I played Shadowlands. I actually read the quests in Zereth Mortis. All "gods" in the Warcraft universe are some kind of soul-keeper machines that carry out programming from some mythical pre-creator-creators. It's why the jailer turned into a marionette when he died.
Every mention of a god, goddess, loa, or spirit in the Warcraft universe is trivialized forever by that joke of an expansion. Elune doesn't live on the moon, Azeroth's moon is no more magical than Earths' moon. Every character that died in a Warcraft game is a now a skeleton or abomination walking around Maldraxxus for infinity.
There's a way to make an expansion where you go to the afterlife and Shadowlands is not it. It couldn't have been worse from a lore perspective.

1. World Souls were never 'baby titans', they were formless until one of the major forces influenced them. It was just more convenient for the titans to tell everyone that world souls were titans being 'corrupted' by the void, when fundamentally they were doing the same thing as the void was.
2. Azeroth has been fought over and influenced by various forces for too long, so much that it has now become something completely new that is a mix of all the forces.
That's my theory, it's one I've had for a while now.

Eventually they realize that they’re both retards with no vision and the only remaining black dragon worthy to lead them is Ebonhorn/Ebyssian, the black dragon tauren from Legion.
It’s one of the more well-earned plot lines of DF.

He ain't wrong. In WC II you had a dragon queen and and evil dragon. It was Richard Knaak who ripped off Forgotten Realms to insert his own dragon flights with thematic alignments.
It's part of the reason they don't make any sense, he had very little to work with in the setting or was limited in what Metzen and co would allow, hence why you have redundancies like the green and reds sharing the same job. He also had to write quite the convoluted story to explain how they all suck at their jobs so bad it couldn't affect things like the First three wars.
Geen are Dreams and Wilds, Red are Fire and Creation.
Green is protecting the dream, Red is protecting life. Knaak tried to frame it as one protecting what's real, one protecting a mystical creaiton realm and made Ysera and Alexstrasza sisters to reflect that.
Part of the problem is the Emerald Dream was one of the most retconned elements of the WC universe, chaning roles practically every time something brings it up.
Blizzard didn't know what the dream was, aside from a spirit realm for druids, so Knaak made the greens as practically deities of it.
Of course, making red "life" was probably more of a mistake but again he struggled hard making sense of each flight as having some sort of role in the setting.
I mean his first major fuck up is conceptualizing the blue flight but then having them let Azshara and her night elves use magic freely.
My favorite are the bronze and the fact them having time powers in the first place being the thing theyre mostly busy fighting.

Knaak invented the Bronze to write a book about his OCs going back in time. His original excuse was "Old Gods could alter time" since Old God shit was just introduced into the lore via Frozen Throne.
Blizzard did nothing with that though and so the issues with the time lines ended up being the infinites, which are the bronze in of themselves creating a funny paradox.
I think modern blizz made a cope at some point saying any arcane mage can technically fuck with time but then that just makes the Bronze a more specialized Blue.

The Emerald Dream was clearly written as a rule of cool place first. They invented class to parallel mages and had to Hispanice them up with a spirit realm, they just never actually took the time to explain how it fit into their setting.
Since legion they've been applying weird metaphysics shit to Light and Void because otherwise they're simple counter "forces". Void is explained as "all possibilities" and light is "single truth".
So the idea is that the Light has a single vision of a single state of reality that they all fight to reach.

It's not under the normal order paradigm anymore, for a given definition of order and of normality — and the void, as it is necessary in canons as well.

Basically during legion WoW Chronicles vol 1 comes out. This book serves as an official lore bible that cleans up some clutter in the setting and restructures Sargeras's backstory.
It establishes that Titans are arcane gods that are born out of planets that have developed souls. Some worlds like Azeroth have souls, other worlds like Draenor did not.
Aman'thul was the first born and traveled around helping other worlds give birth to more titans until the Pantheon formed. They go around and order shit because it's their nature.
Sargeras is the strongest and is sent to deal with Demons, which are the anti-thesis of titans and exist to destroy order, devour souls and arcane. Sarg meets Dreadlords absorbing power from an old god infested world. They tell him that beings from outside reality, the Void Lords, want to enter reality and can only do so if they create Dark Titan. They do this by making old gods and tossing them at random worlds to infect.
Sarg realizes if a Dark Titan is born the void lords will enter reality and presumable black hole everything kirby style or some shit.
So Sarg joins the demons to murder the titans because he reasons that a ruined universe with demons is better than no universe at all.
Azeroth is a baby Titan, the Well of Eternity was its wound.

Also, there was this big tree of wisdom sort of drawing that diagrammed these elemental powers (life/death, light/void... etc.) and people put a lot of stock into speculating on that... then Blizzard came out and said that it's just a funny drawing and has no relevance to the lore.

The fuck up in legion was during the Argus raid they stated that the power of the burning titan was responsible for the Demon's having the ability to be reborn in the nether. A lot of the quest dialog basically emphasized that Argus being defeated would end the legion because their power of rebirth would end.
This contradicts what the book states, that Sarg was in charge of a prison world that sealed demon souls in order to prevent their resurrection.
Their efforts to hype of the raid caused a lapse in understanding their own lore causing an embarassing fuck up. They did the exact same shit in WoD.
In WoD all the demons behave as alt versions of the characters, basically following the what-if scenario of failing to corrupt the orcs.
The build up of WoD was that Kil'Jaden failed and Archimonde was annointed leader of the draenor campaign.
Then in the final raid blizzard decides that Archimonde is our Archimonde, that demons are out-side of time and that he was pissed about the world tree or some shit. It made zero sense and was used to up the stakes and make sense of alt-Gul'dan mucking around in our time line.

Reading the lore in the booklet that came with Warcraft 3 was so cool. Nothing could have lived up to it but WoW has completely squandered that potential.
WoW's story was a mistake in the first place. WC3's style of RTS mission storytelling is fundamentally different from WoW's MMO create-a-character storytelling. Of course it butchered the story, the styles clash too much.
I remember getting Warcraft 1, it was my first PC game, and I read that manual and took in all of the lore. Blew my mind.
Chronicles Vol II does a good job with Draenor's history. Arrakoa lore is top tier, Ogre and Orc history is cool as fuck.

It's sort of funny that we have the Aspects back.... who were basically just lesser to the Titanic Keepers, yet the Keepers have done basically nothing since Legion.

While I do like Dragonflight’s gameplay and world, especially as a solo casual shitter, the dialogue is so unbearably bad. WoW has never had particularly good or clever writing apart from a few select moments, it was always rule-of-cool cathartic shit, but the way everyone in DF acts so “guilty” and doubtful and sullen and solemn all the time is so fucking bad I’m getting an aneurysm.
I’ve always just played because it’s a cool fun adventure world where you get cool new swords and fight new types of bears and shit but it’s really hard to avoid the shit writing now, especially since they’re doing so much character-based interaction rather than the current events being the thing that unites characters.

Anon, in the rare event that we're actually one of the few rare new world players here, I can confidently say it's fucking trash. Expansion rollout was a disaster, weapon and gear balancing is in the dumpster, pvp is left by the wayside in favor of themepark shit (literally 2 years and not even another OPR map, kek) crafting is still a chore, the list goes on. It literally does nothing well despite its combat, PvP is ignored and PvE is incredibly mediocre and repetitive. The community shit is overblown, it's just a circlejerk for the warlogging companies. OPR/Arenas/M3s are mindnumbingly boring, and it's evident by the fact that it already lost half of the expansion player population in a month and only continues to go downward.
I can log in to classic WoW and still by baffled at the fact that it has features that New World still lacks, and the game released damn near 2 decades ago.
