>start the game
>enemies are frequently shitty damage sponges (10~ slashes) with no threatning attacks
>game has no difficulty beyond an instakill spike
>limited health only serves to make exploration less fun instead of adding any challenge
does this get better later or is the entire game gonna be like this
>start the game. >enemies are frequently shitty damage sponges (10~ slashes) with no threatning attacks

Try Hollow Knight instead
i already beat it, also did the last pantheon with all bindings
Its top tier
>shit taste
>hollow knight chud
Every time.
ok name what is good about this game other than the visuals and sound effects
Nah. You keep waiting for your flash game sequel instead of making shitty threads like this.
>i dont enjoy the game for any other reason than to be a contrarian
sorry to announce the flash game has better fluidity, enemy design and overall content than yours
>ok name what is good about this game other than the visuals and sound effects
The spanish voice acting is PURE SEX.
I don't even speak spanish it just sounds good.
>The spanish voice acting is PURE SEX.
It really is
?t=150
>that dialogue
Who the fuck talks like that? Jesus Christ. Did the writer work for the RAE?
The English VA for the Pope is so good

Hollow bitches have been on perma cope mode and their sanity will not recover even if silksong came today
You need to git good anon, unironically.
I like HK but gives you too much movement.
That game is boring and shit.
The gameplay is not particularly great. You do get damage upgrades and a few additional skills but thats about it.
This.
No it never gets better. The only good part of the game is the hardcore brutal catholic visuals.
Skill issue.
thats the feeling i had so far
>bland enemies with often boring hp
>instakills for no reason
>hard limit to health with flasks, flasks being a secondary hp bar, which is a boring system by default. in this game theres nothin whatsoever adding to it
>grounded attacks with zero mobility
so far its like a pure 5/10. nothing offensively bad but nothing really good either bar the visuals. if there was anything bad the game would straight up suck
meant for
>The only good part of the game is the hardcore brutal catholic visuals
But that's not gameplay. Why should we care?
Yeah game is nothing special outside of some good visuals here and there. Combat is clunky because you don’t move forward when you attack and it lacks a certain oomf factor, platforming is bad too… and the worst offense is it’s just another souls-inspired indie game in a sea of souls-inspired indie games
Skill issue.
i died zero times to any boss and only once to objects so far
cope
>Outting yourself as a Brazilian
Opinion discarded.
>complains game being too easy
>but also complains about not enough health
why are they like this?
Because its simply boring. Theres nothing interesting about it, its just a detriment to long exploration. But most games at least add some interesting mechanics to give it some engagement, like how Dead Cells (different genre), which also feels bland, at least lets you choose between using flasks or hoping for food drops, on top of the heal mutations.
Blasphemous doesnt even have any of that though. its simply boring
>Theres nothing interesting about it, its just a detriment to long exploration
But you have health potions? Nearly every time I was running low on potions I found a new checkpoint. I think you might have a skill issue, unironically.
i mean, once again. I didnt die. but what does it tell me, right off the bat?
>if i ever have a challenging exploration segment it will be probably driven by limited hp and not actually good enemies
>if im ever low on health a while before a checkpoint i just have to play like a pussy for a long period instead of interesting healing mechanics
And do mind you, i never complained about the combat being easy, which i dont give a shit about. I complained about it being fucking boring, built upon boring systems, and boring enemies.
>I didn't die but I'm going to complain health is too low
???
the complaint is that " they settled for the shitty boring cheap system (that is also copying souls) instead of something interesting "
There are multiple ways to heal yourself directly and to get new flasks as well as flask refilling stations scattered throughout the world. There are also builds revolving around having no flasks at all. Maybe if you played the game you'd know this. Like how you'd know the combat becomes more movement based if you read the upgrades to your weapon.
I get the sense your real issue here is you didn't start with enough of a hook and now feel like you are treading water. If that's the case fine, i'd argue this game is more about the NG+ cycles than the first run anyway, so it's not like you would care for it.
thats all i needed to hear. A " yes it gets better and provides interesting things "
i was already gonna beat the full game anyway but this gives me more excitement to actually see the rest of what it has to offer
thanks for not being a braindead retard like
also
Thanks, i can speak spanish and i didnt even know it was better than english. will swap to it next time i play
>playing shitty game
>"Why it's so shit!?"
