It's a shitty toy but at least this one has a few games on it
Wrong board
Objectively better than the switch, but if you're going to use it like a PC then you should just get a PC. If you're going to use it while traveling then it's the best handheld you can buy outside of a full gaming laptop which will run you close to 2k for a good one.
Switch has detachable controllers for multiplayer. Mario Party is fun.
Don't frickin lie, Mario Party on the Switch sucks, play the originals.
Superstars is one of the best Mario Party games
only 4 posts before one of you spergs brings up Nintendo
rent fricking free
>Literally the only comparison point outside of chink shit
>HURR DURR RENT FREE
Lmaoing at your moronness, buddy.
don't be mad that someone thinks their toy is better than your toy anon, it's unbecoming of you
And it won't sell 5% of what the Switch sold
Why should consumer care about that?
You can get a laptop more powerful than the deck for less than 1k anon...
Why would you get a laptop instead of a desktop PC? Even the 3000$ gaming laptops struggle to get more than 60 minutes of battery life and >30fps in any demanding game when not plugged in, and if you're gonna use a device plugged in all the time, why get a laptop?
>Is it good
No one fricking knows because Valve can't keep up with the demand as always.
Mine just shipped, suck it
Yes it is
What's the battery life? Is it at least 8 hours?
>at least 8 hours
It barely gets half or a quarter of the battery life of 3rd party switch games on comparable settings
>50% to 80% today on the calculator
Getting mine next week bros...
This is objectively false. It gets the same amount of battery life as Doom on twice the res and graphical fidelity. have a nice day Chang.
https://reviews2go.com/2018/08/06/nintendo-switch-battery-life-chart-2/
>3 1/2 hours for the Deck
>3 hours and 18 minutes on a Switch with low brightness and airplane mode (with worse settings and 480p res mind you)
Same with Eternal. Couldn't find battery data on Ghost Runner for Switch but I'm sure it's the exact same story, albeit with the Switch running that game at 20fps lower than low settings.
>Chang runs with his tail between his legs when his pathetic paper thin shitposts get destroyed by reality
As expected.
The Steam Deck has a much better battery life than the Switch even running games at significantly higher settings.
This is common knowledge but Chang doesn't care. He'll continue posting outright lies like the bug subhuman he is.
>battery life testing
Yeah sure whatever you say. Unfortunately live tests have proven the exact opposite. You're just a biased moron
Your post sounds like cope, Phawx has tested playing around with the Deck's wattage, and he managed to get more than 3 hours of battery playing Control, a game the Switch can't even run natively, but has a "cloud version" instead (read: you play using Nintendo's servers and gotta deal with latency issues)
>your a liar, here's 3 hours of this shit unoptimized piece of garbage running on an os it wasn't designed for and lasting only 3 hours! Take that homosexual!
Do steamies really?
cope harder, there's evidence its battery life is good if the user knows what he's doing
Look at this, portal 2 with better than switch settings getting 6 and half hours, tendies just lie to cope.
Not sure if it's possible but if Valve could make battery life saving settings a single button click, and it would reduce the screen refresh rate to 40hz, make games pick whatever setting allows for stable 30fps, also lower graphical fidelity to save battery, that feature would be a handy thing for the people who don't like tinkering too much.
the only comparison i have is mhrise as i've played it on both handhelds
the battery on deck lasts longer that switch even though it runs at much higher res, double fps, and higher graphical settings
The battery life is the only thing that disappointed me about the Deck, so if Switch has it even worse then I feel genuinely bad for Switchgays, lol.
Lying c**t.
Based battery life poster
Better than the chinkshit you shill.
Hello plebbit mod
That makes no sense.
If you run the games at Switch level quality (Low, sup 720p) you will get Switch comparable battery life.
>you will get Switch comparable battery life
You will get significantly better battery life.
You forgot your image chink
The battery life and thermal situation were obviously going to be suboptimal, with a x86_64 processor in the thing. The Switch is ARM, which is way more power-efficient. There really isn't a better option for running existing PC games without some insanely-advanced recompiler, like what Dolphin's dynrec does, and that's going from PowerPC to x86_64. x86_64 to ARM while maintaining any performance at all would be a herculean task.
What I'm reading, though, is that you can often get a battery life of upwards of 4 hours by locking to 30fps, and you wouldn't get much better than that battery life or framerate on the Switch anyway.
Frick off, dipshit. I want a Deck, but there's nothing valuable about shutting off your brain and denying reality.
>30fps sub 720p is only acceptable when valve does it
Or
>the battery life is only 2 hours but at least it's 60fps!
Holy shit the copium
I said neither of those things. Your attempts at shit-flinging are pathetic.
>moron who knows literally nothing about ISA
>trying to authoritatively claim that power consumption is due to ISA
Pathetic beyond words, techlet.
Frick off moron, you know nothing.
Heavily depends on the game. Indie pixelshit will get you 6 hours no problem. God of War will be lucky to get 2 hours.
>BUTBUT WHAT ABOUT CHINESE HANDHELDS?!
Westcucks have Chinese living rent free in their minds lmao.
You can stretch it pretty far if you know what you're doing. You can get 8 hours with older console emulation and indieshit by tweaking shit.
Protip: turning off boost clocks with powertools will get you a large amount more runtime.
what if I'm computer illiterate and don't know what that means
Nothing a few minutes on Google won't fix
but I'm stupid
I tried downloading emudeck and hit advanced just to see the available options and I didn't even know what I was looking at
A huge strength of the device is being able to tinker. If you're willing to learn then go for it, but if that turns you off and I want a more consolegay/moron friendly experience then I would suggest against it.
responding to this as many times as i can over the next 378 posts, absolutely legendary m8 bravo
Only when playing some 2D pixelshit at very constrained power settings.
battery schizo is back
how's biz going?
it's not a replacement for an actual gaming PC but I am enjoying mine a lot as a handheld. I do plan on getting a small portable keyboard/mouse setup to go along with it at some point for a larger variety of games to play when I have down time at work.
ha, frick no. battery life is probably the most disappointing thing about it. a couple hours for some light gaming.
How does 2 sound?
>FTL
Nice. If you're using a Deck for any of those other games instead of a PC, you're dumb. God intended handhelds for 2d/indie games.
excellent bait
Yes
i forgot i had reserved the most expensive version. I don't have a gaming laptop or an iPad just a pc, I like the idea of having a desktop kinda sorta..is the internet-ing decent on it?
I kinda wanna play steam games on my tv would this make that easier or do I get something with the steamlink app?
Use Chrome for internet, FF has issues. Steam link works well but i have the steam link itself and not the app.
Don't forget you can get a USB hub with HDMI out and hook it up to an external monitor. Grab a M&K and you can turn your Deck into a desktop PC. Bonus points if it has an ethernet port to download games faster.
