Starters peaked in Gen 1. They are all perfect. Gen 3 is a close second. 4 comes in third.

Nope, Venusaur has always been the least popular and you were the weird kid if you picked him

Bulbasaur is still the most popular Kanto starter

He gets a little extra push nowadays because of the perception that he is the least popular + people are sick of Charizard for being the biggest shillmon

I agree, although I will always be a bit peeved that Gen 3 started the bipedal starter trend. Gen 1 had the best mix:
    >bipedal and flies
    >bipedal, but can go on all fours
    >quadrupedal

      4 has the same mix
      >bipedal but swims
      >bidepal but can go on all fours to run (monke)
      >quadrupedal

Blaziken ruins the gen 3 trio

      1 and 4 are perfect
      Blaziken is an anchor

      this

Swap Hoenn with Hisui and thats my list.
Nothing against Hoenn(Sceptile and Swampert are fantastic), but Blaziken feels kinda off. They're my 4th favorite at least

      overrated trash

Nope. This only applies to Kanto, Sinnoh, and Hoenn.
Galar and Unova are shat on endlessly.
Everything else is Neutral at best.

I don't really like any of the gen 3 mon much. For me gen 1 4 and 5 have the best starters.

I would agree that 1 had the best starters, but I think 4 > 3
Venusaur is a bit of a letdown considering how great Ivysaur is, but I still like it.

Gen 1 has Charizard and Blastoise doesn't hit as hard as Venu/Char do. Gen 3 is the only gen where all 3 final evos are bangers

I definitely think there's a clear division between Gens 1-4 and Gens 5-8. Gen 5 really felt like they were running out of ideas and no Gen after that has ever made me feel like that isn't still the case. That isn't to say they're bad per se, but there's a sharp contrast in quality.

I really prefer how the kanto pokemon looked in Sugimori's old water colour style. they look more monstrous and imposing. I get why they changed directions over time, I just wonder what things would have been like over the years if they stuck to how it was.
