Only morons buy vidya at these prices. Original hardware can be superior to emulation but consoles are almost always cheap to get, and you can always softmod them or use flash carts for the games.

I don't collect but my friend does and when I was in japan recently I bought him a couple things. Store was just the inside of an apartment. all N64 games 400 yen, sealed xbox games for 1000 yen. Got him mario tennis in box with all manuals and stuff for 3000 yen, probably 22 dollars at the time. US prices are a joke.
And for the stuff I personally care about, like eating out at a bunch of restaurants every day, US prices are also a joke. Why is everything so fricking expensive here??

He’s fricking gone mental since our mom passed away. He talks to himself and shit like that now too and he can’t converse with people properly. I’m pretty sure he actually has autism. I can’t kick him out because he literally has nowhere to go.

Sounds like he needs to be diagnosed & institutionalised if it's severe enough. I know this is extremely harsh and Ganker is hardly known for having empaths browsing the site but you really need to think about if you want to spend the rest of your life, or his life, taking care of him. You're robbing yourself of your life and if he is aware of himself in any sense, he's actively robbing you of your life.

NTA but even without institutionalizing he needs help. For the average populous I think therapy is a scam but when a guy who was never really all together gets whacked with grief like that they really need a helping hand.

You are, even though you mean well. I can tell that even if you knew you weren't going to truly be helping him by doing that that you were hoping he would come to his senses and realize that he's taking advantage of you, but he clearly does not care and is happy to continue taking advantage of you until you call him out on his bullshit. You need to look into cutting him off soon. He's 40 fricking years old.

Some guy at my work is collecting gamecube games and showed me a list of games is really interested in buying. I own several of the games on his list and he's paying slightly above average market value.
However, I'm the guy who is afraid to show their power level to co-workers so I wished him luck as I pretended ignorance.

I do not understand the pricing. It’s not like these games are rare, you can get them for free online. do the sellers not realize this? games now are just pieces of plastic, they hold no value on their own. who is paying these prices? recently, a seller wanted $64 for a copy of metroid fusion. ffs seriously? out of control.

I fricking hate my local gamestore so much
nothing's actually priced he just made up his own system and just overcharges whatever the highest price on ebay is, so you get shit like FFVII being $120 or Pikmin being $130 complete, or F-Zero GX being $180 despite being a Player's Choice print, or Kirby Air Ride for $200 despite missing the manual
