This is why EGS will never take off. The customers don't give a shit about the cut devs receive.

Because I, the consumer, couldn't give two fricks about the producer. As long as I get my desired product for the acceptable price, I don't give a damn how much money they make or lose.

        >>the prices are the same as other platforms
        To be fair

Would just kinda like steam to offer purchases in my currency but in the EU it's just not happening.

Is on to something and in some curriencies which ESG does provide purchase in it is slighly cheaper. Like 2-3 eurodollars which sure isn't much but not nothing.

The thing is, the thrifty people can buy steam keys from the likes of GMG, Fanatical, Gamesplanet, Gamebillet etc. The big 3rd party stores get the keys directly from publishers so it's all legit and they undercut steam prices heavily.
The likes of G2A and Kinguin are a different can of worms which I don't want to get into.
On the other hand you have EGS, which in most cases you can only the keys directly from EGS and maybe Humble (Bundle). If Timmy allowed publishers to put out their keys anywhere they want, then people would be a lot less apprehensive of EGS.

They don't steal 30% of their customer's money. Shit is the same price on Steam and EGS. I don't care about the devs getting a better cut. If anything, I want them to be more poor so they're more motivated to make an actual good sequel instead of a cashgrab.

You pay the same but if you buy on EGS you can be happy that publisher CEO can buy himself a new yacht this year instead of next year.

See, this is where EGS is fricking dogshit. Nevermind being a user, as a game developer, Valve's tools make dev jobs infinitely easier. Having a CDN, and an easy as frick SDK to deliver content is a game changer.
On EGS you have to create and host your own.

Just sell it yourself if steam is so evil, nothing they do is hard to copy. There are dozens of payment processors to choose from and templates for websites are so easy now morons can put something basic together with essentially no knowledge and for cheap. People treat steam like it's some evil monopoly blocking other entities from entering the market but the cost to actually enter the market is relatively low and nothing about their service is anything that couldn't be recreated. The fact is handling all the payments, compliance with local laws, distribution, accounts, visibility, categorization, cloud services, mod workshops at a 30% cut is a great value proposition for most developers and no matter how much they piss and shit they all come back because actually handling all those things means paying someone to do it in house for nearly the same price or doing it yourself incurring a large workload.
