revolution, or the various shitty weapon dlc. Furthermore only Dead Kings was given away for free as an update. You're completely incorrect that they "gave away the season pass for free". Furthermore, it doesn't even contradict the previous statement of "season pass also promised shit. Ubisoft cancelled future content", it enforces it.
Only thing I got wrong was that Ubisoft gave away games as a pseudo refund and didn't allow refunds for the season pass itself.

TOS are almost never fully enforceable they're just basically never litigated. Bethesda were facing a class action lawsuit for false advertising with the """canvas bag"""" debacle for FO76, idk why people are pretending they could just abandon the game and do nothing.

The debacle was a total clown show but they did end up eventually shipping out bags to avoid getting sued, the DLC for Starfield will definitely come out at some point the question is if it's gonna be horse armor tier garbage or actually a proper expansion

I think their engine is probably in the same state of warscape engine. Every change is hard and cause cascading effects. Just a mass pile of technical debt. It makes every attempt to add and change things an uphill battle.

They really need to make a new engine fricking badly but I'm seriously starting to doubt that they even have the technical knowhow to do that at this point. If TES VI is still running on a modified Creation Engine shit's going to suck a hot fricking dick.

Stop getting your opinions from morons on the internet, you frick. Creation 2 is as much Gamebryo as Source 2 is GoldSRC. This idea that Bethesda games would be automatically improved if they were made in UE4 is hilarious.

Pic related. Also Bethesda's employees said shit like
                >"I'm particularly speaking to the usability of the engine not the capability of it, those are two different things. For example unreal and unity are very user friendly while CryEngine is a pain in the ass but its very powerful."
It's a sentiment recently shared by Skyblivion's devs on stream for example, or Skywind's when they recently revamped Levitation to make it work just like it did in Morrowind. The engine is fine and takes care of shit people take for granted in Bethesda's games like mod support or NPC schedule packages or every single object in the world being pickable and having physics and the idea you could drop a quiver of iron arrows in a hallway, come back 200 hours later and it'd still be there. The real problem is Bethesda's nepotistic employees and bleeding talent over the years so now no one knows how to do shit.

Bethesda is the best proof that more Devs does not equal better game, starfield is supposedly their biggest game but it feels the smallest with the leafy amount of content and it had 5x the Devs compared Skyrim. Just compare new Atlantis to the imperial city, "biggest city we've ever created" my ass

          >Bethesda is the best proof that more Devs does not equal better game
What's funny is that Bethesda is a small as frick company. People read "Bethesda is a AAA company" and they imagine they have Ubisoft or Bioware or Rockstar numbers but they're only 400 people. For AAA games that's nothing. So they can't be as ambitious as something like RDR2 and that game having been in development for eight years pushing everyone and everything to its limits, but likewise they can't seem to help themselves in doing nothing but get worse at making the same style of game they've been making since 2002. It's wild. Absolute mismanagement of their time and IPs. Reminds me of how peak Obsidian right after New Vegas before all the people that actually made that game left asked Bethesda to do another New Vegas-tier spin-off but for TES but they were denied because Bethesda is obsessed with keeping things "in house"... but they don't have the quality or care to show for it. It's ogre.

They're going back to the drawing board and readding everything people actually like about bethesda games, it will still remain a very sterile nothing setting but at least the settlements will have NPCs with lives and personalities again

I think maybe I would have been slightly more tolerant of the lack of unique NPCs if I hadn't turned the crowd density to minimum, I did then upgrade my PC and the first time I saw neon was post upgrade with it maxed out and it seemed slightly less bad, but by that point I hated the game too much to go check out the other cities with it maxed, and even then I would still have rathered have the uniques instead.

    >implying they didnt completly abandon starfield after the launch shitshow and now there is only a skeleton crew that's working on starfield.
It's still amazes me that people expect some kind of revival like no man's sky and cybperpunk had from bethesda with starfield.
This is bethesda we are talking about, skyrim had bugs in it that where around since morowind that modders patched out every time but bethesda could not be bothered with to fix.
They dont give a frick, they already moved on from starfield and are making new and creative ways to frick up the next elder scrolls.