I like mine. Tired of my switch catalog of 2010s indie hits. I can now play 2010s A titles
Finally got this on sale for €3. Pirated versions wouldnt launch, but this does beautifully. Go figure
fellow sunset overdrive chad detected
Is there a way to stream my PC desktop to the Deck? I know that you can stream individual games from it but I want access to my whole PC.
I already tried adding Explorer.exe as a non-Steam game and selecting it on the Deck to stream, but it doesn't launch the stream or do anything.
Sunshine on PC, moonlight on deck. Just share the usb for the controller over IP to desktop.
>what is Remote Play?
google it up
homie I said right in my post I've tried it. It works perfect for games but it doesn't work getting to my desktop. I want to be able to stream my whole PC to my deck and control it like the deck's desktop mode.
Download the steam link app and go from there... Unless steam link isn't on Linux
Parsec
the only right answer
I'm definitely getting the Steam Deck 2. all it. needs is a better apu and battery. easy upgrade for them.
I'm very content with the actual performance, would love a bigger battery and more storage though.
Great. You will have to wait longer cuz it will release in 2027.
I'm coming home soon, bros.....
10 day moron here. I could have reserved in the first 10 mins but I put it off.
You will get it sooner than you think. I have jumped over 60% in the last 4 email cycles.
it's great if you want to play counter-strike while you're not at home, think about it
So do you guys see yourself playing anything on it after the honeymoon phase? I unironically thought VR would change the future of gayming at first and now my headset has just been collecting dust for like a year.
Yeah but I don't see myself only playing on my Deck. Switch Oled is unironically a good handheld albeit overpriced and dry on features. The battery life on that thing is amazing.
I don't see much reason not to almost exclusively play all my games on PC when I want to play vidya at my desk, and my deck for when I want to play vidya in every other situation. Especially considering PS5/Xbox Series have no fricking games and a lot of the best Switch stuff runs perfect, and the stuff that doesn't run perfect likely will run perfect eventually.
The honeymoon phase already ended for me and I'm still using it. It's effectively replaced my laptop and some stuff I would normally do on my phone.
I'm still playing it every night in bed for like an hour. Have had it for about a month. Trucking through BoF still, but have also been playing through The Darkness for PS3.
This is the happiest I've been with a new piece of hardware in like well over 10 years.
absolutely. I still use my 3DS almost 8 years after getting it and there is a way bigger variety of stuff to play on the Steam Deck.
if you plan on using it for browsing the internet and shitposting on Ganker then you should definitely look into getting a keyboard to pair with it. I'm thinking about getting pic related personally just so I don't have to use the touch screen. it's not that it isn't functional, I just don't want finger smudges all over my screen constantly.
as for the steam link comparison, I have no clue there.
That's a tempting purchase. Find me a power adapter and spring loaded cable that can be taken out of one's pocket and plugged into the wall within 15 seconds and I'm sold on a Steam Deck.
The honeymoon phase is long gone and all that's left is a vastly better switch replacement. This is the future for handhelds.
until pirating games gets easier, the switch still has its place
It's super easy to pirate on the deck though. Way easier than jailbreaking the switch.
how do you do it then?
Run em through wine or proton. Get Lutris while you're at it. Simple as.
Doesn't fricking work. I try running the game .exe, the setup.exe, nothing doing.
Werks on my machine.
well then I guess my machine is special
more likely you're special
maybe. either way the bottom line is nothing I do makes my pirated games playable on this fricking machine and any guide I try to find leads me nowhere
If you say some more about what you tried and where you got stuck maybe I'll be able to help you.
>Tried Lutris
>Whenever I open it I get a warning that I don't have Vulkan support for i386 architecture
>Whenever I try to load a game through it the wine prefix I made doesn't work
>Try q4wine
>Try to run the game.exe
>Nothing happens
>Try to run the setup.exe
>Nothing happens
In Lutris did you go to "Wine > Manage Versions" and installed a custom Wine build (e.g. lutris-7.2-2)?
Bro if you can use a linux machine then you can pirate stuff with your eyes shut. Stop being moronic.
first time using linux because I'm not autistic
cream.api doesn't work on the deck. linux is worthless
add installer as a non-steam game, launch the installer, remove from steam and add the game itself where it was installed and steam is smart enough to manage the prefixes for you
all I know is that I jailbroke my switch in a few minutes with one easy guide. I've yet to see anyone who couild explain how to pirate shit on the deck outside of "lol just do it bro"
I'm not sure what's confusing you about it. What games are you trying to pirate that are giving you trouble? I've downloaded shitloads of roms and with emudeck it was extremely easy to play them. For normal games you just run the exe through protonge or wine.
Literally just do it. Do you seriously need a guide on how to find skidrow reloaded or fitgirl and run the installer through wine.....? That's a you problem buddy, literally easier than jailbreaking the switch
i'm cackling at the idea of someone directly installing a fitgirl repack on the deck and spending all that time decompressing it
My Deck replaced my Switch that I never used. Its been amazing for a whole month, I deopped my Switch after finishjng Mario. So no, its not a fad, its a proper direction towards open platforms with shit ton of games and great performence. It absolutely mogs the Switch its embarassing.
It's a PC, consoles are never gonna turn into PCs.
Sure, if a PC means literally all the same/better features of consoles and all the games lmao.
So basically a console for non-idiots.
Let's gloss over that you're emulating on Linux and you're not buying a console. Now that you've wiped the Valve cum off your lips, no, you're not buying this thing as a Switch replacement; that's stupid, you can pay $100 less and have a Switch. You're buying a PC with a controller and a screen built in.
"Well what's the difference lmao!" you ask, a bubble of sperm popping as you exhale.
The difference is one wants Vulkan support so that it can emulate 3D Switch games worth a pinch.
>have ti be a valve fan to like a great product
Lmfao, are you a poorgay?
I already replaced my Switch because i like games and the Switch has no games. The Steam Deck has more cheaper games, no online fees, so fricking much more over the Switch, you are only embarassjning yourself.
You sound mad dude, and obsessed with cum in your mouth from the look of it. Thats not the "own" you think it is, you sound like a stupid fricking fanboy.
THE SWITCH HAS NO GAMES!!!!!
THAT'S WHY I BOUGHT THIS MORE EXPENSIVE THING!!!!! IT'S A SWITCH WITH GAMES!!!!!! I BOUGHT THIS TO REPLACE THE SWITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!! U MAD!!!!!!!!!!!
cool it with the autism buddy, you're in every single Steam Deck thread with this shit recently
Ganker is a schizo playground
The switch has no games, correct.
It wasnt more expensive, I already had a massive library, wrong.
Its not a Switch, its a Deck, has games, and shit that the Switch will never have like good online, free cloud saves, cheap games, performance, ergonomics, on the fly settings like TDP, emulation up the ass, voice chat built in, etc etc.
Why do tendies like you get so mad over something so much better?
