>Nintendo Switch 2 with Steam built-in
Would never happen, can't have the filthy plebs get cheap games or even emulators and bypass the Bing Bing Wahoo tax
It's not a meme dummy, it's the best and most accurate image for a display. Life has an expiration date, it's too short to be playing with washed out colors on an LCD or LED.
>its a display with an expiration date
By that time deck 2 will drop <3
Heads up to anyone trying to get the LE, I think they're dripping out more stock as the day goes on.
Just managed to snag one a few minutes ago even though they were out of stock when I tried at release.
Can confirmed. I kept trying after the first out of stock notification and eventually got one.
>why?
Because it's so much better. I'd rather buy a new OLED every few years than ever go back to LCD. For anecdotal reference I have been using my OLED TV as a primary desktop monitor for about 6 years now, and I have only a very faint burned-in bar at the top that is usually only visible against orange/yellow colors. So keeping in mind that that's not exactly recommended use, that I've been using it for hours pretty much daily, that it's one of the earlier models (I think LG's second generation 4K OLEDs) and that it's still perfectly usable, I've gotten more than my money's worth over these years.
I found the equivalent info screen but it doesn't show hours, guess they must have thought better of it. Maybe it ruined the resale value (not that I see why they'd care.)
The OLED burn-in is such a goddamn meme nowadays, I've had my OLED TV for a few years now and it looks just the same. It's not like LCDs are impervious to planned obsolescence either, an equivalent LCD TV would probably break down for some other reason in about the same time span anyway
I've used an OLED TV as a monitor and it's still just fine.
The added bonus is that 4k blu-rays look badass. Watched the Twin Peaks pilot in 4k yesterday and it was crisp as a clear spring morning.
A marked improvement over other displays.
>release tons of info for new deck >reception ranges from negative to indifferent >gut production amount >but back and prearrange purchases to claim it immediately sold out and create a false scarcity >*WE ARE CURRENTLY HERE* >hope that artificial scarcity creates a wave of FOMO and boosts actual sales on the next cycle
it's all so tiresome
Okay but why would I want to play then on a handheld? Like my computer is right there. And there are better/cheaper ways to stream them to another room in the house
And can it even handle 90fps on a newer game?
>why would you want to play gamepad PC games on your couch or recliner?
I dunno, just curious on the need to consooooom
It's called expendable income, at a certain point buying a $600 gadget once per year doesn't matter any more. You should know by now most hobbies are more expensive than gaming. Most people easily spend $3000+ a year on any given hobby.
I sometimes want to play games on the bed/couch, I personally don't use it all that much in my main home but I always take it with me to the beach. It's really nice not having to carry a cumbersome laptop that needs peripherials and just playing it in the balcony. Also always bring it on long train/car travels, or whenever I go on vacation for a week with friends.
for finishing your backlog: all those shitty $5 usd games that everybody get in Xmas and nobody install in his PCs. With Deck you have a excuse for play that games
There was a message I got that said something like "shipping times have increased due to higher volume of units" Makes me wonder if they said fuck it and doubled the number of available units or something. Gratz though
Lucky cunt, not for sale in my country. I hope the 'ick on 'eck poster gets one although maybe it's not for sale in his country seeing as he still has his skin.
Why do decksisters always bring up the switch? I see people talk about PC and not consoles constantly, I see people talk about PS5 and not Xbox all the time, I see people talk about Nintendo and never other consoles or PC regularly. I have never seen even a single steamdeck thread that doesn't resolve around the switch.
>I see people talk about Nintendo and never other consoles or PC regularly
Bait needs to be somewhat believable. And deck threads bring up the switch because tendies fucking invade them constantly.
Why do disingenuous retards act like this dosen't happen all around? You're all brand whores, as if you wouldn't try to get one up on eachother for the most minor of changes.
That anon didn't even mention the Switch but it's easy to compare Switch/Deck because they are both handhelds. No point in comparing it to a non handheld console as that's a closed system.
>got the 512GB OLED model >tfw regret started to sink in
I have a beefy PC and a big ass TV. I also never play outside my house. Do I keep the order? Is the Deck really worth it? I like handhelds, but it's been years since I last played with one.
i feel a lot like you, but at the same time i dont know what the fuck else i should spend my money on
now that im a working adult with a stable salary i have never had less things i want to buy
Same tbh. I keep saving up money and it keeps piling up but I don't really have anything much I want to buy, well aside from a house but that shit's so expensive these days that I doubt I'll ever be able to afford one.
i feel a lot like you, but at the same time i dont know what the fuck else i should spend my money on

Fly to japan and go to soapland. More fun than any video game these days tbh.
Well, you can stream your games from your high end pc to your oled deck while you are outside or in the toilet or bed room. 1080p at 90fps - Ultra settings. Very convenient!
its an awesome piece of tech, but as someone that hates handheld gaming... it wont change your opinion on handhelds
it will also make you realize that the mouse is literally the greatest input device ever created and theres just no going back to worse
>decided to use my credit card instead of paypal credit for the 3% cashback >end up using it directly instead of through paypal, so only get 2%
Feels bad
Get a discover secured card. I was a NEET for 10 years until about 6 months ago and now I have 2 credit cards + paypal credit. Just make sure to pay everything off before the due date.
There's nothing overwhelming. You just use it like a debit card. Pay it off every week so you don't accrue interest.
You still accrue rewards points, so its literally free money. Just get whatever fee-less card you can.
I don't really have a problem with James. At least he sounds like hes a white guy and that gives me hope for Ganker. Don't let the seething browncels get you down bro.

The software is worth it over any other handheld. It's constantly updated. Check out performance from last November to now just from software updates and patches.
It's dockable as a PC to play with a controller and hooked up to a TV/monitor
It plays almost every older system in addition to most steam games with customizable TDP and other settings based on how you want to play.

It was out of stock a few minutes ago and now back in stock. Its like shrodinger's webpage were it could be either or when I check on it. It could be the website fucking around, valve pulling stock from other regions/future builds, poorfags realizing they don't really have dosh for it, and/or scalpers unable to decide whether they want to scalp or not. Its Incredibly schizophrenic.
I think they are adding batches over intervals of time so that more people actually have a chance at getting one instead of just dumping them all at once and everything getting sold out immediately
the steam app was so fucked up I couldn't buy it on my phone so while I was racing home, I literally had to talk my mom through the steps of unlocking my laptop and buying it, thank god for her cause she got one
>yes mom, with a hard r >now open firefox mom >no mom Google is evil, just press the round orange button in the taskbar, it's the only one >okay now- yeah that's- no mom I'm not ga- I'M NOT GAY MOM IT'S CALLED A FUTANARI >look mom I'll explain to you later just ignore it and open a new ta- yes mom I know you want grandkids now open a new tab and write steam in the search bar >now click on the picture that says steam deck, okay now scroll down and press buy on the- >it's not a nint- yes mom I already have a "nintendo" but this is different please just click buy >okay now my credit card is in a sock that's- yes, "that" sock mom, yes I know it's gross but it's an emergency mom >okay that's it thank you mom love you
(you) here, firstly fuck you secondly that was pretty funny, surprisingly accurate too, she had to close brave and it took so long to get her to find the steam icon
They're probably trickling out restocks.
It's fluctuated a few times between oos and in stock.
I think Valve is doing what they can to fuck over scalpers, god bless them.
That's why I'm not buying one until it goes down in price and there are no OLED issues. If then even, I have always had a Playstation, Nintendo, and PC. If Nintendo does do a legit next gen handheld, I'll want a Steam deck even less. I don't travel so the only thing I'd use it for is sitting on my couch or the rare time I go out. I'd rather put that money into a gaming PC. It's the thing I need most now. Mine is old. I just play PS5 and some Switch. A little mobile if I'm out doing something. I am enjoying Warcraft Rampage. I have a guild called FourChan pol. There are a few spots left if you want to join. It's geared towards people from /misc/, Ganker, and /x/. I just made the name to gather attention. I haven't advertised it at all until this post.
Responses itt are some of the most cucked shit I have ever seen on Ganker. Ranging from wanting to paying 300+ every 2 years as some sort of gaming tax through to gaming is an inexpensive hobby so they want to justify spending 600 in some mental gymnastics triathlon.
Some of you need to fucking leave the hobby and kys. Seriously no one likes you and your mom's fucking money isn't welcome.
I agree, people that do that are retarded really, sure even if they have the money to spend , honestly I still think they are retarded and its a waste of money, its the same with people who buy every new iPhone that comes out, the phone has minor differences compared to the last one, and yet the price is ridiculously high, those people are so cringe. They just want the latest thing to show off to people who dont really care anyway
The problem I have with this behavior is that it always ruins everything. We literally can't have nice things because these fucking morons with literally buy a subscription to technology and then complain about how everything sucks and they own nothing.
