Fucking around oblivion or what some theories say he is the new patron deity of the Thalmor, who is in fact surviving Ayleid cultists like umbacano who were betrayed by meridia once she "freed" herself from the deal with Umaril, and he got this thanks to Dyus who knows how to leave his prison at any time, and gave them the knowledge to subdue summerset, destroy the Crystal Law Tower and is Transparent Law so none of the 2e shenanigans repeats, purged the frogs, and is ordering the aldmeri dominion to wipe out any mentions of Tiber Septim because he still wants to erase lorkhan, and their master plan is give The Daedric Prince of Order the Body of the Brass Tower, which will be the plot of TES6 at illiac bay.

I entered SI as the baddest Daedra killer in the history of Nirn. The second I came in contact with Sheo I figured I had found my crown garden gnomeel and attacked.
It did not go well and I felt that act of hubris was a fitting end and stopped playing.
So tell me lore master how did that CoC become Sheo. If you are as certain as you sound it should be an easy task .
My guess is you will say events in unmodded officially licensed DLC are not canon. Bold move claiming games are no longer canon according to you.

That's just your head canon. It's like saying you aren't the dragonborn in Skyrim because you didn't kill any dragons because your character is a dragonfucker and wanted to have sex with them instead.

If you are looking for word of god this is what happened canon TES is the wrong series for you. They use the Schroedingers cat method of canon. Until they say what happened everything happened.

It's a single player game. The player character is the only protagonist. There's only one CoC, it's not multiple people.

If the one personally chosen by the emperor in his prophetic vision dies to a rat then the events of the game do not occur. Simple as that

The Septim line was ended. Dagon brought change to the Empire. He had no intentions of destroying Tamriel, he knew he couldn't as his invasion was already prophesied. What he wanted was havoc and to end or change the Empire. It was his goal in Arena and Battlespire too, to fuck over the Empire.

but he won because through these events he toppled a dynasty and forced massive change to tamriel. the events of the oblivion crisis lead to civil unrest in cyrodiil and eventually the great war with the dominion due to the weakened state of the empire.

No. Aedra made Mundus and Daedra didn't, that's not being contested. The argument is that Mundus itself is fundamentally no different from Oblivion, Aedra and Daedra are all just et'Ada who happened to create different shit and the distinction means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Mantling, as the main character does with Sheogorath, is you taking on the guise of an entity and acting as it. Jyggylag says you will "grow" into the position because, by acting as Sheogorath, you act like -that- Sheogorath while becoming -the- Sheogorath. You are both -a- Sheogorath, but -that- Sheogorath became Jyggylag.

It's really not hard to understand. You become Sheogarath by imitating him until the universe itself doesn't distinguish between the two of you anymore. The universe in TES is a sentient entity unto itself.

Yes, most of them at least. The exception being Talos, who is usually counted among the aedra despite being theologically closer to a daedra, and also some fucked up human-ascendant amalgam that got retconned into reality rather than a proper creator god.

"sacrificed" is a loaded word, some probably got conned while others were ok with the consequences. Depends on who you ask.

      Anonymous

Sort of. They were all et'Ada, and the defining thing about the aedra *is* that they sacrificed themselves for/got duped into making Mundus, but even before that point they were largely divided along Anuic/Padomaic lines. The Aedra were descended from Anu (stasis, order) and the Daedra from Padomay (change, chaos).
Lorkhan is Padomaic and the whole thing was his idea, but he's not usually counted as an Aedra/one of the Nine Divines the Empire worship, though he is worshipped by a bunch of pre-Imperial religions.

If it changes, then it must be padomaic, even if only a little bit. All the et'ada were born from the flow between padomay and anu, they are all on a gradient between the two.

And yet the Magne ge are explicitly stated to be purely Anuic, and yet they changed their minds on helping with existence. If you want to get into Kirkbride's out of game texts, they're all associated with fleeting and temporary things, including yes, even belching. Meridia is the one that's associated with life, which is fleeting, short, and constantly changing.

They are fascinated by certain aspects of creation and are drawn to it. Some are vain, some are sympathetic to mortals, some want things Mundus has. The dragonborn is literally the will of Lorkhan and Akatosh, Lorkhan for giving hope for Men and Mer and being his avatar on mundus, and Akatosh for uniting the Dov back to their original purpose without alduin who became corrupted by his own instincts and greed, and inherit his soul and blesing.
Paarthunax is literally the will of Kyne, not only for him growing fondly of men but also for serving the will of the divines after all these years and overcoming his own instincts, even ol naarf spoke with him and this possibly led to his decision to serve Tiber Septim once the empire was born.