>dock for switch style tv shit, except now with a pc library
>also dock for pseudo pc stuff in a convenient form factor if i have kbm, giving it actual utility
>emulation up to switch/some ps3
Waiting on mine right now but I am excited at all the use cases I've been mulling over.
Dude the Deck will change what you think of portables. Its amazing. Its like the Switch but if the Switch was actually worth owning.
Shill
Dont need to shill something amazing. Nice poorgay response.
sneed
Assuming you're starting with absolutely nothing for PC parts, Steam Deck flattens anything you could get for its price-range even for a desktop computer. Before any neckbeard starts to REE at me about how that's not true,
>Case
>Motherboard
>RAM
>CPU
>PSU
>GPU
>CPU cooler (optional, most CPUs come with one)
You will not do better than Steam Deck at any of its price-points when taking into account the cost of a full gaming rig
But it's also a pretty subpar experience compared to a gaming PC. One does not replace the other, they are compliments.
>bought the most expensive deck instead of a PC
am I stupid?
It's more money but you can also put it into a USB-C dock with a mouse/keyboard/monitor and it's a PC.
It is a PC on a battery, at the end of the day.
I was waiting for the official dock to come out but it got delayed
now I actually have the thing and don't know what to do because I wanna hook it up for fighting games and stuff
The dock is just a glorified USB C hub. You can get them for like 15 bucks
But you need to be careful since certain ones are Chink (read: poorly made and burn the house down) shit or brick the deck if more power draw than needed.
>But Valve firmware updated!
Doesn't fix the ones that came out AFTER that.
Docks like the JSAUX one aren't going to brick the deck, anon. Docks bricking the Switch was only a problem with the Switch since it's not actually compliant with the USB-C standard and has insufficient overcurrent protection. Even normal devices being plugged into the USB-C port can fry a Switch.
And if we're being truthful here, that's not a deck-exclusive problem. Chink devices just cause housefires in general. Always be careful what you're plugging into your devices.
>Even normal devices being plugged into the USB-C port can fry a Switch
wait what
should I not be using my phone charger with my switch then?
I would recommend against using a phone charger unless it's an older one that isn't a fastcharger.
See if there's a dock by Anker that tickles your fancy.
but I don't want to get a generic one only for the official one to come out soon afterward
The official one will be basically the same thing, a USB-C dock with Power Delivery charging/HDMI out/multi-port USB hub. You can always look at docking stations purpose built for Steam Deck if you want something tailored to it, JSAUX has one that looks pretty much like the real thing but you'll have to wait a couple weeks for delivery. https://www.jsaux.com/products/upgraded-docking-station-for-steam-deck
If you weren’t willing to spend 1500 minimum on a PC then I would say no.
I probably would be willing to shell out for a really good machine but I'm too overwhelmed by the prospect of it all to go through with it
I can't handle having so many choices and there's so much shit I'm clueless about
There’s not nearly as many options as you think there are. It’s a pretty fast process of elimination. Using windows? Get an nvidia card. AMD for linux. The CPU you pick will determine what motherboard you get because it has to fit the socket. The PSU has to support the power draw of the CPU and GPU. Go ask for help on a /pcbg/ on Ganker.
anon I already have my steam deck and my room is literally out of space because I haven't cleaned it in 7 years
I can't put a computer anywhere even if I wanted to
'ick on the 'eck

this the birth of a new schizo bros?
Got my deck today. Decided to download some games but my saves did not transfer over. I've got a few games that are behaving like this. Do I need to manually move over my saves? Will I have to do this everytime I change from playing on my PC to the Deck?
Force an upload to Steam Cloud if possible
If not possible, yeah you can probably manually move over your saves; get Warpinator from the Discover program and get Winpinator for Windows
The game has to support steam cloud saves, otherwise you gotta do it manually. Most games do though so I’m curious as to what you’re trying to play.
Dark Souls 3, it doesn't have the steam cloud option, it looks like. DS1 has the icon. I'm going to install that and see what happens.
Thanks, anon.
Oh yeah, you have to manually dick around with DS3 saves. Make sure you keep a backup somewhere for when you do your regular PC resetting as well
It doesn't exist otherwise i'd have one already.
The analog sticks suck ass but the level of customization is blowing me away. The trackpads are genius and I need a normal controller that uses them
I think the stick are top notch. The only issues I have with the physical hardware are the bumpers. Dual stage triggers would have been nice too.
I really hate the flat tops. Feels like I have to really push my finger in to maneuver the stick
I still have no idea how loud the deck is. The morons on youtube don't understand that they can't just fricking record a sound and say "SEE, IT'S THIS LOUD!" It's relative. Sound is R E L A T I V E. JFC, pick something everyone knows how loud it is, record it from a distance, then record the steam deck's sounds from that same distance.
is there some resource I can use to get settings optimized for certain games?
I tried tf2 on it and it was kind of neat but I have no idea how to optimize it performance wise or what the best controls would be
I can't decide if I want to use the stick or the trackpad
I'd enable gyro and see if you can get accustomed to playing it Splatoon style, use gyro for fine aim and the stick or trackpad for broad movements
I always use gyro for any kind of FPS/TPS or just any kind of aiming in general. The question is what to do for broad movement. You can do high sensitivity stick/trackpads for broad movement and or you could do flick stick. Paired with gyro for precision, any input or combination of inputs above is workable.
>performance wise
Performance is mostly just common sense. You have a lot of ram to work with so anything related to textures can go as high as you want. The taxing settings are going to be things like MSAA and shadows, but on a game from a over decade ago like TF2 that could run at toasters even at the time it came out, it doesn't really matter.
>but on a game from a over decade ago like TF2 that could run at toasters even at the time it came out, it doesn't really matter.
I remember everybody was jerking off TF2 Classic and Open Fortress over how much better they ran when they first appeared on the community's radar, then I tried them and they unironically do not run any better than actual default TF2 does. Actually they run a lot worse in high-intensity areas like a bunch of people fighting at once, and TF2 Classic is also fond of moronic player-counts like 32v32, so any performance gains are motot
It's gonna take some experimentation to find what works best for you. Thats kind of the fun part though. Just install some games or Emus and play around with community controls and options.
I can't get tf2 to run at a consistent 60fps
I don't know what to set
As a last restort you could run the game at 600p with FSR on, that should do it
where do I enable fsr?
Quick access menu (... button). It just sharpens the image for low resolutions.
what do I set the sharpness to?
I can only set tf2 to run at 720x480 besides the native res
do I run windowes or fullscreen?
Whatever looks best for you. And you might as well run fullscreen, you don't need it in a window
it seems like it runs worse in fullscreen
vertical sync on or off?
off
see if on gets you anywhere
Vsync off always on steam deck (you get vsync anyway if you use the framelimiter, but even with it off i've never noticed tearing). You might want to try running the windows version running on proton, could give better performance. Just delete the files, set it to run with Proton Experimental in compatability options, and re-download. That will force the windows version over the linux version.
how do I know whether a game has a linux version and whether I'm running it or not?
what proton should I be picking in the settings and when? I have the latest version of proton GE
You don't really, if a Linux version exists it will download that one first though. You can run every game on the latest GE, that's ideal actually
is GE just the best option all the time?
what happens if I pick that and the game has a linux version?
