Microsoft bans Notch from Minecraft anniversary events due to “comments and opinions” Twitter bluehairs and corporate interests sitting in a tree...
As Minecraft celebrates its 10th anniversary, Microsoft has announced that the game’s creator, Markus Persson (Notch), will not be able to take part in the events, and it’s all due to his “comments and opinions” on Twitter. “His comments and opinions do not reflect those of Microsoft or Mojang and are nor representative of Minecraft,” said a Microsoft spokesperson to Variety, which broke the news this week. The spokesperson was also keen to inform the publication that Notch hasn’t been involved with Minecraft since he sold the studio and rights to the game in 2014. Notch hasn’t been one to back down from having an opinion, and it’s earned him…

When a Minecraft feud turns into an IRL bomb scare The hoax emails claim a link to VeltPvP, a company which runs Minecraft servers - but the company says it is being framed.
As first reported by Sky News, a rivalry between Minecraft players lies behind 24,000 threatening emails sent to schools and colleges across the UK. The emails claimed that a student with a bomb had been sent into the recipient’s school and that, if a payment is not made, the device will be blown up. In Hertfordshire, seven schools received threats with one evacuating. The Hull Daily Mail says over 20 schools acrioss Hull and North Lincolnshire were affected. The…

After all, Minecraft is somewhat behind the curve in allowing its community creators to profit from their work. James Delaney runs Blockworks, a…

Are your kids experimenting with Minecraft sex? YouTube is brimming with videos of Minecraft sex targeted to kids.
I have two young cousins, and whenever they’re not playing Minecraft, they’re watching Minecraft videos on YouTube. Many kids spend all day sifting through videos of low quality Minecraft content, making it a big business for many YouTubers. But as with all things on the site, there’s a seedy underbelly to an otherwise harmless activity. In this case it’s the copious amounts of Minecraft sex videos floating around YouTube, which many kids are clicking on. Like the Spiderman and Elsa videos I’ve written about before, these videos are often so nonsensical, no adult could ever derive pleasure from them. But they use sexual thumbnail images to get clicks from kids. Some…