I love this game so much brehs
Same m8
>game is BAD because it‘s not like hollow knight
Explain to me how hollow trannies are any different from soulsfags
who are you quoting
>god tier gameplay
>god tier art style
>god tier soundtrack
>god tier voice acting (spanish)
>filters zoomers
>filters hollow-trannies
>sequel in the works
Where were you when a rag-tag group of spanish indie devs saved vidya?
Correct on every account.
Honestly, one of the best games there is. Bloodborne and Blasphemous are my personal top tier. The only games that I'm currently looking forward to are Blasphemous 2 and Dragon's Dogma 2.
Starting an NG+ with a penance was very fun too. Merely because on my very first run I was using beads for a defensive build but being under a penance forced me to play drastically different. I've seen people complaining how sword hearts and beads don't matter that much but that couldn't be any further from the truth. Once you start playing with different play styles, the game is extremely fun and satisfying.
Her challenges were the only really difficult part of the game, the last two runs especially.
>Her challenges were the only really difficult part of the game, the last two runs especially.
No difficulty with the singing lady when you acquire enough bones? I guess she's not that bad once you have the invincibility spell.
Isidora is the most difficult boss in the game but to be honest, none of the Blasphemous bosses nor enemies are really that difficult. I can see how someone could have problems with her second phase because of those damn orbs but it's still very manageable.
> I guess she's not that bad once you have the invincibility spell.
Yeah, the tiento to your thorned hairs prayer makes that fight and most fights very easy.
> But I feel that has something to do with the lack of them in the main game.
I liked the little of platforming we had in the main game but Miriam's challenges were really sadistically designed. Doesn't help that some spikes have insane hitboxes. It's the only part of the game that I don't enjoy replaying. Everything else is 10/10. And I agree, I don't care about Bloodstained and it doesn't fit with the tone of the game.
Did you manage to defeat the Amanecidas?
>Did you manage to defeat the Amanecidas?
That's NG+ right? No I haven't tried yet. I don't feel like replaying the game right now, maybe later.
> That's NG+ right?
Yeah, they're my favorite part of the game including the final boss of the DLC. I strongly recommend NG+ when you find the time, it's very rewarding.
The platforming challenges were brutal. But I feel that has something to do with the lack of them in the main game. They come out of left field really. Doesn't help how out of place they feel either. I didn't need to know that character was from a different game to know she was from a different game.
But enough about Metroid Dread.
Name 1 memorable dread soundtrack.
>good movement
>some fun boss fights on top of a ton of repeats
Thats Dread's only relative positives without mentioning any negatives like EMMI rooms sucking ass and taking up huge chunks of map after you've beaten the EMMI. I love Metroid, if Dread wasn't a Metroid game, it'd be accepted as worse than some mid tier shit like Guacamelee.
My only regret is that even though I knew about it before release I still waited a year to play it. Blasphemous is definitely in my top 10 though. Can't wait for part 2.
The myriam challenges actually made me try out her game but it feels too low budget.
You might want to check the game again. They've updated it a long time after release. I've seen what some backgrounds looked like at launch. A lot of them got overhauled. You might have missed some at 1 year post-launch.
Post the webm
her design is pure coom
>Also, who's your favorite boss in the game?
Crisanta. Her design is really cool. I like how she wraps her sword in bandages. I actually researched that to see where the devs took inspiration from for that idea. It's in FF7 kinda, but I think the devs probably took the idea from real life. From what I've gathered swordsmen used to do that if they didn't have a sheath to protect the sword from rust.
The bossfight is really enjoyable because she has a similar moveset as you. It stands out from the other bosses in the game. Also I like that she helps you in the final true boss. It's a satisfying way to end the game. The devs really amped things up to 11 there.
>Congrats. Did it take you many tries?
Yes, a ton of tries but I really enjoyed the challenge.
Thanks anon
I knew the devs were beyond based with this
I thought the English voice acting was very good too
But enough talking about
Lmao, blasphekeks really are eternally assblasted by how superior HK is, to the point of delusion.
How does it feel to get mogged?
Blasphemous really is something special
I didn't play, tell me what's so good about the gameplay?
he is not going to answer your question
at least not with a thorough explanation
This is not a useful response, you could at least describe what you didn't like about the the gameplay rather than pretending you can predict everything anon is going to (not) say.