You have to pick it in the game specific compatabitility options and then it will switch to the windows version. Some games like rocket league it's necessary to get the game working at all. GE is better yes, it's all the code of base Proton + a newer version of WINE + lots of codecs and game-specific fixes not in Proton. It used to have performance benefits as well with gamemode until some trannies got butthurt.
I'm genuinely impressed at how well it handles something like Elden Ring. I fully expected the experience to be on the shitty end of 'okay' but it's actually very playable and the FPS is pretty solid, all things considered.
Someone give me a quick rundown on Steam Input "chords". What's the best use case for this kind of stuff?
I've only finally figured out using the left track pad with the radial menu. The contriller customization makes me feel like a brainlet.
Cords are just any easy way to map more shit to the same buttons. It basically just multiplies the number of buttons you have to work with if you have a shoulder button free. You can do the same shit with action layers but sometimes action layers feel way less responsive when you bind them as a hold on a trigger or shoulder button.
In AoE2 all of my face buttons and dpad are unit commands, if I hold down a bumper, the same face buttons become a way to access control groups. I use cords but they are messy as frick and difficult to keep track of because they quickly clutter up the config menu. If I didn't have responsiveness problems with action layers I would be using those instead.
Anyone else still having trouble pirating PC games? I literally can't get a single one to work regardless of if I use lutris or q4wine or whatever
I know Ryujinx recently got updated with Vulkan support. How's it been for Switch emulation performance on the Deck?
it's just a worse yuzu now, only relevant if you used ryuujinx for online.
i still use both, but only use ryuujinx for openGL and the like 5% of games that don't already run on yuzu
I don't know how it is as a first time gaming PC. One thing is that its price to performance is absolutely unmatched by any PC or laptop so you have that advantage. I think it's a nice secondary device to have for people who already have lots of PC games, but hey some people only like playing handhelds so for them, the Deck is pretty much the most accessible way to play multiplats, in that regard it really shits all over the Switch, that only really shines if you love Nintendo exclusives and don't care about much else.
The Switch is much, much easier to pirate for.
?
it's fricking impossible to pirate for this console unless you're experienced in linux whereas with the switch it's as simple as downloading the firmware and then some NSPs/XCIs
The frick are you talling about? It's piss easy to play pirated shit on the Deck.
Bruh, are you moronic? Unless it's some Anti-Cheat shit, you can run pirated stuff quite easily. You can even do that with Steam itself ("Add a non-steam game to my library")
If you want to use it as a desktop you're better off splurging a little more and building a tower, but as a handheld it is bar none for its price to performance and it's not even close.
Here's what I spent on my deck and accessories
>$400 deck
>$20 256gb hynix ssd (same one as the downgraded decks but it doesn't impact performance at all apparently according to youtube testers.) it's enough for me at least until i see some better samsung 1tb sd card sales.
>NS-PWLB80R power bank for ~$30. can charge a deck twice over and keep up with power draw.
>$30 fan kit from ifixit. might not even need it.
>might get the $25 dbrand screen protector kit or a matte one, still deciding.
That's like $505 total for a device that can play AAA on battery in my hands for 6 hours at least. Laptops btfo.
I'd probably get the Dbrand kit, I'm impressed by how good the anti-oil coating is on it.
Thanks anon. I was really considering them too. I'm impressed with the console accessories I've bought from them.
>that can play AAA on battery in my hands for 6 hours at least
you don’t have to lie
Leart to read moron. He bought a powerbank.
>>NS-PWLB80R power bank for ~$30. can charge a deck twice over and keep up with power draw.
The deck can already play the majority of AAA longer than 2 hours at framecaps you would want to use, especially with FSR. Portable batteries were already tested and good ones keep up with the power draw. No need to cope that you got one for $70.
why does every deck thread read like shilling?
what, should we all dump on it instead? yeh m8 i'll find faults that don't exist with my $529 piece of hardware because somebody's worried about viral marketing. for VALVE SOFTWARE.
could you at least stop making every post "THIS IS THE NEXT GENERATION OF HANDHELD GAMING GET YOUR STEAM (TM) DECK TODAY"
Closest i came to owning one was when a coworker brought his in. Its surprisingly lighter than I thought. Every reviewer made it seem like the damn thing would be like holding a brick. Just touching his has renewed hype for mine. Where the FRICK is my email, Gaben?
if i had one id be playing emulators on it i bet its good with that
Of my UMPCs it's my favorite even if it's less powerful than my Onexplayer and winmax. If you want a umpc the deck is a no brainer
The Deck is more powerful than those though, the GPU runs circles around the Intel Xe in the win max, the other thing has a Vega iGPu if memory serves me right
"running circles" is a stretch anon, and at what wattage? These are important details.
it's actually a bloodbath to compare a Deck or any RNDA2 iGPUs to Intel Xe, Intel has the worst drivers in the business, you know they have stutters in certain games, their drivers cause frametime wonkery and they also do not behave well at very low wattage compared to any Ryzens or the Deck's Van Gogh. The 6800U is a bit better than the Deck's hardware. I would recommend skipping any Intel based iGPU devices meant for gayming if one wants good battery life and good performance. Also the 1260P is the next gen compared to the Tiger Lake the Win max 1 uses
>6800U is a bit better than the Deck's hardware.
Cant wait for the kickstarters to under deliver and the performance benchmarks to be worse.
can't pirate dlc on linux. bought this piece of shit for map games but can't play them properly because linux is trash. seething rn
Just put the dlc in the prefix where it belongs, boyo
it doesn't work on steam deck and was confirmed not to work on r/linuxcracksupport 6 hours ago. no one on the internet has posted evidence of it working because it doesn't.
It's a good deal, especially if you don't mind playing it on a wall plug. You can get so many games for dirt cheap on steam that it automatically beats out the switch. Most switch games have knockoffs on steam, some are just bad, some might even be better but there is so many more games that it's hard not to compare it to the switch and recommend it over.
what went wrong?
damn homie this is some old bait, haven't seen it in months
Nothing, its amazing.
ya the gamut coverage
Literally nothing. Best console I've ever bought. Makes me feel like a moron for buying a Switch.
Literally everything. Worst console I've ever bought. Makes me feel like a moron for not buying a Switch OLED instead.
Jedi Order is better than KOTOR 2
How could it be bad? It's a better Switch. More power, more games, more input options, better ergonomics. The battery life is unreal for the performance you get. You can pirate. You can emulate. It's cheap, and you don't need an expensive-ass proprietary dock or a subscription to play online. If you need proof of its success, just look at how Nintendo fans sperg out and seethe in any Steam Deck thread. Shit the thing has turned one dude into a literal schizophrenic.
