That's not really what the have is about. At the end of the day planets are glorified resource nodes and potential place to build a house, you don't need to see it all flying around especially as there's 1000 of them to go to
Is it? Because Scam Shitizen has almost no one playing it outside of a few thousand dedicated boomer whales and the “game” currently available to play is still essentially non functional
Absolute shit fucking take. A planet is a planet, not a mine node or some big storage facility. If you are not gonna bother exploring or making exploration exciting then why bother having more than 2 or 3 planets?
Are people really convinced that if they cut out every star system that didn't contain a hub city the game would somehow magically be good?

Exploration of what exactly? This game is so soulless, so slop-tier, that it makes me kek.

The main story sent me to that same underground ice base twice to collect artifacts, every point of interest is copy and pasted unless it's a unique base with a name you haven't seen discoverable via slate or side quest. Even the faction quests reuse these locations so you can't escape it.

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FLY AROUND AND IT SHOULD BE EXCITING TO DO SO. BOTH OF THESE ARE REQUIRED.

not to mention there's no such thing
"nasapunk" or "general motors punk" or whatever already has a word for it and its just "Realism"
"NASAPunk" just describes the games semi-industrial enviornments. Thats it. Its just an aesthetic thing.
generate a huge planet and ty to lad on it someday on SE with all mods that makes it look like starfield later, you will hate every second of it while trying to land
I mean, yeah I see it happening. But I also see it being implemented like shit, like dragon mounting was in Skyrim. Only thing that gives me hope is modding.
I'll give you graphics, exploration, and mining
but the story in NMS doesn't exist
the combat is fucking terrible. There are like 5 different weapons and they're all pretty much irrelevant because combat is super gay.
flight combat is worse. they have an autoaim option where you just hold back and lmb and win every fight. there's no strafing, you don't power individual system, and again there are like 5 weapons and they're all equally uninteresting.
flight over planets is okay and between places is fine, I guess. It literally just replaces starfields menu with "hold spacebar to zoom zoom" but it's still cooler than a menu.
>but the story in NMS doesn't exist
LOL >the combat is fucking terrible
kinda >flight over planets is okay and between places is fine
it would be the best part of the game if they rebalanced maneuverability and speed
Oh please, it's "get to the center of the universe and help artemis and also there's a scary red thing oh and when you're done you can get to the center of the universe again!"
It's like the same plot of starfield but with less quests, dialogue, npcs, etc.
Just get into flight simulator it's realistic only dummies care about flying a spaceship it would be a whole different genre get into pmdg 737 super realistic
Hell the game can hanlde danicnspeed what a pathetic excuse of no vehicles when the cursed chud vegas mod the frontier had vehicles and even space fight with gamebryo KEK
The ships have non-centrifugal artificial gravity. Mankind has achieved mastery over gravity. Therefore, wings are unnecessary. Also, if the planet's atmosphere isn't extremely hot, the thrusters heat up less than in space because in space there is no medium for heat to conduct into.
it would just be loading screens anyway as your ship traverses an entire tile in 10 seconds
the real problem is that they're STILL using an engine which can only load discretes cells instead of streaming like literally every single modern game.
fucking hell i hated this song because the media group at my highschool turned it into like a school theme song or some shit so people were spam singing it every single day for months afterward. fucking hated it.

(You) say it doesn’t matter
You know, I didn't know that, I haven't played too far in the game, but I did see someone talking about landing really close to New atlantis to see it in the distance
You can, but four is the maximum player made landing zones you can have. Not that it matters, planets have very specific enviroments and it really does not matter where you land, you are going to find the same stuff. Planet landing is just busy work.
You can. It only saves the state of 4 landing zones at a time on a planet by default though because otherwise there would be insane save bloat. You can increase that limit in the game's settings file at your own risk.
That anon is sort of "lying", you can only have 4 REMEMBERED landing zones. You can land on any pixel on the planet and it will generate a new seed based on the features of said landing zone. Once you landed four times, you can land again but the oldest landing zone gets erased. I understand why they did that and it's honestly a smart way to do things rather than downgrade everything to a lesser fidelity.
>it's honestly a smart way to do things rather than downgrade everything to a lesser fidelity.
People always say this about Bethesda coming up with "clever" tricks to fix their incredibly retarded engine design and programming, rather than shitting on them for having to hack in solutions to problems they created out of their own incompetence in the first place.
Yeah, coming up with a train hat was a neat workaround... for a problem that wouldn't have existed at all if their engine had features in it that fucking super mario bros had in the late 80s (moving objects moving the player with them)
Yeah, coming up with a way to clear old landing zones and limting the player is a better workaround to their engine shitting itself when the world gets too big... which it shouldn't if you're using said engine to make a fucking PLANET EXPLORATION game.
What is wrong with you fucking retards?

The only valid reason for still using Gamebryo is that they have made their own SDK for it which makes the production of content very efficient. All of the different dependencies of things you can find in an Elder Scrolls game are implemented. That's why New Vegas took such a short time to make.
Bethesda just can't bring themselves to investing in a new engine that doesn't have the limitations of their current one, because they'd have to reprogram all of the SDK stuff into it. That would be work. That would be like developing a game. Bethesda doesn't make games. Bethesda makes mods for Morrowind.

When did I say that you immense dipshit? I said they're incompetent programmers who can't even add basic shit into their engine. The engine needs a big overhaul for a procgen planet exploration game to let it handle dynamically clearing unused areas from memory or refactoring to how it stores data. If they can't realistically fix these issues then yes they need to throw the engine out because it makes their game a complete impossibility to realize. Instead they just shit out a half-assed attempt at making a procgen game that compromises away every single benefit of procedural generation and their fans will excuse them for it. Imagine playing a game that has all the problems of procgen design without ANY of the benefits and defending it. Fucking pathetic.
Yeah you get the point, 4 chunks are stored in your save file but the terrain of the whole planet is always possible to explore. That's how I understand it at least.
Anonymous
So, why not just let you explore freely, and purge the oldest chunk you've explored when you enter your 5th chunk on one planet? Or better yet, why not just code their game better so that having more than 4 chunks on one planet doesn't somehow crash your game for no reason?
nah pirates are the best people to get an opion from because they usually dont have a loyalty to a paltform/publisher or whatever and also wont cope with bad games to try and make up for the fact theyve wasted money
Yes, better listen to people that blindly consume the product and then feel like they need every single cent they spent to justify their retarded purchases in gameplay lmao. Your buyers remorse is hilarious.
Scan them before you walk there dumbass. If a planet only has 1 trait and your scan shows up loads of natural, anomaly or signs of life type waypoints in a single LZ then they're all going to be the same.
Literally walking and driving ON THE FUCKING MOON AN OBJECT OF HUMAN WORSHIP SINCE THE DAWN OF TIME is not the same as driving a reskinned horse in Fallout 5.
Have you PLAYED Elite Dangerous? That shit is fucking boring. They added planetary content and people were excited for exactly 1 day before they realized there wasn't actually anything to do on planets besides drive around and look at vast nothingness. Then they added the ability to walk around and again people were excited for exactly 1 day before they realized its the same shit but slower. That finally got the fanbase to get fed up with the game and its review scores tanked, active players tanked, and development tanked. Its a game primarily about flying ships and they haven't released a new ship in more than 5 years.
And even Elite doesn't let you actually "fly" from one location to another. You have to go through "witch space", which is just a loading screen for the next solar system.
it's still just you in space, but now there's yellow line everywhere.
oh and you still have to wait till you get there, meanwhile in starfield i finished my fast travel.
The only thing it needs is in-system flights and more space station and battles.

I'm saying that hyperspace in elite dangerous is boring, no matter how you name it.
Star trek online somehow managed to be a better space game.
Anonymous
Hyperspace is just a loading screen. What the fuck do you want from a loading screen?
Just let the player fly.
The planets can then be big and mostly empty while also making it reasonable for the player to find points of interest.
This is the best solution and works for everyone.
That's exactly it. If the Home Ship unloads, the game fucks itself and dies. Invisible walls are put up to prevent the player from moving so far away that the ship unloads.
What happens if you walk in a straight line and bypass the boundaries and somehow prevent the game from crashing? Do you eventually circle back around?
This actually makes it worse though, because knowing that, it makes it seem like they just slapped the borders on because they couldn't figure out how to prevent loading too much of the planet from crashing people's games.
How the fuck does Elite manage to do it?
You can walk around the entire planet and nothing will crash on you, you can ever send your ship back to space or have it follow you around
Because Elite Dangerous' engine is functionally made for this sort of shit from the ground up, as is No Man's Sky. They're explicitly titles designed from the ground up to accentuate both space and planetary travel. Bethesda functionally put spaceships on top of Fallout 4, which was built on top of Skyrim, which was built on top of Fallout 3 and Oblivion, which were built on top of fucking Morrowind. They're running an engine designed for cell-by-cell RPG games where players aren't expected to move all that fast and can only do so much travel before it tries to transition between cells, in a system never made for planet-sized worldly travel.
Starfield is functionally pushing an engine far, far beyond what it was ever built for, calling it Creation Engine 2 and calling it a day. Bethesda have always been ambitious but shit programmers, and literal decades of bad programming habits are eating away at the kneecaps of this game.
that's not what was said retard
clearly the engine being built on building blocks from 20 fucking years ago that still has the same issues and bugs it's had for years is gonna be a problem, stop excusing the billion dollar dev that has more than enough time and money to fix it