Rain World is goated but quite easy for new players to bounce off of because of its difficulty and how cryptic it is. It's also very much not a metroidvania in any aspect asides maybe world design. Very dynamic game that doesn't appear to be as fair as it is, once you know all the ways you can die at any time you can get out of anything with the right execution and preparation. I've played for 400+ hours and I recommend it highly if you like advanced movement systems and animals being goofy and vicious. Modded regions are pretty goated too if you're into that. Combat and movement are both significantly less jank than they initially appear to be.
Hollow Knight has issues but people love it for a reason, controls well, has plenty of content and is quite open ended after you get the wall jump, which isn't very far in.
I didn't get on with Dead Cells, maybe I need to try it again but it just didn't click with me. Ender Lilies is ok from what I played but the combat doesn't have that oomph you'd usually hope for because of the summoning thing, I know some anons really like it though.
Haven't played the others on your list but I'm pretty sure Bloodstained is supposed to be good. S+S used to get shit on for being Souls cash in but people that played it seemed to enjoy it, I should probably try it out someday.
You guys aren't really selling this to me.
Honestly, if you liked HK just play it. Its worth at least one play through, and I'll bet you end up doing back for NG+. It's a good game, it's just not god tier.
>This is not a useful response, you could at least describe what you didn't like about the the gameplay rather than pretending you can predict everything anon is going to (not) say.
refering to the anon you replied to, yes it is. blatant by all his posts ITT or posts with a similar vibe. blasphemousfags are often insanely insecure and just want to boast their often mediocre game while shitting on others without explaining whats bad about the later.
Want me to explain what i dislike? see :
Except add the fact most the drops you get are either
A. a boring trinket that gives you a bit of resistance to X damage type or 10% extra dick size
B. A collectible which is nothing except an item description saying the tale of Zanzibart (the two-sentence long tale of one of many non characters that never shows up)
It's just okay. Your character is slow, the sword upgrades do little to help with that, but there are items that can speed your character up. Most of the sword upgrades aren't particularly useful. It's a challenging game with very basic combat. People will say HK's combat is bland, but this game actually does have bland combat.
>challenging
the game's combat has almost no real challenge outside of ng+ superbosses
80% or more of deaths will be a result of spike pits, or just pits.
I would argue that the game the first time through is pretty difficult. You don't really know how to play, you don't know the bosses attacks, and you don't have the selection of ton of spells. The trio and burned face bosses rekt me quite a bit and so did the fire guy and the final boss. But the worst ones were the lady in the crypt and the second to last boss... they fucking destroyed me multiple times.
The NG+ super bosses can also be cheesed if you do the penances first.
>Beat the game + all penance and got every item
It's good, but it's not god tier in the gameplay department. I actually agree with others that the movement is meh. The art, soundtrack, and voice acting were all great though. I enjoyed this game a lot more than Ori, but not as much as HK.
Wow your indie pixelshit #263832 is so hecking epic mr. Thirdworlder
Been a couple of years since I beat the game, but basically learning to parry/riposte enemies saves you a lot of time when killing them.
Tbh only gripe I had was that 2 out of the last 3 boss fights were horrible/lackluster experiences. With the second to last boss, really feeling like the "true final boss of the game" and the final boss fight feels more of a novelty boss fight.
parries still take ages to kill fodder enemies like flaggelants
you don't have to parry every single enemy
iirc these guys die from 1 or 2 hits and won't even try to block you
bro im standing still slashing them 9 times until they die
game would be a lot better if they had tougher attacks and dodges instead of just a braindead damage sponge
>bro im standing still slashing them 9 times until they die
>game would be a lot better if they had tougher attacks and dodges instead of just a braindead damage sponge
There's something wrong with your game. I swear they always died from 2 hits maximum. Did you explore the map and get the sword upgrades? Maybe that's the problem.
no im at the very early game, i broke through a wall by the place with the sick people, found the guy with a face in his chest, and progressed foward from there
If it's too difficult try another route. The spongy enemies are only towards the end. Try to explore as much as possible to get the damage upgrades for mea culpa. The game rewards exploration a lot.