>Nintendo fans sperg out and seethe
I see loads of BR console warriors but never any of these "Nintendo fans" people swear up and down are here. This includes the schizo you're mentioning.
So youre lying then, because Switch fans spam multiple times daily shitposting threads and then victimize themselves.
Boy you are so desperate for a console war that you're almost horny for it.
So tendie denial then? You are denying reality eh?
I'm not a tendie, Eric.
There he is
You called it man, hes in every Deck thread because hes an insecure c**t.
Calm down Eric.
Is everyone Eric to you, you dumb ugly c**t?
No, just your easily recognisable snoytroony ass.
I mean I was Eric last week, I guess I take the torch again from the other 20 people you called it. What the frick does Sony have to do with anything?
Man I would love to just slap the teeth out of your mouth, dumbass annoying c**t.
Weird how those 20 "people" had the same typing style and responded the same way to getting called out.
Weird how you are more recognizable than the people you allegedly "know" through anonymous posting, stupid c**t.
How am I recognisable?
Youre a dumb, ugly c**t that has high incel energy.
I don't really care what a snoy thinks about me.
Good, keep on fighting the tendie fight, you stupid useless c**t. I hope you die alone.
I'm not a tendie, Eric.
And yet here you are c**t, here to defend Nintendo. Im sure you arent.
Tell you what, lets do a video call, lets resolve this right now.
I haven't defended Nintendo at all this thread.
don't forget the cabal schizo
Didnt see this guy, thsse dudes are fricking man babies, holy shit.
Lots of people say c**t, c**t. You are a c**t, thats a fact. If this were a real conversation, I would stompy our dumb c**t face into the dirt.
Stay in your containment thread.
yeah you don't browse these threads at all then. It's the guy that spams ">>g" and "reddit mods" and "eric" over and over again. He's been in every single Steam Deck thread since the thing has been announced, all hours of the day. It has been fascinating watching his mental health slowly unravelling through the course of it all.
Why is he a Nintendo fan, then? Why is he not just a run-of-the-mill lunatic? You've got this jackass >607997118 squealing about tendies.
Well I guess I just assume someone that makes it his life mission to defend Nintendo in Steam Deck threads is a Nintendo fan. Maybe I'm way off base and he's a Sega fanatic though?
How the hell is demanding somebody go to Ganker a Nintendo thing?
Shitposting tactic because they hated people discussing the deck, he also got banned lmao.
All of this reeks like the same Left 4 Dead jockeys trying to continue Sony v. Nintendo epic anal vore console wars except it's Steam v. Nintendo.
No one cares, except you moronic c**ts that keep tainting these threads with your insecure bullshit where you seek to correct ideas and police people who want ti replace their Switch. In short, frick off and take your Eric schizo with you.
You're an idiot if you want to replace a $300 Nintendo console with a $400 or higher PC. The "don't tread on me" angle for this is extremely funny.
Why is replacing something with higher value and overall lower cost bad? Again, you are attempting to police choice. Why?
Like are you a poorgay that an immediate $100 extra is a detriment but full priced games and paid online on the Nintendo side isnt? You are a dumbass fanboy c**t, stop speaking a out things you dont know shit about.
Calling you a homosexual for being bad with money and perceived value of electronics is not policing you
>poorgay
>immediate $100 extra
Are you replacing a Switch or are you buying a Steam Deck over a Switch?
>c**t
There's that word again, homie playin both sides rn
So you are trying to police me, being "bad with money" by buying an enjoying a better product that literally has much less expense over time? You are trying to give me financial advice to someone that makes 85k a year? Shut the frick up man.
I will replace my Switch again if I could just to spite you absolute morons
you've reached the buttmad point where you're bringing up your yearly salary, vacate the thread now before further Ls are taken
Ive reached the point where i state facts.
no you reached the point where you start whipping out IRL details to try and prove a point and ended up looking silly for it
stop handing yourself Ls
Why do you talk like you watch twitch morons? Shut the frick up Zoomer, enjoy your grocery store job until you are 30.
this was the shittiest deflect i've seen on Ganker in a few weeks, bravo
That extra $100 pays itself back 100x in what you save from not needing an online subscription + pirating + generally cheaper games
>$100 pays itself back 100x
>$20 for a year of online, $60 max for whatever game is interesting
ehhhhh it won't pay for itself for upwards of a year depending on how many games you buy and how many of them you buy used or secondhand
>ehhhhh it won't pay for itself for upwards of a year depending on how many games you buy
What part of a Steam account dont you get? Do you honestly think someone with a somewhat old steam deck account wouldnt have games on it?
You dont know shit a out value for money. You already excees the deck cost in less than 2 games in on the shitty Switch.
>What part of a Steam account dont you get?
you still pay for things on steam mon ami, i wouldn't count shit i buy on the deck or for the deck as being "deck games," i'd consider them PC games on my steam account
because it's a PC
i'm buying a PC
>You're an idiot if you want to replace a $300 Nintendo console with a $400 or higher PC.
literally how
now you're $700 in the hole since you've replaced a $300 console with a $400 one, but you get to gloat on Ganker about it
Who the frick thinks $700 is a lot? So it is a poorgay cope.
>Who the frick thinks $700 is a lot?
90% of the world that isn't America or Western Europe
Valve, too, considering they fought hard to get the Cleveland Steamer down to $400 base price
Good thing I have a job
i bought a switch for $300 and got enough enjoyment out of it to justify the price and i'll be getting a steam deck for $400 and i'll enjoy that as well. what's the problem?
there is no problem with this as long as you're not the kind of tool that bellows on Ganker about how nintendo is lItErAlLy InVaLiDaTeD like a sega fanboy on usenet in the 90s
nintendo is "invalidated" for me in the sense that i won't be buying a switch 2, directly because of the steam deck. but that's really because i already have a big steam library and a gaming pc to emulate any nintendo exclusives i might miss out on, and i'm guessing a lot of people here are in a similar situation.
people who enjoyed the switch and aren't already into PC gaming should probably go for a switch 2 instead. i don't know why this is so controversial on Ganker
Same, also the Switch 2 will likely be a lot worse considering the Switch "1" has been terrible for me, really poor quality games and almost nothing interesting.
I can't help but wonder what Switch 2 will be like. If it was the only handheld around it would be easier to generate hype with a weak upgrade but now that Deck has moved it so hard a meager upgrade will be much less impressive.
>Switch 2
>switch 2
Why do you guys keep saying this? It's not going to be called switch 2
>the swiitch
>Why do you guys keep saying this? It's not going to be called switch 2
it would be if they were smart but knowing nintendo it won't be
Cause who the frick knows what dumb Name Nintendo will actually choose
He wants Steam Deck threads to be banned and move to Ganker
They should move to /vg/ fricking vidya feet threads have more posters
The very same people that deny it exists are participating in this very thread man, take the veil from your eyes, the Nintendo Discord autism is insane.
