Achievements would cooler if they rewarded skill or secrets or literally anything else and weren't just Complete Act 2 on Easy, Complete Act 2 on Normal, Complete Act 2 on Hard, Complete Act 2 as [Race]x13, Complete Act 2 without [Companion], Drink a Potion for the FIRST TIME, Die.

I'd imagine the only way to get banned with SAM is abusing it to get endless card drops through achievements because you can sell those for steam wallet money

Cards drop from playtime, not achievements

        Anonymous

Wait, so even if I already got some card drops, if I sell them, I can get some more after playing x amount of time?

          Anonymous

You can only get so many cards per game. Let's say a game has 10 unique cards, you'll only get 4 drops per game, regardless of how many you sold.

at least with dota tjey stop dropping after you get like 5 or 6 cards and then you have to spend x amount of money to get cards to drop again

achievements are only fun to get as a personal challenge to yourself, if you’re seriously comparing your achievements with other people on your friends list as an e-peen measuring contest you are a confused autistic fool

      Anonymous

yeah but i also like to know i am in ''super sekret'' statistic of small pool of people who did a rare achievement

        Anonymous

But if you cheated it you aren't in that small pool, you just cheated. You didn't actually get the achievement.
Unless you mean you literally jsut like that you cheated yourself into the statistic, which means you're just trying to compare your epeen to strangers.
All in all it's pretty pathetic.
Doesn't effect me in anyways but it's funny to think anyone's a big enough loser to want this.

          Anonymous

You sound like one of those "You didn't beat the game" losers. I have the achievement so that means I got it. I can do whatever the hell with a product I bought with my own money.

            Anonymous

I didn't tell you what to do I told you that you're a delusional loser.
an achievement is just a ticket you get for completing a challenge or milestone, it just shows that you did it.
If you buy a trophy for the 100 meter dash and put your name on it it doesn't mean you ran or won a 100 meter dash race.
it just means you're some pathetic weirdo trying to pretend he accomplished something, which is even sillier with achievements given how small of an accomplishment they are to begin with.

You notice that now? The FF remasters for example literally have built-in cheats for infinite items and money because achievments are meaningless on PC

  8. 2 weeks ago
    Anonymous

achievement autism has always been weird to me but so is like, speedrunning or knife only runs or whatever other self imposed challenges you can put in. weird isn't bad, so whatever

but getting upset over being able to cheat in a self imposed challenge IS a bad level of weird. it's like, you can cheat at all kinds of self imposed goals. why would you care?

      Anonymous

it's because achievements are a means of validation for those kinds of people. I feel achievements are best viewed as a means to get better at a game and experience what the game has to offer. others see things like Steam achievements as "worthless" because others are able to cheat them. they need the rarity number to be legitimate to give them validation.
when others have mentioned, "you can just cheat the Steam achievements," my usual reaction is, "well, have you considered playing the game and just....I dunno, not doing that?"

      Anonymous

Actual achievement hunters do not give a shit since it is just a personal challenge but with a tracker. The only people who make a big deal out of SAM are fags like op who do not care about the experience of gettinf them so they try to rub it at faces of people who hunt for achievements.

As long as you know it was legit, who cares? And even if you wanted to prove it to a person or whatever, you could do it via all your savegames. There are certain completion savegames you can just download of course but with all the previous savegames leading to your complete one, there wouldn't be a doubt. But that's a fictional scenario because no one cares about other people's achievments. Stop being a fag

      Anonymous

Also 99% of people that use SAM will fuck up the order of unlocking them or just unlock all the achievements at once. A legit player will have the correct achievement progression.

a recent exception to this is MH:Rise Sunbreak
they only added achievements a month or two after the expansion came out so it actually punished any completionists who already did everything by giving us the achievements unlocked all at the same day and time

The achievements are there for you so if you really like the game it gives you something to do when you replay it, or it gives you a estimate of how much of the game secrets/features you missed. 100% for other people sake doesn't make any sense.

    >There is no point in 100%ing
Yes, there never was a point to 100% any game. You don't get paid, you don't get pussy, you don't get anything other than a badge for wasting your time.

  18. 2 weeks ago

Why do you care about others' achievments? They don't even give XP or whatever. They're just here for fun. I've used SAM to unlock achievements I'm meant to have but don't because of a glitch or another. I don't really care about what others have or don't have or if they unlocked it by cheating or not. If that's enough to get you upset to the point of making a whole thread about it, you probably have some deeper issues you might need to worry about.

I've done the same I think twice where I have the achievement in-game but doesn't work on steam and people bitch about the same on the discussion area. I refuse to believe there are "people" who do achievements for some sort of acknowledgement from other people.

Everyone still calls them cheevos. Not disdainfully though.

  35. 2 weeks ago

Only time I've heard of people doing this is for that one TF2 weapon locked behind a game with a rootkit.
Cheevos are mostly used by devs as analytics to see where people stop playing. Very few of them are worth bragging about.

I'm an achievementfag and I can't imagine why anyone would care about the fact there are cheaters out there. Better achievement tracking sites like Astats ban suspected cheaters anyway, so if you care and are really into it, just don't believe the raw Steam numbers. Also, why does every achievement thread have to be a bait thread where we argue about achievements as a fucking concept. I just want to shoot the shit about games I 100%'d, is that so fucking wrong

Not really related, but I accidentally installed an 'achievement unlocker' mod on one of my games.