>if you think any $600 peripheral is a waste of money then you'd never buy any which means the ecosystem collapses
We literally wouldn't have nice things if poorfags like you never bought anything because it's "mindlessly consuming" so you play games on your 8 year old PC.

There are no sales data. Even if it existed right this second, only valve has it and it's unlikely to be correlated to previous steam deck owners. Literally impossible to prove but that absence of proof doesn't rule out the possibility of previous steam deck owners buying new decks.

How the fuck is this anything like buying into a subscription. It's a full fledged pc. Buying into any console is far more cucked and "you will own nothing" than the deck.
Got the 512 GB model, doesn't seem like a good deal for the 1 TB plus I never had storage problems with my old Deck because you really don't play modern AAA on it.
>Got the LE Model >going to swap the SSD with my old 2TB ssd, and put the OLED's 1TB SSD into my LCDeck. >give the old deck to my little sister for her birthday and christmas
I don't expect her to give me anything in return, also only paid about 380 bucks on it because I got it during the summer sale.
Going to set up Switch emulation and roms for her. taiko no tatsujin is her favorite game so im loading up yuzu with all the DLC songs and stuff for her.

It's not a fucking "Present" if they owe you something in return, it's just a forced loan under a different name and more insidious circumstance.

SCALPING FUCKS CAN DIE IN A FIRE! They're all fucking up on Ebay.
I've been trying to order the LE since 1:00 EST and its crashing on the payment method screen. "error initializing or updating your transaction". Fuck this garbage, Valve did marginally better than the original but this is in no way acceptable
Is the dock (not deck) even worth it if I already have a beefy PC? Also, how are the haptics compared to the Steam controller. Even just touching the pad on my controller makes an annoying static-y noise.
I’m a console game and never owned a PC because I don’t have the money or no space to put it. I’ve always wanted something like this for PC gaming got the one terabyte version after 30 minutes can’t get the limited edition because from England
There are no rumours, why would you think the software is different? If you can move installed games on as cards between current decks then it'll work on the OLED
seriously, how is Nintendo going to respond to UMPCs? If the switch 2 is just a spec bump they are now in exactly the position they have been avoiding for 20 years and this time its 10x worse because its against the PC that updates every year and is more pro consumer on every level.
the gamecube, wiiu and to a lesser extent the 3ds make that hard to believe. Their best selling systems from recent memory all had a unique selling point. When they do exactly what the competitor does everyone just buys the competitor with a better library.
The wii u and 3ds had "unique selling points" too it's just that all of nintendo's gimmicks are total fucking garbage, the only reason Nintendo moves consoles is because of their games. Seriously every single gimmick they have introduced from the gamecube onwards has been garbage that should've been sold separately as an accessory for one or two games, if at all.
The 3ds had a pretty decent selling point but only after the revision, ultimately it sold pretty well, 80-90 million units. I would argue it suffered initially due to a lack of meaningful distinction from the DS though didn't flop entirely because the 3d was eventually pretty cool. The WiiU had a retarded gimmick nobody wanted and is how I expect all their systems to perform in the absence of a desirable, distinguishing trait.
people who play Nintendo shit dont care about graphics, selling them the equivalent of a new GPU upgrade will never be appealing.
The 3DS and Wii U didn't sell as well as because their libraries were worse, it's that simple. The gimmicks made zero difference, the DS sold well and its gimmick was one of the worst - a shitty easily scratched second screen that games basically used for menus or one off dogshit events - and it sold super well.
Anonymous
I disagree, a huge part of why the DS blew up was the touch screen. my fucking grand parents wanted a DS because of brain training, they would never have even considered it if it wasn't used by holding it like a book and writing with the other hand, they would have looked at the joystick and assumed it was another Nintendo child's toy.
3ds had a bad gimmick at first and it suffered, they eventually fixed it and their handhelds always had the USP of being the only meaningful handheld on the market. Game libraries are like a chicken and egg scenario, you can only get an install base through libraries but the library only arrives when there's an install base.
and? This is a meaningless statement that applies to every single person who has ever released a game. The statement you are making implies their monopoly is meaningful and guarantees success no matter the competition. Historically this has not been the case so I'm wondering why you're so confident in it.
Switch 2 if it's just a spec bump of the Switch 1 will sell just as well as the Switch. Nintendo hit the magic formula game system. It's a portable system, it's a party game system, it's a Nintendo system. So Switch 2 coming out with zero iterations on the device itself will still sell just fine.
no it wont, Everyone owns a switch and a ps5 or PC because its the default handheld. People have always bought a GBA or DS or 3ds alongside their console or PC. The problem now is their main gaming systems, the consoles and PCs are becoming handhelds. I wouldn't actually be surprised if we got a PS5 portable in 3 or 4 years. Their status as the supplemental handheld is at risk.
Switch is surprisingly thin on "gimmicks" and/or tech has matured to the point they dont' feel like that. >Display multitouch tablet is not particularly new, but is quality. >There is a Dock which again isn't new, but allows for play both on 3rd party displays and on-device one. It is rather a pity that Nintendo didn't take advantage of this for other things, like bundling in a Nintendo skinned Kodi >JoyCons are the most "gimmick-y" but they are solid controllers that usefully can disconnect from the Switch and have latest gen movement detection compared to Wii/WiiU waggle.
Nintendo figured out that selling peripherals , especially when they work with the detachable JoyCons, notably the RingCon+LegStrap for Ring Fit Adventure , works really well for both traditional games and allows for more inventive ones A Switch 2 would need only iterate on this since it got to the point that the functions are decent and less "gimmicky" but actually usable. If only they'd support more common PC/mobile operating systems on their hardware and ideally on others as well.
>30 million
It's closer to 13. What tendies really really do not want to accept is how vital portability is to nintendo. It's not the games, it's the handheld factor.
Nintendo relies on the braindead masses. The deck isn't stupid enough for them to use yet and may never be thanks to things like protonge which even just getting that is too far beyond what a consolepleb can do. The desktop mode would be terrifying to them. It's likely why valve hasn't even tried to market the thing, let alone put it in retailers, because any average idiot who gets one is going to cry the moment anything gets a little more involved than "click giant icon to play game".
I'm convinced valve is still figuring out how to make the deck as seamless as a console and is intentionally holding off making it mainstream while they beta test the OS. It is why the sales regions are still restricted to key markets. I expect them to make a huge push for the mainstream with the deck 2.0.
I was on the fence because I don't really need it. But on checkout it said that I couldn't use my saved paypal and I couldn't be fucked to rummage through my wallet in my coat pocket downstairs so I took it as a sign that I shouldn't get it.
>only get the 1TB if you can get the limited edition >you can upgrade ur storage easily on the 512

Can you replace the onboard SSD with your own? Or does it have to be Valve because the OS is loaded onto it? Sorry if the question is dumb, it's my first one.
You can put most m.2 2230 form factor SSD's into the deck. You just need to put the foil shield from the old one on the new SSD. Then, you just use Rufus to put the SteamOS installation image on, and then boot from it to install on ur new drive
You can switch the SSD. They made the OLED model easier to open and modify too.
Fuck yeah, thanks anons. Gonna buy a good m.2 with Black Friday sales next week.

Is that the guy who showed the deck with studio lights directly on the screen? It looks fine in every other review I've seen, even when compared to the Switch OLED.
I mean, I'm sure there's some quality loss, but it doesn't seem like you'll notice it in normal lighting conditions, and when you do it's just the etched glass doing its job.
cheap portable usb-c dock is the only accessory i had any use for. Docking is too fiddly and the deck is too weak to want to do it constantly so the valve dock is overpriced but for the few times you need it a cheap dock is very useful.
some 20-30 buck ugreen adaptor that handles 4k and 60fps. has a ethernet port and power pass through + 2 usb ports which is all you'll ever need from a dock, small size is also preferable to an actual dock.
Default case is great and I don't need a screen protector. It's not a phone that I handle daily dozens of times in and out of my pocket. Deck is huge enough you will handle it very deliberately while gaming.