They didn't expect Skyrim to blow up and become this industry behemoth as much as they did. Todd confessed in the Lex Fridman interview that Fallout 4 took longer than planned because they decided to support Skyrim more than expected. Maybe originally its DLCs were smaller in scope and Fallout 4 would've come out in 2014. He also said in that same interview that if he could go back in time he would've released TES 6 already and that he doesn't like the way things turned out with that title taking so much (the interview was pre-Starfield release so it's funny watching it with context because you can tell Starfield was being in development hell behind the scenes and taking years longer than it was supposed to)

This is what I've been saying. They could just drop everything and became a dedicated Skyrim company forever and do fine. Like they could be working to make the game easier to mod by creating better public tools plus expanding on the base game itself. It might not be the best public image for them to just work on the same game forever but it would definitely make money. They tried to do this kinda with the creation club bullshit but that stuff is just silly official mods. Skyrim should be turned into a modding platform in a way. You shouldn't have to use a bunch of 3rd party programs to import a simple animation or something. They could really streamline it, create official plugins for blender and shit. It could be huge. Skyrim is sitting at 25,000 players right now on steam, which some new AAA games fail to even reach. Imagine what it could be if modding it wasn't such a hassle.

starfield should have been this. a gmod for single player roleplaying games that allows modders to use any of the million different empty planets as a sandbox for storytelling and new features. this would allow modders to 'claim' a planet to work on. the current story just acts as an example and a hub to access community driven content + a way to reset the world in a lore friendly way when you want to add new mods.

Two years after Skyrim's release, R* would strike gold with GTAO. They really did miss one of the biggest opportunities in the industry not even kidding. All these projects being made at the moment aka Skywind, Skyblivion, Beyond Skyrim... they could've been made by Bethesda in a fraction of the time and sold officially. Or as said before ITT, let Obsidian make New Vegas: TES Edition. Even the idea of CC wasn't bad in principle but the pricing was. 400 credits aka 4 bucks for one (1) weapon is deplorable. Also when it started the CC's selection of Creations was pretty limited which just highlighted the bad pricing. If they had released Skyrim's CC before Fallout 4's, *and* it came out for starters with some of the best Creations like Fishing or Farming, *and* they were all priced lower so as to build goodwill (ie make ALL weapons and armors cost only the minimum 100 credits, leave higher prices for actual game changing mechanics or dungeons) then it'd probably be seen much better. People love Skyrim even if many don't like to admit it, getting new "official" Bethesda content in 2011+6 of quality like mini-DLCs akin to what CDPR did with TW3 or Cyberscam would've printed money. Instead they fricked up first by not expecting Skyrim to be as huge as it was (which to be fair they can't be blamed, NO ONE could've predicted just how huge Skyrim would become), then they fricked up with Steam's paid mods in 2015, then with Fallout 4's CC being bottom of the barrel trash, then with Fallout 76 being predatory slop, then with Skyrim's CC taking four years to ""get good"" and even then still having terrible pricing. It never stood a chance.

The blood on the doorposts will be a sign to mark the houses in which you live. When I see the blood, I will pass over you and will not harm you when I punish the Egyptians. You must celebrate this day as a religious festival to remind you of what I, the LORD, have done. Celebrate it for all time to come.” The LORD said, “For seven days you must not eat any bread made with yeast — eat only unleavened bread. On the first day you are to get rid of all the yeast in your houses, for if anyone during those seven days eats bread made with yeast, he shall no longer be considered one of my people. On the first day and again on the seventh day you are to meet for worship. No work is to be done on those days, but you may prepare food. Keep this festival, because it was on this day that I brought your tribes out of Egypt. For all time to come you must celebrate this day as a festival. From the evening of the fourteenth day of the first month to the evening of the 21st day, you must not eat any bread made with yeast. For seven days no yeast must be found in your houses, for if anyone, native-born or foreign, eats bread made with yeast, he shall no longer be considered one of my people.” Moses called for all the leaders of Israel and said to them, “Each of you is to choose a lamb or a young goat and kill it, so that your families can celebrate Passover. Take a sprig of hyssop, dip it in the bowl containing the animal's blood, and wipe the blood on the doorposts and the beam above the door of your house. Not one of you is to leave the house until morning. When the LORD goes through Egypt to kill the Egyptians, he will see the blood on the beams and the doorposts and will not let the Angel of Death enter your houses and kill you. You and your children must obey these rules for ever.

