Not really. It's fun overall and the plot is just average "haunted game" stuff, nothing groundbreaking but nothing terrible either
Act 2 was still really good, fight me
Yes, the Golly fight actually does use your Steam friends and you receive a card from online. The second phase is you making a card and sending it to someone and if they beat the first phase, you automatically win the second phase.
>thousands upon thousands of files in my system >somehow manages to find the porn folder
amazing. I lost some pictures of reimu getting railed so, more impactful narrative experience than TLoU
Some people whine about Act 2 but I loved it too. I wish we had more full games of that type, any time I bring it up people just mention the old ass gameboy pokemon tcg games.
Not worth it to go through real life stuff for it. jsut read about it online.
Your prize for going through it, aside from some lore about the game's code being evil nazi stuff, is a short video where you see that P03 is still alive so the game probably wasn't fully deleted (or he managed to upload part of it during the transcence)
The idea apparently is that there's something hidden beneath Berlin- some sort of huge machine. There's a code that will unlock it, discovered by the Nazis. That code, and the knowledge of what the machine is, and what was done to keep it hidden by the governments of the world, is the OLD_DATA.
Ehh, I liked my own interpretation like the OLD_DATA the game was referring to was a sort of IRL cheat code similar to Chim which is why characters in the game could change their own universe when they got it. All the Satan/Hitler stuff is just cringe.
At least Kaycee mod was fun and somewhat lighthearted. Probably should have changed the name though since people think its actually a mod when it's an base addition to the game.
>Is the ARG good?
absolutely fricking not
it is legitimately the worst ARG ive ever seen
“Go meet the creator at these specific coordinates to dig up a floppy disk with a Reddit username stored inside it to find a link to a custom card set made 3 years ago and find the name of a Manatee warrior to solve one third of a second cypher in a set of three”
half the point of an arg is unique types of immersion and this Black person hides parts of a cypher in a reddit account and his old games not relation to inscryption. fricking stupid and obnoxious
Not really. I also argued with a bunch of discord homosexuals during it because they had great leaps in logic about the ARG, but they'd just point at a google docs summary by some guy and say 'this is the word of god' even though its just some guy summarizing it. The solvers randomly guessed the correct code for one part and thought it had to do with holes on a roof, yet that had nothing to do with the correct answer, and there was a different intended way to find it.
The issues with Mox are that you have to clog your own board with worthless cards to play anything worthwhile. I myself would: >make Mox actually work like a land instead of a shittier version: they go outside the board as a resource >make Mox stronger: there's already cards that give your Mox fighting power. make wizards focus heavily on supporting mox, giving them buffs, entire sigils, more health, having the buffs stick around even after the guy dies. >triple the stats of every Mox card so they are actually worth playing

Just remove Mox entirely, that shit overcomplicates the game and isn't fun

I wanted to help P03 with the transcendence so badly, I got mad when the game didn't give me a choice
The ARG doesn't completely ruin it but the fact that it has to be three different games- one a weaker version of the one you start with- kind of hurts.
Though I do appeciate the ending we got out of it. The in-game one, I mean. Getting to shake the other Scrybes' hands was nice.
>mfw ended up playing act 1 like 8 times because I'm a contrarian homosexual who REFUSED to pick the glowing green eye because I always thought to myself "well everyone is going to pick that, I gotta pick something else"
I picked the same fricking boring brown eye every time because I thought it didn't matter and I was too scared of picking the double eye because I thought it'd frick up my vision and make the game suck
meh, i liked this game until the first part ended
could have sat in that cabin solving puzzles and playing cards until it was all fully explored and been happy
instead it turned into some shitty retro game that couldn't stop fellating itself
luckily i was able to wrest a refund from steam despite having played it for six hours or i'd be mildly upset
The shitty retro section lasts for like 2 seconds you lost your chance at experiencing robokino
the shitty retro section does not last for two seconds
it goes on and on and on and on like some shitty pokemon game wedged in between a good game and a shit game
Loved the game overall, but it kinda dragged a bit for me in chapter 2 and the start of 3. But I also did the infinite Oroboros exploit so it is my fault. I wanted to shake Magnificus' hand
In Act 1, it's one of the rare cards.
In Act 2, the Trader sells it at Leshy's cabin.
In Act 3, Leshy's clock suddenly appears and you have to do another one of its puzzles (but it is extremely easy to brute force).