>case
This unbranded one with a kickstand (just search Steam Deck TPU case on Amazon). It'll no longer fit the OEM case but any Switch+Hori Split Pad should fit it. >screen protector
amFilm tempered glass
For an OLED? Note that you need to be sure your accessories are OLED compatible when it matters for things like screen protectors - a lot of other stuff however is universal. >Case
It should come with its own case depending on the version you got, but the one that came with the original Deck 512GB was pretty solid. The only one I saw that is really worth it for the protection and other functions is the DBrand Killswitch. Alternately its not a case exactly but Deckmate may be useful in its own way too. There are a lot of cheaper knockoff cases out there but they tend to have issues, add needless bulk, not protect, or are flimsy/made of cancer causing dickshrinking plastic crap etc. >Screen Protector
Important, even if you get the glass display. Dbrand has a good one here too, but much like the Switch you can find many cheaper "tempered glass" protectors that do a good job. Keep AWAY from film based protectors or those that have any sort of dimming feature. >Dock
There are a number of unofficial docks and they can work just fine depending on the features you want and their capabilities, but the official Steam Deck Dock is pretty solid I've found and hell its on sale now and even a better deal.
Other recommendation would be to get a battery bank like pic related even though it's overkill for the wattage that the Deck needs. The form factor is nice, with some guy who made a mount for the back of the Deck.
Not sure how much of this is still relevant for the oled version https://rentry.org/deckbeard. The chassis between the lcd is largely the same.
Not a bad idea if you don't mind the extra bulk. Yeah you can attach it - both Killswitch and Deckmate also have abilities to mount a batter pack on the back of them
An hour ago I thought the Limited Editions were sold out.
But then they're back again but with just added wait time.
Did Valve just bamboozle the scalpers?
Scam the scammers?
baiting the scalpers to the limited edition frees up the nornal decks as well
if this was genuinely olanned by valve then based
but if not then they did nothing and still won
Are the dbrand. or satisfye shells worth getting. I like having a protective shell for the 'eck for some reason compared to my switch. I do have a shell on my old lcd 256 deck but I dont know if it will fit the oled
If it was only a month ago just ask for a return, they're very lenient if you can get a hold of an employee. Just say you want to put the money towards the new deck.
Switch is actually useful as a handheld since you can easily play multiplayer with joycons. If you want to bring your games with you just leave your PC on and stream them to a laptop it's what I do. You have to get lucky with power outages but that's it
>just leave your PC on and stream them to a laptop it's what I do. You have to get lucky with power outages but that's it
That's literally what I do with my deck and it's way more comfy than my laptop
The problem for me with that is that a handheld limits your controls for PC games, so I prefer laptops
>stream to laptop
i remember last time i tried this like 3 years ago it was crap.
How do you do it?
There are different programs you can use. First off you obviously need good internet on both ends. On my desktop I have 15 megs of upload which is pretty good, when I travel I usually have above 10 of download which is enough. You leave your main PC turned on, disable all suspension settings obviously, then you can set up on the other PC using for example Google Remote Desktop, or Steam Play.
When I still had classes during the pandemic I even managed to record some online classes running on my PC from my phone while I worked in a lab via remote control, works good these days in my opinon
>they never ordered something from Alibaba or whatever and had to wait several weeks for the container to arrive via ship
Patience is a virtue, my ADHD-riddled zoomer friends
>3 hours later and the LE is still in stock
Wow, I'm actually impressed Valve managed to build up enough stock to manage that. But I guess they can build up and sit on stock instead of having to worry about the books looking bad with unsold inventory.
It looks like they were way better prepared for demand this time around, even if their website wasn't. Makes sense given they'd have a much better idea of it than when they first launched the deck.
They likely loaded up as much as possible so they could get these out for christmas. Would've sucked so bad if it was like the first time around and you had to wait for over a year again. No excuse for that when they have a far better understanding of demand and can prepare.
>went out of stock in the first 10 minutes >came back in stock 5 minutes later >out of stock and in stock intermittently for a while >now just in stock
Scalpers in shambles.
I cancelled my Deck LE order. I already have a deck, and only ordered the new one because I thought the LE was actually going to be limited, and not "limited to however many we can sell," therefore limiting the second hand market value should I decide to not keep it.
There is literally nothing wrong with scalpers, you retarded children. If you reallly want something, you wait for it early and buy it in the first minutes. If you can't even be bothered to do that, scalpers will literally guarantee you can still get what you want as long as you pay a convenience fee. Scalpers are a net positive.
I have nothing wrong with people scalping luxuries, and yes, children will get mad over it.
People WILL scalp and price fix necessities, and that's a problem.
Scalpers use bots and arrays of bot accounts to buy up as many of whatever they're scalping as fast as possible while the infrastructure crumbles from the floods of traffic as real people try and fail to buy it. People were there at 10 am. LE still sold out in 10 minutes while no one could get their order to actually process. Then 10 minutes later they restocked. All valve did was say "we know this is going to happen so how about we just restock in small batches over time so more people actually have a chance?"
There is no reason to be upset over this unless you're an asshurt scalper upset that people are actually able to buy the deck.
There were very few if any sales before 15 minutes past the hour. It was apparently whatever address checking service they use getting overloaded when checking shipping info.
Scalpers are good when you're getting people to drive through hurricane conditions to deliver water and medicine for people who otherwise wouldn't have those things.
Scalpers aren't good when they buy up limited inventory to create artificial scarcity.
For once its wild to me that Valve actually timed this launch so well
They bodied the Lenovo Legion's release
They leapfrogged the Playstation Portal mixed reception
They sneaked in early enough before the Switch 2's announcement next year
And they did all that right before Black Friday and Christmas rolled in
If they even expanded the distribution areas it would have been near perfect
I'm not really sure in what universe a consumer would be upset with a product not instantly selling out (by doing small restocks over time to give as many people as possible the chance to buy something) unless they are scalping themselves.
>upset
You were reading the replies, right? Clearly, you guys were the upset ones.
Also, nice strawman. Where'd you get it?

>You were reading the replies, right?
I read the original post and all I saw is "waaaah why can't I scalp my deck LE for $1500 if I don't like it" kys lmao

>nooo you can't sell something for the price you bought it for you haaaaave to be a scalper
Based EU giving us a 2-year warranty instead of the 1 year fats get stuck with >IF YOU ARE A CONSUMER WHO LIVES IN A EUROPEAN UNION MEMBER COUNTRY, THE UNITED KINGDOM, THE PROVINCE OF QUEBEC (CANADA), AUSTRALIA, OR NEW ZEALAND, THIS LIMITED WARRANTY & AGREEMENT DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU. INSTEAD, YOU ARE ENTITLED TO THE STATUTORY WARRANTIES OR GUARANTEES PROVIDED BY YOUR HOME JURISDICTION.
No physical keyboard for once. Or it has to be carried in protective case and takes so much space in a backpack. > 380 nits IPS and 54% SRGB
I actually expected some shitty TN in it.
>shit mobile GPU >overheats >shitty screen >40 minutes battery life >dies right after warranty (planned 2 years life)
As a rule gaming laptops less than $1500 are a waste of money.
>thought I bought the limited edition >turns out I just grabbed the normal 1tb one >$30 more orange, a transparent shell that makes it look like a gimped nintendo product and, at this point, a month extra delay
Oh well. Functionally no difference. The 3rd party shells look better anyway. Still get that liner too.
Gabe will take your money, you just have to be patient by being impatient and trying about 69 times. It was like this with a half dozen variations and stock messages for the first 25min of the launch.
>release console you know is going to be scalped >only offer part of the full inventory in the first hour >after some time of pretending it's out of stock, and the scalpers already listing their overpriced stuff >dump it like the bogdanoffs >scalpers start a race to the bottom while people just buy on steam directly >by the time inventory truly runs out, scalpers will have bidden themselves down to retail price
Someone who understands market psychology did this.
I might pick one up from the scalpers if any of them are retarded enough to hold onto them to the point where they can't get rid of them just like with gpu's a while back.
nintendo bought them esmeralda their going ty slap a switch 2 on them and resell them
>Nintendo Switch 2 with Steam built-in
Would never happen, can't have the filthy plebs get cheap games or even emulators and bypass the Bing Bing Wahoo tax
people keep falling for oled meme so much, why?
its a display with an expiration date
UHM WHAT DA H*CK? TENDIEXISTERS TOLD ME STEAM DECK IS A FLOP???
>valve charges $400 in 2 years for a screen replacement
>a display with an expiration date
But enough about CRTs.
It's not a meme dummy, it's the best and most accurate image for a display. Life has an expiration date, it's too short to be playing with washed out colors on an LCD or LED.
>its a display with an expiration date
By that time deck 2 will drop <3
Anon modern OLED displays burn out after like a decade of at most average use.
The anti OLED shills always push this shit.
>buy OLED for "superior colors"
>oh it's just a little burned-in there, nothing serious who cares
I have been using my ps vita for almost a decade, and its oled screen is still working perfectly. No spots on the black colors either
Yeah but the deck can actually be repaired
all displays have an expiration date genius. try making a more concrete argument for why they are a "meme"
my LCD display is from 2000s. my CRT is from the 90s.