im not sure if a new engine would even be a good thing despite their current one being inefficient or whatever is making it run like shit bethesda games have a certain feel to them that definitely comes from the engine and i dont know if theyd be able to have a the same thing in a newer one. im sure they could rewrite massive parts of it with modern techniques and keep it feeling the same though i guess we will just have to wait for it to get so bad that that have no choice but to do a lot of engine work ;-;
>How the fuck does Elite manage to do it?
Because it doesn't have a zillion individual objects with their own physics cluttering the place. That's pretty much the creation engines greatest trick and biggest weakness, there's no way to pull that off without using cells.
>because they couldn't figure out how to prevent loading too much of the planet from crashing people's games.
its likely only like this due to the xbox, the game uses a low amount of vram on pc, the xbox only has about 6gb of vram
Name an engine they should switch to then that'd be better at what Bethesda does.
Wait you can't! You just rehash "CHANGE THE ENGINE" memes unreal trannies spew.

>Source couldn't do half the shit that starfield would require it to do.

Realtime lighting. Source, even Source 2 requires precalculation for lighting. Source doesn't do dynamic lighting or dynamic atmospheres. Source also doesn't do anything for NPC schedules - all the AI stuff is geared towards making things work on a fight, and since HL Alyx they've made it even less AI driven and more reliant on placed markers. World scale. Source still has a limit on the max size of areas, and runs into floating point problems if you get too far from the world origin. And it also can't process NPCs or objects that aren't on the current map. I could go on.

who do you think is going to code the new engine for them without turning it into absolute ass as they will? and why do you think microsoft will allow them to create a free, open modding platform on it again, esp. knowing the platform will be used to destroy their diversity virtue signaling again?
a new engine will be 1000 times worse, since their current coders are incompetent monkeys. it'll be a miracle if the game even boots.
The engine peaked with Morrowind. Every subsequent release by Bethesda has been making compromises for it since. City exteriors in Oblivion being put behind loading screens and the removal of levitate showed us that it was never going to get any better.
>could just load and drop cells as you travel between them >item permanence literally has no meaning or purpose >can still have all the dumb base building bullshit as countless other sandbox games have proven
bethesda is retarded and will never learn, they could so easily play to their strengths, and still acknowledge where progress has occurred int he industry, but they're totally blind.
Why is there no dismemberment, would have been a lot better then the pointless ship fly mechanic, and why’s there so much loading screens in 2023? And why dose every game made in the past decade suck and falls way short of what they promise?
>ackshually, there is real space travel, it just takes literal hours to get anywhere >ackshually, you can explore an entire planet, you just have to get past the boundaries of the intended play area
It's becoming pretty evident starfield was originally planned to be more similar to something like no man's sky. I wonder when it was that they gave up on making it work and scaled the game back to what was shipped.
that's hilarious. So the only reason for the invisible walls was so players don't actually get lost on a planet and they couldn't think of a better implementation to get the player back to the ship than block their path with invisible walls.
it's even better
they can't allow players to "load up too much planet" because their shitty engine can't properly manage assets, so it keeps loading shit until it crashes
It'd be fine if you faced consequences for being a snarky bitchboi. Like if you do it to a drunk in a bar he draws a gun on you and starts screaming about his dead wife's funeral, or the captain tells you he won't part with the artifact unless you pay 10k credits for it because you've been so rude to him.
>the engine can't handle loading a landmass this big >it also can't handle dumping shit from memory dynamically >We have to pen the player in and force them to go through a "loading screen" where we delete the oldest terrain tile
It's XBox Morrowind all over again where they intentionally crash the game and relaunch it entirely every time you go through a door.
>It's XBox Morrowind all over again where they intentionally crash the game and relaunch it entirely every time you go through a door.
I shouldn't believe this, but I do.
Xbox Morrowind did that too? I remember that Thief Deadly Shadows and Deus Ex Invisible War intentionally crashes the executable and relaunches it every time you hit a loading screen.
Yeah it's actually a trick Microsoft suggested for developers who wanted to flush memory. It's to be used sparingly but an open world game like Morrowind needed to do that a lot to try to get as much out of the console's limited RAM as possible.
Xbox Morrowind did that too? I remember that Thief Deadly Shadows and Deus Ex Invisible War intentionally crashes the executable and relaunches it every time you hit a loading screen.
even if he died with Starfield enthusiasm in his hear, he deserved better than this karma farming reddit eulogy. neglecting his degree to put in honest hours and imparting kindness with minimal dialogue, sounds pretty based. probably would have been disappointed in starfield
Yes, what’s saddest is there’s no outcry over his death outside this little plebbet post because he was white. The brown pice of shit was arrested for a drive by shooting and released just a year ago.
>guy gets killed in some small town 7/11 >at least 300 people terminally on reddit know him and half of them interacted with him that day
What are the odds?!
Fallout 76's landmass is about four times the scale of Fallout 4.
A Starfield landing zone is allegedly somewhere between the size of 4 and 76. It can hold about four landing zones before it deletes the oldest one. If you go running around the planet, it starts risking a crash after you start having more than four loaded.
Naw, the biggest difference between the Series S and X is the GPU so you could just lower the graphics settings to below 1080p to get it to run at 30 fps. The CPU is similar so it wasn’t holding back what they wanted to do. The real problem is they’re shitty coding. The engine isn’t the problem. It’s just that Bethesda can’t code
We always knew that. The terrain being contiguous is not a question, it's the fact that we have to get into our ship and land somewhere else to load a new tile instead of just being able to fucking walk there. Would it have been so hard to just trigger a loading screen at the border instead of telling us to go back?
>The terrain being contiguous is not a question,
Because it isn't. Go to the corner of a cell facing outside of it, and take a picture. Get in your ship, and land in the next cell over, and go to that same cell corner, turn around, and look in the same direction as your picture. The contents of your cell when you are in it are completely different than the contents when you are outside it looking in.
It's similar with planets in a star system. They all exist in the same worldspace, and if you fast travel to one planet (talking orbits, not surfaces) you could fly to another and all of the things around it (asteroids, ships, stations) load in normally and you can scan its resources/place landing zones etc. - everything is as if you had fast traveled there. But the distances are so vast that the only way to actually do this in practice is with console commands to increase ship speed by 1000x or more. Movement also gets a bit glitchy after moving really far from wherever you last loaded.
Why did they bother wasting resources and processing power on this design when in practice it is meaningless? My theory is that it's just bait for modders so that they can get headlines in a year like "fan makes seamless space travel mod" to get back into public awareness for no effort on their part.
I'm sure I saw some youtube video of someone landing in a tile next to the city and he could not see the city anywhere when he walked up to the border where it should be.
The icon for the city actually overlaps all the nearby areas and then some, so you couldn't physically click close enough to see the city without first hiding the icon with console commands. The bigger the planet the more precise you need to click to get a specific area, since it's more zoomed out to fit on screen than a small moon for example.
Yeah, that may explain it. I just checked and found a video where the guy explains he had to deactivate the city icon, then landed near it and was able to walk to it. So there's that.
Cool. In 10 years when there will be: >seamless on-plannet travel >seamless interplanetary travel >fully usable ship inside the atmosphere >intelligent aliens and alien companions >space economy >actual fuel use instead of "you need fuel tank this large" that refills on arrival >meaningful resources >de-moronisaton >sarah unhag mod >andreja hottification mod
I might check it out
>sub playable fps >no more than 1 second without a stutter >multiple second long freezes >ends in a crash >windows loading wheel mouse >doesnt even prove its point
Is this the perfect video for a starfield thread?
I don't care. I've written Starfield off already. A bland, utterly boring game. I want better games than this and anyone saying "man wait till the mods fix it" can fuck off.
this just proves
They massively downgraded the fame
They still lied
This actually proves they lies as THEY DID intend and promise completely wrapped spheres for worlds with seamless travel on them.
This is class action lawsuit worthy. >mfw Bethdrone morons prove Bethesda lied and released a substantially different product than promised
I am telling you, someone will make a mod so planets and space are linked so you will be able to land without a loading screen. I dunno if there will be actual function to manually land tho, but I am sure the loading screen can be skipped. Still don't know why this is such a big deal for people.
This can absolutely be done, it will only require five times the hardware requirements to get it working. If people haven't realize yet it's ALWAYS the consoles that are the bottlenecks.
It'd have been more work for Bethesda not to generate the maps as a fixed 2d grid of tiles and have it wrap around near the extremeties, otherwise you'd have players bitching about "I parked my ship 10 feet away from this specific location and it generated a whole new area".

