The anime just trashed all its nostalgia bait potential. There's nothing left.
The fact it continues to be a mediocre, milquetoast show powered purely by brand recognition speaks there's something fundamentally bad about the way showrunners make a pokémon show.
There's two types of adult viewers, the ones who hated the original anime to no end so they're attracted by this one and giving it a chance, they will leave soon enough
The other type is the autistic one, /padt/
brand loyalism and shipping autism. there's literally no other reason.
the ratings for the anime has been abysmal, close to zero in Japan since Greninja's loss
>close to zero in Japan since Greninja's loss
Yeah Alola and Galar were extreme damage control after that horrible loss that just wanted to put a bowtie on a sinking ship. It's hilarious they like to be complacent and stick to the formula until they fuck up and realize it's too late.
Story and characters are very disappointing at the moment, clearly aimed at a very young crowd. Also Roy is too loud and dumb, and Liko won't shut up about being a heroine and 'get to know ma pokemon partner'.
Art is average - artstyle is lacking detail, designs of half of the main cast are boringbad, and animation is above average (which is bad because the average has been horrible in recent years).
Battles are good-ish but also too simple, though that's expected as it's only the beginning of the series.
Directing is great and is carrying the show hard.
Soundtrack is amazing and sound design sometimes borders on ASMR.
Overall not terrible and shows potential, but not worth watching yet.
>Yes? What else did you expect?
Young children don't watch pokemon. And pokemon's target audience is majorly male, so young children are not going to watch an anime starred by a girl
>How so?
They are too archetypical. The biggest issue is Liko who turned out to be a dumb kid with no real drive to improve, as well as constantly surrendering in self-sacrifice at every opportunity she gets. While I can't say it is inconsistent with her initial character, at the beginning she seemed more independent, so I was hoping for a Pokemon Adventures-kind protagonist and story. >Yes? What else did you expect?
Expectation-wise, I didn't expect much. But I was hoping for a more adolescent series, or at least some bread crumbs of non-toddler themes.
>They are too archetypical.
You're watching a tv commercial for kids. >Liko who turned out to be a dumb kid with no real drive to improve
She literally trained last episode. > Pokemon Adventures-kind protagonist and story
I'm a pokespefag and pokespe itself is very cookie-cutter. Its only, well, special, compared to the usual terrible storytelling the franchise has, but if you go there, so is horizns.
>I was hoping for a more adolescent series
Aside from the fact you literally said you hoped it to be like another kodomo manga, it was retarded to ever expect the product that would replace the literal ashnime to be aimed at a different audience. That sounds more like your issue than the show's.
I don't know man, If you make a boring show you don't get to point at the audience it's their fault they don't like boring shows. There's better kodomo to watch than this.

The show being boring for someone who's not the target audience doesn't make it actually boring.
Now, you can criticize the show, but criticizing for not doing something its not really set up to do is retarded. And most criticism its getting, assuming they're in good faith, is that.
>You're watching a tv commercial for kids.
I am. Lot's of shows like that get to have good stories and characters. >She literally trained last episode.
Said improvement was laughable. She was more competent in episode 1, and seemed to regress for the last couple of episodes. But I guess I'm being too harsh on what seems to be the beginning for a long running show. >Aside from the fact you literally said you hoped it to be like another kodomo manga
Pokespe is for young teens, and that let's it tell a LOT more interesting stories than a show for 6 years olds. >That sounds more like your issue than the show's.
If you watch a show that wasn't tailor made for you, it doesn't disqualify your criticism. The only thing it means is that whoever made the show will probably not care about your opinion.
I am going to complain on online forums until I am satisfied.
>I am. Lot's of shows like that get to have good stories and characters.
And you're not saying why this ones fails at that. >Said improvement was laughable.
Well, follow your own advice about not being harsh on the beggining. Of course she'll learn basic shit when she's starting. Not to mention she wasn't really that competent, she always spammed Leafage. >Pokespe is for young teens
Not really.
>If you watch a show that wasn't tailor made for you, it doesn't disqualify your criticism.
It doesn't. But if the criticism IS "its not tailor made for me" then that criticism is retarded. And that's your "criticism".

Is this really a screenshot of the anime? Looks like fanart.
>Looks like fanart.
It is.
You can download the episode and see that exact frame for yourself.
Not wasting precious hard drive space on this trash.
You can always export your porn files into a separate drive
How do you know is trash if you havent seen it?
Oh, right, you're a coping ashfag.
You can watch it online you retard
So you can check the frame anyways?
Why check it when OP posted it?
Read the conversation.
You first
Done. Your turn.
Done. Now do it again
Nah, I already did so once and it seems I'm correct, it was about checking the frame. Poi
Yep and OP posted the frame
And then someone said to check it for himself.
No, I can read.
If you can then you'd be answering the question instead of shifting.
looks like low budget screen testing
legit why do people like the anime? it's not even funny nor serious like digimon, yokai watch or doraemon and it's so low quality.
severe nostalgia to the point of their standards being entirely neutered
The anime just trashed all its nostalgia bait potential. There's nothing left.

So an improvement then.

>ratings
This is TVtokyo, who doesn't give a shit about ratings to begin with.
Little boys/girls
that's why they like the anime
>it's not even funny or serious like yokai watch
ok
digimon doesn't have PIKACHUUUU and CHARIZAAAAARD
It is funny.
Its a show for kids so it doesn't really have to be serious.
That was the ashnime if anything.
The show is really bad at comedy though
Making cute anime faces isn't funny, writing jokes is
>The show is really bad at comedy though
And?
Also, its japanese, japanese comedy is bad in general, so I'm not sure how you expected otherwise here.

That's not even a reply to what was asked.

Wow, you are retarded