The meta to beat Kaycee effortlessly is basically to take Mantis God and only draw creatures that cost a sacrifice. The game will always start your hand with one no-cost creature so you're guaranteed every time to draw it. It will end every fight in two turns, and then you upgrade/split/sew it together to the point it has insane attack, like 30, and then does it 3 times every turn.
You have to adjust for the prospector, but it's very easy. I wish I hadn't learned about it.
The game stacks your deck for you so that you're always able to get a monster on the board turn 1.
You draw one free side-deck card, one main-deck card that you could deploy immediately, then 2 random main-deck cards. So if Mantis God is the only possible main-deck card that could be played turn-1, you will always draw it.
Isn't mantis god locked until you beat the first boss?

I'm talking more about Kaycee's Mod, which has several different starter decks. One starts you off with an MG and two ringworms.
Of course this trick can work with other cards if you build and cut your deck right. Its not exclusive to MG.
I 100% the game, still disappointed. Could have been a Slay the Spire replacement if Kaycees mod was a baseline option you didn't have to unlock and rebalanced.
Devs should realize most people don't care about the ARG or even the gameplay past part 1 and just let them dick around with the entire side content focused around it.
Act 1 and 3 was what I was expecting the whole game to be like
Act 2 was out of place and I was happy it ended fast
Kinda sucks Grimora and the tree wizard got fricked out of acts. Makes them feel secondary to the rivalry between P03 and Lesley that was way more center stage.
At the start of act 2 they ask you who you want to replace, I chose the P03 because I like technology, when act 3 began I was like "WOW!! ALL 4 SCRYBES HAVE THEIR OWN GAMEMODE?" but no, turns out I just chose the right guy
I wish we got more of the 3 students, and Grimora is a cute old lady
Game Scope is a b***h and I can tell there was scoping issues since they developed concepts for the other 2 scrybes and what their acts looked like but clearly ran out of time or money or whatever was the limit.
problem with this game is Act 1 ended and the game objectively got worse
the whole ARG shit was unecessary and the game's director is a giant pretentious indie homosexual
Act 1 and 3 was what I was expecting the whole game to be like
Act 2 was out of place and I was happy it ended fast

anyone who says acts 2 and 3 are good should unironically get a better taste.
no matter how much you scream that those parts of the game are "amazing" or "worth it" you can't deny that 99% of people only care about the beginning with leshy.
I'll admit I didn't hate them or anything, but they were significantly weaker than act 1. You're supposed to lead with your best, not lead with ALL THE HIGH QUALITY GAMEPLAY AND PRESENTATION YOU HAVE.
This is the most current answer, and I'm normie that (loved pokemong tcg video game) went into this game completely blind.
Oh, and I picked Grimora both times: I rep ethical necromancer for life!
What ruined it was the dev being entirely unable to stop sucking his own dick
Secret occult shit is great, occult nazi shit specifically can also be pretty good, and the idea of encrypting a code using a deck of cards is a sick idea
But then it also had to be bogged down by the found footage youtube garbage and "the game is reall!1!!" creepypasta bullshit and cringey ties to the dev's other games
When will people learn that this shit is insanely better if you literally just stop trying to be meta with it
yeah agreed.
honestly i had no issues the concept of an arg around nazis creating a occult game.
i just... HATED how it was done using cringey youtube vlog style videos instead of doing some actual creepy stuff.
BECAUSE IT WAS RELATIVELY BETTER THAN THE OTHER STARTING CARDS SO YOU WOULD USE IT AND FEEL WEIRD/LISTEN WHEN IT TALKED TO YOU!
It doesn't need to talk in the post game mod biz, thats for the people that actually enjoyed the game and didn't play it just to b***h. People like you make me less mad at game devs that dumb their shit down as hard as they can.
I actually thought the Lucky Carder vids were cool. I just really did not like act 3 in terms of mechanics, and while act 2 was interesting, it was still a vast step down in many ways from act 1.
The Luke stuff on its own is a fun story by the end, but it should have been an out-of-game ARG as an ad for the game, with none of it being in-game except for an easter egg or two.
the lucky carder stuff should've been something relegated to a youtube channel or something.
having it be forced on you after beating the final boss of act 1 really ruined the game for me since it clashes heavily with the dark grimy vibe of the cabin
I hope we get something like what the "original" game was supposed to be like before P03 fricked with everything, with the different but equally spooky and mysterious locations and different game masters who change up the game in their own unique ways.
>what the "original" game was supposed to be like before P03 fricked with everything
I mean, that's just Act 2.
I wouldn't mind a fleshed-out Act 2 as a standalone game, but we already got what you asked for.
Nah you just buff the frick out of mantis god and win for free, if no fire spawns in the first map just reroll, if they dont eat your poisonous snake, reroll.
You literally don't even notice the ARG stuff in game, you have to go out of the way to seek that shit out. So no it ruins nothing, just play the game if that's all you want.
>not much into card games >wanted to try it out nonetheless >steam sale has all 3 of his games be lower priced than inscryption alone, so i get them all >love act 1 >act 2 arrives, i'm fine with 4th wall breaking and le retro so no problem >it keeps going >i have to actually build my fricking deck myself >lose my mind trying to do anything that works nicely for 3 out of 4 scrybes >simply let the game autocomplete my deck cause i'm a moron and hope it goes well >get near the final scrybe of act 2 >whatif.jpg >try clicking on a card despite having 20/20 >it fricking works >add all the cards to my deck >rng decides to be nice >i destroy the final 2 fights
Act 2 sucks ass. Wish there was a roguelite version of Act 3, but Kaycee's Mod is still pretty fun.
It's nazis and Satan. Inscryption is linked to The Hex which is linked to Pony Island. In Pony Island, you have to play a game made by Satan himself and try to break it to have your soul be free. In The Hex, an indie dev called Lionel sells his games to a company called GameFuna and they frick some shit up.GameFuna is owned by Louis Natas. Lou(cifer) is nataS = Satan. In Inscryption, GameFuna still owns all of Lionel's work and Inscryption as well. There are hints to this, as Secrets of Legendaria is from The Hex.
Not sure how the nazis and Hitler himself fit into all of this, but yeah. Nazis and Satan and capitalism. All together. Also there might be a loose entity.
In The Hex again, Lionel eventually makes his own company and has an old friend work for him. She makes a character called Sado, which looks creepy and ends up glitching everything out and creeping out Lionel. In Inscryption, when Amanda shoots Luke, for one frame, Sado's face shows up instead of hers.
I have no clue what anything I said means, but that's the story kinda
Not really. It's fun overall and the plot is just average "haunted game" stuff, nothing groundbreaking but nothing terrible either
Act 2 was still really good, fight me
Act 3 is the best and there should have been more hard-drive frickery in the game

