TF2

>muh random crits
Random spread is so much worse it's not even funny.
>hurr durr your shotgun bullets go off to the side and you do 6 damage total
The ONLY reason explosive damage and snipers feel OP in TF2 is because scout's, engi's, and heavy's weapons are all affected by a bullshit mechanic that has no reason to be in the game.

Why do tf2bers whine so much about random crits when random spread is so much worse?

because your average tf2bers (especially ones like Dane) are pretty much wannabe esports gays but didn't have the skill for it so they leeched off tf2, its why they seethe about shit that makes it impossible for a comp game while ignoring other shit as well since at the end of the day they don't really care

I think there's also the factor that random crits allow pablo.gonzalez2004 to kill them easier, and end their pubstomping 20 killstreak. Random spread is just annoying for everyone but not obvious in the same way.

Don't understand this obsession with making tf2 some hyper competitive ultra-fixed shooter, the appeal has always been it's randomness, at some level. Gamers will optimize the fun out of their game, proven time and time again

it honestly amazes me how people take Dane seriously despite him unironically claiming the competitive update would be the thing that will revitalize tf2, only for the exact opposite to happen and it being the start of all the problems that now plague the game

        >claiming the competitive update would be the thing that will revitalize tf2
It did, for a single day. Made me reinstall TF2 after not playing since the fricking atrocious F2P update and I spent the entire day trying to play a single match. Shit was impossible, the servers were constantly crashing, I remember seeing everyone complain. I gave up and haven't touched the game since then

Zoomers maximizing the fun out of FPSs has been the single biggest tragedy of the genre. If you homosexuals can't account for a variable in your cheat engines then it's not competitive enough for you. Unpredictability in controlled metrics is a good thing for games. I'm glad Valve doesn't listen to you.

Yes I fricking love when the CPU backseats my games for me
Oh shit, am I having a fun skirmish against another player? Never mind, the game decided to instantly end it by rolling the dice

If you put yourself on a situation where a game is won or lost by an unlucky spray on crit then your bad decision making and poor play leading up to that to moment killed you, not the bullet. Play slop more your speed.

Cool post, but how do I make it so that I don't instantly kill a random opponent that crosses my path? I want to have fun interacting with my opponents, not instantly delete them because I rolled the game against my own will

While we're acting like we're capable of designing and balancing a game, remove Sniper

Just add active machina lasers when charging sniper shots, and make charges manual like TF Classic.

      that's it

Now people can actively play against Sniper without getting deleted the moment they unwittingly walked into his sightline, and sniper can still do his epic leddit quickscopes for his montage without revealing his position unless necessary.

why is he crying about random crits anyway? I stopped playing TF2 in 2012 but used to play on this one server that always run vote at start of the map giving everyone choice if they want it activated or not
can't he just host his own servers with crits turned off?

because he wants every TF2 lobbies to be casual tryhard and shit. Went on Uncletopia and damn people were tryharding as shit there's no fun just mucking about because I got kicked. So fricking glad Valve didn't listen to his shit.

Random crits often don't make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. Good players will get more crits, but they didn't really need them to begin with. Bad players may get crits sometimes, but they hardly kill with them and, even if they do, they were playing poorly. An odd kill here or there from the bottom scoring players won't make a difference. Besides, they're funny.

Removing random crits AND bullet spread makes scout a must pick class now which is why community servers like uncletopia feel even sweatier than usual not just their fetish for payload maps.

Panic Attack also becomes worthless when spread is turned off when its the entire benefit of using that gun. Comp players hate making a choose between weapons for scenarios i guess,.

Good. You must've never landed 2 pipes on a scout just for them to kill you with 2hp left.

random damage spread was stupid anyway
        >pipe a heavy 4 fricking times, he's still alive
        >meatshot a demo twice and he lives
        >bodyshot a medic and it's a 50-50 whether he dies to it
        >melee a spy twice and the bastard lives
        >melee a spy once and he dies on the spot
random damage spread is like random crits but subtle enough that no one really noticed it unless it altered breakpoints. Most of the time it would result in people inexplicably surviving what should've been a lethal attack. In the grand scheme of things it evened out mathematically, but it just really sucked ass when it lowrolled.

the vita-saw in their format was an unfun weapon. if one medic used it, you were obligated to use it to compete because ubercharge advantage is just that important to dictate the pace of a match.
in pubs it didn't matter. And while it's definitely a more interesting weapon now (by interesting I mean it requires you to actually use it instead of equip and forget about), it's use rate is even MORE niche because depending on landing a melee hit as medic is asinine.
It's not unreasonable to agree with the idea, but disagree with the execution that Valve went with.
If it did something nutty like only spend 1 organ for the effect instead of spending all of them for the effect, it'd see some use in pubs in its current form. Competing with the Ubersaw is a tall order for any of the medic's options, it's just that good.