It is, it just feels small because there's not enough NPC home interiors to explore to make it feel like people are actually living in it, not to mention another part of the city is underground. NA in a sense feels like it's just a huge shopping mall.

Probably no need to expand any further since people can barely even get in New Atlantis itself. According to the Vanguard questline, getting citizenship in New Atlantis requires regular people to wait 10+ years before they're even allowed to partake residence there. Most people probably said frick it and decided to live in other cities, smaller settlements, or in space.

          Anonymous

On another note, when you do eventually get your citizenship, the only home you can obtain before completing the Vanguard questline is some shithole underground, that's even more reason why people probably wouldn't want to live in NA. Keeping the city small and at full capacity might be intentional to keep the violent shitheads like the Crimson Fleet and Ecliptics out, kinda like a gated community.

I thought that too but if the plebs don't have access to the creation kit how will they hire new modders to make paid mods? If you need a portfolio of mods to apply then the creation kit needs to be publically available

The program doesn't require you to know how to use the creation kit or to put mods in your portfolio.
For example, if you are good with 3D models (like sci-fi weapons), they will accept you. You still need to learn how to use the CK in order to turn your goofy space revolver into a Big Iron In Space creation and give it the low price of 599 Todd Dollars, but they are ok with you learning how to do it after the application.

The game is literally no different at any point in it so it doesn't really matter if you stopped at the tutorial or 500 hours into it. It's the same empty soulless blandness and lacking gameplay from start to finish, nothing changes or improves.

I played the entire game in around 240 hours and I still don't care and don't want to see anything new from this homosexual studio ever again

I literally stopped and got the game refunded after 3 hours, yes. It was really that bad.

        >3 hours
Sadly that's were Bethesda fricked over most people attempting this game, it's a slow burner type of experience where much of it's content is locked behind 500+ hours of gameplay. Remember when Todd said that Starfield was designed to be played for years? Yeah he wasn't kidding, you need the patience of a saint to really get into this.

What content is locked behind 500+ hours? I played around 50 hours and did the main quest, all the faction quests and a few side quests

Lots of skills and crafting options are tied to the progression, I literally just got to level 200 a few days ago and still haven't unlocked everything yet, not to mention I keep discovering new POIs, events and areas. Much of the game's difficulty and dialogue content is locked behind NG+ as well, there's also random chances for events at the Lodge to occur after starting NG+, such as a multiverse counterpart of yourself murdering everyone at Constellation, or an adult Cora Coe trying to kill you to get revenge for her father.

The more i think about Starfield the more it feels like this whole game is just product of "writer room brainstorming".
None of that shit makes a better game, it just sounds cool in some stupid writer head.

Cool was probably not what they were going for in a normalgay sense. Game feels like it's intended as an Gankergay's paradise with some Ganker and Ganker thrown into the mix, with a strong usage of philosophies when it comes to the latter.

I played 30 hours, explored the entirety of New Atlantis, literally entered every building, rescued Barrett Andreja and went to Akila with Sam, then just dropped the game where I was about to join the UC. It was boring, anon. BORING.

I literally did the whole military, space pirates and the hag's romance thing and went ahead with the main story up until saving the bank on the second companion first quest, and oh boy, not a single moment I had any fun.
And the worst part is that now I have to interact with a character in the special forces of that planet that literally has no face, and has had no face since the game launched until last month.

Emilio was going to frick it up beyond all recognition anyway, but with the gays involved, this is going to be a complete trainwreck. And a bigger disaster than shitfield because TES gays are going to be up in arms over how much shit they retcon or twist and turn the whole thing into a gayming gayfest.

From what I've heard. There's a team currently working on fixing shit from player feedback and another team working on the story expansion.

That's true actually, the devs have a dedicated Discord for player feedback, they're probably not listening to people from the Steam page since they just have bots replying to negative reviews.

Did they learn anything for Starfield from Fallout 4? I was gonna say "besides the super obvious one about not having a voiced protagonist" but even that one would be wrong because Starfield started development with the voice actors for Sam Coe and Andreja voicing the male and female protagonist before they scratched the idea... even though it shouldn't have been an idea to begin with.
