I wanted to see if upgrading the version of GE proton from that discover store app bloated the compatdata folder size for games
first screenshot is from a non steam game I pirated and added to steam, with GE proton 7 31 or whatever the frick
second screenshot is after I just updated to the latest version of GE and switched it over (7 37 or something) and then launched the game again
final screenshot is after I completely wiped that compatdata folder and then launched the game with 7 37 again
sidenote, I had to manually delete the contents of that folder in desktop mode, clicking "delete proton files" for the game in game mode did literally nothing at all so I don't know what the deal with that is
final conclusion, it DOES increase the filesize, but by a very miniscule amount, and wiping it first and relaunching the game DOES reduce bloat, but by an extremely small amount
although this could be completely different depending on the game, I just picked this one to test it out on
whole yakuza series is on sale, and playing 3 on my bed sure is comfy. hopefully the unsupported logo on the other yakuza games is just because valve hasn't gotten to them yet.

Had to change controller settings in steam on desktop mode to enable the back buttons, disable the screen turning off when idle, watching a cutscene on duckstation the screen went one, then finally played some Blood Omen, one last little annoyance is the mouse is on the screen, have to tuck it away in a corner, fricking duckstation
