As far as I know the character was always introduced because of the relationship between Sakai and Laird/Eastman, plus Wolf was taunting the posibility of do a Usagi show and that allowed the chara to be part of original toyline/cartoon. Since them is just a cameo and now a new apparition should be licensed, since we are getting a whole new show based on the character.

Usagi's role in his appearances is pretty consistent, a samurai anthropomorphic animal that's not used to skulking in shadows since he belongs to a world where anthros are the norm. He's there to serve as a contrast to the turtles, as well as provide them an experienced big brother figure.

Correct. There were two events (and their own solo mini which fricking tanked) that centered on them hard and it really hurt the book. They were starting to bounce back but IDW pulled the plug. Also It kind of felt like they were getting to into the crossovers. The first TMNT one was alright but then they did another and fricking Transformers and it was just harder to get any focus on the main book.

hitboxes feel more inconsistent than any other belt-scroller, and the tracking only makes them worse. still having severe input problems too; grabs suck enough as is, but the timing window for directional grabs is so fricked i just wind up standing around like a jackass half the time i try to throw someone
also wish there was a time limit so that there was a reason for you to not just taunt after every screen clear.
aesthetics of the game are still fantastic, they did a good job in regards to those and just fanservice in general, but the gameplay itself is just so off-putting to me.

You might not know this but the game has a suspend save feature
basically if you quit to title or close the game, go back to arcade and select the exact same players, characters and difficulty, you get a popup that says "you have a suspended game with these characters, do you wish to continue" and if you do it puts you back at the last screen you were at.
you could use this to savescum a segment if you're doing badly, but I think it only works once per screen. Lost a decent playthrough to that, although that might've been me fricking up setting the difficulty again.

That's not how English works.
I never bought them because I'm not a huge fan of Rise, but I agree. I didn't mind the designs of the Turtles themselves and the figures of them actually looked pretty good
The 87 cartoon and 90 movie ones are from NECA. They've done multiple versions of the 87 cartoon ones, the ones I have match the show's intro, they have ones that are painted to match the promo material, and they also have ones with more cartoon accurate heads, etc. However tracking them down is a b***h and a half.
The key is to be patient. If you get too greedy you're gonna get hit. When they're about to drive around make sure you move back, but stay on the line in the road. Then move up and get a free taunt super or two.
Also I don't recommend using the dodge roll in that fight as for some reason it mostly moves into the car for me even if I hold the opposite direction.
Yeah, that's some sorta bug in the autoscroller stages. You gotta just let go of a direction before dodging, since otherwise holding back + dodge makes you dodge forward for some inexplicable reason.

Dodging rolls you towards the opposite direction you're facing. If your dodge is rollng into the boss then you're facing away from it.
That's how it works, yes, but you can also hold a direction to roll that way. However, that "hold a direction" thing works a bit backwards on the autoscroller stages.

I just tested it. It seems there's a short "turnaround" animation when facing from one direction to the other that's only present in these stages. Seems to be intentional.
God, the flames on Super Shredder have such a janky hitbox. How you are you supposed to get the achievement for not getting hit on this? Just get lucky?
skill issue honestly i won't bother, it seems they patched the exploit of joining mid match and just jumping at the end to get the archivement, the boss isn't hard but dealing with the homosexual flames is too much
The book really should have ended long ago. Honestly as much as I was sad to see it end, I'm also relieved the Ghostbusters book ended when it did too. It was great for a long while, but then near the end when they started to force the 2016 team it starting dropping pretty hard. Though for what it's worth the comic did ALMOST make them feel more genuine, but it was pretty clear that the writers were getting less and less freedom. It was nice that they brought over Kylie though. She actually worked great with Pete and the others.

Yeah, the rookie and Chevy Chase were fun characters. Burnham really knew how to use the series. I'm a bit shocked we didn't get an Eddie Murphy reference. Even John Candy showed up... and now I'm sad.
That's not too uncommon for western comics. You never know how long you're really gonna have so they always try to pepper seeds for future story ideas they can work on as they go. Of course then all that gets fricked up when they change writers who have a drastically different take on what the story should be.

If you're going to play multiplayer, be it online or couch, this game is great and a lot of fun. But it was clearly designed to be played that way, so single player is a lot less fun. Still a good, respectful throwback to Turtles in Time though.
why is there such a huge leap in difficulty from Okay to Gnarly? Okay wasn't even any harder than Chill, I don't think I lost more than a life or two my first playthrough but Gnarly kicks my ass...... how do I get good?
I feel like Gnarly is very fair. It's just it actually expects you to learn enemy/boss behavior if you want to stand a chance. Even generic mooks are way more aggressive and since you take more damage you can't afford to make as many mistakes. Like the blue shield guys early on. In Okay they just sorta wander around, but in gnarly they shield check you as soon as you get close. I usually try either hitting them when they get on screen, let them block me and then roll behind, or just use a special if there's a group of them.
Also anti air into dive into anti air loop is actually hilariously good in a lot of situations. Give it a try. One situation I use it in is the Leatherhead fight since his tail attack seems to have very little windup. Just delay the dive a bit so you don't fall into another attack by accident.
If you want any specific tips feel free to ask. Though I'm not great at everything. I still can't do the Zorax fight consistently. You have a surplus of lives to work with though as you get one every 200 points.

Abuse dodge attack charging to blow through guards and smack crowds
Abuse the air special against really tough enemies
Abuse the slide attack against yellow, spear, and ball-and-chain enemies, it avoids their weapons
Play conservatively against bosses
Generally yes, but having a Splinter or Raph for boss killing is ideal. Splinter's dodge super does 15 damage (all air supers do 10, all of April's hits do 1)

Their Ghostbuster comics were also cancelled years ago and were kind of starting to go bad when they were forcing the fembusters on the team. Despite the fact that they actually already had several in the book who were actually written well and likable characters.

