No, stealing is bad, that's why they made a protagonist a cynical scowler who uses his magical stealth abilities selfishly for his own gain. And the targets tend to be unsavory or stuck-up types. Although fan mission authors sometimes like to tease the player by having a peasant's bedroom with a ring you can steal, but also a note saying "I saved up for months to buy this for you my love!"
stealing's good if you can get away with it. Remember to hit below the amount needed for a felony if you shoplift.
>inb4 lmao poorfag cant buy groceries
that poorfag will be (You) within a decade.
Let‘s imagine what Thief 4 could be like:
>you get to travel the city between mission like an open-world
>you have to actually prepare for missions yourself by going to shops to buy equipment, tracking down people, who could draw you a map in exchange for money and avoid thieves guild thugs, who want a cut
>you have to actually travel to remote locations in-game and this could be a whole mission in itself
>the city is the biggest city modeled in any video game yet
>you can visit the walled off city quarters full of zombies right after the tutorial, if you want to, despite not having access to any holy water
>you actually need to pay for rent, food, equipment between missions, but you get special dialogue and bonus content if you consistently save for Garrett‘s retirement
>Let‘s imagine what Thief 4 could be like:
i have bad news you
>That right garrett
Back off, I'll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
>Hey new guy. join my gang or else …
>you would be wise to join my gang
I was thinking about this game today. The cutscene where the Trickster reveals himself is so good. Garrett completely shits his pants in a way I've never seen any other game protagonist do.
name a game with better 3d sound
I never understood Thief until I configured it to run properly with EAX audio. Could not stop playing afterwards. It's SO fucking immersive.
Call me crazy but I think the EAX effects can meddle with your sense of directional sound with all the echo in some rooms. I now turn hardware acceleration on but EAX off.
Just like real life
I don't understand why people praise EAX. It's just added reverb and similar effects. It has nothing to do with audio quality or positional sound or how Thief's sound propagation works.
nostalgia for old sound tech that isn't being made anymore
Alien: Isolation, Soma, and TLoU Remastered (I played on PS4 with headphones) have superior positional audio to my ears. But what they don't have is Thief's roombrushes and sound propagation that makes it sound like noises are coming from open doorways and windows and such.
QUIT TAFFIN AROUND
>Town guard catches me.
>They forget the robed figure 30 seconds later.
>posting that fucking filth in the thread
Name a better villain.
The Trickster. This guy was just a butthurt loser mad that people made fun of his voice..
The Trickster was just a butthurt loser mad that people cut down his trees. Karras is way scarier. I mean, if you pissed Karras off, he'd kidnap you and subject you to body horror surgery to transform you into a mechanical slave for the elite. What would the Trickster do? Probably just kill you. it's not like he can steal your soul or anything, especially if you're a faithful member of the based Hammerites.
>team up with the antagonist from the first game
>sacrifice themselves so you can win
nobody has been brave enough to say it, but Karras looks like Alan Rickman
aww, I feel sad again
Nah, he looks like captain Picard.
Stealing is often seen as a negative thing, but let me tell you, it can be quite the thrill! Imagine the rush of sneaking around, looking for the perfect item to swipe. It's like a game of cat and mouse with the store security, and nothing beats the feeling of getting away with it. Plus, think of all the money you're saving by not paying for those things. You can finally afford that designer label or that fancy tech gadget you've had your eye on. And let's not forget the satisfaction of owning something that you didn't have to work hard for. So, next time you're tempted to steal something, remember, it's not just a crime, it's a chance for an adventure!
garret fuck victoria?
probably not enough time
Would be a good sequel premise. Victoria pregnate with Garrett baby, baby grow up to become a cunning rogue too.
The Hammerites have literally never done anything wrong in the Thief trilogy. In all 3 games, they're on the right side of the conflict. They fought the pagans, they fought the Hammerites, and a Hammerite inquisitor was directly responsible for the Hag being exposed. They even forgive Garrett for trashing their cathedrals in the climax of The Dark Project and team up with him to stop the pagans. All they ever did was fight evil and imprison criminals.
The Hammers are like the normal, moderate representative of Order while Garrett is the same for Chaos.
>3 ends perfectly settup to promise a sequel with a female protag.
>shit the bed and makes shitty nuThief.
If they made a Thief sequel today with that orphan girl as the protag, it would be a shitstorm on Ganker.
This was good, but I never finished it. I didn't care much for the protagonist - her sense of humor is meanspirited in a way Garrett's never was, and she often comes across as hypocritical. Unlike Garrett, the T2X chick is canonically a murderer, since there are unavoidable assassination objectives (and no penalty for killing, even on expert difficulty), so when she starts acting righteous about the pirates who killed her cousin, it comes off as insincere. The pagan guy who trained her was obviously suHispanicious, so maybe this concludes in some kind of character arc where she gets better, but I never finished it as I said.
I really didn't like this, the missions ranged from ok to shit and there were no good ones, let alone great
There's dozens of fan missions, even some minicampaigns that are individually infinitely better than anything this has to offer
Not if she was still a little girl
It wouldn‘t work, because human enemies wouldn‘t realistically violently attack her in most cases like they would Garrett and instead try to subdue her by wrestling her to the ground.
Only because she would be a loud-mouthed black woman with an afro, who is really concerned about social justice and a vegan, but can take on dockworkers 1vs3.
Not a cute, pale, unintentionally goth orphan girl using dexterity and skill to survive in a brutal world, where all men are stronger than her.
I was just thinking on replaying this.
I love this game so much.