it wasnt difficulty it was just boredom
i really just wanted to ask if enemies were gonna be boring damage sponges for the entire game
No. You're doing something wrong if you're getting bored. The abilities you unlock Hispanice up the combat a lot and let you do tons of damage. You've clearly missed a lot of upgrades along the way.
ive just started, so i doubt i could have actually missed a lot of stuff
i had to stop playing to do something outside of home and i just started wondering whether or not the enemies would be bland dmg sponges
already done all of these
i slashed a lot of corners but all i really found was the secret path into the cistern
>ive just started, so i doubt i could have actually missed a lot of stuff
post your in-game map
if thread is still alive by the time i get home, sure
i just did this
>start game
>place with sick people
>find breakable wall
>go to cistern
>place with guys that throw spikes
>boring miniboss that throws lightning bolts that takes 999 slashes to kill
>progress a bit into next area
>have to quit
>"damn that was kinda lame "
So you're going to Jondo. It's not a tough area, better than going to Where Olive Trees Wither and Graveyard Peaks as your first destination. Have you already been to Mercy Dreams? It's usually the first place that people head to after reaching Albero.
>sponge
bro just how the fuck are you playing? My early enemies endure less than 6 seconds of combat.
To add to this, there are also hidden walls (and floors lol) which might contain bile flasks or other valuable things. You can refill bile flasks at those blood fountains which then increases the amount of flasks you have as well as just refills them if you're low on health. And read item descriptions and make use of beads.
Also, make sure to add marks on your map if there's something out of reach and you don't have the tools yet to get to it.
wow, this sounds just like hollow knight, metroid, souls games, etc. Is that what makes it so good and unique?
Yeah if only Blasphemous didn't steal their map and the ability to edit it from Dark Souls, real shame.
You need to get more combo attacks. A good start is the dash+attack, ascended slash and impale down. Also use the magic.
Christ almighty.
>Why aren’t I powerful at the very start of the game
Zoomers are so pathetic sometimes.
>why aint i powerful in the early game
is a pretty different thing from
>why are all the early game enemies so fucking boring
Sounds like a you problem. This game is plenty popular.
Slide attack into them, stun them, execute. 100% skill issue.
Exploration is really rewarding in this game because you know there's gonna be a new jaw-dropping background just around the corner. It felt like I was playing DS1 again.
>BRO LE HECKIN PIXELS
Do zoomers really?
I'm 29 and I don't recall seeing "heckin pixels" looking this good in a game before
it was bait
I know nothing about this game
Get owned
>captcha: 0VS0YX
It's bugging me that I can't tell what's the lore behind that statue. Sometimes devs put things because they're fitting without any story but maybe I'm missing something.
I barely remember any of the lore but isn't she supposed to be the area boss, and the golden tears are because she witnessed a miracle or got blessed by god or something like that?
There's no area boss like her. The only character that we read about and strongly connect with crying is Engracia. Not sure if that's her.
There's also the boy who witnessed the miracle where the knot of the three words is. Every year burning liquid gold runs, so that might be connected too.
>Exploration is really rewarding
You get rewarded by background graphics? Oh yeah, real reward there. How about something actually useful for playing the game.
Its like you people have deluded yourselves that this is some sort of a timeless masterpiece. It isnt.
Unironically.
I don't even know why there's some forced fanbase war happening because both Hollow Knight and Blasphemous understood the fucking homework.
First and foremost, a Metroid-like needs to have a well-realized world that isn't afraid to let players miss shit when they're exploring.
didnt get far i see
the thing that sux is the platforming/jumping
just like nes games where you have to be pixel perfect
also being attacked while your jumping
have fun.....
gameplay can kill all aesthetic a game has
Upgrade your weapon
Get hit less
Ta-dah you no longer suck
Play Grime instead, blasphemous is a slow boring game with almost no meaningful upgrade sand horrific """platforming"""
grime is the next in my list, looked nice
What even is with the HK vs Blasphemous fighting? Both of them are just somewhat above average entry level metroidvanias. They don't even really play at all similar.
Is it just the fact one is made by Hispanics and the other Aussie subhumans so autists from both of those "civilizations" are in some bucket of crabs situation where they try to drag the other down somehow even more?
>infighting
all i saw ITT was two retards that were butthurt over hollow knight existing
There was a straight up HK vs Blasphemous thread a few days ago.