Yep. We also have some weird OLED autism going on too, as if everyone bought the rip off "upgrade" and somehow colors can save how shit Switch games look lol. Its just to one up the deck, and its embarassing.
you talk like there is some kind of conspiracy when shitposting is literally all it is.
It's not simply shitposting when it's literally just one person samegayging every thread. That's called mental illness.
>not shitposting
>switch tendie schizos mad lmao *dabs*
I sure hope I didn't offend anyone by calling your "art" shitposting
I don't even know what you are talking about
He's flipping madly through his posting script for something new, let him be.
it's a fricking pain in the ass to pirate for, I get the games installed, but then fall at the last hurdle, like it won't boot with any version of proton or boots and moans about missing ini files
>baited a tendie schizo to bump the thread to 500 for free
noice doods heh 😛
gaming laptop
gaming laptop
so far I can only get pirated games to work after burning the .iso file using q4wine and powerISO and ONLY if I do it on the deck itself, not the SD card. I can't even move the game afterwards because then it stops working again.
>c**t c**t c**t
>wtf why do I keep getting recognised
deck threads have the best schizos
can we get a schizo tier ist
gaming laptop
How well does Sonic Unleashed run on RPCS3?
About as well as on PC, which is not great.
Not reasonably playable. People have tried.
is it working?
my deck status got moved up to Q3! so keen. I ordered it in early November.
not expecting it until late next month, but the wait is almost sort of over.
>deck popped
Should I do it?
Do ya want a portable PC that can run Elden Ring?
Kind of
Do ya want a portable emulator station since Steam Deck can comfortably handle all the way up to Switch and PS3?
Do ya have any need for things like video editing, music making, or (imagining this on a Steam Deck gives me conniptions) productivity tasks like spreadsheets and word processing, portable?
Do ya just like the look of it or want a good controller and screen assembly?
Do ya want to learn Linux?
Been playing with my new Deck for a few hours now. Shit is great, can't wait till I figure the ins and outs of this thing. Love that I can just leave my PC in the living room and go lay down in my bedroom to continue playing.
>trying multiple downloads, each of them has a different problem
>just download the rom for the switch and it works fine
this is a really weird system
Got around 3 hours of play on Dark Souls 1 with about 20% left on the battery. Not too bad, though I don't imagine seeing myself using it more than that when I'm out.
Adjust tdp.
Next step is community setting profiles imo, do you can click and download settings to max battery with no performance drop. For example, I halved TDP and GFX speed by a bit more than half on some PS2 games, hades, hollow knight, older 3d games, it basically adds an hour and a half.
>Adjust tdp.
Just got this thing earlier today. How and why should I do this? I'm assuming it's draw power? Longer battery life?
Open advanced setting with the ... button, use game specific profile, watch FPS and frametime while you do it. Its amazing .
Yes watch this video
basically trying to run games at lower graphical options will save battery life, trying to run games at max/ultra or as high as you can get will force the device's CPU/GPU to pull 20W+, limiting it to 9~11W will let the user to have hours of battery life
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
why did you run astral chain at .75x resolution
>these three images will be posted in every steam deck thread for the next year
schizos keep intensifying, gotta love it bros
They're trying so hard to get a crowbcat video made, it's adorable.
The Steam Deck is the one that looks better, btw.
the only thing bad about the deck in these pictures is the letterboxing
What am I looking at?
Seems fine in person, just use a linux shader and yoy xan match thay shit saturation that the Switch does.
now post the price of those chink devices and how they underperform in games compared to the deck
I posted this from my 1080p TN panel on my $2k PC btw.
You're looking at somebody making Jockey screeches while he runs through his anti-Steam Deck folder
lol bro, I don't even like nintendo. seething? nah it's not like that man. I just defend nintendo in every single steam deck thread for over a year and a half now just because.. because... i'm just an epic shitposter, ok???
Who are you talking to
Yep, thats the schizo for you.
What schizo?
I don't defend Nintendo though
>make criticism of steam deck
>that means you are defending nintendo
Epic bait
what's your criticism of the steam deck that isn't made in bad faith?
Lol so nothing. Steam Deck is just the perfect device I guess.
I'd spend $100 more dollars on one if it had an OLED screen. I'll wait until the Steam Deck Pro.
it has a shitty screen
gamut numbers aside the screen isn't actually bad in terms of subjective quality, it's really the large bezels that are shit
I haven't noticed any color accuracy problems and my main display is 99% sRGB, people put way too much stock in that metric.
OLED is better and now standard tech. Steam Deck is old hardware
we unfortunately haven't had a handheld with an actually good OLED screen yet
Meh mine work just fine. Never going back to non OLED
so this is the power of the steam deck............
Rent free
A screen doesnt make up the shit performance and shit features of the Switch dude, and most people dont even have a shit rip off OLED Switch.
I will never understand this obsession, its embarassing.
Steam deck looks better and has no burn in.
Which is which?
imagine being so poor you couldn't afford both, and are so upset about it you go on the internet to argue with strangers about it, that would be pretty fricking sad right?
I'm willing to bet most Steam Deck owners own both, anybody that value portable games has owned a Switch at this point.
>oh man im a dumbass tendie fanboy and I KNOW the Deck is better in every way what do I do????
>I know, I will obsess over the least important thing, the screen, to which the Switch JUST had an upgrade too and almost no one owns to "own the Deckies"
This is just sad.
Who is he talking to?
Anybody that will listen.
i don't know, who are you talking to?
Who are you talking to?
He's talking to Eric, the Reddit mod. The voices in my head told me.
who r u tlkn 2? x^D
why are nintendo fanboys the worst of all? It's like they lose fun when others have it
Nah, snoys are worse.
nobody gives a frick about sony
He never said anything about sony.
That's true, but what does that have to do with my post?
is snoy not some silly sony thing? I get sick of trying to keep up with your stupid fricking little phrases
newhomosexual get ye gone, you've had seven years to learn
Are sony fans the same thing as sony the corporation? Think real hard.
Not a tendie, sorry.
That post wasn't talking about sony or Playstation
there's a schizo in this thread who thinks nintendo is out to get him, just ignore it
We know his name, it's Eric
not that guy but he literally said snoy
Is this the safe space snoys hide out in so nobody makes fun of them KEK!
Games with forced 16:9 shouldn't be verified. Games with server checks shouldn't be verfied.
why the frick wouldn't you just get a laptop and plug in a controller?
your stupid question deserves a stupid answer: that's more expensive
That's it? That's literally the only benefit is that it's a budget laptop?
another stupid question deserves another stupid answer: no, it smashes any laptop you could find at $650 and below
Glad we agree
And why is this a bad thing
>I don't get the appeal of this $50 4k TV, I mean it's cheap but other than that what can it do??