Sotha wanted to perfect Tamriel with his Clock Work city, didn't succeed and birthed a "daughter" Memory to help finish it in his stead. You can see him pregnant with her in this picture with Almalexia in full war gear ready to protect him.

this is one of the hemaphrodite and chud trips MK regrets and dismisses along with pelinal being gay.
the fact that he was heavily involved with ESO Morrowind, Summerset and Clockwork DLC's to fix this issue kinda shows that he has influence at bethesda.

direnni tower is ok as maybe the culmination of the greater conflict.
but the greater conflict should be the final man-mer war. the culmination of the thalmor's plans. it should show skyrim having broken free from the empire, in an alliance with hammerfell and maybe the both of them in talks with the empire for a temporary alliance as dominion aggression ramps up.

they lack access to any other way to end reality.
having them just become some secret daedric cult would be boring and defeat the whole purpose of their goal.

the only other non-boring route would be for them to try to take the direnni tower so that they can try to dance atop it like the marukhati selective in an attempt to use tonal magic to destabilize the code of reality enough to break it and cause the godhead to awaken, ending all reality.

Mainly the latter. The series itself approves of endless fanfiction and fan-defined truth. Most of the interesting stuff in the lore comes from the massive lore gaps in the game, where people try to connect the dots with weird shit and create a weird narrative. Bethesda hates the idea of alienating the dumber portion of their fanbase, everything has to be simple or the dummy might get scared and confused. They'll never put any genuinely cool shit in, they just leave room for it in the lore and don't refute players that say the cool shit is actually there.

No, I said there were 6 timeloops, where the empire was radically different. In 1 timeline the empire was a space faring empire that sent a Terminator. In another it was an imperial. In the oblivion setting it allows pelinel to be anything.

      [...]
why cant he be both at the same time?

Because sheogorath wasn't mantled (because that isn't how mantling works) and the entire greymarch event only started after the Player activated xedillian, the machine that changes an adventures perception of reality.

but you don't become pelinal in knights of the nine, pelinal, a clearly seperate guy cooms to you as a ghost and essentially tells you to just finish this one job for him and then fuck off
      and then you do
and then in shivering isles you literally canonically become sheogorath
at no point do you become pelinal

The shivering isles is a demonic dimension of smoke and mirrors where everybody is a delusional schizo. Are you seriously arguing that everything that happened in there was real? Nobody leaves the shivering isles sane. Sheogorath lied to you the entire time. What proof do you have that Sheo told the truth. What proof do you have the Player became sheo besides a change weather spell

The pelinel you meet in the dlc is definitely not you, but you travel back in time and become the next pelinel. That's canon.

You never become sheogorath. The entire greymarch story only occurs after this quest
        https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Shivering:A_Better_Mousetrap
        https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Shivering:Baiting_the_Trap
By activating the xedillian you essentially drug yourself and sheo let's you pretend you're a god.

And what happens when you "become the prince of madness"?
        >A randomly change weather spell you can only activate once a day(which could also just make you think it's raining in your mind)
You can still be arrested by the golden saints and dark seducers lmao

You aren't sheogorath. You never mantled sheo. You never will mantl him. And that throwaway line in Skyrim by the real sheogorath about knowing Martin? We already know Martin was a daedra worshipers and spoke with multiple different daedra before the oblivion crises happened. The context didn't refer to the player's relationship with Martin.

Just accept you got duped by the god of trickery and madness and move on.

                >The idea that the player in oblivion becomes sheogorath is fucking retarded and wrong
It's LITERALLY THE PLOT OF THE DLC. It's what the entire fucking plot of that narrative was leading to, it's what explicitly says happened, and skyrim heavily hints that this did actually occur and was not just some schizo way of driving the CoC insane.
                >And the knights of the nine best you over the head that you're the ONLY person who could be as close to pelinel as possible.
This in no way contradicts the CoC becoming Sheogorath. Pelinal Whitestrake was a Shezzarine. Do you know what all Shezzarine have in common? THEY'RE ALL BUTTFUCK INSANE.

Ok so can you post an official quote that says the Point of the dlc is to become the prince of madness?

                >skyrim heavily hints that this did actually occur
Sheogorath in Skyrim mentions he witnessed the events but all daedra were witnessing a Kaiju fight between a daedric prince and a divine god.