As usual, OP is a gay for not linking the whole series of videos, and the gaming "press" are even bigger gays, taking what is essentially a theory and running with it as fact, without doing any fact checking of their own, meaning everyone believes something that is outright false.
The game doesn't crash because too much planet is loaded. The game actually does start to unload planet as you move along. The game crashes because the Home Ship gets unloaded. The tile boundries are there simply to prevent to ship from being unloaded.

Read the video descriptions as you watch.
You are an absolute retard. Even if it unloads (which you cannot see anyways) it remains the fact that the tiles are connected anyways you fucking retard. That's what the guy says in the video you absolute troglodyte
>taking what is essentially a theory and running with it as fact >The game actually does start to unload planet as you move along.
like any fucking game unloads stuff when you're not into a cell. You're more of a retard
>without doing any fact checking of their own,
Literally the author of the video: >This potentially confirms the findings from alprevious experiments. Respectively: >1. Tiles are connected; >2. The connection isn't just visual, that worldspace exists. You can try to reach across, and the game will load its contents as it used to in past games.
>3. This isn't only valid for major locations like New Atlantis, and it also works the other way around. Another user on Twitter and Reddit proved the same for non-major tiles. From That same user's screenshot of New Atlantis in the distance, the shape of a nearby lake appears to confirm that all tiles in the game are the same for everyone, and are not randomly generated at runtime.
>4. The actual cause for the crash isn't overload from having two tiles loaded, I recognize that's my fault for putting this hypothesis out into the world. The reason is more likely to be that the Home Ship in this game factors into what BGS previously described as "Atlas". Moving away from the Home Ship to the point that the area it's in completely unloads is what actually breaks the game.
have a nice day
Have you people even looked at this thread? Or even looked at OP's image? A ridiculous number of people actually believe the game is crashing because too much planet is being loaded. Because the gaming "press" took this guy's first three videos, along with the hypothesis he originally had, and published it as fact, which is why he went and made more videos to prove that wasn't why the game was crashing.
Literally the author of the video: >This potentially confirms the findings from alprevious experiments. Respectively: >1. Tiles are connected; >2. The connection isn't just visual, that worldspace exists. You can try to reach across, and the game will load its contents as it used to in past games.

Literally the author of the video: >I wasn't planning on making any more video on the subject after Experiment 3, but I also didn't expect news articles and internet personalities to take a working hypothesis and run with it as fact, without independent verification, and focusing on the least relevant detail to spread negativity and gain clicks. So I tried to reach a more precise conclusion for the reason the game crashes after moving away too much from the invisible border.
have a nice day, you redditspacing motherfucker.
serious question: how in the fuck does this game look so absurdly above anything else in places. i mean spaceships for instance, some of the panels and interiors are so detailed and well textured i can not remember any game looking this real. its high poly obviously but theres no raytracing or anything and it still shits on the like of cyberpunk when it comes to objects up close. i dont have any hq screengrabs ready since i am phoneposting but when i run this at 1440p with dlaa it looks unreal in places. what sort of pajeet magic was at work here?!
Ye absolutely but i just can not get over the good looking parts. Seriously can not remember when i was this impressed with visuals in a game since BF3 launch.
A lot of the techniques used in Starfield over previous Bethshit games are actually pretty good. They supposedly calculate things like the atmosphere scattering dynamically per planet, their volumetrics and shadows are as good as they could be (the config file just labels them as idtech), and things like ambient light and reflections are done in a very straightforward way by actually capturing reflection probes for everything. They use a lot of decals on meshes - small, reuseable bits of detail they can copy and paste everywhere - which makes them look a whole lot more detailed. And finally, as much as people hate them, their artists do a good job with both the art direction and setting up scenes.
However, very few of these things end up crossing over to the scenarios where the game looks like shit.

Meanwhile if you land on a planet with low gravity and enter a cave you get standard earth gravity.
Why do you lie? I just went on that mission for the Rangers in the giant Crystal cave. I flew over that doggobot and lobbed a grande at it before I could even land. Low gravity, gay. Try remembering where and from you are going to and from next time.
Actually amazing art direction/vision in what they were setting out to do.
Lots of Ganker likes to rightfully so shit on word-PUNK being described to call everything, but it was their direct vision for what they wanted spaceships to look like that made those interiors breeming with soul and detail.
One of the shipyard developers, I think its the Nova one might be wrong on the name is literally one for one on what NASA ships looks like on the inside, but you've got Hopetech which is more industrial space trucking, Diemos that is military aesthetics etc, and it's just extremely well done.
They way they do certain points of interest like pic related this bioresearch area I found the other day, just makes me extremely excited for caves in Elderscrolls 6, and Vaults in the next fallout game.

oh and cyberpunk is a terrible example for the implementation of gi, all rt modes but "4090 seller" are completely flat
>go in starfield thread >see a bunch of chimps chimping out about having no atmospheric flight >ask them to post hours in elite dangerous or no mans sky, space Sims with atmospheric flight >have done this dozens of times >nobody ever replies with their hours in any of those games because they don't actually want atmospheric flight
Because its a shit mechanic unless you have combat or something else to do while flying. Its simply not worth the effort. I can get behind expanding the space combat part but all the seemless landing from orbit and atmospheric flight stuff just isnt fun after youve done it ~3 times. I did like entering and landing in space stations in the elite games though, very impressive in vr too.
I have 115 hours in No Man's Sky and 250 in Elite. Atmospheric flight is good and enhances the game, as long as it's not something that takes too long like on Elite.
>250 hours on elite
lmfao do you still fly an uningeneered sidewinder i am pretty sure you cant even get access to PP modules with that little time what a casuap fag
fuck FDEV btw

Surely mods can find a way around it right? You have crew mates. Maybe make a way for the crew mate to automatically fly it to a new landing zone as you move.
Just seems odd as fuck that's what held back it to zones.
This boundary thing is the biggest non-issue ever. I've been playing for days and I've never hit a boundary. It would honestly take more time that it would be worth
Obviously. The reason they have cells is because if they didn't, you would need a mainframe to render a planet. You think people are kvetching over RTGI performance now.. lmao.
So the tiles ARE connected, but the game can't handle it if you travel over too much of the planet in one try for some reason.
I swear if this is the same fucking load limit issue they had in Skyrim and they haven't fucking fixed it yet I'm gonna be mad.
I mean anon, I actually like Starfield, but I don't think anyone has to apologize for this until Bethesda releases a patch or DLC to make full planetary exploration actually possible.
Whether it's because the other tiles aren't connected or it's because there's a barrier in the way to prevent the game from crashing, it does not change that you can't explore a whole planet seamlessly.
or maybe it is. for all you know the whole tes lore is just a tradition of elders, something men (or rather, mer since it was definitely elves) invented and believe in. the aedra and daedra are just starborn who live on other planets they take you to through stargates, and the magic is the same magic used in starfield, just with nirn-unique modifications.
Bethesda should’ve just paid a giant sum of money to Hello Games and inserted their story on top of NMS. Hell, Bungie should do this with Destiny also.
There’s a lot of potential with just using the built tech to insert something on top of it.
that was just an example
where are the fallout aliens?
where are planets filled with a highly intelligent species besides humans?
99% human enemies is so fucking stale
well... it was a bad example.
there are also robot enemies, and alien wildlife enemies, but I get your point - you want to fight skooma addicted cats in space or space drow or something.
>robot enemies
2nd most boring enemies >alien wildlife
those are not enemies those are just another form of ridiculous npcs just walking about
what i want is something like >theres an alien race that enslaved humans >theres humans that pray to an alien race >theres an alien race that hunts everything but their own
just give us literal ficiton
there's no aliens because then they couldn't fill the worlds with morons. they'd have to put some strange aliens and the microshit chuds would be angry for not filling their moron quota.
So why are there fucking invisible walls?
Not that it matters since there's nothing to see on these planets anyway. First Bethesda game I haven't bought
because they have tested it and it was eatin entire memory and melting 4090 and there was like >pajeet just make the boundary, like a sandbox you know >those pigs are gonna eat it up and ask for more
>have 3 weapons on quick menu >take out one that I havent used for 15 seconds >its LODded piece of shit hexagonal model with a scope you cant see through
true next-gen
>enter a tiny base >loading screen >theres just small hub and a door before another >loading screen >then there is somehow another part that just needs another >loading screen
yeah, I'm immersed alright
No vehicles even though this game has barren planets where you have to walk for miles through emptiness
No mounts even though Oblivion had them
No way to explore aside from walking and using a jetpack boost even though Morrowind had the levitation spell and fortify acrobatics
Only two ways to move more quickly, Amp that increases movement speed by 35% for 2 minutes and Dueling that increases movement speed by 20% for 10 seconds after a kill, even though Morrowind had fortify speed for gear, spells, and potions and even Skyrim had a shout that gave you a boost
No map even though Morrowind had one, both in-game and a physical map
Can’t manually land your ship or fly it over the planet’s surface
No mechs even though Fallout 4 turned power armor into mech suits anyways
You can truly tell Gamebryo held them back.
This is the game Todd always wanted to make. A space game where you could go anywhere and do anything you wanted. Except it just couldn't work on gamebryo so all of the space elements are actually just you opening the map and fast traveling. You can't even fly to a planet's moon manually.
Todd might actually an hero over the biggest blunder of his career.
>can't generate lakes or rivers
No fucking way lmao
Genuinely embarrassing, but makes sense shartfield doesn't have any real water physics or even swimming animations lmao
Dunno what the issue was with water in this game cause it looks like shit, can't go underwater and the proc gen planets cant generate oceans or rivers only small lakes.
The more you play the more you realize the planets fucking suck
okay you fags need to back the fuck off untill last month you all literaly took fat shits on my monthly NMS threads despite i insisting the game was consistently improving
now they have freighter-pirate dreadnought battles and whatnot
still a long shot from my desired fleet battles but we are getting there
THAT SAID fuck right off stop riding our dick cause youre salty you snoy fags cant play starfield or whatever you fucikng posers

I was so butthurt about starfield I looked up on all the updated space games possible
Nabbed NMS for 20$ to play in VR and I'm having a blast. I think the last time I played it they just released multiplayer and that was years ago.