>ummm that requires a lap to place it on
>also you'll need to pay an electricity bill and also buy a house to live in
>FIND ME A LAPTOP OF COMPARABLE SPECS FOR $400
>I'LL WAIT
or something like that
unironically yes find a laptop of comparable specs for $400
are you too chickenshit to do it or are you not gonna do it because you know you won't find anything that isn't a second-hand laptop going for WELL below MSRP
>too chickenshit to do it
Literally some moron tries to do it in every steam deck thread and they never can, are you new here? You think you are the first person to have this epic original opinion of yours?
Glad we agree.
Glad we agree.
bad bait have a you pooron
it's more that gaming on laptops is shit whereas gaming on handhelds isn't
>what do you mean you didn't read the 500 page console war child bullshit buzzwords? lolomg XDlel
its a shitty little 'gaming' tablet with a bad screen and gimmick touch controls
>Eric fricks off
>now the tendie is back to shit up the thread
What a coincidence haha
If you beg hard enough maybe he'll come back and poz you since you seem so thirsty for it.
Why would I want him to come back? Just making an observation.
Depending on your budget, it might be better to just get a gaming laptop. I got a decent one for around $700 that would make the deck shit itself in intimidation, but if you get one of the cheaper models then for the price and portability it's an ok package as long as you don't want to do anything in a desktop environment.
I don't have one btw. I just think the value is in its portability for the most part. If you end up getting addicted to the more graphically intensive games, you will want to be able to play those at high resolutions on a larger screen with better controls and better frame rates, and at that point you may realize you should have just bought a laptop in the first place. Gaming laptops are getting surprisingly affordable for their performance now (if you don't buy from a shit company like Alienware), so I would consider it.
>screen comparison tactic failed
>discord mods strat scrambling
>"alright trannies, new topic is now 'why not just get a laptop?'
>now sudden influx of laptop-posting
Am I close?
>Am I close?
Not even. And you never will be, Stephan.
Did you mispell "Eric" or is this another voice in your head?
Who's eric?
Better regroup, reddit discord mods. The narritive is collapsing.
It by no means performs as well as a fully kitted gaming pc but it is by far a better device overall, I have a gaming pc that beats the shit out of it in terms of performance but I've barely touched it since I got a steam deck, I can't play it outside or in bed or on the couch.
If I go on a trip, I can't take my PC with me, but I can take my steam deck, which is nice.
It's kind of like taking that sense of home and being able to play or do whatever you want with you wherever you want, which is kind of the ideal for handhelds I suppose.
I bought this Lenovo Legion y530-15ich from some trannies on fb marketplace for 100 bucks who were married to each other and kept saying about their "wife" and saying something about ukraine pride???? And when i got there i saw two trannies playing on their switches greasy in pajamas talking about how they got hacked by some kid and to replace the network card so i wouldnt get hacked or some shit anyways they smelt gross and were literally /misc/s definition of trannies, and by the book homosexuals, i mean shit i almost didnt buy the damn thing.
But it has a 1050ti and a I7 8750U with 16gb of ram i coudnt pass it up.
I had to bleach it.
The moral of my blog is that I dont know if ill buy a steamdeck now, it sucks because this was gonna be my leap into linux
What do bros
Wrong board
Read the post Black person
Just install Linux on your new commoe Lenovo? Lenovo's have good linux support I hear
Yeah but i want steamOS
What do you expect out of Steam OS? Because I guarentee when it eventually releases it's just going to be a more out-of-date Manjaro with less freedom
>arriving next week
>7 year experienced gnu/linux arch user
>know how to get loverlab mods to run on skyrim on linux
>now I can jerk off and play in the walmart bathroom on the go
based walmart employee, be sure to cum on the gerbers baby food to own the tendies itt
My pre-order was over a year ago and I just got the ability to order today. Canceled because I'm not going to be seen playing a Game Gear in public like a homosexual.
Vita or Bust.
Cool story bro
>Sent my Steam Deck out with Fedex 2 fricking weeks ago
>Valve still hasn't sent my replacement back
Too experimental, I'll wait for a second improved model with better specs while NPCs beta test the first one.
Can someone redpill me on why it would be useful to know someone's mac address but not who they are, where they are, or what network they are on?
It's completely useless, mac addresses are only used for LAN purposes. You can use it to fingerprint but they are easily spoofed.
That's exactly what I thought. No idea what that dude was on about.
how do i become a steam deck schizo bros
do i just have to post the same thing in every thread?
That's a good start but you also need to be obsessed with Nintendo (for or against, doesn't matter, playing both sides is also acceptable) and bounce between the Steam Deck being a shit option that no true gamer would ever take, and being inhumanly enthusiastic about the Steam Deck and calling anybody that thinks you're weird a shill.
Curious how the people that take issue in these threads also take issue in people criticizing the only othet portable worth mentioning. Tendies truly want a policed site and they do it for free.
Every slack-jawed shitposter trying to make it big in screencaps posted to Twitter is "criticizing," lately. It's just "disingenuous" all over again, a word some tard throws out to sound smart and legit.

Anyone get Soul Calibur 6 to work? It just crashes when I try to run it.
I bought my Deck because the Switch has no games, so its been a blessing. Been playing Xcom Chimera Squad and its been so amazing bros, the Deck is the future for portables we deserve.
why the frick are the controls broken in dolphin? it was working last night and now today they work for wii but not gamecube. I haven't changed anything wtf.
It's all just GabeN's masterplan to save PC Gaming by making Linux mainstream....And it damn works.
gonna mod peter back so he's not ugly and swang webs ONNNN THEEEE GOOOOOOO
I played TF2 on the deck for hours today and holy christ going back to a switch pro controller it feels like my hands are gaped and can't grip it properly because it's so small
DECKED
>TF2
>switch pro controller
same thing happened to me but with a DS4
Just got mine in the mail deckbros. What should I play 1st?
Too big and awkward.
Noisy fans in higher end games.
Early access handheld.
post proof of purchase
seriously why can't I get team fortress to run at 60 fps on the deck without looking like shit
isn't it like a 15 year old game
You are doing something wrong. I got L4D2 running at 60 OOTB while taking frick all for power. You shouldn't have to lower the resolution.
please try playing TF2 and tell me exactly what settings you have for it
waiting for the inevitable steamdeck2 instead
Will you wait for the steam deck 3 after that comes out?
Why not wait for the steam deck 4 instead, it'll just be a few years after that.
The steam deck 5 will be coming out any day now, that's the one to get for sure.
moron moment
I really like the deck so far, but fricking hell there is scuff going on with this thing.
techlet moment
Not really. The controls randomly frick up in desktop mode. Some buttons randomly don't work and will fix if I reset the deck. hopefully it gets better over time.
Get in line with the index 2.
Anyone know if the 64gb flash version has the NVMe port on it still?
I figure at a point there's going to be a market for replacement drives for it, and it'll be cheaper in my country to just buy the base model + a 3rd-party drive, vs. the official 512gb.
>Anyone know if the 64gb flash version has the NVMe port on it still?