How would you fix Mox and make it not shit?

Leshy fans unite
P03 > Leshy > Grimora > Magnificus

P03 hivemind
Act 3 sucks

In Act 1, it's one of the rare cards.
In Act 2, the Trader sells it at Leshy's cabin.
In Act 3, Leshy's clock suddenly appears and you have to do another one of its puzzles (but it is extremely easy to brute force).
Rare in act 1, if you just want to have an easy game find a situation where you can infinite summon it in act 1 or 2 and lvl it to 666
meh, i liked this game until the first part ended

You guys were able to get to best boss in kaycees right?
Jesus, the moon already btfos me sometimes, how do you beat this thing
Boost Ouroboros until it oneshots everything in the game
It's actually easier than the moon, but good luck unlocking it with all the modifier runs you need to finish.
Very hard in Kaycees to find a consistent way of boosting him
The meta to beat Kaycee effortlessly is basically to take Mantis God and only draw creatures that cost a sacrifice. Grimora is just plain cool, kind old lady necromancer fits so well and is underused.
I would have liked it more if it was just spooky slay the spire
problem with this game is Act 1 ended and the game objectively got worse
the whole ARG shit was unecessary and the game's director is a giant pretentious indie homosexual
The ending to the ARG doesn't even make sense and the whole ARG falls apart when you ask "who is uploading the youtube videos after he gets killed?"
P03. I spent 1 hour researching the ARG and even I can piece that together. So you're either a liar or a tard.
>we put all the effort into act 1 then made a shitty pokemon TCG knockoff then we trans gendered our game for act 3
>then we trans gendered our game for act 3
Black person what does that even mean have a nice day
they cut off everything good about it and left a rotting hole
Act 1 = Act 3 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Act 2
I don't want to waste my time building a deck god damn it I want to play the game
3 acts with 3 scrybes would have been better. And Grimoria is the better of the 2 that didn’t get a dedicated act.
SHAKE MY HAND
SHAKE MY HAND RIGHT NOW
>blocks your path
You kept him in your deck right?
I overclocked him
He survived it
I overclocked him and he died
You stimulated him too much
>2 strength card with a dirt cheal cost
Why WOULDN'T you? P03's game has a far lower powerlevel
Did you guys truly beat the game?
What would Grimora and Magnymagic's Acts be like? The old tree is all presentation and dogshit gameplay, can't see how they'd fix his trash resource
grimora would be the chessboard. magicboy would be yu gi oh
What's your favorite card?
for me It's the River Snapper with the bee effect
Toadpole is really cool if we're counting Kaycee's Mod. But in basegame, nothing can top Wolf Cub and Raven Egg. They're just so fricking good.
Mantis god carried so much of my games, slap Unkillable on it and it will carry most battles.
the long elk, the ijiraq and the ants
i like the long elk and ijiraq being these surprise wildcards that dont work like anything else in the game and have a weird mystery to them. i also like the ants completely fricking the standard battle logic if you bring them into play.
Infini-Bees with Fledgling Insect totem
Unkillable skink got me through skullstorm and enables so many shenanigans
The card game isn't even that good, the ARG is the best part by far. And yes, I did play Kaycee's mod.
act 3 was too long, game goes meta, and then you are back to playing solitaire for 3 hours
Gameplay is good, and overall the game is good.
Although I agree the ARG stuff is mind-numbingly shitty and is nothing but a detriment to the game.
Good game, didn't give a shit about the ARG because I have yet to see one that was worth it
Should I go back to The Hex? Pony Island was nice but damn Hex is really a drag.
anyone who says acts 2 and 3 are good should unironically get a better taste.