If the coc is sent back in time then their involvement with the future is gone. They aren't split into 2 people, one being pelinel and the other being sheogorath.
However it's truth that pelinel is mad, he frequently went into berserk mode and wouldn't stop unless the 8 divines intervened.
There's a passage in the songs of pelinel where it's disputed whether pelinel is a shezarine, neither confirming or denying it. Which makes it interesting.

But being sheogorath? Why doesn't anyone trust a god of insanity.

                >Ok so can you post an official quote that says the Point of the dlc is to become the prince of madness?
"Enough! I am beaten. The Greymarch is ended. For millennia this drama has unfolded, and each time, I have conquered this land, only to be transformed back into that gibbering fool, Sheogorath. It was not always so. Once, I ruled this Realm, a world of perfect Order. My dominion expanded across the seas of Oblivion with each passing era. The other Princes, fearful of my power, cursed me with Madness, doomed me to live as Sheogorath, a broken soul reigning in a broken land. Once each era, I was allowed my true form, conquering this world anew. And each time I did, the curse was renewed, damning me to exist as Sheogorath. Now, though, you have ended the cycle. You now hold the mantle of madness, and Jyggalag is free to roam the voids of Oblivion once more. I will take my leave, and you will remain here, mortal. Mortal...? King? God? It seems uncertain. This Realm is yours. Perhaps you will grow to your station. Fare thee well, Sheogorath, Prince of Madness."
                >Sheogorath in Skyrim mentions he witnessed the events but all daedra were witnessing a Kaiju fight between a daedric prince and a divine god.
He also mentions things that daedra in general wouldn't know about, like the passing of the mantle of the grey fox, Mathieu Bellamont's mother's severed head, and most importantly, "butterflies", both what the CoC saw when they first entered the shivering isles.
                >If the coc is sent back in time
The CoC did not time travel. You aren't the pelinal whitestrake from the future, he's literally an android. Pelinal was created in the future, came back in time, and you mantled him, and then later became Sheogorath.
                >There's a passage in the songs of pelinel where it's disputed whether pelinel is a shezarine, neither confirming or denying it.

You showed up part way into this thread.

There have been 4 seperate pelinel whitestrakes.
The pelinel in the books was referred to as pelinel the third, for he was the third reincarnation.
In 1 timeline the empire was a space faring science fiction empire, and they sent a Terminator.
There pelinel we saw in oblivion was definitely not an android, but the third pelinel who was an imperial.
The fourth pelinel is the coc who can be a khajiit for all we know.

Mantling just didn't happen. You have nothing to prove mantling happened. You didn't grow into the prince of madness, how can you trust jygalag or the prince of madness?

                >how can you trust jygalag or the prince of madness?
Because the Prince of Madness ceases to fucking exist when he transforms into Jyggalag, who has no reason to play tricks seeing as he is about order, then you whip his ass so badly he becomes his own deity again and then you fill the vacuum of Prince of Madness, which Jyggalag FUCKING TELLS YOU, therefore mantling Sheogorath, not to mention the entire DLC was grooming you into acting and thinking like Sheogorath.

First of all, yes he is, at least some of his work. But more importantly, none of his work outside the games does anything to suggest the CoC can't or didn't mantle sheogorath. Quite the opposite, in fact, since most of what we know about Shezzarine comes from his out-of-game works, and they paint shezzarines as being ideal candidates to mantle sheogorath.

Except the Sheogorath of Skyrim makes explicit references to the concept of divine manteling and obscure details in Oblivion that wouldn't make sense if he wasn't the CoC since obviously the last dragonborn wouldn't know about them so it couldn't be to fuck with them. No, you were filling in for a low level torturing position. Sheogorath made a giant pit and filled it with clowns/clouds to stop the greymarch. You were hardly groomed into being sheogorath by slaying knights

You were however, cleansed of all sin by going on the pilgrimage of pelinel, completing various tasks to prove your worth as pelinels heir, became the first to don pelinels armor and fulfill his unfinished duty.
And what's that? A book? That describes pelinel was a time traveling adventurer? And that Martin became the god of time?

The most specific references would be the blood of Tiber Septim retrieved from Sancre Tor, severed head of Mathieu Bellamont's mother, encountered towards the tail end of the Dark Brotherhood questline in Oblivion. the neravarine is canonically also the hero of kvatch who is also canonically sheogorath
this must be the case because otherwise the player in skyrim wouldn't be able to acquire
    >the mace of molag baal
    >the ring of khajiiti
    >the star of azura
he had to have left those behind otherwise they'd be unobtainable