Ill make a base by the portal so you can see it

remember to only build 1 base per system. building more can cause other people to only see the base you last uploaded when you are offline.

I was so butthurt about it I seeded the equivalent of 10 000 copies over the course of half a year.
Tried it after a few updates. and every single one has not been a detriment, they're at worst expanding on a system I dont personally care for, and at best putting whole new systems I love in. Redemption story of the century, I can't think of a game that was THAT bad at launch and THIS much better now.
Dunno what the issue was with water in this game cause it looks like shit, can't go underwater and the proc gen planets cant generate oceans or rivers only small lakes.

Land near a coast and the ocean is there. You’re correct about the rivers though. Same with larger lakes. Don’t know what issue with that is
I GUARANTEE that landing in the adjacent tile that you just walked to uses an entirely different seed. This exploit will just extend the terrain generation out of bounds until the crappy engine implodes.
This is not a proof, you clearly see the map isn't continuous.
This is at best comparable to the Imperial City being visible from Skyrim's boundaries; yet Cyrodiil isn't modeled nor accessible.
What's happening is the game notices you're close to a handcrafted landmark so it adds it on the edge to give you the impression of continuity.
I get hella annoyed having to watch my character animation adjust the ship monitor when sitting in the pilot seat and waiting for him to get off the seat. I can't imagine having to watch landing on a planet every time. I even get annoyed with the grav jump animation. Most of the time I just want a fast travel direct to NPC on different planets without all these dumb ship animations to deliver some fucking vegetables for a side quest.
There's a mod on nexusmods that cuts out a lot of the animation time for ship docking / landing /fast travel. it's kinda wonky but works. I think one is faster interaction and the other is called "docking" something.
I really don't understand the point of making these planets realistically sized if there's no atmosphere travel, if it's so hard to select particular miniscule tiles and so hard to see features of other tiles so it's very hard to map the planet, and if these planets have almost no genuinely interesting generated terrain features to discover to make mapping worth it.
I understand it's for marketing purposes but still.
also no shit a bethesda gayme is a hot piece of garbage
are you guys stupid? the only thing that matters is that a bethesda gane is a sandbox for modding
fallout and tes are pretty much shit and have been shit for the past decade and a half or so
fallout was only actually good back in fallout 1 and 2 days (questionable) and tes was only good while kirkbride was a thing since he left theyre basically on life support surviving out of kirkbride snippets here and there
skyrim and fo4 / fo76 have HIDEOUS storylines and HORRIBLE worldbuilding its just fucking pathetic
i did not expect anything from starfield except a space setting for mods and gameplay
gameplay is okay but you just KNOW its essentially fo5 pre beta
you all need to be more honest and stoo being so deceitful all the time this isnjust ridiculously pathetic fucking kys
>are you guys stupid? the only thing that matters is that a bethesda gane is a sandbox for modding
shut the fuck up moron if i wanted gmod i'd play it you fucking gay
how the fuck is this thread still up?
I was posting in a valheim discussion thread 12 hours ago and 200 replies in, and it 404'd a few minutes after the last reply, but starfield shit just stays up forever?
wake me when they add ship flight on planet
>wake me up when they add something trivial and boring
ftfy
>flying in a planet
>trivial and boring
your (you) my good bethesda chud
That's not really what the have is about. At the end of the day planets are glorified resource nodes and potential place to build a house, you don't need to see it all flying around especially as there's 1000 of them to go to
even scam shitizen knows flying in planets is a must have
Again there's not much of a point when you're always going to the same area
Is it? Because Scam Shitizen has almost no one playing it outside of a few thousand dedicated boomer whales and the “game” currently available to play is still essentially non functional
*Not what the game is about
Absolute shit fucking take. A planet is a planet, not a mine node or some big storage facility. If you are not gonna bother exploring or making exploration exciting then why bother having more than 2 or 3 planets?
Why not?
Are people really convinced that if they cut out every star system that didn't contain a hub city the game would somehow magically be good?
Yes because Mass Effect
Yeah? I mean you just said that there is no point to planets so why not just cut them entirely and add some passive income to get crafting resources and some storage closet so that you store your stuff and hide yourself in like the gay you are?
Because the views and freedom are cool and even the farthest reaches of star systems will have a unique quest line amidst all the proc gen stuff
Looks like a ps3 game
Post a screenshot of the PS3 game it looks like
True, Todd is a genius. Too bad there's not entire planets of different stuff in Skyrim 😉
define stuff
There isn't in Spacerim either though
lmao what
The game copies and pastes the same locations over and over on each planet. Sometimes right next to eachother.
Same designed outpost KEK
It's worse than that, both of them include the exact same clutter, the exact same enemies, and the exact same loot in the exact same chests. Todd couldn't even be bothered to copy over the code that had been in the game from morrowwind thru fallout that randomly populated chests when you opened them.
This moron slop game is just a copy and paste.
I remember finding the underground ice base on Mars with the Crimson Fleet pirates and thinking how cool it was only to find out that in EVERY AIRLESS WORLD, IT HAS THE SAME EXACT FUCKING BASE, THE SAME NPCS, THE SAME OVERWORLD LOOT, THE SAME EVERYTHING.
Ng+ rng has really low chance to spawn the cool shit like all condtellation morons killed by your based self, i got more times the cunt telling me who am i than funny random shit at the lodge
Yeah I did NG+ and it was just my character explaining what I was and skipping the main story
Im at ng+11 and the only woah was my evil side killing those fags and steal other version of me the role and be my crew member alongside adoring fan KEK
>ng+11
Goddamn, how many hours into it are you? I've reached the point I could NG+ but still doing all factions stuff and companion quests before moving on. At the ending where you get go to the unity and it shows you scenes of things from the current universe, there was only 1, the constellation shit, so figured I'd get more changes to witness if I did more before going through the unity.
I just dont gove a shit cause the moment i learn all the companions background i find them boring except andreja and she is better companion for the varuun dlc,
so i dont bother.
hell even the undercover pirate questchain its better to ignore it when you unlock the crimson hq so you have infinite smuggling quest
rewards for completing questchain not so worth and besides of that you still kill pirates in outpost and space
The companion final quests have actually been pretty good so far.
Why wouldn't it show more? The (You) at the unity tells you to look around at what changes you're leaving in the universe you left behind or something like that, and clearly its supposed to be all the things you got involved in but if all you've done in the main story it just shows a fucking constellation table lel.
Cause i sont think dating barret or the blondie gonna have a effect at the universe i think the blondie just remind you fucked her in another universe and can reset the relationship
Oh I didn't mean relationship details like that. But doing all the faction quests and companion quests and maybe the choices you made like UC microbe or predator etc
Welp ill see if want to rush it and see any alien giraffe at the unity
Funny the only sidequest with worth reward its the uc with the terromorphs that gives you good antialien gear and an op gatling
Is there any companion perk after finish it? Hated that in fallout 4 specially the location discovery xp buff tied to fucking piper