You think you're gonna live forever?
unless you have terminal cancer, you're going to outlive your oeld.
It'll be a sad day when it shits out on me, but the hype of playing on something with 11/10 display is worth it.
I've been using my OLED Vita for years and it still looks fine, so idk what the fuss is about.
Every piece of digital technology has an expiration date retard
cope. I still use my decade old smartphone and my mp3 player from 20 years ago.
Poorfag cope. You can "use" a 20 year old oled too. The same problem occurs in all 3 instances, it's a shitty experience
except all my old tech works perfectly fine, come back to me with a 10yo oled screen.
What's the expiration date? My 2016 LG OLED has over 10k hours
Do you have to enable some service mode to show this? I'm curious what my 2017 LG is at, but it doesn't show hours on that info screen for me.
No, it's there by default on mine. But I remember it being slightly hidden, you have to go down a few menus that aren't so obvious
I found the equivalent info screen but it doesn't show hours, guess they must have thought better of it. Maybe it ruined the resale value (not that I see why they'd care.)
Exactly 11480 hours
I'M STILL STANDING
>its a display with an expiration date
My Vita is doing fine.
A marked improvement over other displays.
it looks the same because the refreshbmode for oleds burns all LEDs in uniformly, it just gets a lot dimmer overall
>release tons of info for new deck
>reception ranges from negative to indifferent
>gut production amount
>but back and prearrange purchases to claim it immediately sold out and create a false scarcity
>*WE ARE CURRENTLY HERE*
>hope that artificial scarcity creates a wave of FOMO and boosts actual sales on the next cycle
it's all so tiresome
fomo for technology is retarded
there is going to be a way better one next year, and year after is goimmg to have an even better one
>reception ranges from negative to indifferent
lol
>reception ranges from negative to indifferent
lol fucking what
>reception ranges from negative to indifferent
It got glowing reviews across the board
I’d buy one if it had 3x the performance
So that means they sold 50 of them? Wow congrats!
I just got my 1TB model. I hope you're jelly.
JODANSE PUTOS
ONE DECK IS COMING TO SOUTH AMERICA
gitgud
Well I replied to a wrong post. Congrats bro.
>you've trying to male too many purchases lately, wait a while
Alright, it's over. Guess I'm keeping my money.
I had that message for a bit, I tried on the mobile app and it went through. Still doesn't feel real but they did take my money so we'll see
I already own a computer and playing video games outside is for nintendies.
What is the actual use case for one of these exactly? Just seems like a shitty way to play your games at a bogus resolution and refresh rate.
>What is the actual use case for one of these exactly?
playing PC games on a handheld
>bogus resolution
it's a 7" screen
>refresh rate
'eck oled is 90hz
Okay but why would I want to play then on a handheld? Like my computer is right there. And there are better/cheaper ways to stream them to another room in the house
And can it even handle 90fps on a newer game?
if you have to ask what the appeal of a handheld is then it's not for you
I usually use it when I want to watch tv while I game, at friend's houses or when I travel.
Watch tv while you game? Wtf
you wouldn't get it, why bother asking for an explanation?
I dunno, just curious on the need to consooooom
>w-why are you buying it
none of your business dumb homosexual
Woah, no need to be so hostile friend. Enjoy your $700 toy
drop an address and i'll enjoy smashing it over your head
Post arms, nerd.
Buying things feels good.
Not anymore 🙁
>Guys what's literally the point of tampons? I mean I don't have a pussy but if I did couldn't you just choose to bleed into the toilet?
This is exactly how stupid you sound.
>why would you want to play gamepad PC games on your couch or recliner?
It's called expendable income, at a certain point buying a $600 gadget once per year doesn't matter any more. You should know by now most hobbies are more expensive than gaming. Most people easily spend $3000+ a year on any given hobby.
I sometimes want to play games on the bed/couch, I personally don't use it all that much in my main home but I always take it with me to the beach. It's really nice not having to carry a cumbersome laptop that needs peripherials and just playing it in the balcony. Also always bring it on long train/car travels, or whenever I go on vacation for a week with friends.
>Okay but why would I want to play then on a handheld? Like my computer is right there.
Not everyone is a goblin who spends all day at their desk.
They are just seething anti-Nintendo nerds
that's nice
going to go back to playing modded elden ring on my deck now
for finishing your backlog: all those shitty $5 usd games that everybody get in Xmas and nobody install in his PCs. With Deck you have a excuse for play that games
I got mine
There was a message I got that said something like "shipping times have increased due to higher volume of units" Makes me wonder if they said fuck it and doubled the number of available units or something. Gratz though
yea it started showing 2-4 weeks rather than 1-2 weeks
Lucky cunt, not for sale in my country. I hope the 'ick on 'eck poster gets one although maybe it's not for sale in his country seeing as he still has his skin.
Why do decksisters always bring up the switch? I see people talk about PC and not consoles constantly, I see people talk about PS5 and not Xbox all the time, I see people talk about Nintendo and never other consoles or PC regularly. I have never seen even a single steamdeck thread that doesn't resolve around the switch.
Why is that all these threads are about?
>I see people talk about Nintendo and never other consoles or PC regularly
Bait needs to be somewhat believable. And deck threads bring up the switch because tendies fucking invade them constantly.
Why do disingenuous retards act like this dosen't happen all around? You're all brand whores, as if you wouldn't try to get one up on eachother for the most minor of changes.
That anon didn't even mention the Switch but it's easy to compare Switch/Deck because they are both handhelds. No point in comparing it to a non handheld console as that's a closed system.
What rip off for that price. I have laptop, with 144hz, for the same price that kills a steamdeck in performance.
I take it with me when I'm on trips.
damn anon post that laptop
>for the same price
Post it. Reminder the base model is 350.
It's still available in europe.
woot I got my limited edition, really stoked
>tax $54.32
Do Americans really
8% sales tax on a 700 dollar product is the standard
What's wrong, scared of seeing tax rates that aren't double digits, Europoor?
Seeing the Tax as a separate listing as the price is what's scary, its usually just included on the price here.
tax is different in every state, so the calculation is done at the end. some states have no sales tax
It cost 679 yuros in Europe though, WITH the sales tax included.
>got the 512GB OLED model
>tfw regret started to sink in
I have a beefy PC and a big ass TV. I also never play outside my house. Do I keep the order? Is the Deck really worth it? I like handhelds, but it's been years since I last played with one.
EMBRACE THE CONSOOOOOOOOOM
you can return it after you get it. No regret until the return window closes.
14 day window after receiving it, right? And I guess I could also just sell it even after that window closes.
Yeah, that does sound comfy and reminds me of when I used to play with my Vita and 3DS.
It is my first. I was debating on whether I should get an old Deck for cheap, the OLED one or just skip them and wait for SD2.
Play the Deck in bed for maximum comfy.
If this is your first deck I think it's worth it. If this is your second deck then wait until Steamdeck 2 comes out.
Try it out, if you don't like it sell it. Deck was the best vidya purchase I've ever made
i feel a lot like you, but at the same time i dont know what the fuck else i should spend my money on
now that im a working adult with a stable salary i have never had less things i want to buy
Same tbh. I keep saving up money and it keeps piling up but I don't really have anything much I want to buy, well aside from a house but that shit's so expensive these days that I doubt I'll ever be able to afford one.
Fly to japan and go to soapland. More fun than any video game these days tbh.
Buy stocks and/or a house. Your base needs are finally met now you can protect your future.
Well, you can stream your games from your high end pc to your oled deck while you are outside or in the toilet or bed room. 1080p at 90fps - Ultra settings. Very convenient!
>he fomo'd and bought portable ps4
Cancel it. I'm sure it's a cool gadget but if you're not gonna have the opportunity to use it then what's the point?
>use it on the toilet
How long shits do people even take?
>use it in bed
I only go to bed to sleep.
>use it on the commute
I work from home.
I can't even use the Steam deck on my bed. My wife will just complain and tell me to throw it away
Time to start reading VNs and emulate old games that looks like shit on big screens, like gameboy games, from the comfort of your bed or your shitter
I will finally be able to read Dies Irae
baka
this is what I mean when I said theres no logic behind why people buy this stuff, its just "I NEED TO CONSOOM THE LATEST THING"
refund it
buy a RG405M
laugh at deckfags being tied to their bed while you play sonic adventure at the park
cancerous money horder israelitelover
its an awesome piece of tech, but as someone that hates handheld gaming... it wont change your opinion on handhelds
it will also make you realize that the mouse is literally the greatest input device ever created and theres just no going back to worse
Did they improve the battery life yet?
Yes, 50% more battery life.
