It's perfect for the size of the thing, also allows to run most things smoothly.
You can notice how unnecessary it is to have higher refresh rate and higher resolution when you can't barely keep steady high frame rate, or good battery life under these conditions, this happens in other devices.

Japan has always been weird about desktops and laptops, they probably see this as the perfect gaming machine that can also be used for laptop/desktop uses without taking up a lot of space.

In your dreams maybe. Deck sold in lifetime about as much as switch sold since beginning of 2023 alone.
Total sales are:
deck - 3m
switch - 132m
>they get to go pick them up from a store while some countries can't buy them at all
I get why they don't want to risk selling in australia because somebody at the office of consumer protection has it out for them and I could see some concerns about being wary of the EU along similar lines but there's no reason to not push it out elsewhere, not that I would buy it but it seems a bit silly
Try living in a based country and you won't have these problems. In another 10 years, you won't be able to buy ANY American products in the EU or Australia due to their retarded regulations.
God it hurts, euros cheer it on because of their inferiority complex towards America and Australians are just too politically ignorant to have any idea what's going on
steam deck was available in EU the same time or almost as the US. valve just can't be bothered with australian shit. they were probably thinking about a launch but the 3rd party market pretty much solved the problem.
To be fair, I'd believe it's true, but also people line up for literally anything in Tokyo. I've seen it so many times. It's a city of about 20 million people, it's very doable to find 100 people among them willing to line up.

It's not for everyone, yeah. Me, I work from home and I like to cook. So having something I can play in bed or in my office or in the living room while I wait on the food is nice

>Valve is too retarded to realise the only people buying it already have a PC and Steam
Dumbest post I've read all day. That is exactly why they're making the deck, it's a complimentary device. They're also uniquely positioned in this space to afford to sell the deck for a loss because they have steam to make that loss back.
You don't understand their grand strategy. Valve is unironicaly scared of Microsoft. Their main competitor may one day decide to close their entire business with a single Windows updated.
They are promoting Deck, so there is pressure on developers to make their games playable on Linux.
This.
The deck is just a means to an end. If the deck does well devs will keep supporting it - which means that they'll make sure games run through proton or even get native builds.
That way Steam protects itself from MS fuckery cause if MS ever get the idea to fuck Steam in a way that stops the platform from working on Windows - Valve could just tell everyone to install a basic Linux distro and nobody loses their library and everything.
It’s not just about maneuvering around windows.
If it was just that, they’d just quietly keep working on their Linux projects but wouldn’t do anything as bold (and expensive) as launching the Deck.
The Deck is about putting a check on the discrete GPU market.
The crypto-era price gouging had very real effects on their user growth.
The Deck is a major step forward for their Linux projects, but I don't think itsan issue about discrete GPUs so much; they have a custom chip made for the Deck which at the time was unusually ahead graphically vs nearly everything else. "handheld gaming tablet PCs" were basically a non-starter before the Deck, now everyone else is following that design. Valve doesn't have to worry about discrete GPUs so much, because any user can use an old GPU and still play games capable of it; I don't think it meaningfully affected the growth of Steam which is by far the top platform and the only one that gives users something actually beneficially and desirable (outside of niche limited setups like Itch or whatnot) . Cryptoshit mining era definitely fucked with things, but the Deck was way, way more dynamic and risk taking than that - they could have easily just pushed some set top boxes/mini PCs with APUs and/or discrete GPUs that were not miner focused if that was the case, but the Deck was about pushing forth Linux as a primary on the new SteamOS , other open source projects like Proton to that end, and basically trying something new in a way that benefits the user.
Also, talking about Japan the Deck basically broke open the Japanese mind who likes portables and is used to consoles being proprietary shitfuck locked down garbage. Now that they have a "console like" portable experience that's also a FULL PC not locked down in any way is a HUGE step forward.
Can you even get online in Splatoon 2/3 with an emulator?
And how many people are actually doing it? Is it worth the effort when you can just buy a Switch?
I know you can with Yuzu (has a "rooms" feature) and Ryujinx (you may need the LDN build), so yeah you can have multiplayer Splatoon 3. Unfortunately its not multiplayer "Nintendo Switch Online" mode but it is multiplayer and generally emulates LAN or LDN mode quite well. There was a project to create a real NSO alternative but the emu devs got cold feet. Honestly I'd hope they're just working on it in secret and will release it fully capable ASAP.
>consolefag tries to explain PC to PCfags
You're a retard. Valve doesn't give a fuck about the things you think they do. This is about linux first and foremost.
do it, very comfy, very recommended.
And because the charging port is at the top it won't poke your belly/chest unlike another certain handheld console that has it on the bottom forcing you to hold it up very awkwardly
totally depends on the games you play though. I can hit +12h on certain games for example. Plus the oled model has a better battery too. And you're automatically saving a bit of battery if you're playing late at night in bed by having the screen brightness lowered
The steam drones like to paint this narrative that the steam deck is selling really well but the nintendies are right in those sales not being that much, especially in comparison to the switch. You also must realize that steam drones insisted on the steam machine being the next big thing too even though that came and went and they called any naysayers retards like usual for even suggesting otherwise. It's always the same with them.
The Steamdeck is like the perfect system for them and the kind of games they consume. With Switch they are stuck with the same old Nintendo games. But with the Deck now they have access to everything from porn games to to the shitty gacha they love. And also some AAA titles like Resident Evil 4 Remake that are playable on the Deck but not on Switch.
I have zero interest in a steam deck, but I wish this shit would become mainstream for the simple fact that it's an open system. The idea is to make normalfags understand that being prohibited from installing software not approved by the corporation that built the device you are using should be the anomaly, not the rule.
Imagine a distant future where Nintendo needs to accept that people can install emulators and pirated games on the Nintendo Switch, and it can't do anything about that other than accept that people have freedom. It would be an insane world...
More PC in Japan is a good thing. You retards might call me a tendie all the time but I'm a PC gamer at heart. I fucking hope the Deck outsells the PS5 there.
>Japan starts putting effort into PC ports so they run smoothly on the Deck >JP devs either force Sony to course-correct or leave for PC/Tendie
A man can dream, right?
Japan is the land of handhelds so only the Switch and the Deck have a place there.
We already got the last bastion of Sony defense force (Vanillaware) to succumb to Steam and Nintendo so all the work is already done.
>these fucking tendie tears
Jesus christ calm the fuck down lmfao. Sure it may be more powerful than the switch in literally every single way but its never gonna outsell it, thought you tendies only cared about sales numbers, why all the butthurt?
Well there's that and the fact that he's massively in denial about this being harmful to Sony in Japan.
If it becomes a mega hit then Sony has completely lost their grasp on Japan given the thirdnpartu games, the only reason anyone even looks at Sony there, will be on a portable.
Well there's that and the fact that he's massively in denial about this being harmful to Sony in Japan.