Act 1 is the best by a long shot, yes, but I still really like the other acts too.
Act 2 could've been good if it didn't ditch the mechanics that made act 1 work just to make a more one-size-fits-all ruleset for the other deck types
This is the most current answer, and I'm normie that (loved pokemong tcg video game) went into this game completely blind.
Oh, and I picked Grimora both times: I rep ethical necromancer for life!
Based
I'm sad as hell that we never got a more fleshed out Grimora section with real necromancy mechanics
Nice ad populum argument.
i dont give a frick about what other people care about
most people are stupid, including you
and i don't care about what you think either
What ruined it was the dev being entirely unable to stop sucking his own dick

honestly i had no issues the concept of an arg around nazis creating a occult game.
i just... HATED how it was done using cringey youtube vlog style videos instead of doing some actual creepy stuff.
WHY DOES THE STOAT IN KAYCEE'S MOD SUCK SO BAD
BECAUSE IT WAS RELATIVELY BETTER THAN THE OTHER STARTING CARDS SO YOU WOULD USE IT AND FEEL WEIRD/LISTEN WHEN IT TALKED TO YOU!
It doesn't need to talk in the post game mod biz, thats for the people that actually enjoyed the game and didn't play it just to b***h. People like you make me less mad at game devs that dumb their shit down as hard as they can.

Because it's not him

Kaycee's mod is too hard
Nah you just buff the frick out of mantis god and win for free, if no fire spawns in the first map just reroll, if they dont eat your poisonous snake, reroll.
>just restart if the game doesn't hand you a free win
Fricking hell you're such a homosexual.
Yeah i see your point, its gay enough that i quit before getting skull storm since the whole bloody gamemode is just rolling to get an op card.
Honestly act 3 format is better, act 1 atmoshpere is just unmatched.
They should make Kaycee's mod for act 3
You literally don't even notice the ARG stuff in game, you have to go out of the way to seek that shit out. So no it ruins nothing, just play the game if that's all you want.
QRD on the ARG stuff?
I played it a while ago and just never looked back after finishing it
This is all you need to know.
I really liked Act 2. Replayed it several times.
I take it the dev played the Pokemon TCG adaptation on the Gameboy
Wait it was actually nazis...? I thought Ganker was lying like always what the frick
>not much into card games
>wanted to try it out nonetheless
>steam sale has all 3 of his games be lower priced than inscryption alone, so i get them all
>love act 1
>act 2 arrives, i'm fine with 4th wall breaking and le retro so no problem
>it keeps going
>i have to actually build my fricking deck myself
>lose my mind trying to do anything that works nicely for 3 out of 4 scrybes
>simply let the game autocomplete my deck cause i'm a moron and hope it goes well
>get near the final scrybe of act 2
>whatif.jpg
>try clicking on a card despite having 20/20
>it fricking works
>add all the cards to my deck
>rng decides to be nice
>i destroy the final 2 fights
Act 2 sucks ass. Wish there was a roguelite version of Act 3, but Kaycee's Mod is still pretty fun.
It's nazis and Satan. Inscryption is linked to The Hex which is linked to Pony Island. In Pony Island, you have to play a game made by Satan himself and try to break it to have your soul be free. In The Hex, an indie dev called Lionel sells his games to a company called GameFuna and they frick some shit up. GameFuna is owned by Louis Natas.