Okay what games we loadin up first? I'm thinking Persona 4 and Sekiro
Will load up Persona 4 probably. Its my favorite game
>Still Van Gogh APU
>still 7' display
Yikes
>1 hour and 24 minutes
>1200p in a handheld
stop joking
in a handheld
RDR2 at 1200p is a feast for the eyes.
>7'
actually it's 7.4' now
it's the 6nm chip not 7
James, when are you getting your Deck?
Hi James 🙂
James who
https://arch.b4k.co/v/thread/657689761/#q657708931
James.
Why Mr. Hyster, of course!
>buy steam deck LE
>no plan to use it
>valve sees it was never activated on my account
>get banned from buying steam decks
now i can finally relax and not have a heart attack waiting for the LE
The limited edition model is still in stock meaning it's not actually very limited. Everyone just fell for the fomo
Myself included
whats all the Hysteria about?
sneeding on thirdies rn (right now)
see
I'm glad I avoided the stress and this shitshow. Gonna pick one up in a couple months when they go on sale
Bros, I was finally able to order my 1TB deck. Turns out my paypal CC was blocking the purchase. Recommend my some games to play on it.
Samurai Western
are we sending james christmas gifts?
Wow James has a pretty nice house
Where did you go James? Are you still with us?
Oh shit
>sold my 256gb days before the price drop announcement
>bought a full index kit from some chump for $300
life is good
I had to buy it with my debit card instead of paypal :(, I got apporved of paypal credit but have no use for it anymoe
>decided to use my credit card instead of paypal credit for the 3% cashback
>end up using it directly instead of through paypal, so only get 2%
Feels bad
Damn I need to get a credit card to build credit but shits so overwealming
Get a discover secured card. I was a NEET for 10 years until about 6 months ago and now I have 2 credit cards + paypal credit. Just make sure to pay everything off before the due date.
>shits so overwealming
How so?
I was convinced by my parents to go to college out of state for cyber. Now with student debt, Im weary about debt in general
Usury is a sin. Do not take debt or get one for like $500 with no yearly fee and pay it off immediately
There's nothing overwhelming. You just use it like a debit card. Pay it off every week so you don't accrue interest.
You still accrue rewards points, so its literally free money. Just get whatever fee-less card you can.
>finally get through to payment
>pic related
NOOOOOOO
FOR FUCK SAKE
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I felt this pain with the first deck, keep at it.
Thanks anon, got it through
I don't really have a problem with James. At least he sounds like hes a white guy and that gives me hope for Ganker. Don't let the seething browncels get you down bro.
Is anyone gonna send him pizza?
Someone should legitimately buy a pizza for that guy.
He earned it.
Yeah, I couldn't find more detail about him. He must be very smart cuz he provided his little personal info to the internet world. His address could be fake.
>I don't really have a problem with James.
Same, he at least gave me a few laughs.
Heads up to anyone trying to get the LE, I think they're dripping out more stock as the day goes on.
Just managed to snag one a few minutes ago even though they were out of stock when I tried at release.
Seems like it since I've seen it go in and out of stock. Hopefully they actually made a ton and the scalpers get fucked.
What will happen to Valve when Gaben dies?
Elon Musk will buy it
I can actually see him trying to do that. I'm surprised someone like him hasn't just personally bankrolled his own dream game at this point.
800p. next year valve will sell 1080p and take money again from testers.
If I could ask God for one thing. I'd have all these guys get cancer and die, to be honest with you
I agree, but you can order it now. it is still in stock.
Take pleasure that all of these guys have been fucked by Valve, because its still in stock.
I wonder if it was a falseflag operation by valve
they probably saw demand and decided to increase batch count
I think so. They will make more LE to spite the scalpers.
Based Gabe fucking up scalpers.
>all the turdies buying steam cucks
Absolute zozzle.
>got 2 limited editions
hopefully they make more custom cases going forward
Seems like a no brainer and easy money.
Based Gaben. I hope his casket will be lined with diamonds.
Anyone actually got their purchase through with PayPal?
anyone else's pending that used steam wallet?
I own a gayman laptop. I have no need for this.
After all, both are bulky hardware that can't fit in a pocket and will never leave the house.
your laptop can fit in your pocket?
He wears jnco jeans from 1998.
The trick is being sure your wallet chain doesn't scratch the screen when you take it out!
Anyone know the difference between the limited edition and the regular high end model?
transparent plastic, some red accents, and some digital goodies
transparent case and red accents, that's literally it
I believe it just the translucent deck shell, the carrying case and some digital things.
This pic is what "insists upon itself" means if you didn't know
see
You will get the Limited edition carrying case with removable liner
its a tight fit but the steam deck fits in my back pocket
> Boogie sized shitter.
>t.
why do people buy these?
oh actually I know why. theres no logic behind, forget I even asked
Snoys coming in droves today
I love playing my Deck in the backyard in a lounger on a warm summer's day.
>ask question you already know the answer to
>get answer
>ask same question again every fucking day but preface it by giving your own strawman answer
why are you mentally ill?
The software is worth it over any other handheld. It's constantly updated. Check out performance from last November to now just from software updates and patches.
It's dockable as a PC to play with a controller and hooked up to a TV/monitor
It plays almost every older system in addition to most steam games with customizable TDP and other settings based on how you want to play.
OLED model has 25% better battery and a nicer screen.
But you knew all of this already.
> OLED model has 25% better battery and a nicer screen.
> iPhone 6 display is 4.7 inches in size with a 16:9 resolution of 1334x750 (326 ppi, minus one row of pixels), while the iPhone 6 Plus includes a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 (1080p) .
image still using iphone 6
flopped and shitted, right?
>"very limited stock"
>"that we keep replenishing"
NOOOOOOO MY SCALP SCHEMAS
It was out of stock a few minutes ago and now back in stock. Its like shrodinger's webpage were it could be either or when I check on it. It could be the website fucking around, valve pulling stock from other regions/future builds, poorfags realizing they don't really have dosh for it, and/or scalpers unable to decide whether they want to scalp or not. Its Incredibly schizophrenic.
I think they are adding batches over intervals of time so that more people actually have a chance at getting one instead of just dumping them all at once and everything getting sold out immediately
I was pleasantly surprised to see it restocked. It's still in stock now too. Gabe dabbing on scalpers is a great treat.
The special one did, the regular OLED is still available.
LE is still in stock
2-4 weeks
Then both still are, I see nothing is out of stock for me and I'm in the US.
They reopened the orders for 1tb OLED, I got through.
the steam app was so fucked up I couldn't buy it on my phone so while I was racing home, I literally had to talk my mom through the steps of unlocking my laptop and buying it, thank god for her cause she got one
>yes mom, with a hard r
>now open firefox mom
>no mom Google is evil, just press the round orange button in the taskbar, it's the only one
>okay now- yeah that's- no mom I'm not ga- I'M NOT GAY MOM IT'S CALLED A FUTANARI
>look mom I'll explain to you later just ignore it and open a new ta- yes mom I know you want grandkids now open a new tab and write steam in the search bar
>now click on the picture that says steam deck, okay now scroll down and press buy on the-
>it's not a nint- yes mom I already have a "nintendo" but this is different please just click buy
>okay now my credit card is in a sock that's- yes, "that" sock mom, yes I know it's gross but it's an emergency mom
>okay that's it thank you mom love you
sensible_chuckle.tif
I actually had to talk to my wife like this unironically and explain it to her this morning
>they're called programming socks MOM
I giggled
The first three are "literally" me
(you) here, firstly fuck you secondly that was pretty funny, surprisingly accurate too, she had to close brave and it took so long to get her to find the steam icon
have they confirmed if the old docking station will work for the new one?
Yes
u don't need the official dock, and they didn't make a new dock so it should be fine
Why on earth would you think it wouldn't work
bruh, you can plug any random usb c hub into these things, it's all the same shit
Is the LE actually "limited"? It has been in-stock for quite some time.
It's been in and out of stock. I think valve fucked the scalpers.
They're probably trickling out restocks.
It's fluctuated a few times between oos and in stock.
I think Valve is doing what they can to fuck over scalpers, god bless them.
Also, where the fuck is James? I miss that guy.
James doesn't exist. Look up his address, not there. It is not California.
You know tendies are afraid when they need to larp as snoys too
What's "over"
Does it still weigh 10 pounds.
yikes. you will die sooner.
It's actually lighter, believe it or not. Not by much though.
You must be another seething, insane mongrel from one of the lesser countries.
t.poorfag
sup. only shill deck tards bring up shit like being too poor to afford them
Snoyschizo pls
I agree, people that do that are retarded really, sure even if they have the money to spend , honestly I still think they are retarded and its a waste of money, its the same with people who buy every new iPhone that comes out, the phone has minor differences compared to the last one, and yet the price is ridiculously high, those people are so cringe. They just want the latest thing to show off to people who dont really care anyway
The problem I have with this behavior is that it always ruins everything. We literally can't have nice things because these fucking morons with literally buy a subscription to technology and then complain about how everything sucks and they own nothing.
