>zero good movies too
You brainlets are missing the point, Disney has already made back the money they spent on Star Wars from merch sales since the purchase alone.
Everything else has been pure profit.
>Disney has already made back the money they spent on Star Wars from merch sales
Don't Star Wars toys sell like shit nowadays? Unless you're talking about some other kind of merch?
Toys, clothing, branded crap (keychains, stickers, notebooks etc) - Star Wars makes over $2bn a year on merch alone.
>You brainlets are missing the point, Disney has already made back the money they spent on Star Wars from merch sales since the purchase alone.
I've had to many arguments about this but they can't move the merchandise. No one cares about their shitty new characters and the stories don't engage with new audiences. They spent $2 billion modifying their park for no one to come, and they're chasing an uphill battle for their initial investment with movies that had a constantly dropping audience. Now they're fricked. They've slaughtered the golden goose and even if they've broken even (they haven't) the future for Star Wars looks uninspired at best. Dead franchise that is going to be kept on life support.
You could just look it up instead of being fooled by stocked shelves, dollar bins and hearsay.
Better yet you could try not being moronic.
The Hasbro sales trends indicate a peak in 2015 based off Force Awakens then a slow decline and they're actually selling less Star Wars toys now than they were between Revenge of the Sith and Force Awakens. Even the peaks generated by film releases weren't as high as the peaks experienced during that period.

The 00s Star Wars games were so fricking good bro. For me it was >Battlefront 2004 >Jedi Academy >Phantom Menace PS1 >Jedi Power Battles GBA >Clone Wars >Revenge of the Sith on DS
I want to go back
>none of the games that were supposed to get sequels, i.e. starfighter, kotor, RC, battlefront, rogue squadron, would ever go on to get them
It was a good time, but it wasn't a fair time.
I think he means the sequels they were supposed to get after the sequels they got. KOTOR 3, BF3, and Rouge Squadron 4 were all supposed to happen before the buyout.
I was going to just leave it at that but I figured shitheads would jump all over me because of the prequels. You know what, frick em. I liked the prequels.
I'd take the prequel days over anything else thats popped out the last 15 years. They gave us cool designs for aliens, troops, ships, characters, Genndy Wars, new games, comics and books. What was the worst fricking thing you had to worry about then? That Luke would become Space Jesus in a new EU book? That TFU wouldn't get a sequel? It wasn't the Disney hell we have now.
>What was the worst fricking thing you had to worry about then? That Luke would become Space Jesus in a new EU book? That TFU wouldn't get a sequel? It wasn't the Disney hell we have now.
Preach brother. I still find it hilarious that people shit on the EU for all those years but it's still miles better than anything Disney has given us. Even fricking Kevin J Anderson's books shit all over Disney's efforts and that's saying something.
greed, its clear disney/lf doesn't want to share the rights with other companies they don't own. ATM, Disney would rather lose out on failing multimedia projects and theme parks than focus on videos games, yet games like Swtor are making them monkey, just barely.
battlefront 2 was a good game (after like 2 years of updates)
They had to update the game because of TLJ backlash, after TROS flopped they EoS'ed the game because it didn't attract nor retained the player base.
as soon as I heard the campaign was a typical rebel circlejerk I lost interest
we can't get one good campaign from the empire side in star wars games, shit sucks
It's old as shit but Tie Fighter (1994) you play Imperial the whole game. Battlefront 2 (2005) as well pretty much. There's also the RTS's that have Imperial campaigns. That's about it though.
I had a whole thing typed up but does anyone else think he’s like professor falken in war games he’s a billionaire but seems to have a certain spiritual malaise I mean he’s a miserable prick
It's all about profit. They don't give a shit if they run a franchise into the ground as long as they make money off of it (which they did with Marvel and SW to a lesser extent)
It started off okay but I had to force myself to finish that game it got so goddamn monotonous. Most of the characters sucked too and I didn't give a shit about any of them.
Disney Wars has been mostly awful but it has had some bright spots >Rogue One >mandalorian >jedi fallen order >battlefront 2 is okay despite its awful start >some of the books and comics
>Rogue One
Bootleg Dark forces with a white washed Jan Ors. All while making the empire and rebels look dumb. >mandalorian
The show doubles down on the nu-lore, which people are staring to notice in the obi-wan show. If Disney were honestly brining star wars back, The Truce of Bakura should've been made. >Jedi fallen order
Very overrated stuff, with tons of issues in which people will get screwed because the story will lead to nothing. The game is tailored to tcw/rebels fans, because force powers are really "down to earth". >some of the books and comics
All of them reinforces the retcons and bashes legacy characters. Some like Brotherhood is a inferior version of Labyrinth of Evil. In fact one of them outright states jyn erso was more important than Luke or a lesbian beating vader.
>Rogue One
Passable at best >mandalorian
1st season only S2 was barely tolerable >jedi fallen order
Started off strong but ran out of steam quick >battlefront 2 is okay despite its awful start
It's still awful its just less awful than it was at launch >some of the books and comics
Like fricking what? The Vader comic and Lost Stars? That's fricking it.
The EA Battlefront games, Squadrons, and Fallen Order are all good games. But yes, only 4 games in a decade, one decent movie, and one decent show are pretty fricking sad and unacceptable. And don't even get me started on how there have been zero decent books or comics. Disney has butchered Star Wars, there's genuinely nothing left to like or care about.
>The EA Battlefront games
Even ignoring the microtransaction bullshit they were still shitty meatgrinders and pale in comparison to the Pandemic Studios games.
Michael tried to prevent this, he had plans to Disney, Warner, Universal and Marvel and steal it from the nose tribe. But they killed him & slandered him before it could happen
I will never be able to understand how do you run into the ground a guaranteed money-making franchise like SW.
Are they doing it on purpose? Is the real investment to destroy the franchise for obscure reasons I'm too much of a pleb to understand? I don't get it man.
People handling it completely disconnected from it and not giving a frick. Also design-by-committee shit that was at the peak of popularity back then, there was zero artistic or visionary input during production, just going through checklist of what suits said would make money. It never makes money.