Not that I've noticed. I forget what Sarah gives for her quest, but Barret gives you a stack of cash. Marrying a companion lets gets you a unique gift you can place in your apartment or outpost.
I really doubt it shows more cause most of the sidequests arent tied to the mcguffin artifacts
I have find one too many copy pasted bandit's outpost and abandoned research centers.
Do people really like this shit? I always ignored "radiant" shit in their previous games, but now they are going as far as making it part of the fucking world
And it is really intrusive because you do not know if a location is worth your time until you go there and see it.
nothing in the game is worth your time anon
>location is worth your time until you go there and see it.
all locations have the same leveled gear, it doesn't matter where you go they're all worth the same
>And it is really intrusive because you do not know if a location is worth your time until you go there and see it
You just described open world games in a nutshell
>it is really intrusive because you do not know if a location is worth your time until you go there and see it.
Not true, you know ahead of time that any radiant quest is worse than a complete waste of time, because there's a chance that you'll do something while there that will break a later actual quest.
What do you mean exactly? Like getting an item too early or killing a quest related NPC?
More like Starbound 3D
this made me think I was going crazy or the video looped lmao
>get to experience the kino again for a second time
Todd gives and gives, we don't deserve him
I personally have to give credit to Bethesda for this wonderful loop. They know how much I enjoyed getting a few looted items from this outpost, but to give it to me again nearby? An absolute dopamine rush. Beautiful.
Nice edit
Todd is the Nolan of movies.
Texture and render resolutions is too high for that to be the released PS3 version. Compare that foliage to this PS3 screenshot from mobygames.
https://www.newgamenetwork.com/media/5310/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/
Invisible walls are not freedom and kill (5) bandits are not unique quests.
that looks like shit and completely unrealistic.
Unreal (1998) looked better
So it's Skyrim but with no NPCs and a gas giant PNG, got it
>At the end of the day planets are glorified resource nodes and potential place to build a house, you don't need to see it all flying around especially as there's 1000 of them to go to
I wonder if you even understand that you're trying to excuse a crippling flaw in Starfield with a different crippling flaw in Starfield.
YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FLY AROUND AND IT SHOULD BE EXCITING TO DO SO. BOTH OF THESE ARE REQUIRED.
Bro, you can do that in NMS. Just play that! I hear it's awesome now.
You shouldn't want to fly around it, and you shouldn't want excitement. Both of these are your personal flaws.
>shill accidently admits 90% of the games landmass is redundant trying to defend no flying
Lmao, you guys suck at this
It's way more than 90%, shill
Post hours in NMS. If you find atmospheric flight so interesting surely you have dozens of hours in NMS right?
you don't know what fun is
tbh I do not know this game. game?
The game has released about 6 times in the past12 years.
Worse Morrowind
lol. fair enough, I've played it enough you'd think I'd recognize it. I don't remember having wings or being able to fly on a dragon AT ALL. Mods or is my memory really just that shit?
you can dragonride with the DLC but its janky shit and the wings are from some goofy mod that people seem to like for some retarded reason
people will add the goofiest, cringe shit and eat it up for some reason, like they added the glider from botw and ive seen so many people use it and it looks so obnoxiously dorky to have a skyrim character pull out a tiny shopping bag and glide around
Skyrim. Game of the decade 2 decades running.
I thought you spacefags liked trivial and boring???
it's nasapunk, it's supposed to be "realistic", trivial and boring
>it's nasapunk
Nothing about this game is portrayed in a way that has any wonder, science, or curiosity at all. It is a dead-eyed soulless nu-Trek husk of absolutely nothing. It's Space-Xpunk at best.
not to mention there's no such thing
"nasapunk" or "general motors punk" or whatever already has a word for it and its just "Realism"
> Todd had an elon musk ship toy at his office
"NASAPunk" just describes the games semi-industrial enviornments. Thats it. Its just an aesthetic thing.
then they would've said so. that's not how it works
open a dictionary, gay
Nah. NASA doesn't build everything they have out of matte-plastic.
They already added the whole game.
womanbrain
>that feature would make the game worse just enjoy the instanced loading screens that simulate flight
generate a huge planet and ty to lad on it someday on SE with all mods that makes it look like starfield later, you will hate every second of it while trying to land
holy fucking cope
>something trivial and boring
A perfect match for the game
Sir please the needful
Season 2 pass
I mean, yeah I see it happening. But I also see it being implemented like shit, like dragon mounting was in Skyrim. Only thing that gives me hope is modding.
No nans sky already has everything start field doesn't including ship travel, sorties, gigantic alien creatures, etc
You don't want that, it's aids in the games that do have it. The lack of it is one of the few good things about this garbage game
>copy NMS
>except make the story, graphics, exploration, mining, combat and flight laughably worse
>NMS
>Story
AHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>yeah I only heard of game on Ganker
LOL
>the combat is fucking terrible
kinda
>flight over planets is okay and between places is fine
it would be the best part of the game if they rebalanced maneuverability and speed
Oh please, it's "get to the center of the universe and help artemis and also there's a scary red thing oh and when you're done you can get to the center of the universe again!"
It's like the same plot of starfield but with less quests, dialogue, npcs, etc.
Anon, that shit sucks even on space engineers.
NMS is a worse Space engineers
only snoys are using NMS as standard because that garbage is a Sony consoles exclusive.
>is a Sony consoles exclusive
This is your brain on Betrashda
>instead of innvoating and making it fun they just won't do it instead
>people defend them
This is why vidya has stagnated
>No vehicles for explore planets because Todd hates vehicles
>walk 45 minutes for reach the invisible walls
Just get into flight simulator it's realistic only dummies care about flying a spaceship it would be a whole different genre get into pmdg 737 super realistic
>the actual cope is now that planetary flight is "boring"
I fucking hate everyone who posts on this site
unlike walking throught a desert for 15 minutes to reach a copy pasted eclypse outpost
Hell the game can hanlde danicnspeed what a pathetic excuse of no vehicles when the cursed chud vegas mod the frontier had vehicles and even space fight with gamebryo KEK
bethesda shills are unhinged, some day a modder will crack how to add it into the game, until then we can only wait
You think you want this but you don't
go play elite dangerous, you'll get sick of it
That's unrealistic. Spaceships aren't built for in atmosphere flight. They don't have wings and the thrusters would overheat.
The ships have non-centrifugal artificial gravity. Mankind has achieved mastery over gravity. Therefore, wings are unnecessary. Also, if the planet's atmosphere isn't extremely hot, the thrusters heat up less than in space because in space there is no medium for heat to conduct into.
If only FrrontierDev werent complete and absolute retarded pieces of shit
HOTAS support
Real ship landing and take off
Seamless space to planet transitions
Cockpit interactions
it would just be loading screens anyway as your ship traverses an entire tile in 10 seconds
the real problem is that they're STILL using an engine which can only load discretes cells instead of streaming like literally every single modern game.
FPBP
without atmospheric flight this shit is not even worth pirating
also mechs
mods
when?
Next year
mechs are comming todd once himself said he was basing some of the games mechanics on mechwarriors plus the mechs look straight out of battletech
I don't believe your sweet little lies
will buy if true todd
wake me when planet orbits are not just pngs
wake me up I'm in a coma

