After hearing everyobdy say how easy this game was and how they were able to beat it as a 5 year old without using warp zones or continuing from the world they lost all their lives in, I kept trying to do it myself, and I just couldn't. I now realize I'm terrible at video games and have lost all motivation to keep playing them. I don't know what to do with myself now.

Go play Tiny Toon Adventures for awhile, then go back to Mario.Tiny Toon Adventures was the first game I ever beat (I was like 6). To me, after that, other platformers were a bit easier.
Worst question of all time. It makes very little difference unless you're just actively looking for something to complain about. NES dpad may be preffered but it's not required. Even playing Mario 3 on the Switch in 2 player (meaning using the joystick), I only died twice in the 5 worlds I played with my daughter.
Display makes a massive difference you stupid fricking moron. Holy frick am I tired of dumb fricking Black folk like you that just run their mouth off without knowing a fricking thing about what they're on about. It's this entire board in a nutshell. I've played NES on Switch myself on an LED and it lags like shit. Borderline unplayable. The online service is for normies that fiddle with it for 30 minutes at most and then go back to their slop.
Don't be afraid to just jump over the hammer bros at the end of 8-3 because your jump is higher than the range of the hammer, that's what fricks people over the most and if it manages to kill you well that's what the lives are for, don't forget to go below bowser and if you can pass the water levels you can do anything in this
playing very poorly doesn't mean unplayable, OP is just trying to beat it and speaking from experience all mario games are just as beatable even with godawful non-game mode LCD input lag, now if he ever wants to try a harder game then he is fricked but not on this one
Steam Deck
Never beat any Mario game ever.
That's out if disinterest though, not lack of skill
One of the hardest games ever made. Even miyamoto admits he gets a game over before beating it.
It's easy compared to Tomb Raider 3 or the first Rayman.
I remember my boomer parents beating this game while I watched. It's basic as frick
5 year olds at the time had frick all else to do. Internet generations have the luxury of choice.
This honestly. Games were deliberately much harder because they thought it gave you value for money. And 40% of the playtime was reading the manual.
I'll let you in on a secret OP, everybody used turtle tipping.
If you get a game over you can restart from the world you were at by holding A then pressing start, you don't need to start from the beginning every time.
I don't do that because then I'll be accused of not actually beating the game.
Then call them a moron and move on, who the frick cares what strangers on an anonymous slavic throat singing forum think of you?
It's no Ninja Gaiden but it's not easy
Bggff
Just play what you want and don't care what people say here. If I cared about every single "you didn't beat the game" post I'd have to play games in the most boring way imaginable by not using anything the game provides me aside from the most basic starting tools.