But it seems closer to
, except instead of being what this anon says it's random anons who get massively assblasted over HK and lie about the game to pretend it's way worse than it actually is. No one attacks or cares about Blasphemous as much in return so you can't really call it a "fight", more just a funny schizo breakdown over a 5 year old game
Shut the fuck up retard.
thanks for proving his point
I didn't even read his post, you stupid cunt. Like I give a fuck about what you fucking losers have to say lmao fucking worthless pieces of shit kys

There is no “hk vs blasphemous“ but there is “hk vs every other metroidvania because hollow trannies got into the genre through their shitty flash game and decided all the other games are shit because they‘re not exactly like hollow knight“. They‘ve ruined all discussion of these games forever
funny you say that because what happened ITT was blasphemousfags crying out of nowhere over HK, even though both games were not directly compared
Op in the second fucking post of the thread admitted to being a hollow chud and all of his negative points boil down to the game being different from hollow knight. You‘ll notice this pattern in most metroidvania threads where “people“ are shitting on real games
>anon 2 : hey anon maybe try (other game in genre)
>anon 1 : already did, i think its good
>you : REEEE holllw trannies ruining the discussion, you just dont like it because its not identical!!! How dare you enjoy that chud pixelshit!
You are the detriment to the discussion. You are the tard unable to handle people being critical of your game.
One of my all time favorites is Ori, and that game is the polar opposite of Hollow Knight in every single way.
genuinely, unironically, stop being a retard.
And if you were in ori wotw threads when it launched you would know why i despise hollow trannies
i was and i barely saw seething over HK
maybe the game would bother you less if you stopped crying about it 24/7. there would be no mentions of the game ITT past the first two posts but you just had to be a bitch
This area is brutal when you're not used to it yet. The enemies in this level are the true damage sponges, even late game. Did the devs intend you to jump over most of them?
Yeah, the enemies in this area are tougher. I only jump over those who run, so the ones whose helmet you can see in that pic.
Also, who's your favorite boss in the game?
Congrats. Did it take you many tries?
I think the charged attack kills those electric ball maidens pretty quick. Or the blood boomerrang. Something wipes them out quick, been a while since I played.
The atmosphere and artwork are excellent, but the gameplay is mediocre. Bosses being damage sponges is annoying.
The bosses die in less than two minutes when you know what you’re doing.
i think its more about design than how long it takes to kill
>this enemy dodges and protects itself a lot, you dont attack them constantly and you need to work hard for very big hits, and their fair hp makes you kill them in 2 minutes
is way better than
>this enemy is pathetically easy to attack and barely defends itself, youre constantly slashing them, and their huge hp makes them take 2 minutes to kill
So you like the last boss then I take it. The giant with the face shield.
I need to finish this. I'm at the fire dude boss and I'm going for the true ending. It definitely wants to be a platformer but does not present the adequate set of tools and abilities to excel in such an ideology.
>fire dude boss
You don't have much left, the game picks up even more from that point.
>true ending
Break those kneeling stone statues and do the enemy challenges.
Yes I know I'm near the end. I arbitrarily never launch a game again with many games. Bad habit.
OP should play Salt and Sanctuary.
>OP should play Salt and Sanctuary.
Thats the second one on my list, after Grime. unless Crowsworn releases
SandS has deep lore.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_cJ_GxvoB1qVVBhUWM0bFFlcUE/view?resourcekey=0-u_AXl5Jo7bseIsvGz8t42Q
How the fuck is anybody supposed to figure out ending B in this game? The hint at the start could work if everybody didn't speak nonsense
>ending B
The true ending is 10 times as convoluted.
Just run past most enemies. It’s better ng+ but not the best
Adopting Souls mechanics like "health vials that refill at checkpoints" has been disastrous for the Metroidvania genre.
gameplay-wise it was a slog
Nah this game is great. You got filtered
>enemies are frequently shitty damage sponges (10~ slashes)
lol wut
are you just endlessly slashing at the shieldmaidens' shield or what
learn your parry timings, fag

epic!
epic for the win!!
^^ You have to be 18 or older to post on this site kiddo
Holy fuck, I really missed all this Blasphemous threads.
Art itself is what got me into this game and I do not even like platformers.