fucking hell i hated this song because the media group at my highschool turned it into like a school theme song or some shit so people were spam singing it every single day for months afterward. fucking hated it.

What do they mean planet tiles are connect like NMS? when I play NMS I don't hit an invisible wall.
No you just mine resources over and over
You clearly haven't played NMS.
I hope the modders can fix having to go through a dozen loading screens for every 1 portion of gameplay
>Use no clip developer mode
>look it's seamless
the entire planet is explorable you can land in any tile which is about the size of skyrims map
You know, I didn't know that, I haven't played too far in the game, but I did see someone talking about landing really close to New atlantis to see it in the distance
You can only have 4 landing zones max and the only way to land besides another map is to use console commands.
4 i thought you can just click anywhere on the planet and land?
What is wrong with you fucking retards?
>another "just abandon engine lmao" retard
You're the fucking retard. Yes, they should stop trying to use the fucking oblivion engine for shit it is not suitable for.
this is the best take. at least modify the engine to do the things it should. Morrowind in space is not the right idea.
Exactly. If anything, the creation engine is at it's strongest in small, dense environments.
Its a righ idea with all that grav defying alteration spells
Please use UE5 sir!
he's being a vague gay.
>You can only have 4 landing zones max
that's wrong. You can literally play the game for 17 dollars, play it for yourself and quit lying.
He is 100% right. When you create a new landing zone, another one is deleted. Maybe you should try it before running your mouth, pajeet.
There's a maximum of 4 unique landing zones at a time. The whole planet is still there to explore, you just can't save the state of the entire planet.
So I can't explore a whole planet, just 4 chunks of one at a time.
Yeah you get the point, 4 chunks are stored in your save file but the terrain of the whole planet is always possible to explore. That's how I understand it at least.
So, why not just let you explore freely, and purge the oldest chunk you've explored when you enter your 5th chunk on one planet? Or better yet, why not just code their game better so that having more than 4 chunks on one planet doesn't somehow crash your game for no reason?
shill ass fag i landed on a planet in 3 spots and it had the same exact cavern and resources
the game sucks so fucking bad
legit kinda mad i paid 100 for it
its not even worth it if i got paid 100 to play it for the time i did
its ok bro, im sorry you had to go through that. join me in prayer for the people with gamepass that still paid the $100 for a head start on steam
All the people shilling Starfield pirated it. Never listen to pirates. Their opinion is worthless.
nah pirates are the best people to get an opion from because they usually dont have a loyalty to a paltform/publisher or whatever and also wont cope with bad games to try and make up for the fact theyve wasted money
Yes, better listen to people that blindly consume the product and then feel like they need every single cent they spent to justify their retarded purchases in gameplay lmao. Your buyers remorse is hilarious.
Dumbest post ITT
I pirated it and I would not shill it even if you pay me
5 POIs, all 5 were the exact same microbial colony.
What the FUCK is this shit!!!!!!!
Scan them before you walk there dumbass. If a planet only has 1 trait and your scan shows up loads of natural, anomaly or signs of life type waypoints in a single LZ then they're all going to be the same.
> I WANT to walk several hours across empty planets
No, I want to drive. To use a bit of Todd logic, the astronauts who drove the lunar rover across the moon certainly weren't bored
Literally walking and driving ON THE FUCKING MOON AN OBJECT OF HUMAN WORSHIP SINCE THE DAWN OF TIME is not the same as driving a reskinned horse in Fallout 5.
Elite dangerous did it so why not?
It's hyperspace, you thargoid molester.
it's still just you in space, but now there's yellow line everywhere.
oh and you still have to wait till you get there, meanwhile in starfield i finished my fast travel.
The only thing it needs is in-system flights and more space station and battles.
What are you even talking about?
I'm saying that hyperspace in elite dangerous is boring, no matter how you name it.
Star trek online somehow managed to be a better space game.
Hyperspace is just a loading screen. What the fuck do you want from a loading screen?
One that doesn't take ages.
>it's the player's fault there is no content
Just let the player fly.
The planets can then be big and mostly empty while also making it reasonable for the player to find points of interest.
This is the best solution and works for everyone.
>I WANT empty planets
green areas has blacks
red areas do not
>inb4 they just placed invisible walls due to something being broken causing memory leaks
The planets are flat square maps they are not actually planet maps.
If you thought otherwise you fell for Todd's lies.
Bethesda have always been ambitious but shit programmers, and literal decades of bad programming habits are eating away at the kneecaps of this game.
wonder if they'll ever get rid of that dogshit engine, at this point it's been two decades and they still outright refuse to change things up
>dude they should make elder scrolls in unreal engine 5 cause its got more good graphics bro!!!
that's not what was said retard
clearly the engine being built on building blocks from 20 fucking years ago that still has the same issues and bugs it's had for years is gonna be a problem, stop excusing the billion dollar dev that has more than enough time and money to fix it
im not sure if a new engine would even be a good thing despite their current one being inefficient or whatever is making it run like shit bethesda games have a certain feel to them that definitely comes from the engine and i dont know if theyd be able to have a the same thing in a newer one. im sure they could rewrite massive parts of it with modern techniques and keep it feeling the same though i guess we will just have to wait for it to get so bad that that have no choice but to do a lot of engine work ;-;
>How the fuck does Elite manage to do it?
Because it doesn't have a zillion individual objects with their own physics cluttering the place. That's pretty much the creation engines greatest trick and biggest weakness, there's no way to pull that off without using cells.
because elite dangerous graphics are lightyears behind starfield's
S