Severe mismanagement from the top really. Who the frick thought not having a solid plot for the entire trilogy before filming made any sense, along with all the thrown out scripts that were much better sounding than we got, on top of them deciding to use a different director for each entry. Just makes absolutely no sense at all, truly impressive incompetence.
Disney somehow managed to fully book their 1k+ a night two night minimum star wars hotel despite reviews being lackluster. Pumping money into vloggers really does work out, they should do it more with their videogames and merch.
It still blows my mind that they spent billions of dollars and then just made it up as they went along for the movies. Like they didn't even sit down and do a high school outline of the main story points
I frickin love this picture >Both are kind of looking at the cameraman with a "wtf with the camera, we're doing some serious business here" >Lucas seems completely dumbfounded >Iger seems like he was nonplussed two seconds ago, but then thought to smile because he saw the potential of the picture as some promo
It must be the weirdest feeling ever making a 4bil trade
But yeah, the only notable game is the fallen order game, and I use the word notable lightly. I imagine that there are so many individual shareholder reviews each marketing idea has to go through, the chance that some dedicated nerd can make a new game dimishes each year.
I think it will happen though, don't get me wrong. I think that the great games are going to be less frequently released than they were back in the day.
>I think that the great games are going to be less frequently released than they were back in the day.
The whole industry is like this now. We're lucky if we get 2-3 good games a year now. Gaming has gotten way too fricking bloated/run by committee. Shit fricking sucks.
They didn’t know what they were buying. And George thought Kathleen would keep him in control from afar. He didn’t understand the conniving c**t was just waiting to steal something for herself. She out israeliteed him.
George had no reason to sell. If he had announced EP7-9 in 2011-2013 with new directors, his own script, the old cast with Luke getting his respectable sendoff those movies would've made billions easily. 1313 and the Darth Maul game would've done amazing. I imagine an actual KOTOR 3 would have been made by now. I still wonder if Disney more or less strongarmed him into selling, threatening to buy stocks or dirt on him that only a Hollywood circle would know about. He had his money, his IP and infinite possibilities for growth, especially when LucasArts was known for being a pioneer anyways.
He had plenty of reason, anon. A vast majority of the fanbase were vile towards him over the prequels. It became clear then that Star Wars fans would never know what they wanted, nor be pleased, and he had enough.
It's amazing how in the Disney SW movies/shows, there's no aliens besides one and the good guys has tons of races but the villains are always white people.
Disney has bigger problems, their in house studio animated movies are under performing. This is great news. Hope Disney Studio dies.
The animated studio nearly died if Little Mermaid failed, sadly that shitty movie and bastardization of a famous story found success. Hoping Disney dies. And that Kingdom Hearts fails and that their theme parks fail against Universal.
They have zero good movies too. The franchise is handled by soccer moms.
Imagine the aroma
>no good games
>zero good movies too

