literally just make an offline patch or release the server files so anyone can make their own.
this would cost like a couple hours of work at most and it would be much better for their image than hiring all these homosexuals to defend them on the internet.

I think the plan is to just mandate an offline mode which is reasonable IMO. I don't really care though because the reason all these games are taken offline is because they're bad and no one wants to play them in the first place. Why should I cry about something that deserves to be wiped from people's memory in the first place?

How would MMOs have an offline mode? They would need to rebuild the game from the ground up to do it.

anyone else thinks this will backfire and companies will finally set subscription based stores and games as the norm? that way, it would be true that you don't own the game, plus they are setting a specific date when the game will "expire" for you and they will be covered legally for that
I don't know, it's a good cause and I want to see it happen, but I'm certain corporations will israelite it somehow

normies see the last asscred costs $70-110 and they'll prefer the 10 a month
but game pass is also struggling, so maybe you are right

I don't care either way, I don't play modern AAA games. I just want to hurt these game companies. The sooner the industry crash happens the better, them doing something moronic like that would definitely accelerate shit

well also this, could be the end of AAA slop, might force corpos to support games for longer with content

Poor people will just pay for 1 month and unsub after.
Rich people that would've bought more than 2 games/year will be paying less.

      >plus they are setting a specific date when the game will "expire" for you and they will be covered legally for that
This would at least be honest and useful consumer information. And im sure publishers will fight this every step of the way, since sales would tank if people definitively knew a game was within months of dying. Plus theres the opposite case where a publisher pledges support for 2 years or whatever, then the game flops out of the gate.

Whenever one of these threads comes around, I'm not sure of what the ratio of plain moronation, actual corporate shilling (paid or otherwise), and post-ironic contrarianism actually looks like. Because there are some of the most dumbfrick morons I've ever seen on this board in here.

Anon, there is no way all those morons are for real, right?

        Anonymous

I genuinely can't tell anymore. I believe the corporate shilling is mostly just stirring the shit for fun, though Americans are so used to having no consumer rights, there might be a couple genuine ones in there who'd do everything for the boot just to not anger it into stepping on them even harder.
But I think the third worlders and zoomers on Ganker are actually moronic enough to keep parroting the "you can't force companies to keep running forever" argument, even though it's been explicitly addressed dozens of times during this campaign. They just lack the understanding or attention span to get through a 10 minute video and retain all the information presented.

          Anonymous

I think the majority is clearly moronic otherwise we would not have this problem to begin with.

I don't believe this is just shitposting, shitposters wouldn't take it this seriously. It's definitely either paid shills or bots.
I can understand people disagreeing about the woke shit dramas, maybe they have their political beliefs that justifies it, but this ubisoft thing is literally just corporate shilling, i don't know how can someone look at a company fricking them over for profit and think "it's their right to do it!".

        >publishers have obligations to investors
Can't be fulfilling those obligations when a vast majority of these games fail. Used to be you'd pay $50-60 dollars for a multiplayer game with a tacked on 5 hour single player and dedicated/private servers. Now you pay nothing and the game vanishes in 2 years. Also you need constant nonstop updates, anti cheat software, holiday events, etc. Old games had one or two map packs (which you'd pay for) and then it was on to the next game.

How can this be sustainable? The entire industry is subsidized by morons buying outfits for a lame character that won't exist in a few years.