Managed to get all the way untill Crisanta boss fight (true ending) and got filtered there. Bit not by her, but by an elevator. When you die, the nearest checkpoint is one floor down from boss itself. You had to pass few screens and then call for that fucking elevator, w8 until it will get down and then w8 AGAIN until it will get you up.
I hope all hollow trannies die from elevator as well.
Man up and get the true ending anon. It's worth it.
thx bro. I will one day. It's just all this time which I invested in wiki and other forums just to understand how to not miss a thing and to open true ending, just drained me. That is why I guess I was filtered not by a boss but by a fucking elevator.
it's a sloooow ass game
idk how i finished it, but i did - even finished few secret bosses
art and music is pretty gud, but i wouldn't recommend to anyone to force themselves with this game
so yea OP, don't feel bad if you're gonna rage quit
Filtered
filtered implies there's something good past the filter. is there?
Battling Crisanta while hearing this was pure kino.
It opens up a little bit later, but nothing to crazy. I felt the same when I started, but I'm glad I finished it to the end.
no. like every game this shitty board praises to high heaven it's because of its aesthetics. i've played flip phone mobile shit games that are just as good
Name the games.
>metal gear rising

Wow, you chose games not even remotely similar. What was the point of that?
you can't fucking READ moron. esl's please get off my white man's board, thanks
Fuck you and you half assed attempt of talking about esthetic.
>Chrono trigger

>esthetic
there's no point in communicating with you because we belong to different species. you're biologically incapable of thinking on the same plane as a homo sapien.
>hg/ss
what does that stand for
Heart gold and soul silver I'm assuming
Nah, you just have shit taste and skill issues.
My favorite song from the soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mykw5E7pG44
That's such a tough question. It's hard to pick a favorite track. Every time I pick one, I find another one that I like more by a small margin. But they're all great. As much as I'm looking forward to Blasphemous 2 it's the same for its OST as long as Carlos Viola remains in charge.
Currently I listen to El Quejío the most.
And El Temple de Los Abanicos is my second favorite.
I dunno anon, there are so many good ones, for various reasons.
?t=837
?t=1140
?t=2879
I hate how I can barely enjoy the music in that stage.
Also that one, I forgot
Isidora is by far the best fight.
Literal skill issue, I was retrying it over and over and enjoyed it all the same
The entire soundtrack was good
The entire Blasphemous OST is based.
Eternally reclining archbishop is the highlight of the game, but Esdras fight is the best with a track to match.
>the church is... le bad guys!
very original
Whole game is about beliefs, not "church is le bad". Penitent One is also a "Christian". You would know this if you could read something more difficult than sign boards, moron.
not that anon but I agree with you, I felt like the story was a church civil war rather than "church vs anyone"
>game actually supports Christianity
The fuck are you on?
Don't you kill God in the last DLC or something?
Blasphemous was a JRPG!
*Catholicism
its alright. i was havin fun til u get the bridge part and unlock that half of the map. after that it got kinda boring. it was just more of the same.
are there any games like this and hollow knight but that have ZERO BACKTRACKING? Im tired of all these games having places you cant get to until you come back 30 hrs later. i am not gonna remember that shit or even want to do it
>metroidvania without backtracking
It's like asking for a car without wheels.
>based on a real place
andalucia is such a blessed place, bros...
I love the aesthethics and theme of the game. Music too. Absolutely top-class.
But my god the gameplay puts me to fucking sleep even during NG+ penance runs. It's so fucking boring and when it's not, it's just insanely annoying like the Bloodstained platforming challenges.
However, I will agree with everyone here that the best boss fights in the entire game are the DLC ones.
Is getting the true ending easy to figure out or am I a brainlet
There's a few easy to miss steps if you're not using a guide.
We using crt filters or not? 0/1/2/3/4?
If I had a real CRT I'd love to try the game on it, not sure about filters.
Why are shallow spike pits the most dangerous thing in this game?
Getting out of a spike pit seems quite a lot harder than getting slapped by whips/spears/pillars/flails and splashing some bile on your face after.
This game is so pretty. So many fantastic backgrounds. This one, the area of derelict churches, the Saint Petters Basilica rooftops.
Also, these sunshade thingies on the ground, do they have a name? They seem so familiar
maybe something that's used in processions as they're called the endless processions or something like that.
