The issue is getting this out of servers. Steam rarely breaks the 50Mbps mark.

i haven't used the steam virus in years but can't you still manually select d/l servers?
I recently switched to 1gb fibre and I was prepared to be disappointed by steam download speeds, but it seems to pretty reliably max out my connection and if not it still gets over 70mb/s at the bare minimum. EGS on the other hand seems to not want to go any higher than 50mb/s and yesterday it refused to budge above 20.
i hope you checked every ports speed limits beforehand.

Before I left Venezuela my speed was 1MB/s (when it was working), until someone stole the cables of my whole neighborhood and I was left without internet for months.

Fiber optic fixes this but not every neighborhood has it, so even if I wanted to fork over extra money to fix this problem I simply couldn't. It just sucks to have internet that's like 600 mbps download but only TEN mbps upload.

Live in third world country, 50mbps up/down, could get 100 but it costs double what I pay now, and I can wait an extra hour or two while something downloads