Correct. There were two events (and their own solo mini which fricking tanked) that centered on them hard and it really hurt the book. They were starting to bounce back but IDW pulled the plug. Also It kind of felt like they were getting to into the crossovers. The first TMNT one was alright but then they did another and fricking Transformers and it was just harder to get any focus on the main book.

hitboxes feel more inconsistent than any other belt-scroller, and the tracking only makes them worse. still having severe input problems too; grabs suck enough as is, but the timing window for directional grabs is so fricked i just wind up standing around like a jackass half the time i try to throw someone
also wish there was a time limit so that there was a reason for you to not just taunt after every screen clear.
aesthetics of the game are still fantastic, they did a good job in regards to those and just fanservice in general, but the gameplay itself is just so off-putting to me.
Should have more characters from the toy line, like the basketball playing giraffe and the fire fighting dalmation and the tribe chief elephant.

Focus Dirtbag first. When he starts digging lure him away from the path of Groundchuck until he pops back up.
Also just a general tip for everyone, but double jumping and moving along the y axis is a godly evasion tool.

you mean the one at the door of the castle? try to defeat the bison tigers without loosing to much hp but leave 1 alive and drag him to the top of the screen and throw him to the left where there is a barrel with a chicken, the game will make it jump into the boss arena and now you have a healing item for the kinfe guy, also if you are getting filtered there you won't even pass the elevator with the two gigahomie bulls
You might not know this but the game has a suspend save feature
basically if you quit to title or close the game, go back to arcade and select the exact same players, characters and difficulty, you get a popup that says "you have a suspended game with these characters, do you wish to continue" and if you do it puts you back at the last screen you were at.
you could use this to savescum a segment if you're doing badly, but I think it only works once per screen. Lost a decent playthrough to that, although that might've been me fricking up setting the difficulty again.
Is it worth going into Radical Mode against bosses? Especially since so many have limited hitboxes like Super Shredder

The 87 cartoon and 90 movie ones are from NECA. They've done multiple versions of the 87 cartoon ones, the ones I have match the show's intro, they have ones that are painted to match the promo material, and they also have ones with more cartoon accurate heads, etc. However tracking them down is a b***h and a half.
I hate the fricking car boss in stage 3.
The key is to be patient. If you get too greedy you're gonna get hit. When they're about to drive around make sure you move back, but stay on the line in the road. Then move up and get a free taunt super or two.
Also I don't recommend using the dodge roll in that fight as for some reason it mostly moves into the car for me even if I hold the opposite direction.
Yeah, that's some sorta bug in the autoscroller stages. You gotta just let go of a direction before dodging, since otherwise holding back + dodge makes you dodge forward for some inexplicable reason.
Dodging rolls you towards the opposite direction you're facing. If your dodge is rollng into the boss then you're facing away from it.
Usually it rolls me into the direction I'm holding.
That's how it works, yes, but you can also hold a direction to roll that way. However, that "hold a direction" thing works a bit backwards on the autoscroller stages.
I just tested it. It seems there's a short "turnaround" animation when facing from one direction to the other that's only present in these stages. Seems to be intentional.

skill issue honestly i won't bother, it seems they patched the exploit of joining mid match and just jumping at the end to get the archivement, the boss isn't hard but dealing with the homosexual flames is too much

The book really should have ended long ago. Honestly as much as I was sad to see it end, I'm also relieved the Ghostbusters book ended when it did too. It was great for a long while, but then near the end when they started to force the 2016 team it starting dropping pretty hard. Though for what it's worth the comic did ALMOST make them feel more genuine, but it was pretty clear that the writers were getting less and less freedom. It was nice that they brought over Kylie though. She actually worked great with Pete and the others.
I enjoyed the Ghostbusters IDW run while it lasted. Loved that the 2009 game was canon there.

That's not too uncommon for western comics. You never know how long you're really gonna have so they always try to pepper seeds for future story ideas they can work on as they go. Of course then all that gets fricked up when they change writers who have a drastically different take on what the story should be.

If you're going to play multiplayer, be it online or couch, this game is great and a lot of fun. But it was clearly designed to be played that way, so single player is a lot less fun. Still a good, respectful throwback to Turtles in Time though.
why is there such a huge leap in difficulty from Okay to Gnarly? Okay wasn't even any harder than Chill, I don't think I lost more than a life or two my first playthrough but Gnarly kicks my ass...... how do I get good?
I feel like Gnarly is very fair. It's just it actually expects you to learn enemy/boss behavior if you want to stand a chance. Even generic mooks are way more aggressive and since you take more damage you can't afford to make as many mistakes. Like the blue shield guys early on. In Okay they just sorta wander around, but in gnarly they shield check you as soon as you get close. I usually try either hitting them when they get on screen, let them block me and then roll behind, or just use a special if there's a group of them.
Also anti air into dive into anti air loop is actually hilariously good in a lot of situations. Give it a try. One situation I use it in is the Leatherhead fight since his tail attack seems to have very little windup. Just delay the dive a bit so you don't fall into another attack by accident.
If you want any specific tips feel free to ask. Though I'm not great at everything. I still can't do the Zorax fight consistently. You have a surplus of lives to work with though as you get one every 200 points.

Depends on the character, but:
Abuse dodge attack charging to blow through guards and smack crowds
Abuse the air special against really tough enemies
Abuse the slide attack against yellow, spear, and ball-and-chain enemies, it avoids their weapons
Play conservatively against bosses
Generally yes, but having a Splinter or Raph for boss killing is ideal. Splinter's dodge super does 15 damage (all air supers do 10, all of April's hits do 1)
