PW was disappointing but somehow still better than MGSV
PW is literally the most underrated game and one of the best MG games to date. Also the true MGS5 title it was always meant to be.

I replayed PW just weeks before TPP dropped, and it BTFO V in every conceivable manner.
Yet it's far more SOUL-full and engaging than the empty rigs with giga-long bridges between structures in V. It even has more interactive "places" to visit, like the Killing Floor.
It's a PSP game, on a real console it would have been the best MGS game made.

I've played it for 100+ hours, psp version emulated on a phone, with a controller.
I did everything in this game except for getting all the AI modules to improve ZEKE, it's way to many parts and it got boring.
i just got a new really good phone, what did you use to emulate?
ppsspp is pretty much perfect, get one of those plastic controller clips to attach your phone on and youre good to go. also you can play multiplayer on hunsterverse but i havent tried this game online yet, the monster hunters work fine though

my only gripe with this otherwise flawless game is how you dont really know which missions have hidden schematics and rewards. i dont want to fucking s-rank everything its tedious and pointless

did modders ever like rig up a dual analog system for an emulator to make this playable? i have a ps3 but it sucks and i seem to recall the PSP version had some stuff that didn't make it to the HD version.

I fully completed it on RPCS3 on Ryzen 3600 with perfect performance in 2019.
There's just one setting you need to enable

Also I tried MGS3HD last week, and the performance really did improve since the last time I tried.
In the location where you meet Sokolov and Ocelot for the first time, the framerate used to go down to 45 fps on certain angle. Now it's solid, but I didn't test beyond that.
Another alternative is Xenia, which also runs very well. It is less demanding on CPU, but it's really demanding on GPU if you want to play at higher resolutions. My 2070S is just enough for 1440p, but then again, the videos are broken at higher resolutions.

I will literally replay the entire series over and over again EXCEPT Peace Walker. As a video GAME, it’s terrible. The comic style cutscenes are cool. But it was heavily limited by the PSP’s hardware.
you have to really enjoy the concept of MGS as a 'gameplay loop' to like Peace Walker, kind of like how you have to really enjoy ARPGs as a concept to sink thousands of hours into something like grinding Diablo 2.
also in retrospect i am glad that Konami hasn't tried to make a looter shooter Destiny clone with MGS. (yet)

RPCS3 runs great on my Ryzen 3600. Didn't try it on Xenia. No reason for me to bother with PPSSPP.