Don't Star Wars toys sell like shit nowadays? Unless you're talking about some other kind of merch?
worldclassBS and others has documented that toy and merch are going on the bargain bin or are being sent back because people aren't buying them.
Toys, clothing, branded crap (keychains, stickers, notebooks etc) - Star Wars makes over $2bn a year on merch alone.
You could just look it up instead of being fooled by stocked shelves, dollar bins and hearsay.
Better yet you could try not being moronic.
Show me what Star Wars merchandise sales data has you so convinced the merchandise is still profitable.

They probably lost more on manufacturing all those toys of the multiple characters that didn't sell than they actually made off merch
i went through all the star wars movies last year for the first time in the order of their release. i only liked ep 4 and 5

RC still hurts though
I think he means the sequels they were supposed to get after the sequels they got. KOTOR 3, BF3, and Rouge Squadron 4 were all supposed to happen before the buyout.
I don't want sequels at this point with what they did to Lego Star Wars.
You forgot the KOTOR games, Jedi Knight 2 and Republic Commando but pretty good list.
Even the movie tie in games were good. Being a SW fan in the early 2000's was fricking heaven if you were a gamer. Frick I miss it.
For me it was pic related
Being a SW fan in the early 2000's was fricking heaven*
fixed it for you

My homie
Because Disney is known for their game development studios.
Why shut down LucasArts then? What the frick where they thinking?
greed, its clear disney/lf doesn't want to share the rights with other companies they don't own. ATM, Disney would rather lose out on failing multimedia projects and theme parks than focus on videos games, yet games like Swtor are making them monkey, just barely.

Because they're cheap greedy bastard. Game developer is very expensive and Disney doesn't want fund it.

They shut all their studios down anon, even Lucas

Jedi Fallen Order
that was a blind shot that stuck like the Mandalorian. The episode 3 video game was a better game

Delusional. They wildly exceed them in every way.

Just here to say that my personal favorite Lucas Arts games were Shadows of the Empire and Rogue Squadron for the N64

why did he include lucas arts to the deal?
Would've been a stipulation, he'd have no choice.
There is no reason to believe Disney was going to make a video game, ya dumb b***h

are we ever getting bf3 or did reddit ruin that
Didn't a basically finished build leak a few years ago? Why hasn't someone tried to reverse engineer it and finish it?
I meant nu-bf3, but yes I'm pretty sure the cancelled original did resurface on reddit.
Him selling that license for peanuts was a mistake. The literal license for fricking Candy Crush sold for more.

Good. Boomer IPs need to die and go away. Make something new, interesting and more relevant.

Neither is Kennedy but they've both been in a israeli industry for decades.

He should've said frick the fans and did what he wanted. The prequels printed money despite all the shit he got for them.
Oh no, I agree. I can understand why he bailed to a degree, but doing it was still the wrong move to make.
Fallen Order was pretty great
came here to say this, if it had released before the Disney acquisition it'd be mentioned with the same reverence as KotOR and OG Battlefront
It was mediocre at best. I'd even knock it down to shit since it has that bug eyed black b***h in it.