You do realize that without people to buy the Steam Deck the Steam Deck wouldn't exist? Your opinion to the extreme is the death of all peripherals.
>if you don't pay 600 you are killing all peripherals!
Fucking retard.
>if you think any $600 peripheral is a waste of money then you'd never buy any which means the ecosystem collapses
We literally wouldn't have nice things if poorfags like you never bought anything because it's "mindlessly consuming" so you play games on your 8 year old PC.
>600 for a device worth 300
That's a good deal you should buy more.
>worth $300
Prove it, name alternatives.
>muh Switch
The console that rakes you over the coals when it comes to the price of games?
So is your argument that you are buying the deck to emulate but you can't jailbreak a switch?
My argument is PC games are dirt cheap so you'll save money in the PC ecosystem just by the virtue of the differences in sale prices.
>emulation
Yes, the Deck can emulate the Switch. So that's 100% value over the Switch.
$300
Lrn2read 600 isn't 300. Saying that you'd buy something for 600 when market value is 300 is fucking stupid.
>market value is $300
Because the Switch is $300? Do I need to explain how every game you want to own on Switch is $60 *on sale for $55?
Do I need to explain that you can't play any modern AAA games on Switch?
>you can't play any modern AAA games on Switch?
Nothing of value is lost.
>Lies of P isn't a game of value
Objectively false
>Muh switch
no one cares. Paying 600 for a 300 device is fucking retarded.
Try not being poor. I know $300 is a lot of money for a poor fag, but try getting a job.
>Try not being poor.
Only an idiot would look at price and offer to pay double for it. Certainly not anyone looking to stay rich.
>bro you can just pay less for used shit
Wow anon that's some great poorfag insight
Did you know food is free if you dive in dumpsters? Please tell me about how much you save on food too by eating other people's scraps.
lol?
>left easy to see and look at what matters, scenery isn't important for gameplay so it gets shoved to the background
>right too much detail, tires the eyes, poor visual clarity
if you want to, you can render the game at slideshow framerates and 160p internal resolution on the deck and rub vaseline and cum all over the screen to mimic the switch version, hell you could even straight up emulate the switch version. you will never be able to make the game run at reasonable settings on the switch
I love seeing this copepost anyway, all arguments aside
>every $300 steam deck is $600
You are retarded kys
there is no <$300 steam deck. refurbished have been sold out for weeks
>tendie's howling
I think what he was getting at is that this inexpensive hobby isn't going to continue to be inexpensive if morons are proving they will pay anything just for some minor improvements.
>implying everyone who buys something must only be doing it as minor upgrades
>implying poorfags don't benefit when people sell their LCD Steam Decks for $300 on eBay
You're first going to need to prove that the majority of Steam Deck OLED purchasers already own a Steam Deck.
>but people on Ganker
People on Ganker aren't the mainstream.
>You're first going to need to prove that the majority of Steam Deck OLED purchasers already own a Steam Deck.
Argument into the void, there isn't data on this but that doesn't mean that's not what is happening.
Argument into the void because you're making a butthurt assertion based on something you're pulling out of your ass. My assertion is as valid as yours. Sometimes anon you should just stop posting if you pull shit out of your ass and then get mad about it.
There are no sales data. Even if it existed right this second, only valve has it and it's unlikely to be correlated to previous steam deck owners. Literally impossible to prove but that absence of proof doesn't rule out the possibility of previous steam deck owners buying new decks.
Argument into the void because you're making a butthurt assertion based on something you're pulling out of your ass. My assertion is as valid as yours. Sometimes anon you should just stop posting if you pull shit out of your ass and then get mad about it.
How the fuck is this anything like buying into a subscription. It's a full fledged pc. Buying into any console is far more cucked and "you will own nothing" than the deck.
This was in reference to the 300+ every 2 year comment and had nothing to do with buying the steam deck.
u mad
if you cannot afford 300-600 dollars every 2 years for your hobbies, you should no longer have hobbies and should focus on getting your shit together.
>no hall effect sticks
>controls not detachable from screen
Come on
>hall effect sticks
?
they didn't include HALL EFFECT joysticks because reliability wasn't up to snuff
To be fair q/a is bad on some of the hall effect controllers. Good hall effect sticks though are worth it.
it's still going to be easy to upgrade the hall effect sticks when the stock ones go bad
>controls not detachable from screen
what a stupid, meme feature
>multiple switch models with detachable controls
>legion go has detachable controls
>anon arguing that it's an unreasonable obscure technology
>that it's an unreasonable obscure technology
no one said that, they said it was fucking dumb and pointless
Why is it dumb and pointless, homosexual?
>controls not detachable from screen
Got to really dig deep for this one now eh?
huh?
guess for LE
1-2 week "very limited stock"
3-4 week made to order, unlimited stock
Whatever that means, peasant.
Got the 512 GB model, doesn't seem like a good deal for the 1 TB plus I never had storage problems with my old Deck because you really don't play modern AAA on it.
>Got the LE Model
>going to swap the SSD with my old 2TB ssd, and put the OLED's 1TB SSD into my LCDeck.
>give the old deck to my little sister for her birthday and christmas
>>>give the old deck to my little sister for her birthday and christmas
based af
what is your little sister giving you in return for a $500 present
Love/Affection
I don't expect her to give me anything in return, also only paid about 380 bucks on it because I got it during the summer sale.
Going to set up Switch emulation and roms for her. taiko no tatsujin is her favorite game so im loading up yuzu with all the DLC songs and stuff for her.
Something more valuable than you could ever possibly imagine!
a lifetime of love, loyalty and familial affection?
Shit, I guess you can imagine that.
>He needs something in return to give someone he cares about gifts
It's not a fucking "Present" if they owe you something in return, it's just a forced loan under a different name and more insidious circumstance.
>he gives his sister his deck in a box for free
I'm an only child, I do not have a sister.
It's why I can fap to incest porn guilt free
guilt is the Hispanice that makes it fun
Careful about swapping the SSD this time around. The ribbon cable...
The what now
Beware...
What the fuck
Thanks for the information, I've seen the tape/ribbon cable from the teardown, so I'll just be extra careful and not take off the tape.
21:30 in, he swaps the SSD without damaging the cable
If the ribbon cable is anything like the Switch Joycon Ribbon Cable, I should be okay.
It’s not that big of deal there’s vids on YouTube (find them yourself) of guy replacing ssd he just holds the plate up an inch or so and wiggles ssd out while ribbon is taped to it after undoing 2 screws, looks short bussin simple af fr fr
SCALPING FUCKS CAN DIE IN A FIRE! They're all fucking up on Ebay.
I've been trying to order the LE since 1:00 EST and its crashing on the payment method screen. "error initializing or updating your transaction". Fuck this garbage, Valve did marginally better than the original but this is in no way acceptable
bro its still in stock
I'M FREEEEEE
TRYING TO SWITCH TO PAYPAL WAS A BITCH BUT WORTH
Does the new one actually have good haptic feedback?
>tetris
Is the dock (not deck) even worth it if I already have a beefy PC? Also, how are the haptics compared to the Steam controller. Even just touching the pad on my controller makes an annoying static-y noise.
I’m a console game and never owned a PC because I don’t have the money or no space to put it. I’ve always wanted something like this for PC gaming got the one terabyte version after 30 minutes can’t get the limited edition because from England
>two different OLED suppliers
yeah I'm going to wait
>>two different OLED suppliers
wow, just like apple
ye the same two and one of which is trash (BOE)
How's that a vote of confidence? Holy shit I hate apple.
>nagger clickbait
i noticed this too, the only video you can see the limited edition up close is this one with the valve engineer interview:
talk a lot about experimenting with transparent shells
Yeah we're getting more versions
that's because zoomers bought them all because they are retarded
emudeck or retrodeck
doesn't really matter.
>tfw too retarded to get emudeck to run
Deck just kept crashing when I added several thousands of snes, gba and gameboy games to the library
Idk then.
Might try again with my new OLED model. Steam deck OS got patched and I presume so did emudeck.
emudeck is a lot better in my experience
>rumors that games installed on sd cards will not be compatible with the oled deck
i stg if i have to reinstall my games i will have a stroke
There is no way that is possible.