The combat was fine, even good in certain spots. Cristanta and Isidora was fantastic boss fights
Yeah it was cool to look at and I enjoyed it enough, but the combat was dull and I won't be playing it again.
I thought the game was balanced fine besides the DLC bosses being super overtuned.
Half-naked knight
I think this game have stuck out the most of all the games I've played the last 15 years
Why was she so special again, that she got such a kick as grave?
She is the founder of the anointed legion.
I missed that part.
To clarify, Escribar created the legion but Perpetva and her brother Esdras are the two leading members. Crisanta is the captain.
And yeah, it's easy to miss some crucial details.
This game is full to the brim with SOVL. I admit I'm a Spaniard so I love the style and aesthetic of the game, I think it completely nails it. I'm probably pretty biased because of it, but I actually quite enjoyed my time with the game. In the end it's nothing truly special but it's worth playing imo.
Should I get this game? I wasn't that big on Hollow Knight, I love Metroid and I was wondering if I should give this a shot. I was also looking into Axiom Verge.
On a sale. The game can be overly cryptic, and tedious at times. But, the music is fantastic, and it got some really striking bosses and art
Yeah definitely. They have a free demo on their steam page so give it a try. I didn't like Hollow Knight either. It's not a bad game but it was just meh and I find it way overrated. Also take a look at Ender Lilies, that and Blasphemous are the metroidvanias that I liked the most. And I just got myself La-Mulana since it was cheap on sale.
Nah.
You should go for Environment Station Alpha first and I guess AV if you like Metroid.
I check out the game on Twitch every now and then, and there's always like four-five Spaniards playing
I absolutely hate side scrollers, especially hard ones, but the visuals are so good that I actually played and got 100% cheevos in this game.
> and got 100% cheevos in this game
Based, me too. I've got over 115h poured into this game and I'm still itching for another playthrough.
>cant get 100% because begarden gnomeeled saint is bugged for me
Kinda hurts...
you forgot
>touching enemies damages you and it's the main source of damage received due to shitty hitboxes
>can make yourself invulnerable to all physical damage including contact before even getting to the the final boss on NG
Yeah, shitty hitboxes really got you down bro. Too bad you can't beat the game, cuz shitty hitboxes.
who the fuck are you talking to
bro I just entered the thread
the game is easy hence why touching enemies is the main source of damage
the only fun fight was the hydra because your parry mechanic is actually useful for once
Ok.
> the only fun fight was the hydra because your parry mechanic is actually useful for once
not that anon but what? Parry is extremely useful with many enemies and bosses.
if you're trying to optimize sure
but the whole game can be easily cleared with proper spacing and going under attacks
the hydra specifically has full screen attacks where you either run to the other end or just parry to stay next to the weakpoint, and due to how high the damage is on that fight you want to dps it asap
Hydra?
Anon probably wanted to say Serpent (Sierpes).
What enemy takes 10 hits to kill? Outside of bosses and those flying gays during platforming sections I don't remember anything being particularly hard.
I hope the sequel makes the game actually fun.
isnt bed times for nintenkiddies already? why are they up and shitting on anything thats not mario?
What games should I buy between this, Hollow Knight, Salt and Sanctuary, Death's Gambit, Dead Cells, Rain World, Bloodstained and Ender Lilies?
Never played many 2d sidescrollers so I don't know much what are universally agreed upon to be the best?
Give the money to me and play Captain Claw instead. Win/Win.
>Hollow knight
Skip, its a boss rush game were the devs didn't realize it should have been a boss rush since the start
>Salt and Sanctuary
1 is a literal souls game but 2D and platformer, 2 is more a 2D platformer monster hunter
>Dead Cells
Ok roguelike, the platforming kind of sucks and the way it handles difficulty is a mistake
>Bloodstained
Fun game, lots of spells to get but also easy to break if you are against that. It has massive discounts regularly so watch out for any major sale
Nice, know anything about the rest?
What's the difference between a Souls-like metroidvania and a metroid-like game? Are those more combat focused?
No, I've been meaning to play them
No real purpose in talking about generes too deeply, a youtube silent playtrough watch can tell you much more about it with reasonable accuracy
>What games should I buy
>buy
Stop being a tasteless pleb and play Igavanias. Y'know, the actual genre-defining games. SotN, Aria/Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin.