It can play Switch games and PC games.
The Switch can only play Switch games.
>they haven't hacked it yet

I mean technically it was hacked for any version
you "just" need to solder a few wires attached to a small pi-like board to your switch
It's perfect for the size of the thing, also allows to run most things smoothly.
You can notice how unnecessary it is to have higher refresh rate and higher resolution when you can't barely keep steady high frame rate, or good battery life under these conditions, this happens in other devices.
yeah but unlike the switch it actually renders games at that resolution
More is good I like more. Maybe the switch should have more.
nagger your games barely even play 720p without struggling over 30fps, sit the fuck down.
>and the switch 2 will struggle like PC's when they attempt DLSS
>muh forced console war
have a nice day already
It offers vast improvements and features over the switch, not just a slight resolution bump
800 is 80 more than 720 retard.
also you have to multiply by 1280. it's 102,400 more pixels than the switch. you're an irredeemable retard twice over.
wow....... all 20 decks they made for japan got sold out......

thoughts on steam deck selling more than xbox in japan?

IT'S OK WHEN NINTENDO DOES IT
Great for Valve, but Steam Deck just isn't for me. I don't need a PC replacement when I can just project shit on my TV when I'm in bed anyway.
It's not for everyone, yeah. Me, I work from home and I like to cook. So having something I can play in bed or in my office or in the living room while I wait on the food is nice
Why did Switch died so easily by steam deck despite it was robust against xbox series x/s and game pass which BTFO'd PS5?
I'm sorry, which one sold 132 million, and which one sold like 4 million, if we're being generous?
>Switch died
the switch is probably going to be the best selling console of all time next year
Damn Valve sold 10 copies of shit deck!?
Phil's gonnna be pissed when he finds out Valve broke into Japan way easier than xbox
He needs to allow native game pass on Deck or Xbox is over.
They actually caved and stopped throttling the fuck out of you if your web browser's user agent reported as being linux a while ago.
Steam Deck has games that Japanese people want to play, Xbox still doesn't
If anything this is the final blow to the PS5 in Japan.
Two different markets though, if anything it's a challenger to the Switch.
No it isnt.