There are no rumours, why would you think the software is different? If you can move installed games on as cards between current decks then it'll work on the OLED
seriously, how is Nintendo going to respond to UMPCs? If the switch 2 is just a spec bump they are now in exactly the position they have been avoiding for 20 years and this time its 10x worse because its against the PC that updates every year and is more pro consumer on every level.
nintendo doesn't have to worry, tendies will buy it no matter what
the gamecube, wiiu and to a lesser extent the 3ds make that hard to believe. Their best selling systems from recent memory all had a unique selling point. When they do exactly what the competitor does everyone just buys the competitor with a better library.
by switch 2 I don't think anyone is going to care about the on the go gimmick
that's my point, it already happened though it was a huge part of what made it a success.
Yeah I have no clue what they will do honestly. Switch again, but slightly more powerful isn't interesting.
>Switch again with double the performance and ray tracing isn't interesting
it won't be double
Dude the Switch has been out for 6 years, it's going to be double the performance.
nintendo always finds a way to cheap out
The wii u and 3ds had "unique selling points" too it's just that all of nintendo's gimmicks are total fucking garbage, the only reason Nintendo moves consoles is because of their games.
Game libraries are like a chicken and egg scenario, you can only get an install base through libraries but the library only arrives when there's an install base.
switch 2 will be base ps4 power and not oled
Nintendo sells access to Nintendo games. They don't have competition to their own monopoly.
monopoly on what? 30 million gamers? Why does every other system they release flop? why is the "forever nintendo" die hard so flaky?
>monopoly on what?
Their own games.
>Everyone owns a switch
speak for yourself homosexual
Switch is surprisingly thin on "gimmicks" and/or tech has matured to the point they dont' feel like that.
>Display multitouch tablet is not particularly new, but is quality.
>There is a Dock which again isn't new, but allows for play both on 3rd party displays and on-device one. It is rather a pity that Nintendo didn't take advantage of this for other things, like bundling in a Nintendo skinned Kodi
>JoyCons are the most "gimmick-y" but they are solid controllers that usefully can disconnect from the Switch and have latest gen movement detection compared to Wii/WiiU waggle.
Deck definitely still feels very beta at times with all them major features still being patched in
why are steam shills so pathetic?
I was on the fence because I don't really need it. But on checkout it said that I couldn't use my saved paypal and I couldn't be fucked to rummage through my wallet in my coat pocket downstairs so I took it as a sign that I shouldn't get it.
what game will you play in OLED first?
Persona 4, while being naked on my bed
RoRR
FF14
512 or 1TB? I already owned LCDeck with 1TB but I own a beefy PC now so am I gonna need all that space?
512, etched glass is a meme
only get the 1TB if you can get the limited edition
you can upgrade ur storage easily on the 512
>only get the 1TB if you can get the limited edition
>you can upgrade ur storage easily on the 512
No you retard, the 1TB still has an etched glass screen just like the LE.
u can slap a matte screen protector on the 512 and get the same effect
Yes, but you can't "unmatte" the etched screen which is what you actually want to do on an OLED.
dave2d remarked that adding a glossy screen protector to the oled restores the blacks
i use my deck outside so id rather have a good anti glare than anything else. anybody who used the vita knows.
>dave2d remarked that adding a glossy screen protector to the oled restores the blacks
Quote him. He said it lessens the penalty but doesn't fully restore it.
512 is enough and if you can't get by on that you can put a 1tb sd card in
Those models are two different screens. Choose based on that instead of the storage size.
>Those models are two different screens
no they aren't
retard
>no argument
both are oled, only difference is whether the finish is matte or not
Right and that anon is saying choose based on that and not the storage size. What are you arguing?
he is saying they're two entirely different screens when the panel is identical
Quote the part where he said they're different panels.
it's the same part where he said they're different screens
If the finish makes the two screens look different from each other, how are they the same?
>only difference is whether the finish is matte or not
lol you figured out that you are retarded and made a desperate addendum to save face
cool projection, but we all know the only reason for a non-substantive reply like you did is because you have no fucking idea what you're talking about. the screens are the same
>cool projection
>he is saying
lol
>he is saying
correct, your words:
>"Those models are two different screens"
Retard.
keep digging that hole for yourself buddy
you dumb cunt lmao
samefag
Seethe. You got called out, now you're backpedaling. Just stop posting.
Which one is matte? I hear OLEDs dont look nice in matte
1TB is the antiglare screen. 512 is the glossy.
depends entirely on what you play, how many different games you play and how fast your internet is
Be sure to wrap up your deck before you thrust it in the face of your loved ones this christmas day
>no leet edition
ngmi
How do I check my shipping time guys? Said 3-5 days when i first try tried to order. Does that still hold up?
pls respond
You can't. You could ask support but they're probably swamped with requests and by the time they get back to you, it'll probably be shipped already.
Can you replace the onboard SSD with your own? Or does it have to be Valve because the OS is loaded onto it? Sorry if the question is dumb, it's my first one.
you can replace it
>because the OS is loaded onto it?
you have to reinstall the OS, but it isn't a big deal
Fuck yeah, thanks anons. Gonna buy a good m.2 with Black Friday sales next week.
make sure the size of the drive is 2230. anything bigger won't fit
Anon pls check these posts
Anon pls. Enjoy your steam deck.
Thanks for the heads up
You can put most m.2 2230 form factor SSD's into the deck. You just need to put the foil shield from the old one on the new SSD. Then, you just use Rufus to put the SteamOS installation image on, and then boot from it to install on ur new drive
You can switch the SSD. They made the OLED model easier to open and modify too.
see
>dave2d
Is that the guy who showed the deck with studio lights directly on the screen? It looks fine in every other review I've seen, even when compared to the Switch OLED.
yes lmao. the etched glass drama is overblown
I mean, I'm sure there's some quality loss, but it doesn't seem like you'll notice it in normal lighting conditions, and when you do it's just the etched glass doing its job.
I basically only ever get to game in bed with my son sleeping in my arms. I have no use for anti glare.

2015 called
What accessories do you guys recommend. What's a good case, screen protector and any other stuff you recommend
why the fuck do you need a case and screen protector?
cheap portable usb-c dock is the only accessory i had any use for. Docking is too fiddly and the deck is too weak to want to do it constantly so the valve dock is overpriced but for the few times you need it a cheap dock is very useful.
What hub are you using?
some 20-30 buck ugreen adaptor that handles 4k and 60fps. has a ethernet port and power pass through + 2 usb ports which is all you'll ever need from a dock, small size is also preferable to an actual dock.
Kinda want a nice kickstand but a case just seems like itll hurt the thermals
I have that Daydayup case. I like that I can fit the charger inside.
Yeah you can attach it - both Killswitch and Deckmate also have abilities to mount a batter pack on the back of them
I've always liked film protectors more than glass. What's your aversion?
Wait holy shit lmao.
An hour ago I thought the Limited Editions were sold out.
But then they're back again but with just added wait time.
Did Valve just bamboozle the scalpers?
Scam the scammers?
yes, they're restocking the LE cuz they knew saying "it was limited stock" would attract scalpers like flies
baiting the scalpers to the limited edition frees up the nornal decks as well
if this was genuinely olanned by valve then based
but if not then they did nothing and still won
theyre also all paying $150 for what is essentially a different piece of plastic. Its brilliant
It seemed weird they'd go with a limited edition at all. Seemed like nothing but pure scalpbait. Guess it literally was. Based gaben.
GAYBEN IS THE ORIGINAL SCAMMER
THESE SCALPINGTARDS THINK THEY CAN OUTARTIFACT THE ARTISHAT
tendies seething SUPER fucking hard ITT holy FUARK
>get steam deck LTE
>remember that i use a case and a skin with my deck
uhoh
why not just get the Asus handheld? it's a lot more powerful
>kills SD cards
>Armory Crate constantly shits itself
>cheap sticks, buttons and d-pad
thank you for an actual con list because I was being sold that it was better but I wasn't really looking to buy it
Because I want Valve support/warranty/price, I don't play nuAAA slop and I don't pay for devices with preinstalled Windows.
fair enough
No touchpads
No instant sleep/wake
>LCD Deck collecting dust
>still wanna but OLED
what do bros
>other one is collecting dust
>let me just...consooooom....one...more....thing
Why the dust brah?
if you didnt like lcd deck you wouldn't like an oled
A) embrace new age consumerism, spending money is part of the fun.
B) sell your LCD deck and run far away
I strongly support what valve is doing here so I say consoooom
Are the dbrand. or satisfye shells worth getting. I like having a protective shell for the 'eck for some reason compared to my switch. I do have a shell on my old lcd 256 deck but I dont know if it will fit the oled
i bought a steam deck a month ago and then this shit comes out
fuck valve
If it was only a month ago just ask for a return, they're very lenient if you can get a hold of an employee. Just say you want to put the money towards the new deck.
How do you know if you got the LE? Are all the 1TB designs gonna be LE shell and sticks?
it tells u on ur receipt and purchase history
There is a separate product listing for the LE.