Yes, theres only one board, they're all the same. The eMMC version has a little module of shit storage in the slot.
Alright, good. I figure that drive alone is the main thing hurting Valve's wallet since they couldn't engineer it to handle your typical length NVMe.
Screen was the same, just one has glass vs plastic or some shit no? I can replace that myself unless it's glued to the screen pretty well (since capacitor sensor and what not).
All three have a glass screen but the 512GB model has some fancy anti-glare glass. A lot of people apparently prefer the normal glass, and you can get an anti-glare or matte screen protector if you want all the benefits.
They're all glass panels, the 512GB version just has an anti glare treatment on it
Yes the eMMC isn't soldered on, it's a stick of memory that you can replace. The only things separating a $400 Steam Deck from a $649 Steam Deck are the screen and an SSD.
It's seriously dogshit and I have to force myself to use mine.
They all have the same NVMe port, the eMMC is on a card that fits into it. You can throw pretty much any 30mm drive in it, it's cheaper to do that in any country, though valve says there could be heating/interference issues with the wifi.
I have one. It's nice. I can play pretty much any nintendo game through emulation, which is surprising and nice. And of course the steam library. People praise the gyro aiming but personally i like the trackpad better.
Biggest flop since the wii u and no one cares about it outside of reddit.
Is that why it’s back ordered to the point that half the thread doesn’t have one despite wanting it?
They're only producing about 35000 decks though.
after the production increase they’re on track for a million units by the end of the year
Rumor has it that Half Life 3 releases when the last person gets their Deck
Anyone in q3 get an order confirmation yet? I think I pre-ordered mine in November last year and still haven't got the order confirmation
lots of people have. use the getmydeck website. it's pretty accurate.
It's telling me 110 days 🙁
I was hoping someone with a similar preorder date would have gotten one by now
>423 posts

ah yes, the daily schizo deck thread
friendly reminder valve can literally not achieve this
anonymous: always right
I really want to play that game.
it flopped
I'd get one for the sole purpose of emulating Saturn games if Saturn emulators weren't still such fricking dogshit.
Its a decent gaming PC for its price and a good LAN device. If you have a gaming PC I don't think its worth it outside of LAN as its not that portable for something like a vacation.
>Saturn
Saturn emulation is more intensive than it should be due to how long it took for it to get well mapped, but it should emulate just fine. Gen 5 overall is pretty spot on today with a modest gaming machine. And Gen 6 as well, exception being Xbox.
saturn runs just fine
only issue i've run into was with grandia and i switched cores and it's all good
Ahhh how did you manage to get cemu to read the wii u games!!!!!!
wat
I couldn't figure out how to get the games to work.
kept seeing a bunch of bullshit about using usbhelper but I couldn't get it to run on the deck.
Only WiiU game I've got on my deck so far is MH3U but it copied across from my PC just fine. If you're stuggling to set up WiiUSBHelper on deck it might be a good idea to just do it on PC instead and copy the files across.
https://gbatemp.net/threads/the-different-wiiu-games-formats-and-how-to-convert-them.449212/
depends on what kind of dump you had
i personally had to use this tool for the ones i had
Ah that's unfortunate. I'm guessing I need a windows machine to do all that and then transfer the file over? I was hoping I could get it working with just the deck.
My real problem with the panel of the Steam deck isn't the color accuracy, it's the lack of any compensation for display persistence like modern IPS monitors where they invert voltages in patterns to prevent it
Protip: never display 1hz flashes on the steam deck, leave the screen on the same image for more than an hour or play something like GBA F-zero unless you want display persistence for five whole minutes
Just get a PC.
do you use the trackpad or the stick for shooters?
I'm used to gyro aim but I don't know how to incorporate it on this thing properly
I only have gyro engage if my thumb is on the right trackpad. Right joystick I leave as just a regular joystick.
I don't use the right analog for anything, it's objectively inferior to the trackpad in every single scenario and game
It's better for twin stick shooters. Like, playing gungeon or isaac with a trackpad? Frick no.
I'll be waiting for Steam Deck 2.0 to come out
First one looks good, the next model should be even better.
Thanks for beta testing, NERDS!
>ip count didn't go up

>waiting on nintendo to port windwaker to switch so I can play it in a portable form factor
>They never do despite having the perfect opportunity to do so
>get a deck
>emulate windwaker on the deck
>runs perfectly, upscaled gc version so it has the proper aesthetics intact. Likely looks better than any port they would make based on the wiiu port. Completely eliminated need for a port. Where I would have once given them money, I no longer would
Their loss lmao
>handheld designed to play console games at console settings
>gaming PC
just got mine. for pirated games you just attach it as a non steam game, run the exe, and profit?
omg no wei
yes
Is there a way to use function keys without connecting a keyboard?
Map the left touchpad to a radial menu.
>valve will never sell anything to my country (georgia), even the games sold here aren't in my countries currency but euros or rub (pre war at least).
>only way to get a deck is if someone can reserve one for me in eu or us (and i dont know where to find someone I can trust like that)
>once they send it here, also have to pay 18% VAT

You should make friends with a Bulgarian or Greek so you can use them for stuff like this. Bonus, you get a friend.
Yea... I did see one for see here locally on our cragislist alt, but they wanted 1500 usd for it (and it was the 256gb model).
>OLED IS THE FUTU-
Today for sure -- today I'm finally going to get a pirated game to do the following on my Steam Deck
>Work
>Open
>Open from the non-desktop mode
Just buy the game (if it has a native Linux version; otherwise who cares lol).
I finally got pirated Factorio working after fiddling with it for two days
Congratulations
>Is it good as a first time gaming PC?
>first time
You're asking if someone without any PC gaming experience, let alone Linux gaming experience or a Steam library, should go directly from consoles to a Linux-based Steam handheld that runs over 85% of games through an experimental compatibility layer that doesn't always work? Probably not.
I bought one though and I like it.
Too expensive for a device that can't play Fortnite. Even Switch has it kek
It could play Fortnite if Epic Games allowed it.
EAC even got Proton support, but Epic wants their own games to run on everything except Linux, because they associate Linux with Valve now. In other words it's not so much a compatibility issue as a "Tim is butthurt" issue.
How hard is it to boot to windows to play it?
I don't know but it seems pointless to me. I didn't buy a Steam Deck just to play a game I could already have played on my phone. If you don't like any of the games that are playable on SteamOS, then simply not buying a Steam Deck is probably the right choice. But I know people who like to tinker will set up a dual boot on it anyway, just because they can.
Why does everyone attack the battery when my switch barely lasts an hour
>why do fanboys desperately lash out at everything about a device that mogs theirs?
>screen is delaminating
I don't want to RMA it
Why did you do it.
It's an incredibly specialized and hard to come by device for a "first time gaming PC" so I'd say no.
MILES better than the Switch.
>deck got up to 85°C while downloading something
is that normal?