Or you could play Bloodstained:RotN, next-gen Igavania and a fun game in its own right.
hollow knight is exceptionally good
you should be able to figure that out by the fact many fans of other games are eternally assblasted over it
that aside
>extremely vast world with excellent interconnection. sadly early game is linear but that quickly goes away
>excellent lore
>top tier bossfights in lategame that mog 99% the genre
Hollow Knight. It starts a little slow but once it gets going it's very good.
Salt and Sanctuary is cool but I kept getting lost so I never finished it.
Don't like Deaths Gambit.
Rain World isn't really like any of the other games you mentioned, it doesn't have the same appeal but it's very much worth playing anyway.
Haven't played the others.
meant for
sorry
You forgot:
>contact damage in a soulslike
Has there been a metroidvania that has filtered as many people as Blasphemous?
pretty cool game but too many repetitive enemies
>DLC can only be accessed through the shitty NG+ mode where everything is a damage sponge, and it's sprinkled in randomly all over the map, so you need a guide to find it
What were they thinking? Are the new bosses or whatever worth firing up Cheat Engine to get to?
>does this get better later or is the entire game gonna be like this
No, plus it got to have one of the most boring and uninspired level design of any metroidvania, which is a shame seeing how much talent is in this game
This game is shit thankfully I didn't pay for it.
Blasphemous is alright, there is no reason to go with a new game+ outside achievements tho
I don't get why you can't keep every items in NG+ since the exploration is boring after you did it once already and you are forced to do new game+ for some of the DLC bosses
If you want the BEST metroidvania games, it's Rabi-ribi > La-Mulana > La-Mulana 2 > everything else is "okay/good" (Super Metroid, Blasphemous, Zero Mission) to mid (Hollow knight) to trash (SotN, Fusion)
>I CURSE YOU FOREVER IN NAME!
>I BLESS YOU FOREVER IN DEATH!
Is there a more Kino final boss monologue in existence?
Just use cheat engine or whatever to make all enemies die in 1 hit. The world and exploration is the only thing I liked about the game so I don't mind if you skip over the combat.
>Being proud of being a shitter
Top zozzle
I played the game legit, I'm just saying that it's perfectly fine to just skip over the games combat since that's not what it's really good at.
I would understand if it had something like *THAT* boss or something, but no.
OP here, returned after a bit
the damage sponge part quickly fixed itself but every other issue with the game became more apparent
>probably the most uninspired level design ive ever seen
>already killed two big bosses, not a single new movement skill. all you get is meme shit like blood platforms
>speaking of bosses, they were really basic, bland and easy
>game continues having no challenge or reasonable way to die other than instakill death pits
>the only way to regain health flasks is the extremely rare fountain, and the system continues doing nothing good, just makes me slow down the exploration sometimes
its really just generic and bland. theres nothing really special going for it other than some aesthetics. Even then, outside of enemy visuals the aesthetics are predominantly poor on most rooms. It relies on " THIS IS THE DEDICATED PRETTY BACKGROUND ROOM, PLEASE ENJOY IT!! ", when games like Ori have beauty in literally every single background.
at this point all i can hope for is that the ng+ dlc shit salvages it by making anything special
forgot to mention
The damage sponge fixing itself thing was also unsatisfying in its own way. I just wander into the hardly missable sword shrine for a massive damage buff that fixes it, which is fine... Then i get another sword shrine. then spend a small ammount of money for the dash slash and the stomp which just deals tons of damage against everything. It just went from 0 to 100 too fast with little effort, it doesnt feel like i worked for it at all
quite literally everything so far feels like the definition of bland
The best bosses are stuck in NG+ unfortunately.
Also, the gameplay mechanics genuinely don't get any better.
in that case then yeah i hope so. I was disappointed with how short and shallow the world seemed judging by the % completion but at least that might make ng+ more pleasant
These devs should go back to making point and clicks.
An anon said this when it first came out but it essentially just feels like Ghost and Goblins except melee.
Which is why the best fights are the ones that extensively force you to use the parry.
It’s shit, pretty looking, but still shit.
What did you expect from a bunch or retarded Hispanics?
Blasphemous in its native Spanish is one of the best arguments for games as art. It puts the SOUL in souls-like.
it had nice level design and great art and voice acting
i didn't care for the combat, but the other aspects made it really enjoyable