We're entering an era when Jap PC ports will be alright instead of total shit.
But western PC ports are total dogshit and require DLSS to run at a solid 30.
And the best part of all, ports that completelly ditch Shitendo hardware.
It seems like we're going the opposite way with the way the Switch 2 is shaping.
Armored Core 6 has been the best PC release this year.
Keep on refusing to improve your hardware, Nintendo. :p
This is absolutelly going to kill Nintendo. They're slow as shit to release games, and even slower to release new hardware.
Good fucking riddance.
Have fun going third party, you fucking retards.

Nips can preorder already? Is it at least reasonably priced this time around or did they raise the price over there again?
Why would anyone be surprised a handheld sells well in Japan? That’s like stating cod, fifa, and candy crush somehow made millions
Should I get a steam deck? Sounds like some comfy bed gaming
Valve betrayed me when I bought a steam deck. They released an upgrade not even a year after and spat in my face
you crawled so we could walk
thanks anon

Wait. Gabe sells them in Japan already but not in Europe?!
Europe is PS5 land.
Sold through a third party company that decided they can do what they want
Holy shit. Sweet Baby has their own handheld now?
OLED is GOD tier screen. Those nips know what's up.
So where's all the
>Linux gaming
posts?
Valve was too embarrassed to reveal the actual sales numbers for this thing. Why continue to shill for them?
I LOVE CONSOLE WARS, LET'S FREAKING GO PC XISTERS!!
More PC in Japan is a good thing. You retards might call me a tendie all the time but I'm a PC gamer at heart. I fucking hope the Deck outsells the PS5 there.
>Japan starts putting effort into PC ports so they run smoothly on the Deck
>JP devs either force Sony to course-correct or leave for PC/Tendie
A man can dream, right?
>doesn't release for another 6 days
>sold out
That's not how this works anon.
Japan is the land of handhelds so only the Switch and the Deck have a place there.
We already got the last bastion of Sony defense force (Vanillaware) to succumb to Steam and Nintendo so all the work is already done.
Switch 2 will sell 100 times more, who cares about your shitty DRM gadget LMAO
The Playstation Portal also sold out there
If you make 100 units of course it's gonna sold out.
Exactly. Same with the Steam Deck
>still no australia
JUST
>175 posts
>not one pointing out it's not even for sale until next week
neo-nuGanker is real
I hope the Switch 2 takes a little note from the Deck and makes better default controllers better (and fucking bigger).
So is the scalping thing, still a problem or did people stop doing that?
>snoy shitposting nintendo instead of actually playing video games
...you do have video games to play, right?
Even nagger-Tran 2 was too woke for them so they had to skip it. We're gonna see a lot of snoys for the next 2 years until their next game.
>these fucking tendie tears
Jesus christ calm the fuck down lmfao. Sure it may be more powerful than the switch in literally every single way but its never gonna outsell it, thought you tendies only cared about sales numbers, why all the butthurt?
>these fucking tendie tears
I don't know what you're talking about. Do you want them to be tendie tears?
get ready for a lot of tiny 'icks on 'ecks
I see Eric hasn't taken the 1k PS5 sales from yesterday very well
Well there's that and the fact that he's massively in denial about this being harmful to Sony in Japan.
If it becomes a mega hit then Sony has completely lost their grasp on Japan given the thirdnpartu games, the only reason anyone even looks at Sony there, will be on a portable.
Is he the equivalent of XV-kun but for Snoy?
He predates XV-kun and it's not that he likes Sony as much as he hates Nintendo.
Gaben did what Sony couldn't
BTFO Nintendo
>Nintendofags had to pay 50 dollars more just to get the OLED
>Meanwhile Valve just lower the prices of the older models and make the OLED models the same prices as the old ones
Just more proof of Nintendofags loving the assfucking Nintendo do to them
the fuck? Can Japan already pre-order this? It's not letting me
You can probably do it instore with cash deposit to reserve you one.
Sooo.. what are they “playing” on it? Cuz there’s no gachashit or splatoon
>there's no gachashit on pc
>you can't emulate splatoon
Can you even get online in Splatoon 2/3 with an emulator?
And how many people are actually doing it? Is it worth the effort when you can just buy a Switch?
Chinese are buying it from Japan.
1 Simplified Chinese 45.93% +13.71%
8 Japanese 1.52% -1.01%

>Snoy
Ohnonono
スノイゴキちゃん達の完敗ですわw
>switch oled $350
>deck oled $550
Which way white boi?
Tendies are becoming more and more like Sonicfags it's honestly sad.
>almost holidays
Yes.
imagine if he_ had a fat, veiny cock
wouldn't that be wierd? haha
>imagine
Nobody honestly believes that a Steam Deck would be comparable to the Switch in Japan.
Sony fucked up in Japan and even nips can get tired of bing bing wahoo.