i just fucking love playing fast travel
>because they couldn't figure out how to prevent loading too much of the planet from crashing people's games.
its likely only like this due to the xbox, the game uses a low amount of vram on pc, the xbox only has about 6gb of vram
I honestly think there's a chance that starfield won't even make it into the nominee list for game of the year.
The fact this game doesn't have vehicles is so disappointing. Fuck you Todd.
>See? You only need to use cheats to get outside the literal boundary!
yeah, i genuinely dont get it
It's evidence that Bethesda once again was held back by their shitty engine and refusal to move on from it.
Unreal simple couldn't even do what this engine does. Like it legit couldn't do half the features this game has.
Cope seethe and dilate unreal chud.
Where did I once mention Unreal you cud-munching turbogay.
Name an engine they should switch to then that'd be better at what Bethesda does.
Wait you can't! You just rehash "CHANGE THE ENGINE" memes unreal trannies spew.
Who ever said they should use someone else's engine. Fucking start from scratch and build something that fits your needs instead of trying to squeeze blood from the stone that is the GameBryo engine.
>just make a better engine from scratch ground up in 6 years while simultaneously developing the game
Kek more retards who don't know shit. All the best engines literally use other engines as a ground to build upon.
This is how engine development works.
Then it doesn't work because this engine is a hunk of trash and the games look and perform like soupy dog shit in it.
Cool, enjoy your truncated experience because the developer is still using an engine from 1997 in 2023 and its reached its limitation as to what it's functionally capable of.
BG3, the game everybody here is creaming on for being better than Bethesda is literally just an updated divinity engine
and the divinity engine takes cues from gamebryo which Divinity II was built on.
>This is how engine development works.
Yes and this is why games are barely looking any better than 10 years ago if not sometimes worse while asking for a lot more computing power.
Just because that's the common practice doesn't mean it's a good practice.
source has mogged bethslop ever since VTMB
Source couldn't do half the shit that starfield would require it to do.
Source couldn't do atmospheric flight or cross planetary shit either.
Swear anybody on Ganker who discusses game engines shouldn't be taken seriously. They never know jack shit about what they're talking about.
>Source couldn't do half the shit that starfield would require it to do.
Such as?
Realtime lighting. Source, even Source 2 requires precalculation for lighting. Source doesn't do dynamic lighting or dynamic atmospheres. Source also doesn't do anything for NPC schedules - all the AI stuff is geared towards making things work on a fight, and since HL Alyx they've made it even less AI driven and more reliant on placed markers. World scale. Source still has a limit on the max size of areas, and runs into floating point problems if you get too far from the world origin. And it also can't process NPCs or objects that aren't on the current map. I could go on.
Ok and the lighting in most of the game is prebaked and the NPCs dont have schedules and the maps are broken up into segments.. so again, what can't it do that shartflopped needs?
>gets btfo'd
>lies and copes afterwards
kek, man you're seething
>Unreal simple couldn't even do what this engine does.
wtf? like what? the shitty clutter physics?
>i don't like it so it's unimportant and stupid
Kek
who do you think is going to code the new engine for them without turning it into absolute ass as they will? and why do you think microsoft will allow them to create a free, open modding platform on it again, esp. knowing the platform will be used to destroy their diversity virtue signaling again?
a new engine will be 1000 times worse, since their current coders are incompetent monkeys. it'll be a miracle if the game even boots.
Kek now i rememeber the sand of time remake hell development
The engine peaked with Morrowind. Every subsequent release by Bethesda has been making compromises for it since. City exteriors in Oblivion being put behind loading screens and the removal of levitate showed us that it was never going to get any better.
It is a shame the game doesn't have on planet dog fighting you must admit. Hopefully we get some good dlc
>something exists in the skybox
>Bro there are like totally a million stars out there that I can go and visit
I like game boundaries that have a unique enemy to kill you.
In high level star systems they should put in space leviathans and turn space into a black void if you fly out in a direction for a minute
Are the tiles in the game even unique to begin with? I thought they were procedurally generated.
Yes, Bethesda created them offline, and wrapped around the planets
They are procedural.
so its not just poorly designed, but also poorly implemented
>could just load and drop cells as you travel between them
>item permanence literally has no meaning or purpose
>can still have all the dumb base building bullshit as countless other sandbox games have proven
bethesda is retarded and will never learn, they could so easily play to their strengths, and still acknowledge where progress has occurred int he industry, but they're totally blind.
Why is there no dismemberment, would have been a lot better then the pointless ship fly mechanic, and why’s there so much loading screens in 2023? And why dose every game made in the past decade suck and falls way short of what they promise?
There is no desintegration neither unless you die in ng+
If you die in ng you just turn to stardust...
Like megaman
Let me know when you can pass the boundaries without breaking the game. Until then it doesn't matter and I don't care
mod to remove boundaries when?
most disappointing game since fable
>ackshually, there is real space travel, it just takes literal hours to get anywhere
>ackshually, you can explore an entire planet, you just have to get past the boundaries of the intended play area
It's becoming pretty evident starfield was originally planned to be more similar to something like no man's sky. I wonder when it was that they gave up on making it work and scaled the game back to what was shipped.
When the retarded monkeys playtesters of maryland complained about fuel
>i wonder when it was that they gave up on that
when they realized that todd wasn't going to let them use anything other than gamebryo
that's hilarious. So the only reason for the invisible walls was so players don't actually get lost on a planet and they couldn't think of a better implementation to get the player back to the ship than block their path with invisible walls.
10/10 game design
nah you can fast travel back from anywhere so that's not the reason
it's even better
they can't allow players to "load up too much planet" because their shitty engine can't properly manage assets, so it keeps loading shit until it crashes
>game devs use shortcuts
WOAWOAHAHWAHAOAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
*Groan* I can't even with y'all just play the damn game aight?
Quality Bethesda writing.
>RPG gives you an option to roleplay as a retarded soiboi
>NO, NOT LIKE THAT, I WANT EVERY CHARACTER TO BE A BASECHAD
(you)
>RPG
Starfield is a terrible RPG, it doesn't actually let you roleplay as anything, all of its "Role playing" is an illusion which leads to nothing.
90% of the options are retarded soiboi writing though.
soiboi RP came at an opportunity cost of having non-shit dialogue options
As Bethesda writing goes, it actually is
I think their writers are still stuck in "fallout" mode. Everything is quirky and sarcastic (though even fallout is more than just that)
>the engine can't handle loading a landmass this big
>it also can't handle dumping shit from memory dynamically
>We have to pen the player in and force them to go through a "loading screen" where we delete the oldest terrain tile
It's XBox Morrowind all over again where they intentionally crash the game and relaunch it entirely every time you go through a door.
>It's XBox Morrowind all over again where they intentionally crash the game and relaunch it entirely every time you go through a door.
I shouldn't believe this, but I do.
WAKE UP
GRAB A BRUSH AND PUT A LITTLE MAKE-UP
This guy died thinking starfield was going to be a good game, probably spent years obsessing over it. Todd should be ashamed
even if he died with Starfield enthusiasm in his hear, he deserved better than this karma farming reddit eulogy. neglecting his degree to put in honest hours and imparting kindness with minimal dialogue, sounds pretty based. probably would have been disappointed in starfield
Yes, what’s saddest is there’s no outcry over his death outside this little plebbet post because he was white. The brown pice of shit was arrested for a drive by shooting and released just a year ago.
>starfield is so bad God killed someone before it's release to save him from the disappointment
>guy gets killed in some small town 7/11
>at least 300 people terminally on reddit know him and half of them interacted with him that day
What are the odds?!
LMAOOOOOOOO FUCKING garden gnomes AND JEETS ARE SO RETARDED
So when are they going to port over Bodyslide so I can at least enjoy some eye candy while playing the game?
So the Series S really did hold the game back?
no, it's the engine's fault.
shit would crash on any platform if you load too many cells
Why is this suddenly a problem now?
Fallout 76 didn't have this issue
Fallout 76's landmass is about four times the scale of Fallout 4.
A Starfield landing zone is allegedly somewhere between the size of 4 and 76. It can hold about four landing zones before it deletes the oldest one. If you go running around the planet, it starts risking a crash after you start having more than four loaded.
I don't understand how this is a problem. Is it holding every landing zone in RAM? Why? What kind of retard would design their game like this?
Sounds like Starfield is garbage
They wouldn't even need a loading screen. just run the pcb command whenever you cross a border to a new region and it would solve the problem.
>Starfield managed to not be worse in this aspect than a 5 year old game
>Starcucks see this as some big win
Uh, grats I guess.
fucking insane, only bethesda could make an entire functioning system and just limit/break it for no discernable reason
My theory is that it's just bait for modders so that they can get headlines in a year like "fan makes seamless space travel mod" to get back into public awareness for no effort on their part.
>when you realizes its that piece of shit hotplate that caused this
lol
lmao
Cool. In 10 years when there will be:
>seamless on-plannet travel
>seamless interplanetary travel
>fully usable ship inside the atmosphere
>intelligent aliens and alien companions
>space economy
>actual fuel use instead of "you need fuel tank this large" that refills on arrival
>meaningful resources
>de-moronisaton
>sarah unhag mod
>andreja hottification mod
I might check it out
not gonna happen. in 10 years maybe we'll be getting first previews of fallout 5, though more likely we'll still be waiting for another half a decade.
Less than 5 we re gonna get daggerfall 2 KEK they even have problems to make dlc
>In 10 years when there will be:
on-plannet travel
interplanetary travel
nms already has this
despite what you think about the game starfield should have done this too
>Cool. In 10 years when there will be:
on-plannet travel
interplanetary travel
33 years ago we had it already
>sub playable fps
>no more than 1 second without a stutter
>multiple second long freezes
>ends in a crash
>windows loading wheel mouse
>doesnt even prove its point
Is this the perfect video for a starfield thread?
According ti the comments, it crashed because it unloaded the player ship.
You and I both know that theres 10 more crash reasons after fixing that one.
I actually just think that it won’t work at all.
I don't care. I've written Starfield off already. A bland, utterly boring game. I want better games than this and anyone saying "man wait till the mods fix it" can fuck off.
>crashes
Makes sense, though Bethesda should have implemented a way to unload the previous tile
low polygon version of the city in a planet that wasn't procedurally generated
tell me when this applies to every planet
I'm not a fucking moron, I wish you trannies would fuck off with this shit
this just proves
They massively downgraded the fame
They still lied
This actually proves they lies as THEY DID intend and promise completely wrapped spheres for worlds with seamless travel on them.
This is class action lawsuit worthy.
>mfw Bethdrone morons prove Bethesda lied and released a substantially different product than promised
the game*
I am telling you, someone will make a mod so planets and space are linked so you will be able to land without a loading screen. I dunno if there will be actual function to manually land tho, but I am sure the loading screen can be skipped. Still don't know why this is such a big deal for people.
>muh mods will fix it
lmao lol no
maybe in 20 years or so when openmw can run other gamebryo games
If you want your game to run worse then ever before, maybe.
It would require rewriting the entire game code from scratch.
This can absolutely be done, it will only require five times the hardware requirements to get it working. If people haven't realize yet it's ALWAYS the consoles that are the bottlenecks.
You know very little of how Starfield is made if you believe that's possible.
What do you expect? It's the gamebryo engine
how the fuck are they still using that piece of shit engine
It's like they did all the work to make the planets seamless and then just gave up at the finish.
It'd have been more work for Bethesda not to generate the maps as a fixed 2d grid of tiles and have it wrap around near the extremeties, otherwise you'd have players bitching about "I parked my ship 10 feet away from this specific location and it generated a whole new area".
They're not connected, the player just entered a parallel universe.
Wasn't the whole gimmick of the creation engine that it could handle cells effectively?
Yeah, but planets are huge.
>You can discover everything about a planet from the minerals to the fauna in the first tile you land on a planet besides le random natural structure.
"""""exploration"""""
As usual, OP is a gay for not linking the whole series of videos, and the gaming "press" are even bigger gays, taking what is essentially a theory and running with it as fact, without doing any fact checking of their own, meaning everyone believes something that is outright false.
The game doesn't crash because too much planet is loaded. The game actually does start to unload planet as you move along. The game crashes because the Home Ship gets unloaded. The tile boundries are there simply to prevent to ship from being unloaded.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLW0h1M7Upvl8n7vIwggwCG7hf7v07HcTv
Read the video descriptions as you watch.
You are an absolute retard. Even if it unloads (which you cannot see anyways) it remains the fact that the tiles are connected anyways you fucking retard. That's what the guy says in the video you absolute troglodyte
Have you people even looked at this thread? Or even looked at OP's image? A ridiculous number of people actually believe the game is crashing because too much planet is being loaded. Because the gaming "press" took this guy's first three videos, along with the hypothesis he originally had, and published it as fact, which is why he went and made more videos to prove that wasn't why the game was crashing.
>taking what is essentially a theory and running with it as fact
>The game actually does start to unload planet as you move along.
like any fucking game unloads stuff when you're not into a cell. You're more of a retard
>without doing any fact checking of their own,
Literally the author of the video:
>This potentially confirms the findings from alprevious experiments. Respectively:
>1. Tiles are connected;
Moving away from the Home Ship to the point that the area it's in completely unloads is what actually breaks the game.
have a nice day
Literally the author of the video:
>I wasn't planning on making any more video on the subject after Experiment 3, but I also didn't expect news articles and internet personalities to take a working hypothesis and run with it as fact, without independent verification, and focusing on the least relevant detail to spread negativity and gain clicks.
The way the game can look great one moment and like complete shit seconds later is impressive
Ye absolutely but i just can not get over the good looking parts. Seriously can not remember when i was this impressed with visuals in a game since BF3 launch.
the graphics are mediocre you idiot