If you're outside of US or Canada you can't get the LE. dunno if that helps
Why would you ever buy Valve garbage instead of the Switch?
A switch cannot play my pc games while i am visiting family across country.
When I still had classes during the pandemic I even managed to record some online classes running on my PC from my phone while I worked in a lab via remote control, works good these days in my opinon
>stream to laptop
i remember last time i tried this like 3 years ago it was crap.
How do you do it?
>all this money and still can't fully copy the switch screen
I'm about to consoom
day of the scalp
scalps got whats coming to them
can you buy the original one and stick a 512GB stick in it and expand the memory and save money?
Yes
Skill issue
>he didn't buy when it was 3-5 days
>they never ordered something from Alibaba or whatever and had to wait several weeks for the container to arrive via ship
Patience is a virtue, my ADHD-riddled zoomer friends
Amazon or steam only please. Keep your third world vendors to yourself.
I don't need patience when I get whatever I want when I want it.
Nice 5-10 days, cuck.
>6-10
Yikes.
>6-10

Melinabros...
Ayre in AC6 was what I wanted Melina to be.
But Hackazaki is a tard that even kneecapped Sellen's kino dialogue to shill Ranni.
Black friday is tomorrow tho.
I say that, I say nothing....
ARE THERE ANY OLED STEAM DECKS LEFT?
yes, plenty
how important is a good startup movie?
they're a waste of points. you can get a plugin with decky loader called "Animation Changer" that gives you custom startup and suspend animations.
You can also change the system sounds in Big Picture mode with "Audio Loader" so I can have menu music and nintendo dsi menu sounds.
That's why I love the deck so much. So much customization and personalization.
It's a Linux box. Everything has to be somewhere. Just find out where it is and replace it.
>3 hours later and the LE is still in stock
Wow, I'm actually impressed Valve managed to build up enough stock to manage that. But I guess they can build up and sit on stock instead of having to worry about the books looking bad with unsold inventory.
they're just making more on demand now
2-4 weeks
Good.
Fuch scalpers and artificial scarcity.
That's cool if they're fucking scalpers like that. But I see the 512 and 1TB models are still 3-5 days so they haven't cleaned that stock out either.
It looks like they were way better prepared for demand this time around, even if their website wasn't. Makes sense given they'd have a much better idea of it than when they first launched the deck.
they need to overhaul the steam website itself. it's fucking ancient at this point and it's harder to use on big resolution monitors
It changed to 6-10 days in Europe after a couple of hours or so.
They likely loaded up as much as possible so they could get these out for christmas. Would've sucked so bad if it was like the first time around and you had to wait for over a year again. No excuse for that when they have a far better understanding of demand and can prepare.
>went out of stock in the first 10 minutes
>came back in stock 5 minutes later
>out of stock and in stock intermittently for a while
>now just in stock
Scalpers in shambles.
something tells me that this "limited" edition was only called limited for Valve to test their anti-scalping technique.
I cancelled my Deck LE order. I already have a deck, and only ordered the new one because I thought the LE was actually going to be limited, and not "limited to however many we can sell," therefore limiting the second hand market value should I decide to not keep it.
get fucked scalpoid
>noooooo you can't just cancel your order because you found out the advertised limited edition isn't actually limited
Actual retard mindsets.
>nooo im not speshul WAAAAAA
this is you
Seethe.
nobody will care if you have a nice day scalping parasite
>waaaaa it's available for more than an hour
u sound like a bitch
Scalpers are so butthurt today
Get fucked, everyone hates your kind.
good fuck off
so glad valve decided to assfuck scalpers
Interestingly, the first one is illegal in most countries, while the second one isn't.
Yeah turns out people are absolute retards so they'd rather die of thirst instead of paying $10 for a bottle of water.
This is perfectly timed, I can give my old LCDeck to my brother for Christmas instead of having to actually buy something new
>everybody thought the special deck is limited i numbers, but in reality it is time limited offer.
Sasuga GabeN
I had a feeling since they never gave a number of how many they have
>restock with delivery date change from 3-5 to 6-10 days
I wonder how high failure rate this rushed lot will have
For once its wild to me that Valve actually timed this launch so well
They bodied the Lenovo Legion's release
They leapfrogged the Playstation Portal mixed reception
They sneaked in early enough before the Switch 2's announcement next year
And they did all that right before Black Friday and Christmas rolled in
If they even expanded the distribution areas it would have been near perfect
Truth: Scalping is a more legitimate business than stock trading.
True, but they're still scum.
u must be socially disabled
True, but Is it worth damming your immortal soul for a few bucks?
I bought the limited edition. Now that I've got my confirmation receipt, I don't actually know if I want it.
If you cancel your order, the retards here will call you a scalper. Is cancelling really worth the cost?
>therefore limiting the second hand market value should I decide to not keep it.
>acknowledges scalping exists
>therefore he is a scalper himself
I don't understand how you people come to these conclusions.
I read the original post and all I saw is "waaaah why can't I scalp my deck LE for $1500 if I don't like it" kys lmao
>nooo you can't sell something for the price you bought it for you haaaaave to be a scalper
the difference being you don't want it because you only care about it being valuable so u can resell it daft homosexual
Based EU giving us a 2-year warranty instead of the 1 year fats get stuck with
>IF YOU ARE A CONSUMER WHO LIVES IN A EUROPEAN UNION MEMBER COUNTRY, THE UNITED KINGDOM, THE PROVINCE OF QUEBEC (CANADA), AUSTRALIA, OR NEW ZEALAND, THIS LIMITED WARRANTY & AGREEMENT DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU. INSTEAD, YOU ARE ENTITLED TO THE STATUTORY WARRANTIES OR GUARANTEES PROVIDED BY YOUR HOME JURISDICTION.
I might just buy one to replace my old toaster laptop with. Seems like a win-win to me
Deck is not a laptop replacement, everything other than playing games is suboptimal.
I use it for Anki and its 10,000x better then using a laptop.
And why would that be?
No physical keyboard for once. Or it has to be carried in protective case and takes so much space in a backpack.
> 380 nits IPS and 54% SRGB
I actually expected some shitty TN in it.
Using it as a laptop means, to me, using it with a docking station. People using Laptops on their own are weird.
deckbros, is there any difference between the standalone version of ryujinx and the emudeck version?
Do you need the dock to connect it to an external display? And if you don't, how bad is the compression when going from USB-C to HDMI or DP?
DP over USB-C won't have any noticeable compression
being able to drive high resolutions with deck hardware is another story, however
lol lmao
>i5-13420h
>mobile 3050
at least you get 1tb of storage I guess
>shit mobile GPU
>overheats
>shitty screen
>40 minutes battery life
>dies right after warranty (planned 2 years life)
As a rule gaming laptops less than $1500 are a waste of money.
this is shitty chinese garbage that will overheat in two months
i could careless about oled, anyone else feels the same?
Is it weird that I mainly use my Deck to play PS2 and GameCube games but also actively buy physical copies of PS2 and GameCube games?
That makes you the worst kind of consoomer. Paying premium for authenticity and then not using it.
Who says I don't? I'm playing DMC3SE on both Deck and physical.
>thought I bought the limited edition
>turns out I just grabbed the normal 1tb one
>$30 more orange, a transparent shell that makes it look like a gimped nintendo product and, at this point, a month extra delay
Oh well. Functionally no difference. The 3rd party shells look better anyway. Still get that liner too.
its not sold out at all though?
Fuck I ordered a normal 1TB and not a LE is it too late?
its still buyable
Is it?
yes it is, just spam it
They're still getting hit? Just be patient, it'll eventually go through. Took me an hour.
Gabe will take your money, you just have to be patient by being impatient and trying about 69 times. It was like this with a half dozen variations and stock messages for the first 25min of the launch.
You're not gonna get it for 4 weeks if you order now.
>they're slowly lowering their scalping prices after Gabe restocked
lol lmao
lower
>release console you know is going to be scalped
>only offer part of the full inventory in the first hour
>after some time of pretending it's out of stock, and the scalpers already listing their overpriced stuff
>dump it like the bogdanoffs
>scalpers start a race to the bottom while people just buy on steam directly
>by the time inventory truly runs out, scalpers will have bidden themselves down to retail price
Someone who understands market psychology did this.
I might pick one up from the scalpers if any of them are retarded enough to hold onto them to the point where they can't get rid of them just like with gpu's a while back.
Buy it only when you know they're taking a loss. Rub it in.
you guys know there's a return period right? If they don't sell for profit in 2 weeks, they're just gonna get all their money back.
Not if they think it might actually end up being limited and try holding on to it until valve stops selling it.
