dude just because you cant read or whatever doesnt mean the hardware upgrades in the original werent impactful, the only difference here is that now an animation plays when you pick it up

Diego makes the illegal deal with Hacker right in front of Tri-Op employees.
Maybe you can say they're robots, but its still a risk.
The original had Diego make the deal personally while looking over Hacker's shoulder as he hacks Shodan.
So you'd cry about it
Fortunately very few people have played the original so it's difficult to shitpost beyond posting the same webm over and over again
>Lets add action packed music to the game trailers and introduction but have no music in gameplay >Lets make half the designs very faithful to the original but the other half not
For what purpose?
I assume what happened was some of that (the ingame renders) was already coded in on a fixed camera angle so they just changed that segment but the painfully obvious AI upscaling is at 44 seconds where the ship suddenly has a large outline of white light
It's odd to me because they just released this screenshot of updated textures and a voxel? for the Many's growth but they didn't use them in the trailer

gonna be a pirate and delete after 15 minutes from me, dawg
Nightdive steals code from a dev who has worked on making Blade Runner work on modern systems, makes it dogshit, applies AI to make graphics dogshit as well, insults the dev. It's over.
As the director of the original game explained they used a lighting buffer as a deferred renderer to allow light to land on the voxels which represented the characters. This allows them to blend in with the environment at least somewhat convincingly. In Blade Runner remaster that wasn't working so the result was the image on the right. Couple of other changes like a mobile tier game UI and captions which also damaged the aesthetic, AI upscaled cutscenes which looked quite weird in motion and general blurriness and in some cases making signs hard to read.
I hate Nightdive purely because their laziness gets more and more apparent as they take on more projects that they don't have the man power for, yet no one in the Boom Shoot Industry ever backtalks them.
The kickstarter beta and public playable demo are only about 2 months old. Would have to change pretty dramatically for it to be a vastly different product.

Yes.
Yes I did. I could totally sense the whole game is fucked regardless because it feels that it was designed by a linuxhead who really doesn't seem to understand the concept of "pacing".
The main game isn't unplayable, Only cyberspace feels like a complete headache. What that webm isn't showing is how interacting with the world is a headache, interacting with your menus is a headache, switching weapons is a headache, knowing what your shit even does is a headache.
Also one other big problem SHOWN in that webm is how enemies mostly do nothing because they have to account for you going to the headache to switch from explore mode to combat mode.
Enhanced edition does alleviate the problems, but at its core the game is a headache, one that I doubt it's worth taking.

Can you not see how setting up a gorillion keybindings to do the most basic tasks is a headache?
Why do I need to go through 3 layers of menus, Settings, not for advanced tasks but just so I can interact with the game seamlessly?
Better yet, why does no other game has this problem? Before or after? Like, at it's core System Shock isn't doing anything that System Shock 2 didn't do, easier and better. It doesn't do anything special, at its heart the problem is that the core gameplay itself is poorly optimized.

honestly the menuing and UI works better in EE than in the remake demo that i played, everything is just there and you can click shit instantly meanwhile the modern menu is opening a menu that takes 0.5sec to open every time you wanna do anything.. plus in the classic everything has a keybind so its not like you have to click anything if u dont want >enemies mostly do nothing because they have to account for you going to the headache to switch from explore mode to combat mode.
wrong lol the enemies basically react instantly so if you get caught out you're taking dmg, which is why most of the time i was sneaking around corners and trying to get cheeky shots around corner where the enemies can't return fire

Not this shit "Why does it have to have animations?" argument again.
I could understand that for a game in which you constantly go in and out of the menu, but the remake has pretty alleviated that.
Complaining about animations in a modern game, over artificial and soulless menu opening, is like the biggest nostalgiagoggle shit ever.

where did I mention anything about animations? this is about menus being unresponsive because they are done following modern conventions where each menu has to load in more 3d assets than useful information, you were complaining the menus are a headache in a game where all the information to you is available at a glance and with no pause due to loading in 3d glitter shit, having a menu be unresponsive is a "headache"
Just go with EE anyway. It takes a bit to adjust but you’ll get the swing of things sooner than you think.
Despite the obtuseness, it’s still a remarkable game that has a ton of cool shit to appreciate. If the remake can at least recapture that enormous freedom with 2’s controls and UI, then mission accomplished. Demo is good gameplay wise but the visuals dont convince me

Sooo, about SS1, should I play the EE or the original. I don't care for how "dated" the game is or convoluted menus or whatever, I'm open to everything.
EE is literally just the original but with better controls and supports more resolutions and shit. There is zero point to playing Classic aside from contrarianism, you miss absolutely nothing by playing EE.
As someone who has played Classic DOS SS1, SS1EE, Classic DOS Daggerfall and Daggerfall Unity all from start to finish over the years: yes, that is an accurate comparison.
You can play original if you care about "developer intended" but eh, even in EE the control scheme takes some getting used to so no need to make it harder for yourself your first time. Leave that for the 2nd run if you're really curious. Or maybe if you are used to Ultima Underworld and want to play like that again its similar, kinda.
Bad thing about EE is the port has some shaky performance though it still beats Dosbox. And I dislike the Mac portraits so I enable dos faces in the settings
That's the problem with so many remakes. Why pay so much for them if you can just play the original. I don't get why so many people want them. If it released in an old console that not so many people have, or the game is difficult to obtain, sure. But that's normally not the case.
So many delays and scrappings of the project I hope it turns out okay. The demo was cool though I only played the original version of it.

no date yet but at least they’re showing some promising stuff like the fully remade fmvs.
theyve shown footage of ss2 ee?
Recently
i dont get it lol
it looks exactly the same as my ss2 which has couple hd graphics mods
I dont remember there being a mod that completely reworks the FMVs
Not sure what you expected. Before the source port SS1 enhanced edition was just the regular SS1 with some mods baked in.