The absolute state of Larian shills.
lowgrav shootin is actually fun
yesterday i ran out of 'nades then lobbed a frag mine and shot it
also using floating bodies for cover and whatnot
Actually amazing art direction/vision in what they were setting out to do.
Lots of Ganker likes to rightfully so shit on word-PUNK being described to call everything, but it was their direct vision for what they wanted spaceships to look like that made those interiors breeming with soul and detail.
One of the shipyard developers, I think its the Nova one might be wrong on the name is literally one for one on what NASA ships looks like on the inside, but you've got Hopetech which is more industrial space trucking, Diemos that is military aesthetics etc, and it's just extremely well done.
They way they do certain points of interest like pic related this bioresearch area I found the other day, just makes me extremely excited for caves in Elderscrolls 6, and Vaults in the next fallout game.
>space mosque
stunning and brave
Mr Epstein at it again
they used gi techniques that are not rt
oh and cyberpunk is a terrible example for the implementation of gi, all rt modes but "4090 seller" are completely flat
>go in starfield thread
>see a bunch of chimps chimping out about having no atmospheric flight
>ask them to post hours in elite dangerous or no mans sky, space Sims with atmospheric flight
>have done this dozens of times
>nobody ever replies with their hours in any of those games because they don't actually want atmospheric flight
And they just never reply back. Kek.
>250 hours on elite
lmfao do you still fly an uningeneered sidewinder i am pretty sure you cant even get access to PP modules with that little time what a casuap fag
fuck FDEV btw
retard
>biggest city in the game is just 5 skyscrapers
I just realized something. Are there even rivers in the game or it's just all flat terrain with sometimes hills and craters?
No rivers
Surely mods can find a way around it right? You have crew mates. Maybe make a way for the crew mate to automatically fly it to a new landing zone as you move.
Just seems odd as fuck that's what held back it to zones.
Can someone link me the mod that gets rid of morons?
https://basedmods.eth.link/
or
https://moddinghaven.com/mediawiki/index.php/Starfield_mods
This boundary thing is the biggest non-issue ever. I've been playing for days and I've never hit a boundary. It would honestly take more time that it would be worth
Obviously. The reason they have cells is because if they didn't, you would need a mainframe to render a planet. You think people are kvetching over RTGI performance now.. lmao.
Can I connect outposts from different planets together or only network within the planet they are on?
any outposts can be linked, you require helium input as fuel to link between different star systems though
How many people actually walk through those AI generated maps for long enough to naturally reach the wall?
in Starfield every planet is... "Flat" ?
Minecraft literally can put better landscapes and biomes
No
-"the bad news? the game crashes when you load too much planet"
>apologize
op is a massive gay shill but i'm not surprised
So the tiles ARE connected, but the game can't handle it if you travel over too much of the planet in one try for some reason.
I swear if this is the same fucking load limit issue they had in Skyrim and they haven't fucking fixed it yet I'm gonna be mad.
you now remember having to download multiple mods and windows modifiers to get TREES to load in beyond a cell.
One of the planets could be Nirn.
Nirn is not a planet. It's only depicted as one by the people living in it.
or maybe it is. for all you know the whole tes lore is just a tradition of elders, something men (or rather, mer since it was definitely elves) invented and believe in. the aedra and daedra are just starborn who live on other planets they take you to through stargates, and the magic is the same magic used in starfield, just with nirn-unique modifications.
Looks like LOD
and crashes
bethesda lost
Bethesda should’ve just paid a giant sum of money to Hello Games and inserted their story on top of NMS. Hell, Bungie should do this with Destiny also.
There’s a lot of potential with just using the built tech to insert something on top of it.
Oh wow, now I can run towards "spawn.Asset#12;var#07" seamlessly!
boring game honestly
where are the alien enemies and with that i mean alien humanoids
that speak to you
or communicate telepathicly
is this not a science FICTION game?
can bethesda not think beyond "yeah uhm nasa in space haha"
an alien that mind controls and speaks to you exists in starfield. it's part of the UC questline. I haven't seen it outside of that.
that was just an example
where are the fallout aliens?
where are planets filled with a highly intelligent species besides humans?
99% human enemies is so fucking stale
well... it was a bad example.
there are also robot enemies, and alien wildlife enemies, but I get your point - you want to fight skooma addicted cats in space or space drow or something.
>robot enemies
2nd most boring enemies
>alien wildlife
those are not enemies those are just another form of ridiculous npcs just walking about
what i want is something like
>theres an alien race that enslaved humans
>theres humans that pray to an alien race
>theres an alien race that hunts everything but their own
just give us literal ficiton
>there’s humans that pray to an alien race
Already exists in the game though kind of sparse
there's no aliens because then they couldn't fill the worlds with morons. they'd have to put some strange aliens and the microshit chuds would be angry for not filling their moron quota.
dumbasses should have let you travel over the entire planet and the game just wipes everything but the geography data for a square you have been in
>the theme of the game is planet exploration
>you can't fully explore planets
So why are there fucking invisible walls?
Not that it matters since there's nothing to see on these planets anyway. First Bethesda game I haven't bought
because they have tested it and it was eatin entire memory and melting 4090 and there was like
>pajeet just make the boundary, like a sandbox you know
>those pigs are gonna eat it up and ask for more
>have 3 weapons on quick menu
>take out one that I havent used for 15 seconds
>its LODded piece of shit hexagonal model with a scope you cant see through
true next-gen
>enter a tiny base
>loading screen
>theres just small hub and a door before another
>loading screen
>then there is somehow another part that just needs another
>loading screen
yeah, I'm immersed alright
I fucking TOLD YOU gays this was possible before this fucking game even came out.
starfield
more like
the needful
The best way to bring more manpower to you, Mr. Idea Guy, is to make something yourself first.
No snake cult its gonna be the dlc you only have a crappy trait were you re junkie of gravboosting for a pathetic buff
> Lets get a robot used against terromorph
> Its just the best version of vasco instead of a discount liberty prime
>anyways
american detected, post discarded
Oh no!
Anyways
grav dash is the best way to move around. have you tried playing the game?
When did the goalposts changed from not being able to seamlessly explore a planet to whatever tiles are connected or not?
>did changed
yes sir! yes
>Gamebryo
Uuuuuhm that's creation engine for you!
its also suffering from the too many cooks syndrome
>crashes on a RTX 40xx
topkek
Never going to buy this piece of shit.
Thats for falling to nvdia slop and rtx memes
no
the game has no raytracing at all
it runs like shit on amd
it crashes on intel gpus
and on linux the performance because of vulkan is almost doubled
Reminder that Starfield planets can't generate lakes or rivers.
>can't generate lakes or rivers
No fucking way lmao
Genuinely embarrassing, but makes sense shartfield doesn't have any real water physics or even swimming animations lmao
Dunno what the issue was with water in this game cause it looks like shit, can't go underwater and the proc gen planets cant generate oceans or rivers only small lakes.
The more you play the more you realize the planets fucking suck
Why do you need rivers and oceans? You can't explore them anyway.
you can in sean's game
okay you fags need to back the fuck off untill last month you all literaly took fat shits on my monthly NMS threads despite i insisting the game was consistently improving
now they have freighter-pirate dreadnought battles and whatnot
still a long shot from my desired fleet battles but we are getting there
THAT SAID fuck right off stop riding our dick cause youre salty you snoy fags cant play starfield or whatever you fucikng posers
I was so butthurt about starfield I looked up on all the updated space games possible
Nabbed NMS for 20$ to play in VR and I'm having a blast. I think the last time I played it they just released multiplayer and that was years ago.
its a good game
meet me at triforce triforce triforce triforce triforce triforce dino dino dino dino dino dino in a about a week or so
Ill make a base by the portal so you can see it
remember to only build 1 base per system. building more can cause other people to only see the base you last uploaded when you are offline.
I was so butthurt about it I seeded the equivalent of 10 000 copies over the course of half a year.
Tried it after a few updates. and every single one has not been a detriment, they're at worst expanding on a system I dont personally care for, and at best putting whole new systems I love in. Redemption story of the century, I can't think of a game that was THAT bad at launch and THIS much better now.
why do you need mountains and hills? you cant explore them anyway
it would add immensely to the scenery to have oceans in my opinion
Game has swimming animations dumbass
Land near a coast and the ocean is there. You’re correct about the rivers though. Same with larger lakes. Don’t know what issue with that is
I GUARANTEE that landing in the adjacent tile that you just walked to uses an entirely different seed. This exploit will just extend the terrain generation out of bounds until the crappy engine implodes.
That's a skybox
This is not a proof, you clearly see the map isn't continuous.
This is at best comparable to the Imperial City being visible from Skyrim's boundaries; yet Cyrodiil isn't modeled nor accessible.
What's happening is the game notices you're close to a handcrafted landmark so it adds it on the edge to give you the impression of continuity.
COD lost
Thanks may do so. Only have the DLSS and some coomer mods installed.
I understand it's for marketing purposes but still.
>le shit game could have potentially been a different shade of brown
They're going to make articles like this for years, aren't they?
New Vegas is better than chudbound. Kneel Pajeet.
also no shit a bethesda gayme is a hot piece of garbage
are you guys stupid? the only thing that matters is that a bethesda gane is a sandbox for modding
fallout and tes are pretty much shit and have been shit for the past decade and a half or so
fallout was only actually good back in fallout 1 and 2 days (questionable) and tes was only good while kirkbride was a thing since he left theyre basically on life support surviving out of kirkbride snippets here and there
skyrim and fo4 / fo76 have HIDEOUS storylines and HORRIBLE worldbuilding its just fucking pathetic
i did not expect anything from starfield except a space setting for mods and gameplay
gameplay is okay but you just KNOW its essentially fo5 pre beta
you all need to be more honest and stoo being so deceitful all the time this isnjust ridiculously pathetic fucking kys
>are you guys stupid? the only thing that matters is that a bethesda gane is a sandbox for modding
shut the fuck up moron if i wanted gmod i'd play it you fucking gay
fuck off moron you know its the truth otherwise u wouldnt have seethed gay cope and stay mad
im not super far into the game but i never hit a boundary once
how the fuck is this thread still up?
I was posting in a valheim discussion thread 12 hours ago and 200 replies in, and it 404'd a few minutes after the last reply, but starfield shit just stays up forever?
